DCT-700 music channels...

The music channels are coming us having temporary technical difficulties on my DCT-700 stb.  It has been like this for a long time now.  When are these "temporary" issues going to be resolved or are they not going to be?

Christian, you are giving out wrong information. Business customers need to subscribe separately. All the music channels are in the basic Prime package for all residential customers.

  • DCT 700 box and the "Guide" channel

I've read all the posts regarding the DCT 700 box, which I have in my room and have found the answer to my question of why I dont get the guide channell.
The next question I have is a rather dumb one, but here goes: Can I just manually enter a channel to go to the guide channel to see whats on tv or is it impossibe to find out whats on tv with the DCT 700 box?
    Thanks for your help. Not quite sure of how this forum works and how I will get the replies to this post,{edited for privacy}
    Once again, Thanks

You will get the replies to this post underneath your post; it is called a "thread."
I think you are confusing a few things here.
The DCT-700, the "digital converter," does not have an electronic program guide. That is the Verizon-provided program guide which is built into the software on your set-top box. All of the set-top boxes besides the digital converter have it. It is not a "guide channel," but rather a graphic generated and displayed by your set-top box.
You referred to a "guide channel." I assume you mean the TV Guide Channel, which all cable providers have had for decades. Last year, the TV Guide Channel was bought by a different company, and in May 2010, it stopped providing any program guide at all, across all cable providers. It only airs regular programming like any other TV channel now. I am guessing they made this decision because a lot of people now have set-top boxes which give them a program guide anyway. Similarly, I don't think they have a print program guide like they used to (it was popular in the 90s and 80s), nor do most newspapers print any substantial program guide anymore.
So if you are looking for a "guide channel," you are not going to find one. So in that sense, yes, it is impossible to find out what's on TV with a digital converter (DCT-700).

  • Channels available on new STB's Motorola DCT-700

Verizon supplied at no charge 3 STB's (Motorola DCT-700) for my other room tv's. Two of the boxes are providing more of the channels I receive on my main DVR box including the movie package channels but one of the new boxes seems to only receiving the real basic channels I previouosly received when the cables were plugged directly into the other TV's. ANY IDEAS, I would hate to lose all the channels the other two are receiving but whats up with this one STB.

You should get all of the channels you subscribe to on the DCT-700 except of course for the HD channels, so you come out way ahead using the free box.
I suspect that, if you pull the electrical plug on the box that is not working properly, wait 30 seconds, and plug it back in, you will get all of your channels. If you don't, then I think about the only thing you can do is call the FiOS FSC.

  • Difference between DCT-700 and Standard definition box

What is the pricing difference, the quality difference, and the difference in what you get between the DCT-700 and the Standard Definition box.

a few dollars, same picture quality,  DCT700 does not get a full on screen guide, no VOD, no widgtes, no HD, no LED display for the time and such
basically you gett all of your SD channels and a smaller cheaper box

  • DCT-700 error 8701-1842

We have five TV's, two digital and three CRTs. No issues with the digital TVs. One CRT connected to a QIP2500 is working properly. Yesterday both CRTs stopped receiving channels from the DCT-700 STBs. TVs are on channel 4, STBs turn on, TV shows error message 8701-1842, channel not available, for all channels.
I'm in a cast and cannot run upstairs to keep checking these two TV's, parents are elderly and impatient. I've reset the router and had them reset the STBs (unplug for a minute). Wiring hasn't changed, so that isn't it either.
    Any suggestions?

Sorry for the troubles with your serive. Are you still having troubles with this?? Please reply back if so that way we can help out.

  • DCT 700 and QIP6416-2 issue

I have the 2 boxes above in the same room.  I split the cable coming out of the wall and ran a cable to each stb.
The DCT 700 is used to on my Series 2 Tivo box so that it can record shows that I can not record with my QIP6416-2 box because of scheduling conflicts.
I inclosed the DCT 700 front panel so that only the Tivo LED emitter could change the channel on the DCT 700.
My problem is that if I press the LIST button which brings up the record shows listing on my QIP6416-2 box a big message pops up on the screen of the DCT 700 telling me the 'DVR not aviable'.  The message will remain on the DCT 700 screen for about 10 seconds.  This also gets recorded by the Tivo
How can I stop the DCT 700 from displaying this message that cover most of the screen and screws with the tivo recording.  It is very agrevating when I am try to watch a recorded show off the Tivo system.
    Thanks for any help.
    Solved!

You need to more effectively block the front of the DCT700. I don't have the TIVO setup you have, but I do have a DCT700 and a 6416 in the same TV stand. I can simulate your problem by moving the plastic I use to block the DCT700 over just a little. The signal from the remote can bounce around a bit and can find the receiver on the 700 if it isn't properly covered.
Try the cover. If it doesn't work, post back.

  • Music channels in Zone 2?

Hey all - hopefully someone here can help me out.  I've also posted a similar question on avsforum.  Here goes.  My Fios DVR is connected to an Onkyo TX-SR 605 via HDMI.  This receiver offers "Zone 2" functionality that allows me to listen to audio on my outdoor speakers - and I can listen to a different source than what is playing in Zone 1 (my family room).  The catch is that only sources connected to the receiver via analog will play in Zone 2.  In addition to the HDMI connection, I have also connected the Fios DVR to the receiver via analog audio cables.  I am unable to get sound to come out of the outdoor speakers when selecting the input source that I have the cable box connected to the receiver (cbl/sat).
Does anyone know what i'm doing wrong, or is there no way that I can listen to my Fios music channels outside under this setup?

Should work if you hooked up the red and white RCA jacks on the BACK of the STB to your receiver.  All audio and video outputs are always on (I have mine going to a VCR and it works the same time my TOSLINK does to my AVR and the HDMI to the TV.  The only thing you might try is playing with the fixed / variable  and vloume audio settings in the onscreen menu from the DVR (MENU -> SETTINGS -> AUDIO -> etc.).

  • Music Channels via Computer?

I can get lots of FIOS music channels on my TV. However, I want to listen to them in another room and not have to turn my TV on. Is there a way to get them on my computer directly via Internet? If that's not possible, it seems I should be able to run a wire from a sound-out socket on the back of my Motorola QIP 6416-2 set-top DVR and use that as the source of the music. Which outlet should I use?

I am not aware of the ability to get the channels via the internet.
For audio, simply connecting the audio out (red/white on the bottom row of outputs on the back) to an audio input of a stereo or other system would do the trick.

  • Music Channels not working?

Music Channels are not working in Maryland.  They are listed in the guide, but no video or audio in the 1800 channel series...  any ideas why?

Montgomery County Maryland and working fine here.
Try to reset your STB or DVR by unpluging it for a couple minutes, and then pluging it back in. Sometimes that may help. But it may be worrking for you now anyway?

  • X1 Music channel delay and video function issue.

For the longest time we have a delay when switching from a video channel to a music channel. 1 time out of 10 the music plays instantly. The other 9 times we have to wait 30 seconds to 7 mins for the music actually play. Sometimes the X1 resests itself. Even with no one using the net or voice, so it's no a bandwith issue. I've reset the box numerous times. Calling Comcast they say swith the box out. I'd do that but they both have saved programs. So that can be a last resort I guess. For the video, here lately when when we fwd or rwd the video it does not respond for a few seconds. Example: You hit rwd the video to where you want it then hit play. It Keeps on rewinding for a few seconds and when it does stop and play, your way past where you wanted to be. I changed the batteries in the remote, no help. No need to reset the X1 because it Resets self, 2-4 times a week when trying to listen to music anyways. X1 really does suck though, from day one. I prefer the old hd box...

Sounds like you have some kind of connection issue with the X1 system.  I would call Comcast and schedule a tech visit.

  • Signed up for two years two months ago and now they are taking away my Music Channels!!

I signed up for the triple play back in December for two years, HD ultimate. I received an E-mail yesterday that all of my Music channels 1800 to 1845 will be gone unless I pay another $35 a month!!
I called up and Verizon says our provider is changing their plan. I indicated I signed a two year contract with Verison and I can care less about their provider isssues.
So what are my options? Anybody else dealing with this **bleep**?
    Thanks

I wouldn't assume because you or others may not have receive notice as an indication that this isn't possible. For example, I have yet to receive any notice from Verizon about the removal of the Bridge TV & Funimation channels like many other customers. Verizon is dropping the ball with exisiting customers and their own customer service reps based on conversations I had with them. I'm not sure if it is conscious tatic or effort of not informing exisiting customers of programming changes. But it seems to be an ongoing issue by just the posts you see on this forum.

  • Streaming FIOS TV Music Channels

I would like feedback and a response from a VERIZON REP.
Would like to see a service where we could stream the Verizon FIOS music channels to a computer or a wireless speaker to listen to the music throughout the house.
I use the musc channels all the time and would like to have it streamed through out my home.

    Couple of comments:
    1) This is a help forum. Requests for new services should go here: http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Share-Your-Ideas-with-Verizon/idb-p/ideas
    2) That being said, you can take the audio output of the STB and connect as input to any device that can then stream.

  • Running coax for the free DCT-700

Right next to the ONT, Verizon installed a 1 in 3 out splitter.  One of the outs goes to the router and the other two go to the TV's in my house.
I am going to be calling and getting the free DCT-700 and was wondering if I need to replace that 1 in/3 out with a 1 in/4 out and run the new coax the entire length or can I split it upstairs and just run it to my third TV from there?
If I do need to get a new 1 in/4 out splitter, is there any special/preferred kind I should be looking for?
    Thanks

It depends.  The three-way splitter is not really a three-way splitter.  It's a 2-way splitter with one of the two streams immediately (internally) split again for three outputs.  If you look closely at the 3-way splitter, you will see that ONE output has 3.5db attenuation, while the other two have 7.0 db attenuation.  If the line you contemplate splitting is the one that has only been attenuated by 3 db, then you can install a 2-way splitter anywhere in that path.  If on the other hand you put another splitter on one of the lines that are already reduced by 7.0 db, you're really suffering a lot of signal loss (10.5 db which is about 90%).  You can replace the 3-way with a 4-way, but then you have to probably run a much greater length of coax than if you use a 2-way splitter somewhere downstream.
My recommendation:  Ensure that the line you contemplate splitting is the one connected to the 3.5 db attenuated output of the3-way (you can switch those 3 around as necessary to get it set up that way) and then use another 2-way closer to where your 2 TVs/STB's are.
A caution:  any splitter or pass through connector you use MUST be capable of passing up to 1GHz.  Lots of older splitters are only rated up to 600 or 900 MHz.
