Dding favorite contacts in phone app causes it to crash in iOS 4.1

Hey guys I had this problem in ios4.1 and I am running on an iphone 4.
Go to your phone app,Then go to your favorites tab,Then tap the add button,Then go to the search feature in your contacts tab and search for any contact,after that click the contact and try to add them to your favorites list. Does your phone app crash as soon as you try to add a contact to the favorites?
Now you must search for the contact and not scroll through.
It happends to contacts that just have one piece of info. Like a solo phone number or a solo email address. If selects contacts with multiple pieces of info just fine.

Yup it only happens when you search for a contact through the favorites tab for a contact with a single entry.
Contacted apple and they said I'd have to go to the store to check it out or have a $599 hold on my account while they send a new one.
Its not too troublesome since there is a workaround. So here's hoping the next update might fix it. I don't know if a hardware problem cause I think 4.0.2 worked fine.
If more people could take a minute to try it we can confirm if its a hardware or software issue.

How to save new contact from phone app to ms outlook work account instead of local contact

Hi,
I need some help please.
I usually save new numbers that call me from the phone app, I just hit "add to contacts".
I keep all of my contacts on my work microsoft outlook account so they are synced with my work, I have absolutely no local contacts on the phone.
My Z10 saves these contacts directly as local contacts instead of saving them on my work account.
However, if I go to the phonebook app, and select add new contact from there, I have the option to select whether it's a personal or a work contact. If I select work contact, it will save it to my work outlook and everything's fine, however when saving from the phone app I don't have this option.
I don't understand what I'm doing, wrong, please help on how to save to work account directly from phone app.

What version of BlackBerry 10 software are you currently using? Go to Settings>About to find this information.
When in the phone application and press and hold a number, choose add to contacts. Then click Add contact at the bottom, at the very top you'll have a choice to choose Personal or Work. Choose Work if you want the contact saved to your work email account.

Phone number changed, but old number still shows in iTunes and in contacts within Phone app

My phone number changed, but when my phone is plugged into iTunes, it is still showing my old phone number in the iPhone information box. Also, when you are in contacts from within the Phone app. and you you pull down the list of contacts so it reveals the space above the search field, it says "My Number: (old number)" instead of "My Number: (new number)". I have synced my phone with iTunes since the change and my new number has been updated in my name record in the Contacts app. but the old number is still persisting in the aforementioned places. How do I get iTunes an the space above the search field in the contacts section of the Phone app to display my new number?

Z2 contacts and phone app crashing

I have had my Z2 for a couple of months, and now routinely do factory reset once a fortnight as the Contacts app and the Phone app crashes more and more frequently as time goes by.
The first day after a factory reset, all phone calls will work fine and I can find my contacts.
The second or third day, the Contacts app starts taking a long time, and the phone app starts crashing if I select a contact to call
The fifth to seventh day, the Phone app starts crashing every time I go via Contacts rather than dialling the numbbers
The ninth day or so, the phone crashes on half of the outbound calls
around the fourteenth day, the phone crashes also on inbound calls.
Interestingly, Skype calls work brilliantly, and contacts viewed in Mail or Gmail apps have no problems at all.
Does anyone have similar issues?
Is there a specific update to the Phone app on Android, or any Phone apps you would recommend?

Company Names excluded in searching Contacts in Phone App - Why?

Has anyone else had a problem with searching a company name through the Phone app Contacts search function? This seems like such a basic function to me, I was surprised. Calling for a cab, or local pharmacy shouldn't require Name Field be completed. It needs a fix for sure. Please advise if anyone knows if this is a bug, OS miss, or a unique issue with my Z10? Thanks!

Yes this is a known issue, as well as some other sorting and search issues within the contacts app. I have reported it, not sure if it made the bug list or not.
A work around for now is to use the universal search on the home page, it seems to search all of the fields. Then click the contact from there and choose how you wish to contact them by touching the options.

App store keeps on crashing in ios 6 on my ipod touch 4 gen

Everytime i search for anything in app store it searches and loads the seatch results but then crashes and then closes down the store this has started happening after the update to IOS 6

I found that if you go to "GENERAL" settings and then click on "ABOUT"..scroll down and click on "ADVERTISING"......then turn "LIMIT AD TRACKING" on...it appears this is new with iOS6..Since installing iOS6, i have had constant crashing apps, but since turning this on, they have gone away. I am also able to go into the app store without it crashing as weill as download/update as needed ...reading into this advertising scheme, it states that all aps will be "required" to use ad identifying, but not now....it sounds like this will be a big issue if it continues and Apple needs to fix it...I hope this helps, it has helped me.

Large apps causing installs to crash my 3G iPhone

My iPhone 3g has been very unstable when installing apps. I have had to restore my first 3G iphone at around 3 times. I am now on my second iPhone after a visit to the apple store. Restored this iPhone around 4 times! I've been trying to figure out whats been going on. When I first install apps directly onto the iPhone with the iPhone app store every thing flys and works great. Then after a while installs start to take longer and longer some more than 20 minutes and then soon my iPhone will just reboot and hang at the apple logo, never gets to the springboard causing me to have to restore my iPhone.
After testing a bunch of things I think I've found the problem. I restored my iPhone, set it up as a new phone in itunes and only synced my contacts and safari book marks. On the iPhone I started to install apps. Apps installed fast, most taking about 20-30 seconds to install after the blue line reaches the end. I installed about 8 apps, then I installed Texas Hold'em . This took a while to install about 5 minutes. The size of the game 128mb is really big compared to the other apps in the store. After installing, I installed a small app an it took about a minute and half to install, seemed slow so I installed another small app took around 3 minutes to install. It seemed like the installs where slowing down. So I uninstalled those 2 apps and Texas Hold'em. I reinstalled the two apps. Each took around 20-30 seconds to install. So then I tried this with super monkey ball its size 35 mb. The install took about 4 minutes. I installed another small app took about minute and 20 seconds, next app about 3 minutes. Each app I installed after this increased in time, taking long and longer. I uninstalled super monkey ball and all the apps I installed after and reinstalled the small apps. Eeach one took no longer than 20-30 seconds.
There seems to be something wrong when large apps are installed with the iPhone apps store.

Connect the phone to iTunes. Go to the File menu in iTunes and choose Transfer Purchases.

Phone app on 3GS is crashing constantly

I can't access my voicemail and can only call using contacts.When I press the phone icon, it tries to load then crashes back to the home screen. It's on 4.3.1.
Can you help?

It's not the "find My iPhone" App that you need. You have to turn on "Find My iPhone" in Settings > Privacy > Location Services and Settings > iCloud.

X-Windows apps cause tcc to crash

Anyone else run into this? Right now froma full KDE desktop or from a konsole when I launch Netview (running off of an AIX system via SSH) the client crashes. It occurs several seconds into launch, with the map already visible. I tihnk it may occur when the event log is popualted in the control desk. If I reconnect to the session the client immediatly dies. I can use the classic Java applet client and get it to work just fine. Running Windows XP SP2 on an HP business desktop (i.e. embedded Intel graphics). Server is running on a virtualized Red Hat ES 4.

Ideally, this is something you'd submit to support, then they can help capture the X intrinsics, and perhaps see what's causing the exception.
When I run into something like this, I try to vary the conditions to try and isolate the problem. For example,
1. If the Display is Client Window Management, change it to Independent Window.
2. Sounds as though you're launching an application on yet another system - that is, you're running a desktop, invoking ssh -X to yet another system to run Netview. How about running Netview directly as an SGD-hosted application, and bypassing the desktop / ssh step?
3. Alter color settings
4. You're running an old version of SGD; any possibility of an upgrade? I should mention, though, that I checked the release notes, and didn't notice any bug fixes that seemed to apply to this case.
5. Do you change your DISPLAY on the remote session before starting that aplication?
6. Any logs generated in .../var/log?
Also, are you aware of any X Extensions that the application might require?

Favorites and Contacts Missing from Phone App

When I go into the Phone App on my Iphone 6 I only see Recents, Keypad and Voicemail at the bottom. I used to see Favorites, Recents, Contacts, Keypad and Voicemail. Favorites and Contacts are missing.
I still have the regular Contacts app and can see my contacts are in there so the issue is just related to the phone app.
This is what I see...

If the reset does not cure the issue, check Settings > General > Usage and make sure your available storage is at least 15% or so of your total storage.

'Create New Contact' not working in Phone app

I want to Create New Contact after a call from a new number (selecting the "circled i" button next to the "unknown" phone number in the Recents tab) but while I was entering data in the Contact app, I was interrupted, the iPhone went to sleep and my extensive Contact entry was lost because no data is saved until the Done button is manually selected which closes the record.
When I go back to the Phone app and select the "circled i" button next to the "unknown" phone number in the Recents tab, both the "Create New Contact" and the "Add to Existing Contact" buttons to take me to the Contact app do not work...i.e. nothing happens when I press them, even after putting the iPhone to sleep. After several tries, I let it sleep for 10 minutes and now these buttons linking to the Contact app from the Phone app again work as usual.
So we have two unacceptable defects in the iPhone basic Apple apps here:
1- interruptions while entering a new Contact app record causes the new record to be lost because it isn't automatically saved when the iPhone goes to sleep or an incoming call, etc, but only when the user manually selects the Done button in the Contact app record, which closes the record and one must then select the Edit button to resume data entry (repeat often to simply save as you enter in case there is an unexpected interruption...how dumb is that?. This is just poor iOS implementation that doesn't consider common usage situations that cause data loss, and it could be data that isn't easily retrieved. If Apple doesn't know how to implement auto save at frequent intervals, or upon certain events like sleep or incoming call, then they should at least put a Save button next to the Done button so we can manually save without the stupid Done and Edit button pushing, repeat, repeat, repeat.
2- A bug in the Phone app that causes the link buttons to the Contact app to stop functioning in at least the situation I describe above. This is unacceptable in a mature iOS basic usage app.

why is the phone application contacts differnt from the contacts application. when in phone app you cannot access your favorites or extended search criteria by swiping to the right. After making a phone call i have to leave phone app and go to contacts app to get this info. Phone app only has basic contact info (no favorites or extended search info) should this not be the same.

Your old ID connects to an icloud account containing all your data (email, contacts, etc.) If you then use a different ID, you will connect to a different account, which results in losing all your "apple" data, like emails, contacts, calendars, etc.
However, Apple IDs are also used to connect to an itunes store account, with is different. You can keep using the old itunes store ID to keep all your purchases (but if you change to a different ID, you will lose all purchased items) and use the new ID for icloud (but losing emails, contacts, etc. from the old account).

My phone app freezes and message app crashes. I tried restarting multiple times and the problem persists. Everytime i go to the phone app and press on a contact to call it just freezes up and does nothing. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
