unable to download video from gmail email. the app keeps telling me to download it. i have. email attachment video has no paper clip next to it. help please

Well any videos i upload via itunes are fine and can be viewed ok...
What i am doing (and tried using my and 2 other different phone types) is recording something from my phone and sending it to her phone.
The sound is fine but no video.
All are saved in MP4 format on our phones which i know the iphone can play...
Just annoying... its her phone so it doesnt bother her much but it sure has put me off buying one myself... never had this trouble with any other phone... im sticking with my nokia n95 8gb i think!

While I don't use a Mac, I belive you connect the device to the computer via USB and then import the file using a file utility similar to what you do when you import digital pictures. I'm guessing that the Mac has something like this?

Viewing video from email

hi all
is there a reason i cannot view video from email sent to me by friends,everytime i try and open them nothing happens at all
ive got and iphone 3g s if that helps

What type of video are they sending? Is it in a format that is supported by the iPhone (supported types are on the Tech Specs page http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html )

Saving video from email with IOS 8

Let me start by saying I am such a huge apple fan but I absolutely HATE IOS8. So many obvious features which appear to have been stripped it is driving me insane! One of which is the ability to save a video to my phone from my email.
Does anyone know a way to do this? I frequently email myself instagram teaser videos for promotional things then I save them from my email and post them to instagram through my phone. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this with IOS8. There appears no way to save videos from my email.

After researching, I was about to reset the network settings but came across a quick fix of toggling the on/off button to airplane mode instead. For whoever had the same question, here is the link I followed:

On the first issue about pictures.
* You can set Firefox to ask you where to save the file rather than always using the Downloads folder. This article describes how to set that: [[Startup, home page and download settings]].
* When you say "there is no place to indicate the type of file, such as jpg etc." is the problem that Facebook isn't including that in the file name and you need to add it? If you could explain this part a bit more.
* Another way to save pictures is to use the Page Info dialog. While on the page with the images, you can use either: * right-click and choose View Page Info > Media * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Media As you scroll down the list, you can preview and use the Save As button to save those "hard to get" images.
On the second issue about videos.
* Do you see a gray space indicating that you need a plugin? Or does the video not play when you click it? Please explain what you're experiencing in a little more detail.
* In case you do not have the Flash player plugin for Firefox, you can get it here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ (make sure to uncheck any unwanted extras that Adobe might offer). If you do the download from IE, you won't get the right version. In that case, use this link to choose the non-IE plugin: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/

Why can't i link to a you tube video from email on 4s?

I received an e-mail from a friend with a link to a specific You Tube video but when I click on the link, I don't link to the video itself, it brings up the You tube home screen. I have the You Tube app downloaded on the phone.

Does the link work on a different device or a computer? It's possible the video they linked to is not available for viewing on a mobile device, or that the link is bad.

Mail attachment size is determined by your ISP, & limit that size to betweem 10MB's & 25MB's, depending on ISP. So, unless it is a very small video, you won't be able to.

Size is not the issue. In the old iPhoto you used to be able to share a video and it would compress it to fit an email friendly size. It doesn't do that anymore from iPhoto. I miss that feature. I have to export the video from iPhoto to my desktop then take into the old Quicktime 7 to share in email. Crazy.
It shouldn't be that complicated. I shouldn't have to find a work around. I guess apple wants to put you in a box so you have to do it "their way" via uploading to iWeb or iCloud instead of emailing video.
I don't like those options being taken away. While the quality may suffer by compressing for email, it is still the most direct and unconvoluted way of sharing something fairly quickly. I don't want to have to post to YouTube or Vimeo or iCloud and send a link. Just compress the video and hit send in an email and be done with it.

When I select a sound email or video, decide I want to go to another video or email, the sound from the first video continues to completion before I can listen to my new selection. How can I stop this?

How do I stop the sound from a video or email when I want I click out of the video. Presently, the sound continues and I have to escape out to home screen to stop it.

Now as you may know there is some icons at the bottom of the mail app, at the top left conner you should have the inbox button and on the upper right conner you should have two arrows to shift between emails. If any of those options works try :
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings
If that does not work try to re add the account
Last but not least, restore as new.

One doesn't.
Simply, sharing video via email is not advisable.
Many email services have an attachment limit of 20mb and some a limit of 10mb. As emails are sent through an array of relays, the effective limit is the smallest file size allowed on any of the relays. That means that video is rarely suitable for emailing.
Then there's the whole issue of Codecs and not all machines will have the codecs to play all videos. Plus, folks with slower connections can find it very inconvenient to download large video files.
Finally, sharing video from iPhoto via email is not supported. All that gets you is the Movie thumbnail. If you feel you must share via email then you'll need to export the video first, and attach that. Use the File -> Export command and set the kind to Original.

Other than that your options include:
Upload it to a sharing site like YouTube or Vimeo and email a link - these will allow the recipient to view the material online. That will avoid the codec issues mentioned, and the person can still download the video file if they wish.
Upload it to sharing services like Dropbox or YouSendIt and email a link. This will require that they download the material to their machines to view.

Why can't I email iphone 5 videos from my mac? They show up black

After I import videos from my iphone 5 (OS 7.1.2 - but I've had this problem through multiple operating systems), I sometimes want to email them from my MacBook Pro (OS X Lion 10.7.5). No matter what email program I use, (gmail/mac mail), the attachment sends a movie that is just a black screen. The problem seems to be in the way they are stored, because when I go to attach the video (into videos and then iphone videos), all the videos look like they are stored as images. They play just fine in iphoto from my computer though. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

They are removed. The "not on iPhone" List is exactly that, a list telling you what is NOT installed on your phone.
The "Not in iPhone" list is part fo our Purchased history. You cannot delete purchased items form the purchase history. Apple uses this list to known which Apps you have bought and as such have access to for free download again. Deleting an App from that list would defeat its purpose.
You can hide them from the purchased list though.

Final Cut is a separate, higher end video editor. The pro version of iMovie.
Give iPhoto a look at for creating the slideshow. It's easy to assemble the photos in an album in iPhoto, put them in the order you want and then make a slideshow of them. You can select from various themes and transitions between slides and add music from your iTunes library.
When you have the slidshow as you want use the Export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window and export with Size = Medium or Large.
Save the resulting Quicktime movie file in your Movies folder.
Next, open iDVD, choose your theme and drag the QT movie file into the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Then follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
The reason I suggest iPhoto is that I find it much easier to use than iMovie (except for the older iMovie 6 HD version). Personal preferences showing here.
