Ddr Pc2100

A few months ago i've posted a combination of ddr modules on a km2m, it was nice because the two modules were from known brands such as amd and kingston, but now the story is different:
actual configuration:
athlon xp 2000+ (oc'ed up to 1925mhz)
ddr 256 pc2100U kingston CL 2.5
ddr 128 pc2100U "unknown" CL 2.5 (the amd bank was pc2700 or 333 cl 2)
mobo km2m combo-L
psu 300W unknown brand
hdd maxtor 40Gb max diamond plus 8
cdrw optorite
1 side fan 12v 18amps
2 rear fans 12v 18 amps
Ok now my problem, with the same conf as before (when using the 128 amd module), i'm getting a lot of errors in memtest86. This is the second mem module i'm testing (previous one was returned) i know it isn't a defective module so this gotta be some bios configuration or maybe the new 128 module its not as good as the 256 kingston module, but what i find more bizzare is that i ran a test over the 128 module on a pcchips mobo with a p4 and it was ok with the same conf.
Some ideas? recomended bios configuration using 1t clk?

Sorry for the delay to answer, i have good news and bad news, i'll tel the good ones first, my actual configuration is working ok so far with no errors:
dram clock --- 133
dram timing --- manual
dram cas latency --- 2.5 (if i change it the system is still stable but no difference)
bank interleave --- 4bank
precharge to active --- 2t
active to precharge --- 5t
active to cmd --- 2t
dram command rate --- 2t
ok that is the configuration that is actually working but the bad and sad news is that the speed has decreased for about 200Mhz (from 709Mhz to 524Mhz) so now the oc i've made has gone to hell, and the only setting that i have to change to get the 700Mhz is dram command rate but every time i do this memtest86 drops a consecutive list of at least 1200 errors in test 5 and some more in 11.
Any suggestion, please be creative :P.

MS 6533 & adding 256 DDR PC2100

Hi guys, can someone help me with this RAM problem. Whan I put together this machine I installed one Crucial 256 MB DDR PC2100 chip. Then I purchased a second chip a few months later. Ahen I added the second one in the remaining slot, the machine continues to detect only 256MB, one of the two slots does not seem to be seeing the chip, because when I use either of the 2 chips in the other slot, iit works fine. Any suggestions?

AMD 2000+ TB core & PC2100 DDR mem

I just installed an AMD XP 2000+ processor with a T-Bred core. I also installed some DDR pc2100 memory. What should I set my bios to in order to make sure this thing is running as fast as possible? Do I set the CPU FSB to 266mhz and then is there anything I need to do to make sure the RAM is running at the same speed? Lastly, the retail box the proc came in says it runs at 1.667 Ghz. WHen I check it in the Core Center, it says it's running at like 1.2xx Ghz. What gives?

Dude... thanks... that fixed like almost all of my problems. Now the bios start up screen appears and now CoreCenter reports 1.667 Ghz! Thanks again.... is there anything I need to do to my RAM now?

I got the machine runnin now by putting the pc2100 in 1st bank & the pc2400 to the 2nd bank, it wont boot when pc2400 was on 1st.... :D
Tested it by transfering 13.3 g file and hoping it running stable as it used to...

PC2100 and PC2700

I have read many threads regarding this topic, but I am still in doubt. My iBook G4 is a late 2004 model, 12", 1.2Ghz with 256MB RAM onboard. The removable 256MB RAM has a "DDR 333, PC2700" label on it. This shipped with the machine I ordered direct from Apple. But I checked the user's guide and it says DDR 266 PC2100 RAM modules are used. It seems to me that DDR 333, PC2700 is compatible but runs at DDR 266, PC2100. But then, why did Apple ship me DDR 333, PC2700 in the first place? Recently I had the module replaced. The shopkeeper gave me a 1GB DDR333 PC2700, saying it's compatible with all iBooks and PowerBooks. The 1GB module works fine, but I still don't understand why no DDR266 PC2100 is available. By the way, is DDR333 PC2700 more expensive than DDR PC2100?

When you bought your iBook chances are that PC2700 was less expensive (as it is now...more is produced) so Apple installed PC2700. PC2700 supplanted PC2100 soon after PC2100 was introduced so of course PC2700's use is more wide spread and is backward compatible with PC2100.

DDR 512- 1024

I now have 2 x 256MB DDR (PC2100) on my MSI KT 3 Ultra. I'm planning to upgrade it to 1024MB. Can I just buy 512MB DDR (PC2700) and install it, or are there any problems that will come up? I now have Hynix memorysticks, and think I could buy Kingston, Apacer, or Samsung 512Mb DDR...

You could try, but diffrent brand sticks, heck even same brand stick can have compadability problems when trying to run together. Be sure the stick you buy is on the approved list from MSI.

Hermes 845GV-Lite - 2 ddr rams don't work

I have a Hermes 845GV-Lite and I have made sure I have the correct RAM ddr pc2100 266mz ddr sdram and I have bought 2 sets a 256 and a 512 both work indidually but together and windows crashes every time ... Both rams are kingston and both work fine when put in on there own but not together .... although the ram test at the begining of startup finds both chips..... What can I do to sort this out ???

I must say that MSI mobos are very sensitive when RAMs are mixed, especially when they are working under different RAM CAS timings. Check what is the similar timings between both RAMs and set your DDR Timings to that value. Try to increase your DDR Voltage to 2.7v also.
Next, it will be better if you pos your Full system specs + PSU specs amps.

Kt3 ultra reboots when 1gb ddr memory is installed

My kt3 ultra mb reboots when more than 1gb ddr pc2100 samsung memory is installed. boots through when 1 512mb ddr is installed or 1 - 512mb ddr - 1 - 256 mb ddr - I want to put all (3) 512mb ddr for a total of 1.5GB but always reboots. Im running 98se o/s. I even tried win2000 and also xp home?? Any suggestions. ?? Please help??

WIN 9X will recognize more than 512 MB ram but doesnt know what to do with it.XP or 2000 should run any amount your board can take. I seem to remember from a forum, either here or AMDMB.com or HardOCP that with this board you should do 2 sticks in the first and 3rd slot. I also seem to remember that this board was one of the few that Anand at Anandtech reviewed that ran ok with all 3 slots filled with memory.I can run my Samsung PC 2700 at cas 2 fast settings with 1T command disabled all day long.With 1T enabled it's reboot city.Double check your settings with the setup sticky at the beginning of this forum.Maybe try other memory? KT3 Ultra-ARU battle

I have a Pentagram Dark 56I modem (Lucent win modem) installed on MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU. Everything is working now except my modem witch does not connect to the internet (only one out of fifty connections is successful). I haven’t got any idea what is wrong and what settings in bios are responsible for the work of internal PCI modem with MSI motherboard. The modem is 100% efficient (it worked fine during 13 months, latest driver, proper settings, checked on another computers), telephone line too. I tried all bioses 5.1, 5.3, 5.4, 5.6, all PCI slots, Windows 98, 98se, Me, 2000, XP pro, PCI latency patch, another mouse and keyboard. Now I am going to suicide ;( . Do you have any idea what else can be wrong (I disconnect every peripheries): broken motherboard, memory (1x256 DDR PC2100, checked in all slots) or my Athlon XP 1800+? ?(

Black screen before windows xp

i just bought a nForce2 MS-6729 motherboard and a Powmax case and i put all my components together which are:
400W Power Supply

The problem i am having is that when i cleared my primary drive off and reinstalled windows xp it had a halt, i sat there and waited for 5min while i was at the blue screen with "Setup is loading Windows". Then it finally installed, after the installed and the bios came up and then the IRQ screen came up i had to wait 5min till the Windows loading screen came up. Every time i have to restart i have to wait 5min on all this. I have tried disabling AGP 8x and fast write, also tryed increasing the DIMM Vcore to 4.7 and disabling APIC. Any ideas anyone?

Using 22" Cinema Display on Gateway without DVI

Hello,
I am giving my 22" ACD with ADP connector to a co-worker without a DVI card. I have a ADP/DVI connector, but he needs a new video card. He does some low level video editing and graphics work. We have a budget of about $200.
Can someone make a recommendation on what type of card to buy for his machine to run the monitor?

you should be able to get a decent AGP video card (with both VGA and DVI-I support) at any retailer (CompUSA, Best Buy, even Wal-Mart), as well as a decent RAM upgrade for the PC, both for under $200
I would recommend at least a 64mb video card, and at least 1gb of RAM (total) for the PC. generic cards like a BFG card with a nVidia chip will be pretty cheap, and will have the necessary DVI port for your ADB-to-DVI converter, and will work with the monitor. however, I am not sure if Windows XP will have necessary drivers for the monitor -- you may have to force the resolution...
also if you're ok with buying stuff online, newegg will have great prices for cheap PC parts-

and search for cheap RAM, if his PC uses DDR (PC2100/2700/3200) then it'll be most cost efficient-- otherwise hope it isn't RAMBUS!!! that stuff is expensive (worse than PC100/133!)
a large hard drive is nice to have as a scratch disk as well, but this will definitely take you over your budget.

Windows XP - Thumbnails and nForce in general

For some reason when I select a video file (mpg or divx so far, probably most others too) and XP does it's thing to retrieve the thumbnail and details I have explorer getting locked into a loop and taking 100% of my CPU time as well as the RAM usage escalating. This only used to happen on bad files when I had a K7N420 Pro. Now I've upgraded to a K7N2G-ILSR, same RAM, same CPU, I get the same problem but massively worse. It now gets into this with absolutely any video file.
I'm wondering if this is a compatibility problem or if I just haven't got somethign setup right.

Windows XP keeps a record of all files on the hard disk so when you do a search on the hard drive it is faster. There is a downside to this and because the computer has to index all files, it will slow down normal file commands like open, close, etc. If you do not do a whole lot of searches on your hard drive then you may want to turn this feature off:
Open My Computer.
Right-click your hard drive icon and select Properties.
At the bottom of the window you'll see "Allow indexing service to index this disk for faster searches," uncheck this and click ok.
A new window will pop up and select Apply to all folders and subfolders.
It will take a minute or two for the changes to take affect but then you should enjoy slightly faster performance.
If that does not help try running sfc/scannow in the command line...just make sure you have the xp cd in the rom drive.

I'm having problems with my K7N420 Pro MoBo. I have one 128 MB strip of DDR PC2100 RAM in DIMM slot 1, and at post, it says that I have ~98,000K OK + ~32,000 shared memory.
When I try to install Win2k, it throws a stop error about the memory. Also, I have a 20GB Maxtor HD, and it's on the primary IDE chain, and the jumper is on the Master setting, yet in the BIOS it says that it is the Primary Slave. I've checked all the cables and I think I have it hooked up correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the errors in the order that I get them,from boot to crash. (I am trying to install Windows 2000.)
The hard drive is detected as the slave on the primary channel, which is incorrect.
Nvidia Boot Agent, PXE-2.0 (Build 082 V1.04)
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
Then after it boots the setup disc, it says:
Disk I/O error: Status = 00000100
After that it continues to load setup until it gets to the "Setup is starting Windows" message at the bottom of the screen, at which point it hangs with this displaying on the screen:
***STOP: 0x0000007F
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
It says to run a memory diagnostic, then consult the manufacturer's manual and all that jazz.
I think the brand of RAM is Kingston, but I'm not for sure.

PRoblem with harddrive activity led when two cdroms are plugged in

I am currently having problems with my hard drive led on my k7t266 Pro2-A whenever I have my harddrive, dvd drive, and cd burner connected the hard drive activity led doesn't do anything it just stays constantly on. I have things setup like this: the hard drive WD 80GB Special Edition is master on IDE1, the TDK cd-burner is master on ide2 and the dvd drive is slave on ide2. If I unplug the dvd drive the led wors like it is supposed to, but with it plugged in it just stays on any help would be appreciated.

I would try to put both CD drives on one IDE and the HD on IDE #2. Play with the jumpers on the back of the CD drives, make one master and the other slave. I have had good luck with auto detect, but have one DVD player and one burner just compete with each other and both want to be the master.

Wondering if linked ram is OK for my Powerbook G4 12"

I am thinking of purchasing this ram and I am wondering is it would be compatible with my 12" 1ghz PowerBook G4. It all seems ok to me but I am just double Checking.

I cannot agree more here. I recently purchased a PowerBook G4/1.5 from a pretty repultable mac resaler that came with 2 hodge-podge 512mb chips in it that would only see 512 no matter what I did to swap them around.
Biting the bullet, I went over to OWC and purchased a 2 gig upgrade kit for around $66.00 +shipping, a few days wait, a 10 minute install later and smooth sailing on my PowerBook!
Good call on doing your homework and follow-up's on the forums.
