DDTS-100, Megaworks 710D, SB Live! 5.1

I use the digital out minijack of my SoundBlaster Live! Player 5.1. It is connected to the co-axial digital in on the DDTS-100. I am just wondering what settings I should use in Creative Surround Sound Mixer and Windows control panel (sounds & audio devices) as the speakers are 7.1, but I reckon as far as the PC is concerned the output is stereo (when not an AC3 stream). So, do I have windows and surround mixer set for 5.1, 7.1 or stereo speakers?
thanks in advance
dave

No, I really can't complain at all about the setup.
I use Windows Media Player for my 4000-odd tunes. The DDTS is set to Neo:6 music most of the time, with the speakers set to upmix from 6.1 to 7.1. The sound is absolutely awesome!!!
When watching tv i flick it onto dolby pro logic 2, and change the speakers to upmix 5.1->7.1. Again, sound is superb! Just before the Star Wars trilogy came out on DVD I watched my VHS tapes, and due to the witchcraft and wizardry Creative have provided me with, I can honestly say that the sound quality and surroundiness was nearly as good as the DVDs are themselves.
I would thoroughly reccommend the DDTS / S750 combo to anyone, and even with my oldish SB Live! card the sound is superb, clear, and best of all, LOUD.
An Audigy 2 may be on the cards for Christmas though..........

  • Windows MCE 2005 -- XBOX 360 -- optical -- DDTS-100 -- analogue -- MegaWorks THX 5.1

    Dear Creative Forum,
Please look at the setup in my subject line.
Can anyone tell me if this will support playing of (5. encoded) WMA-files. I believe that all the decoding must be done by the DDTS-00, since the XBOX probably uses through put SPDIF, and I am in doubt if it decoder supports this.
    Any smarter solution?
    Thanks in advance.

I am from New Zealand, our output is pretty much a stable constant 230V. Dad is an electronics expert, he disagrees with a lower voltage - lowering the input voltage will only lower the output volume. So in effect this will make the hiss appear to go away, but in reality it's simply lowered to a point where it's nominal or below hearing. The total output volume is also lowered, so you need to turn the speakers up more to hear anything.
It fits with what others have said about repaired systems, that don't go as loud any more. This isn't the fix.
We tried putting some heavy capcitors accross the speakers to act as a sort of high pass filter but that didn't appear to have any effect, which surprised him (if it had worked it would have killed some of the treble range also as a side effect, so again not a perfect solution). So it needs to be something a little more involved - like a decent filter of somesort.
It's probably just a cheap chip on the amplifier. I'm trying to get the company to find a NEW pair from the suppliers that doesn't hiss, then doing an RMA. Otherwise I"m tempted to get a refund, since IMO they're just **bleep** sounding. I've never heard hiss like this before, no matter how cheap the system. My DDTS-100 decoder seems to have a hiss problem also.....

  • DDTS-100 with Megaworks 550?

Maybe a silly question, but I'm looking at pictues of the DDTS-100 at Creative's site where you hook up everything, and I can't see have the speakers will work and still have the sound card hooked up. If the speakers go to the switch box, how do I connect the X-Fi card to the switchbox? I'm alos looking to connect a 360.

  • MW 550 5.1+ ddts 100+ audigy 2 zs. Help!

Hi, i have purchased recentley all of those things. Creative Megaworks 550 THX 5.1, Creative Decoder DDTS 100 and Creative Audigy 2 ZS, but i'm not really sure how to connect it... I have it connected by this way, but i only have sound from front speaker(2 channel):
Audigy 2 ZS to DDTS 100- digital out(audigy 2) to coaxial (on ddts 100)
DDTS 100 to Megaworks 550- three cables(don't know the name-green, black and orange) to the speaker system.
But, with this configuration, the sound only comes from the 2 front speaker and the sub woofer. Without the ddts 00 and digital output(from audigy 2), the sound is allright. What do i need to do?
    Thank you

    dragao,
Check the following thread first, as it covers the same topic (pretty much):

Because you have the DDTS-100 decoder, you can use analog connectors for music and games, the decoder has enough inputs to do that.

  • Ddts 100 is this normal

ok so far i have spent over ?600 to get a dolby digital system with some punch
Firstly i bought the s750 gigaworks speakers
then the audigy 2 zs platinum soundcard.
Now this should have been good enough to get dolby digital via optical out on dvd to optical in on audigy 2 zs live drive ( nope lip sync issue with no fix in sight)
So i buy the ddts 100, well actually i sepnt my money on another creative 7.1 speaker set that includes the ddts 100.
Set it up and yes i can now get dolby digital / dts etc.
But i got no switch box, your also suppsoed to get 2 (7.1) audio cables, I GOT it gets worse can someone that represents creative tell me, what sound quality i should expect whilst using the analogue stereo inputs.
    Stereo is ok
But when i want to use dolby prologic or the neo to upload 2 channel stereo to 5.1 etc. in movie mode, cinema mode, music mode etc.
I get high frequency garbled noises from the speakers, it aint the speakers as i do not get these nosies using dolby digital, i only get these noises whilst using the prologic and neo, now i know this is not normal, as it would be pointless if this was supposed to happen, why is it all the creative geart i have bought is having troubles. Do you not think that someone who spends this amonut of money deserves to have hardware that actually works as intended.
The amount of hassle i have and for someone to say, that has a vested interest well mine does not do that. Do they just keep the good stuff for their workers and palm everyone else of with , sub standard, missing parts etc.
    Whats going on?

The iPad 2 & 3 came with a 10W charger, the 12W didn't roll out until iPad 4.  But if the OP is using an iPhone charger, or anything that delivers less than 2A DC then that would explain the lengthy charge time (9 hours does seem rather long).

  • DDTS-100 Switcher Alternative?

Hello, I recently purchased a Creative DDTS-100 Decoder, and could not be happier with it. Unfortunately it was a refurbished model missing the switcher box (PC/Decoder to Speakers) and Remote Control. The remote is inconsequnetial as the decoder is not more than a few feet from me, however, the switcher box is considerably more important. Due to my X-fi being unable to output 5.1 (to my knowledge) on any socket other than the 3x3.5mm stereo on the back of my PC, I have to change the plugs every time I want to use full 5.1 on my PC or decoder. I am aware that the X-fi card is unable to output full 5.1 over the SP/DIF out, Optical out or flexijack in Vista due to hardware issues.
My question is, is there any way to hook up the DDTS-100 and my X-fi to my 5.1 headphones (also using 3x3.5mm) with adapters, or is there another product which will allow the same functionality as the DDTS switcher?
    Thanks for any help.

You might want to consider a low cost home theater receiver and connect the satellite speakers directly to the receiver. You'll probably have to make your own cable to use the line level output from the receiver's subwoofer channel to the Megaworks subwoofer. Just be careful not to overdrive those little speakers with the receiver. As an added benefit, you'll probably get much better sound quality as well.

  • Ddts-100 + audigy2 zs + 550thx mega works. only left/right output

just purchased and installed the above system. however, when doing the software test under speaker settings, i only get front left and front right. all the others dont work. i have miniplug out from audigy (digital output) to (coaxial input) decoder, then decoder out (front left/right, rear left/right, sub/front) to megaworks input (front left/right, rear left/right, sub/front). i do the test on the ddts-100 decoder, and i get all 5.1 channels. now, just to clarify, i used the supplied mini plug to rca, that rca to the rca input (coaxial) the plug is the mono plug that came with the decoder. do i need to go out and buy the 4 pole mini plug? why dont they just supply it instead of the mono plug.. which isnt even shown to be used in my manuals.
anyway, clarification would be good on the mono/4 pole miniplug. otherwise nice sound so far.cant turn it up cuz its midnight and highly doubt the neighbours would appreciate it.
    cheers
    Steve

Hmmm... My guess is that this is due to your setup with digital out. Since the digital out on your soundcard will not pass through anything other than stereo PCM or encoded SPDIF data you will not get anything else but FL and FR channels when calibrating. Read more about this is the soundblaster forum section here.
My suggestion, as I'm sure everyone else will, is to connect your soundcard using the analogue outputs into the switchbox of the DDTS-100.
Edit: to be more precise this is how you can connect everything: from your soundcard, connect the analogue outputs into the switchbox of the DDTS-100. Connect the switchbox to the main DDTS-00. Connect the DDTS-00 main to the speakers. Now, connect the digital out from your soundcard into the coaxial input on the DDTS-100. When doing a calibration, switch to PC mode on the switchbox and calibrate. If you then want to use the digital out, enable digital out only in the speaker or THX settings. I use this setup at home actually but use the T7700 speakers instead.

  • DDTS-100 No effect.

    Hello to everyone.
I have a ddts-100 decoder system and creative gigaworks S750 speakers. I connected the decoder with coaxial cable from my SB live.
My problem is that i haven't found a way to play trasnparent 5.1 sounds from my computer to the speaker system. What i mean? When i run the test of my SB card the only speakers i can hear is FL and FR. That happens because the DDTS cannot use no effect to input sound. Why is this important? Because many many games has they own effects and the decoder (as it is its work) mixes up these to all the channels. As a result the back sounds comes front and opposite.
I had another system of SB Live! and Creative Inspire 500 digital (those with the decoder-amplifier) and the decoder has the option "5.1 headphones" which plays trasparent the channels from its digital input. I say that maybe this is bad when i play music, watching tv or playback any stereo source because the only speakers that plays are the front left and right. But when you need no upmix effect, as games with EAX, it is the only way to cycle the effects as game is programmed to do.
So is the any way to bypass the DDTS-100 its effects? If no, i beleive that is useless. What to do a decoder that mixes everything as it likes?
Test: POP-Warrion Within. Stand in front of anything has sound (waterfall?) and start cycling. Listen with ddts-100 and then turn to analog, bypass ddts-100.. There is a very very big diffirence..
Sorry about my english, i am greek.
    Gordona.

First of all the DDTS-100 does NOT support other than stereo analog inputs! It has 3 optical, coaxial and 3 stereo analog.
Did i miss something? I said that the other deocder that i have, Creative Inspire 5.1 Digital 5700, supports that thing. I understand the diffirence from ac3 encoded sound but i don't mean that. I 've no problem with dolby sound, the DDTS recognizes and decode it.
There is only Digital Stereo and AC3 coded? And if that happens why the other decoder can listen and play every channel its own?
SB PCI->Digital Din-> only digital stereo?
    or
    coaxial-> Digital Stereo-> DDTS-100?
    I really cannot understand.

  • DDTS-100 + Zalman 5.1 headphones...will be good ???

Hi guys, i have a mobo with Soundstorm2 and i heard that this card has a excellent digital output....so i want to buy a DDTS-100 decoder to connect with my Zalman 5.1 headphones.....what do you think ?
Thanks in advance for any opinions

I would be careful about the Zalman ZM-RS6F headphones. I don't know if the same problem exists with the newer cards, but I have been having problems with Zalman ZM-RS6F-M headphones interfacing to my SoundBlaster (SB) cards. I suspect it may be that the Zalman interface may not match the standard 3 plug 5.1 surround sound interface.
For my money, if you want good surround sound in a headphone I would get the LTB-USB headphones. If you want a microphone with them, get the LTB-USB-M headphones. They sound great and installation is a snap.
Any way, back to the Zalman's:
I currently have two systems, one with an Athlon 64 3500+ running an SB Live! 24 bit and another with a P4 3.02Gig running an SB 6 bit (or 4 bit's -- it came from my Gateway) card.
The Zalman headphones sound very muddy when connected to the 24 bit card, the volume is very low, and I don't seem to have any bass. In 5.1 mode, there seems to be fairly good location for FL, FC, FR, RR, and RL speakers, but there is no sound when the subwoofer activates. When in Americas Army (AA), you can't even hear anyone walking.
The Zalmans sound a little better with the 6 (4?) bit card, but still are rather muddy and the lack of bass is less noticeable. For many uses, the sound can be fairly well corrected by boosting the bass and treble. When using AA, while footsteps can be heard somewhat, directional sense is worse and footsteps still are way too muffled to be noticeable -- they are much harder to hear than with our old Plantronics stereo speakers.
I am guessing that there are several possible causes for this problem:
    1) Interface Incompatibility: When looking at the docs for the SB 24 and the Zalman headphones, I noticed that while the Zalman docs label the 3 plugs as Front, Rear and Center (I assume they are referring to the front, rear and center drivers in each of the headset cans) while the SB24 labels its receptacles as 1,2,and 3. My limited understanding of the typical 5.1 interface is that:- Plug carries both sides of rear (or front, I can't remember)- Plug 2 carries both sides of the other (front or rear)- Plug 3 carries Front Center (FC) and the Subwoofer
If the SB is using the third receptacle for FC and Subwoofer and the Zalman wants it to be Right Center and Left Center, this could be a problem.
    2) Impedence Mismatch: I could not find the output impedence of the SB 24 on the site so I was unable to check on whether there is an impedence mismatch between the Zalmans and the SB. If anyone has this information could you please post it's
    3) Incorrect driver settings
    4) Defective Material: Either the SB 24 or the Zalmans could be defective. (Note: the SB 24 works just fine in stereo headphone mode)
Any assistance in diagnosing this frustrating problem would be greatly appreciated.

  • DDTS-100 power plug problem please help!

I wanted to order the DDTS-100 online but I can only choose the 3 pin uk plug. What i need is a 2 pin plug, i don't know exactly which one(I live in the Netherlands.) How can I solve this?

just get the 3 pin one and then either use a converter (can be bought in most electronics stores) or see if it's possible to replace the cable entirely.

  • DDTS-100 - Very Loud Sub Hum

    Hey.
I recently bought a DDTS-100 from ebay, however, I didn't realise that it came from America (Im assuming) and the power adapter has a US to Uk Plug adapter.
I'm pretty sure in thinking that the adapter is causing a major hum, and I was wondering whether there are any solutions to this, or whether it is possible to buy a UK plug adapter? The hum is very, very loud, and its pretty impossible to use it as the hum is completly in the way!
Any help would be much appreciated
    Cheers,
    Alex

I just did the same thing except mine is from the UK and I live in the US! How funny. I need a native power supply because adapters aren't good for continuous use. If you wanna switch lets do it. Send me a private message. Later.

  • DDTS-100 Remote codes?

I finally jumped on the band wagon, and got an HD TV. I rarely use my Megaworks 650 system on my PC for its worth, so I'm moving the 650s to the living room to use with the home theater.
Just bought a Samsung 46" 650 series TV, and will be running it from Charter's HD Moxi box.
So, my issue is, when I'm watching TV/Movies, I do not wish to add another remote to the mix to adjust volume. Does anyone know of what the DDTS-100 remote might emmulate, so I can program the MOXI remote to control the volume?
    The Moxi Guide is:
    http://www.charter.com/Visitors/GETBINARY.xbin?ID=605
Charter is scheduled to swap out our non-HD Moxi to the HD version on Thursday. Their guide has an "Programming by search" feature, but looks to be timely.
Seems like it would be easier to know what the Creative remote might emmulate.
    Thanks in advance.

Can you view any of my photos?

Hello i'musing these set of speakers for 2.6 years and now decide tobuy decoder DDTS-100 but there is a problem ca't connect them and creative labs are saying this decoder is compatible with all speakers from creative !!!
Any information how to connect will be wellcome many thanks

Just connect them using your speaker audio cable from the decoder audio outputs jack to the speaker system audio inputs jack. The decoder user guide should also cover some simple guide for connection too which you can refer to.

  • DDTS-100 Decoder with Inspire 5500D 5.1 Speakers (DIN Problem!)

    Dear all,
I bought a DDTS-100 Decoder today, thinking it will improve connectivity and sound quality of my Inspire 5500D 5.1 Speaker System, but I have run into a bit of a problem. My system has a sub which every speaker is connected to and I have to have the DIN cable connected for controlling the speakers and sub but the DDTS-100 doesn't have a din slot so my speakers will not power on when connected to the ddts-100. Is there a way around this or will I have to take back my decoder. I hope there is a solution as I would be very thankful.
