De-activate appleID in sold iPod Touch 5
I recently sold my daughter's iPod Touch 5th generation. I reset it to factory settings from within the iPod settings. The new owner is not able to complete the setup as the iPod says that it is linked to an AppleID, which is mine. I removed the device from iCloud.com/find page. It no longer displays as a device that I own. She is still unable to complete the setup as the device still wants my AppleID password. Any suggestions?

Sign in to your iCloud account at www.icloud.com/find.
Click All Devices to open a list of devices linked to their account, then select the device to be removed. It should show a gray dot or the word “Offline” next to the device name.
Click "Remove from Account" to remove the device from your account.
After the device is removed from the your account, they should turn the device off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button located on the top-right side of the device. Then restart their device and proceed with device setup as they would normally.

If you and they did that correctly and it still can't be activated you could give them the password and then change it as soon as they confirm that they've done the process (though I can understand any reluctance to do that - you could suggest that they return the device to you if this is practicable, so that you can do this then having ensured that it's clean return it to them).

Not a 4G. Thats something I have never seen before. But then again, the thinner 4G wouldn't be able to sit still in the case of a bulky 2nd or 3rd gen. So if it isn't sliding and its in original packaging, I would trust it. No one would go through the trouble to spend money to make a mold to stick a knockoff in a case. I say its fine. Very frustrating. When I try to activate it via iTunes on my HP laptop, it won't do it either. Very frustrated and unimpressed.
You are running into the activation lock.

You have to either enter the Apple/iCloud ID and password in order to activate the iPod for use. Or you can try to dissassociate the iPod for that account by:

So I just sold my iPod Touch because I got a new iPhone 3GS. I sold it on eBay and the winner just emailed me saying that she can't purchase apps or podcasts because it's asking for my Authorization and Password. I did a restore twice before I shipped it, but I guess that didn't do all I needed it to do. So what do I tell her to do? Any help would be greatly appreciative.

tell her to connect in +recovery mode+ (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808) and restore as a new iPod. that will delete everything on the Touch and let her set it up as her own.

I cannot activate iMessage on my iPod touch
I get a "cannot activate iMessage" note when trying to sign in. iMessage works perfectly with my iPhone on the same network. I have restored the iPod. I have turned on and off wifi. I have adjusted DNs to 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4. I have reset the iPod. But no luck activating. I have also checked date and time are auto updated. Software is up to date. Location services is on. I have literally gone through all trouble shooting available online. Have I missed any tricks?

I sign on with my Apple Id and then it asks to verify the email address. Before I can change this it jumps back to the sign in screen. It's working fine on my daughter's ipod - what am I doing wrong???
Is the Date & Time configured correctly? Have you tried connecting to a different Wi-Fi network to see if that makes a difference?
Have you also tried a hard reset of the device? To reset the iPod, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

Facetime Activation on an iPod touch
I am trying to activate facetime on my iPod touch, and I know I am entering the correct Apple ID info, but it keeps telling me "Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." My network connection is fine! I can go online, ect. Help, anyone??
- Go to Settings>General>Time&Date and ensure that it is set to automatic
- Go to Settings>wifi and change the DNS to Google's 8.8.8.8 -
Hi My grandparents just bought an iPod Touch for me from Dubai, UAE. I can't see any facetime on the home screen nor in the settings. I've read that it's not possible. But is it possible if I get my OS updated again from India?
There is no way you can activate Facetime on an iPod touch purchased in the UAE. The government there required Apple to lock off Facetime at the hardware level and there's no way to unlock it. Reinstalling iOS, regardless of country, will not help. If you want Facetime, you will need to sell your UAE-version iPod and buy one there in India.

If FaceTime is not hidden by Restrictions (Settings>General<Restrictions) you got duped. iPods officially sold in Dubai and some other countries that prohibit FT do not have FT and there is not way to get FT on those iPods.

Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPod. The man who sold it to me said he bought it from another guy and sold it to me..So, I don't know what to do! you have a thin brick. I suspect your iPod was stolen or lost. I would turn it into the police since it is worthless to you if you can't get the previous owner to remove from their account -

Only you can activate your iPod by typing in your id and password, or you can remove a device from your account via http://icloud.com . If you can't remember your account id then do you have any of its downloads on your computer's iTunes : Recovering a forgotten iTunes Store account name ? If not then you could try http://iforgot.apple.com .
