De-authorizing files that where authorized older computers or HD images

I assume as many others, I have bought iTunes files which are still authorized on older computers (destroyed, not in our possession anymore) or have had their HD re-imaged. Is there a way to de-authorize authorizations that were made on older computers or on other HD images retrospectively?

No. If you've run out of authorizations or contact the iTunes Store staff, the authorization count on the servers can be reset to zero, but this itself doesn't affect any device other than an Apple TV in any way.

Add another page below the current one to use as a storage area. You can't use the grey area around the page for storing items you want to use later.

WHERE is DESKTOP folder on old HD? i.e. files that where on previous deskto

Bottom line, HD crashed, new install, new HD, this HD which won't boot is seen via USB external box, want to see what files where on the desktop before wiping.
Also, is there a secure way to erase the disk?

If there's a folder named Desktop Folder on the top level of the old disk, open it and look for the items. If there isn't a Desktop Folder or the Desktop Folder is empty, open the Users folder, and then look at the folders inside for one named Desktop. There will be one of these for each folder except for Shared which exists in the Users folder. There may also be another desktop folder at /private/var/root/Desktop/, but it's only accessible to the root user, and only exists if you logged in as root through the GUI at some point.
You can securely erase the disk from the Disk Utility, which is in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder.

Is it possible to save a picture/image file that is within an app?
The image in question cannot be shrunk, so using the iPhone built-in Screenshot function (by pressing both "Home" & "On/OffSleep/Wake" buttons simultaneously) only produces part of the image.

Generally in all Apple iOS apps, you can hold down on the image and the save image dialogue will pop up. Many third party developers adopt this method, but some also have other weird ways of doing it through menus. What appa re you trying to do this with?

Itunes says that I have five computers authorized, but I have only done this for one computer. I want to authorize a new computer but it won't let me. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

I have one computer authorized to connect with my ipad and ipod. I would like to authorize my husband's computer to enable home sharing, but keep getting the error that I have five computers authorized. Not sure how this is possible. I'm tempted to try to deauthorize all computers and start over, but fear that this may create new problems. Any ideas on where the issue is?

Deauthorizing all is definitely the way to go. You will just need to authorize your computer again after, as well as your husband's.

Out put quality after DVD authoring is less than .mov file that fcp source

Anyone know why I would be getting a notable drop in quality after i make a dvd?
going from HF11 Cannon shot at 17 mbps into FCP. then out to compressor and using the high quality dvd setting.
then when i play my dvd i notice for example jaggies on some objects yet if i look at the .mov file that was ignested into FCP that has almost no jaggies. is there some setting i'm missing?
everything was set at 16:9 1080x720.
I'm up to my pits in information overload.

Here are some of your options as you look toward HD encoding.
Using Toast, Encore, or FCS 3 you can move toward blu-ray authoring and encoding. In Toast and FCS 3 you can make AVCHD disks which are blu-ray disks put onto single or dual-layer DVDs which is a huge cost savings. Your encoding is limited to 17 Mbps, but in h.264 that will still allow for decent quality. Encore will let you design a complete disk but it doesn't make AVCHD disks - you'll need to jump through some hoops in order to take an Encore project (but it can be done). Here's a workflow for that. As a side note this workflow is for using Final Cut Express - in FCS you have the added benefit of being able to work with 23.98 fps timelines.
Your other option it to move toward digital outputs. You can use something like an AppleTV to playback HD content (it'll be reduced to either 960x540 @ 30 fps or 1280x720 @ 24 fps. Or you can use one of the various media streams on that market now (SlingCatch, Western Digital WDTV, etc.) Personally I'm a big fan of the WDTV from Western Digital. It's affordable (around $100) and plays back all kinds of formats in HD up to 1080p. Plus it reads from flash drives or hard drives via USB. You can encode MP4 files for these types of devices in QuickTime, export from FCP, MPEG Streamclip, Compressor, etc.

If a computer is authorized but is discarded withour deauthorizing, it continues to count as an authorized computer.
But, it is simple enough to "Deauthorize All" and then re-authorize just the ones that you are still really using.

I tried to sync my new iPod touch to my MacBook. iTunes told me that I have authorized more than 5 computers and therefore cannot go any further. I don't remember authorizing 5 computers. Can I find a list of these authorizations somewhere? I need to deauthorize at least one computer so I can authorize my current MacBook but how do I do that if I don't know where else I'm authorized?

The most common cause for this issue would be media present that is purchased with another Apple ID. When prompted to authorize the computer it may show a different Apple ID. Having deleted some Mail messages by mistake, I have had to recover them from TM. I can tell you that the recovery of mail messages will be done at the mailbox level. In my case it was half of the messages in a mailbox. So I recovered the complete mailbox from TM. Then I copied the messages from the recovered mailbox back into the mailbox I use in Mail. I hope that helps.
Please be aware that TM is a backup application and not an archival application. What that means is that if your TM drive gets full, it will get rid of older files which could be mail messages to make space for newer backups. You might want to consider archiving your mail instead of using TM if you need to maintain your mail messages for extended periods of time.

Where is the file that contains info on previous session info on a Mac? I would like to restore several windows and tabs I had open earlier, but the restore previous session menu item does not appear to be available. I had to install and use an older version of Firefox (3.6) to access a website (Fedtraveler.com) that is not compatible with Firefox 6 and is seems to have cleared out the previous session information. I thought I would use Mac OSX Time machine feature to restore the Firefox file where this the previous session info is kept but I don't know what it is called nor how to find it.

That is the file sessionstore.js in the Firefox Profile Folder.

What are the consequences of De-Authorizing all computers.

I've had an iTunes account for years and its only fairly recently that i've been a bit more aware of the authorizing of computers.
I've hit my limit of 5 but 3 of these are computers that i no longer own and don't have access to. I have made purchases, have an iPod Touch with Apps. What are the consequences of De-Authorizing all computers.
Will it cause me problems with my purchased content and registration of my iPod Touch (don't want to lose any content) or is it just a case of providing my apple id when first listening to purchased content.

You won't physically lose anything. You will just need to reauthorize the computer(s) that you actually have.

You could de authorise the current computer and reauthorise it to see if that resets it.
Otherwise go into your account page in iTunes store and Deauthorise all computers and then reauthorise yours. You should then just have one computer authorised

I only use iTunes on one computer and I just got a message confirming that I have authorized another computer when I haven't. I cannot find a way to turn the other authorization off as I did not do it in the first place.

Same thing is happening to me. I only have one computer (a MacBook) authorized with iTunes. Today, the drive crashed and I had to repair it and now iTunes indicates I have 2 computers authorized on my account. I followed the Knowledge Base article to deauthorize and reauthorize, it still shows 2 computers. This is really frustrating me!
