De-authorizing old fried computer

How do you de-authorize an old computer that is fried ?

You can install Elements on up to two computers, so if you’ve only installed it once, then you can just install it again on the new computer and not have problems.  However, if you’ve already installed it twice, or eventually will, then you can contact Adobe for deactivate that defunct computer on their end based on your ID and probably after asking you some questions.  I’d suggest starting up a chat with Adobe CS and see what they can do.

  • De-Authorizing Old (lost) Computer

I just had a Windows laptop replaced and need to "de-authorize" that computer so that I can authorize my replacement to play songs I've already purchased. I cannot get access to the old laptop - it's gone daddy gone. Is there another way to manually manage my authorizations? Would tech support help with this issue?

Go to the iTunes Music Store in iTunes, and click on your username in the upper right. It will prompt you for your password. Enter your password and continue to the 'Apple Account Information' page.
In the top round-edged box, you will see a "Deauthorize All" button. This will reset the count for authorized computers, but you may only do this once every 365 days. I recommended just waiting until you've used all of your accounts, so in case of an emergency you can use it. This will not however actually deauthorize a computer from playing your music; It just resets the count.

After getting a new desktop I downloaded iTunes and authorized my new computer and then de-authorized my old one,  When I try to update my 5S it says my phone is not authorized and list my wifes email address as the account holder and not mine.  How do I correct this. I am using Windows 8.1 .  My wife has never had an iTuunes account

    Hello Lakesidetom,
It sounds as though you are experiencing an issue with an Apple ID and authorizations. Based on your post, it sounds like you are familiar with the authorizing and deauthorizing process. The Apple ID in question (your wife's email) may be originating from the iPhone you are attempting to update. Is it possible that your wife created an Apple ID or iCloud account which is signed in on that iPhone? Below, I have included links to some resources that may help you determine if your wife has created an Apple ID:

  • HT1420 I have "authorized" my new computer--still not authorized to play itunes music associated with old apple id

I have "authorized" my new computer in itunes to play and sync old itunes library. However, not all songs can be played due to a continuing authority problem. Apparently, these old songs are associated with a old user apply id--and old--no longer accessible email address. What can I do to associate music (which I paid for) on an old outdated apple id to my current apple id?  Thank you!

Copy it from the other computer or from your backup copy of your other computer.

  • HT1420 I recently got a new operating system on my two-year old windows computer, but itunes says that I need to authorize my computer and I already have authorized five computers.  I think I should deauthorize all but does that deauthorize my ipad and ip

I recently had a new operating system installed on my two-year old windows computer.  iTunes wants me to authorize my computer (again) and then says that I already have five computers authorized.  Should I deauthorize all?  Would that affect my iPad and iPhone?  I may have old, non-functioning computers that are still authorized and should be removed.

Your past purchases are not on the computer.   By choosing download all, those purchases will download to the computer.
Once authorized to your iTunes account you can control the computer.
When syncing the iPad the first time you will get the warning " this iPad is synced with another computer, syncing will erase all contents and replace with the contents of this computer"
Say yes, this is what you wan to do.

  • Background Music Problem - "Not Authorized on this computer"

I m stuck in a loop and hope that somebody here has an idea how to help. I just bought a new iMac and transferred my music library over from my old computer using the migration assistant. I authorized the new computer in iTunes and all the music plays without a problem. However, when I try to add music from my iTunes library as a background track over video, I get an error message saying that I am not authorized to play the music. It then directs me to iTunes to authorize the computer but that tells me that I AM authorized.
So far, I have spoken with the iTunes department who tell me it is a problem on the iMovie side and the iMovie folks who direct me back to the iTunes department. If anyone has any idea how to solve this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm running the latest version of both apps.
    Thanks

    Hi
My list on this - may be of help.
    *No Audio*
Most common origin is use of audio from iTunes.
    Work around -
    • Select needed audio to one new playlist
    • Copy out this as an Audio-CD .aiff (not .mp3)
    • Use this in the movieproject
    Other origins are
    1. strange/ailient file formats as -
    • .mp3, .avi, .wmv etc
    • Convert them into .aiff 48kHz 16-bit and use this
    2. the Mac is set wrongly in regard of midi -
    • Close iMovie and other programs
    • Start GarageBand
    • Make a new GB-project and play some notes
    • Close GB and Save
    • Now try iMovie again
    3. No audio when playback in iMovie 1 to HD 6.
    a. in iMovie pref - deselect ”Playback via Camera”
    b. in System preferences - see that Audio out is not set to zero. Mine often does this
    without me knowing why.
    Stuttering audio and video
    1. FileVault is ON - Turn it off
    2. More than 50 audio files in a movie-project
Mix down to one audio clip
    3. Project is stored on one (USB) external hard disk - should be a FireWire one
    4. the External hard disk is not Mac OS Extended formatted - but
UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange and this will not work for Video.
    5. To little free space on internal boot hard disk.
I go for a minimum of 25Gb free space when project is imported and edited and this goes for
4x3 SD Video. For 16x9 HD my guess would be about 5 times more at least.
Neither Mac OS, iMovie or iDVD can address any other hard disk than the boot drive for it’s
scratch files. (Unlike Final Cut Express/Pro where You select scratch disk/s)
    6. Network storage - DOESN’T WORK
    Yours Bengt W

  • De-authorizing a crashed computer?

So... my old iBook's HD failed. It's a work computer and still under warranty so it has been sent back to apple. Meanwhile, I bought my own (yeah) and transfered all my music over to mine and don't intend on having purchased music on the other one.
The old work computer will come back to me, eventually, but it will be with a new HD. Have I just lost one of my authorizations?
    --L

Well, lost is perhaps a strong term. The old HD and install will still be authorized. There's no way of de-authorizing just that computer.
But, down the road when you find yourself maxed out (5 authorizations), you can de-authorize all computers and just re-authorize those that you want (theoretically at most 4 other computers) authorized under your account settings in the iTunes Store -- or you can email Apple Support through the form at http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/authorization/ saying "I need help with de-authorization" and they can de-authorize everything right now. It's a once-yearly thing, so choose wisely.

  • IPod not authorized on my computer

Just bought my first iPod (touch). Got it set up with my computer then realized I was sold an old version. So returned it for the newest version.
Now I've got the new one set up and got some apps but it says I don't have a machine authorized for my computer. How do I get the new one authorized? I removed the old one before I returned it.
    Thanks!

yes authorizing the compuer works. you go into itunes and Authorize it and then the application on the itouch/iphone would be able to run. The games were not working when i downloaded them but when i did that it works normal now.

  • Some apps saying "Computer is not Authorized" on new computer

I got a new Macbook Pro about a month ago (not the new new ones) and used Migration Assistant to get all my info over on the new one. Now, when I plug my iPhone into the new computer, only certain applications say "This Computer is not Authorized." When it prompts me to enter my username and password, I do, and it says "This Computer is already Authorized." My iTunes songs work fine, as do the other apps. This is only happening with 2 of my apps. Any ideas?
Also, it won't let me do updates to my apps. When I try to do them from the phone, it says I need to wait until I get to my computer. When I try from the computer, I get errors saying it couldn't update them on the phone. Any ideas on that one?
    Thanks for your help!

I am having a similar problem except I have a replacement iPhone instead of computer. I synced my old iPhone 3G, had it replaced due to a problem with the vibrate switch, and tried to restore/sync my new iPhone with all the apps purchased or free downloads from my old iPhone.
I'm getting the error saying some apps are not authorized on this computer. I tried the recommendation to deauthorize iTunes, quit, launch and reauthorize iTunes. But the iPhone sync still gives the same error.

  • My iPhone wont let me download some apps that i have payed for on on my account; it says my iPhone is not authorized for this computer, but it is.

My iPhone wont let me download some apps that i have payed for on on my account; it says my iPhone is not authorized for this computer, but it is.

No, iTunes never says an iPhone is not authorized.
This is occurring on a computer, correct?
Is the computer authorized for the account the media or apps were acquired with?

I was able to install CS2 on the Virtual XP Machine on my Windows 7 computer, but I cannot register or activate it. Adobe no longer supports activation. Is there a way I can keep using CS2? I need to get files back and forth to my coauthor. I also have CS6. I understand that files can go form 2 to 6, but not backwards. Thanks Robert

How do I retrieve my iTunes library from a broken computer onto another computer?? I've clicked on home sharing and also authorized the new computer to my account but still nothing!

It would help if you would describe what a 'broken' computer is. Did a truck run over it? Does it just not turn on? etc.
