De-authorizing old pcs?

I've owned several pcs over the years on 2 different Apple IDs.  Both accounts are up to their maximum allowable 5 pcs but I don't have access to the old ones to de-authorize them - some cases as with my latest PC the O/S needed re-installing so itunes recognises it as a new pc but there's no way of de-authorising the old one as it doesn't exist if you know what I mean.  Any way of doing this please?

"Note: If you no longer have access to a computer that is using one of your authorizations, you can deauthorize all of the computers associated with your account by following the steps at the bottom of About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization".

  • De-Authorizing Old (lost) Computer

I just had a Windows laptop replaced and need to "de-authorize" that computer so that I can authorize my replacement to play songs I've already purchased. I cannot get access to the old laptop - it's gone daddy gone. Is there another way to manually manage my authorizations? Would tech support help with this issue?

Go to the iTunes Music Store in iTunes, and click on your username in the upper right. It will prompt you for your password. Enter your password and continue to the 'Apple Account Information' page.
In the top round-edged box, you will see a "Deauthorize All" button. This will reset the count for authorized computers, but you may only do this once every 365 days. I recommended just waiting until you've used all of your accounts, so in case of an emergency you can use it. This will not however actually deauthorize a computer from playing your music; It just resets the count.

  • Authorizing old purchases

Long time ago I had to change my email address for my Apple ID.
Now, even if all my purchases still appear on my iTunes Store account/purchase history, I'm asked to authorize my computer with the former ID when I launch iTunes otherwise those old purchases will be removed from my iPhone...
    How can I prevent that?
I don't think I noticed it before the last update (current release is 11.1.3.8)
    Thanks

It has everything to do wtih teh problem.
Your computer is not authorized for the old account (since you cahnge the drive, it is seen as a new compuiter).

If I enter my current Apple ID and current password, I get a message saying " This computer is already authorized."  So if it is authorized, play the @$&%*!? thing!
Beause it is the songs on yrou old account that are not authorized.
There was no need to make new iTunes account. You should have simply updated the old account with new info.
However, since you already did this...
Then, under Apple ID it lists an old id that I had five years ago on a computer I do not even have any more.  Needless to say, I do not know the old password.

  • Authorizing Old iTunes purchases

I purchased a new iPod Classic and had to move my iTunes library to a PC in order to use my new iPod as my Mac had an older operating system. All of my iTunes purchases authorized except for 35 purchases that were probably made when the limit was 3 computers - not 5. How can I gain access to these songs again?
    Thanks!

You're supposed to transfer them from the old computer to the new one instead of redownloading them from the iTunes Store. Except for applications, Apple pays a royalty for each download and therefore usually doesn't allow free redownloads.

  • Deauthorizing Old PCs

Unfortunately for the longest time, I wasn't aware of how to Deauthorize my PC properly before reformatting my HD. Now I can't listen to my purchased music because I have 5 authorized computers. Is there any way that I can deauthorize all previous PCs all at once and only play my stuff on my current machine?

Follow the third set of instructions in this article, and then reauthorize your computer.

    Thx for your help !!

If you go to the top of this page and click "Support" then type "authorize" in the search abr you will get articles such as this one that will answer your question:

  • De-authorizing old fried computer

How do you de-authorize an old computer that is fried ?

You can install Elements on up to two computers, so if you’ve only installed it once, then you can just install it again on the new computer and not have problems.  However, if you’ve already installed it twice, or eventually will, then you can contact Adobe for deactivate that defunct computer on their end based on your ID and probably after asking you some questions.  I’d suggest starting up a chat with Adobe CS and see what they can do.

  • Trouble authorizing old songs

I keep typing in my ID and password to authorize my computer to play songs I have had for years on my itunes and they still won't play even after I get the message that this computer has been authorized it still asks me to authorize again... anyone have an idea to help me?

I am having the exact same problem. I'm asked again and again to authorize only one song from a purchased album. The rest of the album plays just fine! It's completely aggravating. Like you, I have tried all of the troubleshooting ideas presented in the forums. I wish there were a way to contact the iTunes store directly about this.

  • De-authorizing old computers that I no longer own

how do I de-authorize 2 computers I no longer own? Being a novice to ipods and computers this never occurred to me as being a problem at the time when they were given away.

If you've got 5 computers authorised for the account in question, and you need to free up authorizations, I'd do a "Deauthorize All" from one of the computers you have access to, and then reauthorize the computers you have access to.
For instructions, see the following document:

  • HT1349 De-authorizing old computers

I don't have a mac computer but need to de-authorize computers that are no longer in use.  Where do I find the serial number for the itunes program that I use?

Deauthorizing all your computers does not in any way affect your music library.
With that said, and independently of deauthorizing, you should always have a backup of your important files including your music. What happens if your PC dies? All your music goes with it?
Anyway, you can simply move the iTunes folder to a new location on your hard drive if you want to be safe during the deathorizing process.

  • Old PCs question

Hello everyone. I need FlashPlayer installed, but my processor provides only 2.0GHz, so 'initalization' of installation couldn't pass. Which version of player I should install?

I've looked and looked, but all Adobe has posted are requirements for 11.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
I'd recommend 10.3.183 from that link. If it won't install, then 9.0.280

  • I have a new computer that I want to authorize. But I must deauthorize the last 4 authorized PCs that I no longer have access to. How can I deauthorize previous PCs selectively?

I authorized 5 PCs in the past in different places. Now I want to deauthorize each of them selectively. I can not deauthorize all as I need one to remain authorized. So, how can I deauthorize the last 4 PCs?
    Thanks.

Individual computers can only be deauthorised directly on them, but you can 'deauthorise all' (which you can do once every 12 months) and you can then authorise/reauthorise the computers that you still have and need - deauthorising a computer doesn't remove any content from it, it just means that you can't use/play your iTunes downloads on it until you reauthorise it : authorising and deauthorising.

  • Account shows 4 authorized computers, but I only have 2

Account must show old computers on the list as I only have 2 computers that share the same account. How can I get the old computers off the account?

If you didn't deauthorize those 2 old PCs before you got rid of them, you can get the authorizations back once you reach the limit of 5 PCs.
When you have 5 PCs authorized, a button to Deauthorize All will show up in your account.
Don't worry about it until you hit 5, in other words.
