I was able to resolve this issue by installing 11.1.1.2 full version into the existing middleware home, and then applying patch 11.1.1.5.
Thanks,

  • 2 products installed in this Oracle Home

Our security scanner is indicating that our Oracle 10g install has a vulnerability that should have been address with the install of CPUApr2011.  Our server is patched with every 10g CPU until end of life in Aug 2013, so I know it is a false failure.  But one question that I have is that the opatch lsinventory command indicates that I have 2 products installed in my Oracle home:
    Installed Top-level Products (2):
    Oracle Database 10g                                                                    10.2.0.1.0
    Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Patch Set 4                           10.2.0.5.0a
There are 2 products installed in this Oracle Home.
What is that actually telling me?  Do I actually have 2 installs of Oracle in that home?
    Thanks in advance

You have installed 10.2.0.1.0 released base, and over this 10.2.0.5. You release is 10.2.0.5.
    You can verify this by
    i) from sqlplus execute at command line "sqlplus -version"
ii) into the database "select * from v$version"

  • Installed 2 10g oracle homes and get ora-12557

    hi,
I have installed 2 oracle 10g homes and now cannot connect to sqlplus as sysdba
the error is 0ra-12557, TNS protocol adapter not loasdable.
the installation is on windows 2003 server
everything was fine until the second oracle home was added.
    help is appreciated

Typically this a PATH variable problem
The golden rule is to install the oldest product first.
Then make sure you path has the right ORACLE_HOME/bin 's
    In the right order.
Remeber if you run say sqlplus from ORACLE-HOME1 it will look in
ORACLE_HOME1/network/admin for its tnsnames files etc
If you run sqlplus fom ORACLE_HOME2 then it will look in
    ORACLE_HOME2/network/badmin
I always clone the network config files so they are the same in all homes.
You have to be a little bit careful about this. FOr instance I have forms 6i wihich uses Net 8 so I can't exacly clode the tnsnames etries.
    But you get the picture.
And generally make sure ORACLE_HOME is not set in your windows environment.
    Ths will cause problems.

  • Check details about which products are installed in the Oracle Home

    I cheked one PDF: <epm-tips-issue 73-102>
This command should return with details but giving some errors-
    1)
opatch lsinventory -oh /scratch/aime1/work/Oracle/Middleware/EPMSystem11R1 -jre /scratch/
    aime1/work/Oracle/Middleware/jdk160_11
    2)
opatch lsinventory –detail -oh /scratch/aime1/work/Oracle/Middleware/EPMSystem11R1 -jre /
    scratch/aime1/work/Oracle/Middleware/jdk160_11
Please suggest if i am making mistake as i am using as it is (not making any alteration>
Please suggest any other better process if possible
    Regards
    Kumar

What errors are you getting, I take it you have updated the Oracle home and JRE location to match your environment.

  • How to select Oracle Home

Probably an embarrasingly simple question but nevertheless it has me stuck. I just installed Oracle 11gR1 on a windows server 2008 box and now have both Oracle 10gR2 and Oracle 11gR1 installed. The Oracle Home Selector is no longer available from the start menu and the installation guide suggests using the Universal Installer to choose between homes. I am unable to figure out how to do this. Please guide me. Thanks.
    Bill Wagman

The HomeSelector has now been folded into OUI. The following steps would help in accomplishing this task:
Bring up the Oracle 10g Installer and Click on Installed Products. Then go to the Environment tab.
Here you can find the HomeSelector which uses the OUI inventory to list the homes. The old Home Selector used the registry entries to look at the installed homes. But in Oracle 10g the registry entries use the KEY_ format.
Hence the old Home Selector will not be able to see Oracle 10g homes in the list. If you want to switch between 8i, 9i and 10g Homes, use the Home Selector which is available inside the 10g installer.

  • Installing 2 different Oracle DBs

Can you install both Oracle 10g and Oracle 11g on the same computer?

You can install as many Oracle Homes as your host is able to manage. You should be aware that if you are using the same listener port for all the oracle homes you should use the one at the latest oracle version, i.e. if you are planning to install both, 10g and 11g, you should use the 11g listener to perform connections to the 10g databases.
One more thing you should be aware of is the PATH environment variable, you should properly handle it, otherwise you may face estrange behaviors.

  • Multiple Oracle Home support 9i and 10g

I have 9i and 10g clients installed in separate oracle homes.
When I switch to 9i home my application is still using 10g OLE DB.
Is there any way that I can activate 9i OLEDB when 9i home is active and vice-versa?
    Thanks

Have you gone through the chapter on troubleshooting replication problems in the Advanced Replication manual? In particular, the sections on DML changes not being asynchronously propagated and diagnosing problems with materialized views?

  • Regarding Multiple Oracle Homes

    Hello,
Does all of the Oracle products support multiple homes ?
Can oracle 8i and oracle 8 products be kept in same oracle home ?
    thanks
    null

    Hi Raj,
To answer your first question, No, not all of Oracle products
support multiple homes. All Oracle7 products and all release
8.0.3 are non-multiple Oracle home products. Oracle 8i lite
cannot support multiple oracle homes either.
In regards to your second question, no Oracle8i and and Oracle
8.0 products cannot be kept in the same Oracle home. Releases
prior to 8.1.3 cannot be installed in an Oracle home that was
    created by a release of 8.1.3, 8.1.4 or 8.1.5.
    Hope that helps,

  • Can't install in the Oracle folder .

During setting up the installation, it doesn't allows me to install in the oracle home directory.
Should I install in a new directory ?

    Hi,
The OMWB uses specific database dependencies. So OMWB 9.2.0.1.0 will not install into an Oracle 9iR1
home only into an Oracle9R2 home.
Luckly the OMWB is bundeled with all the dependencies it needs, so you can install it into its own home (directory)
    Example:
    D:\OMWB
    I hope this helps,
    Dermot.

  • Multiple oracle homes on unix?

We have 3 databases with the same oracle home. we want to move them to separate oracle homes(not going to explain the reasons, but the decision was done).
so we install 2 more oracle homes. How do we point databases to different oracle homes?

You do not need to move the database datafiles, copy them or anything of the sort.
Backing them up is always a good idea before making changes to the system like this.
Here are the things that I have found that you need to be aware of you the unix platforms.
/etc/oratab (and sometimes /var/opt/oracle/oratab depending on whom setup the system and how). This tells is a file that is used to tell Oracle the home of each database. (Research oratab for more detailed information)
If you are going to apply patches to the different Oracle Homes I find often that I have to have my System Administrator change the oraInst.loc file to point to the correct Oracle Home that I want to patch. (Research oraInst.loc file for more detailed information).
Is management going to make you have a different listener for each database? If so so research Multiple Listeners for Oracle databases for more detailed information.
And of course you did need to hit the highlights that everyone else has mentioned about the configuration files:
Move everything under the current $ORACLE_HOME/dbs directory to the $NEWORACLE_HOME/dbs directory for the database being moved.
Edit the files as needed ( you don't HAVE to change things like the controlfile location or the dump file locations, but you may want to).

  • CRS install fails Oracle home incompatibility checks  ( 10G )

    Hi,
I'm trying to install RAC for 10.2.0 . The first step is to install cluster Ready Services ( On red hat linux ) . When it does the product specific prequisite checks, it fails on "Checking for Oracle home incompatibilities".
I get the error " Oracle clusterware cannot be installed into an existing oracle home".
I did a previous attempt at an install which failed. I have completely deleted the
/oracle/product/10.2.0/crs directory which was previously created.
If I check the environment variables, I get :
    [oracle@rac1 db_1]$ env | grep -i home
    HOME=/oracle
    ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1
So, in my thinking there is no trace now of a previous home for CRS.
So why am I getting the error ??
    Thanks
    George

It seems taht you have not cleared the inventory..As menioned earlier use OUI to remove the oracle_home from inventory. In case you do not wish to use the existing ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1 or any other Oracle Installation on this server, then you can go ahead and remove the inventory itself.
You can use Note:239998.1 for the various files to be removed for cleaning up CRS..

  • Re-config of ssh fails after changing Oracle Home while installing RAC

    Hi,
    Red Hat Linux 5
    Oracle 10.2.0.1 RAC installation
While installing Oracle RAC under ORACLE user we are Configuring ssh for the first time works fine. If any changes done (Eg: i changed the home path of oracle user), then the ssh configuration will prompt for password no matter how many times you reconfigure the ssh.
I have created another OS user orclusr instead of oracle to over come this issue
Have any one came across this situation or finds a solution, please reply back.

    Hi,
One of the most important reasons for building Real Application Clusters is stability.
Changing the Oracle Home, after the cluster is built is about 180 degrees counter to this philosophy.
I agree with this but we face the error while installing oracle cluster
    here is my scenario:
create oracle user on both the nodes(rac1,rac2):
    1) my first oracle home - /home/oraclePart of thinking these things through before proceeding is to recognize that the concept of ORACLE_HOME is not the same as the $HOME directory for the OS user who happens to be named "oracle".
Since you appear to be still in the process of building this system, I'd suggest you go back to square one while you can.
    2) configure ssh on both the nodes
    3) due to sapce constraint in /home mount point we changed the oracle home to /oracle
    4) so my new oracle home is /oracle
    5) re-configuring of ssh is working fine, no error's
    6) but if i issue the below command ssg date rac2 it prompts for password why ?
Any possibility to over come this issue ?

  • Oracle developer suite installed under a different Oracle Home

    I have Oracle 10g r2 installed on a RHAS4 server.
I installed Oracle developer suite 10.1 on this server. In the installation procedures, there are specific instructions to not install it under the ORACLE_HOME for an existing database installation.
Oracle was already installed under /usr/lib/oracle (don't ask me why, I didn't do it).
I installed oracle developer suite under /oracle/dev. If I set ORACLE_HOME to /usr/lib/oracle, proc responds with:
Symbol `kpccapCTarr' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking
PCC-F-NOERRFILE, unable to open error message file, facility PR2
If I set ORACLE_HOME to /oracle/dev, it works correctly.
This appears to require me to switch my oracle home setting each time I switch between using Pro*C and sqlplus. This in very inconvenient. I have worked on many, many systems in the past which had one ORACLE_HOME for both the RDBMS and the development tools.
Is this a new constraint introduced by Oracle? Where does this restriction come from?
Is there something I don't understand and have I installed the developer suite incorrectly?

It looks to me this is a mess; i have installed oracle 10g on rhas4 and it didn't install under that folder. I'd suggest to run oui/run installer and show what are the oracle_homes found there; maybe you should reinstall it in the proper locations, under different accounts, etc.

your 10.2 server uses obviously some different client libraries than your 10,1 developer version.
You may check this with ldd proc and ldd sqlplus.
Perhaps you can live with a wrapper script for starting sqlplus or proc meanwhile ?

  • Installing & Uninstalling Oracle Home

We have installed multiple Oracle Versions in same machine like below.
    Ora9i_db_Hom
    - Oracle 9i Database 9.2.0.2.0
    - Oracle Universal Installer 10.1.0.2.0
    - Oracle 9iR2 Patch Set 9.2.0.5
    - Oracle 9iR2 Patch Set 9.2.0.8
    OraDb11g_home1
    - Oracle Database 11g 11.2.0.1.0
    Ora_9205_Home
    - Oracle 9i Database 9.2.0.2.0
    - Oracle Universal Installer 10.1.0.2.0
    - Oracle 9iR2 Patch Set 9.2.0.5
    - Oracle 9iR2 Patch Set 9.2.0.8
    OraDB10g_Home1
    - Oracle Database 10g 10.2.0.1.0
    - Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Patch Set 3 10.2.0.4.0
The reason for this installation was to upgrade 9i & 10g Database to 11g. We upgraded all the database to 11g and its running on 11g now. Now I would like to remove the old versions (9i & 10g).
    My Question is,
    1. If I Remove 9i Oracle Home using OUI, will it effect any of the database that is running on the machine?
    2. For some reason if I want to install 9i again after uninstalling, will that be a problem?
Edited by: ManoRangasamy on Nov 30, 2010 9:42 AM

Well, the obvious answer about databases being affected has to include any 9i database if the 9i home/software is removed. Other than that, no, assuming none of the other databases have any dependencies related to 9i (e.g., database links).
If you think you may have to reinstall 9i, don't remove it in the first place. If you can afford the disk space to keep it, what is the harm in keeping it on the system? You really don't want the brain damage of messing around with older versions of OUI.
