De-install Leopard Because Cameras/Scanners/Itouch No Longer Recognized

Leopard no longer recognizes my Canon SD600 or Epson 3170 in Image Capture. The whole OS has a MS instability feel. Itouch is no longer recognized. What's up??
Anyway Is there an easy way I can back out of the Leopard upgrade without blowing away all of my date files?

Hi Chris Metz;
If you restore the backup you took before the upgrade to Leopard, that is the easiest way to get back to Tiger.
I have to say that none of my systems or those that I help to support are suffering from any problems with Leopard.

  • Installed Leopard and my iPod is no longer recognized

I upgraded to Leopard the day FedEx delivered it. Everything seemed fine but this morning I dropped my iPod into its doc and it's not recognized. It has power and shows the battery charging and the screen displays the "don't connect" symbol. However it does not appear on the desktop and itunes does not acknowledge it. My external hard drive which is also a firewire 400 device is working just fine. It's a gen 3 iPod and it worked under 10.4.
I apologize of this has been asked. I didn't find anything when searching. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks
    LaVonne

i have the original problem with mine, but resetting my ipod doesn't help. it's stuck on the "do not disconnect" screen and my computer is not recognizing it at all. even after unplugging the ipod, the "do not disconnect" screen stays up and the only way to get it off it to reset it.
it also says that the computer is charging it, but when i turn the ipod on regularly, the battery life hasn't changed at all, even after being plugged in for 30 minutes.

  • After installing Leopard 10.5.3 Mail no longer works in SSL

After installing Leopard 10.5.3 Mail no longer supports SSL (Port 993) with password authentication. Setting it back to Port 143 seems to be fine. While this is not a problem at home when I am on the road it is a definite problem. Are other users finding similar problems? What are the work arounds (besides changing mail programs)?

    No, all certificates are fine.
Three months on 10.5.3? Really? It seems to me that we had 10.5.2 three months ago.
Anyway, it seems that the mail problem may have been a coincidence with the release of 10.5.3 -- mail servers seem to be back up and mail, both SSL and non-SSL seem to be working as if 0730 EDT.
This then becomes more of an Apple problem of letting the community know that mail is down -- and that problems are most likely not related to the update of Leopard. This would be particularly helpful since many of us (very many, I suspect) have the auto update configuration for doing system updates turned on.

  • ITouch no longer recognized after installing iTunes 8 and Leopard

I recently installed the new version of iTunes, which prompted me to download the new version of Quicktime, which then prompted me to install Leopard, which I did. Now I have the new version of iTunes, but my iTouch is no longer coming up as a recognized device. My connecting cable still works because my iTouch is charging when I connect it to my Powerbook, but the device is not recognized by my computer, and I've run out of options. I have tried restarting my iTouch, and also using a different connecting cable-- nothing works. Any advice?
    Thanks a million.

    Hello,
Just wanted to make sure you've also restarted the computer, in addition to restarting the iPod touch. For the time being, try to connect the iPod with the USB cable that came with it, and make sure it's being connected directly to the computer, and not through any external USB hubs or anything of the sort. Also, if you haven't tried this, try connecting the iPod to a different USB port.
Since installing Leopard, double check your Software Updates to make sure there's nothing else pending that you might need. (Just click on Software Update in your Apple menu).
If that hasn't worked it out, you might try reinstalling Apple Mobile Device Support, which is what allows the iPod touch to communicate with your computer and iTunes.
First, drag iTunes from your Applications folder to the Trash.
    Then, delete these files:
    (1) AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg located in: Macintosh HD/Library/Receipts/
    (2) AppleMobileDevice.kext located in: Macintosh HD/System/Library/Extensions/
    Restart your computer
    Download and install iTunes again

  • Workflow 2.6.3. install terminated because a 10g database is not recognized

The installation of workflow 2.6.3 was terminated by the configuration assistant because the wfdbck10.sql script did not find a 10g database. When checking the script i found a bad sql statement that will produce an error (a select to_number('10g') from dual ...). I found a entry in metalink that say for a similar problem that the solution is not to call this script or change the script. I correct it so it doesn't crash but the result is the same. I think the script has to return a given value i don't know. I check all scripts but didn't find any call to this script. It is something called directly by the assistance i suppose. I'm blocked and don't know how to solve this installation problem. Some help will be very appreciated.

Has you can see the script is executed ... so tnsnames and password are correct. Yes I will install it in a windows xp sp2 machine (multiple home, but in the main home and all seem to be correct).

  • Installed iTunes 10 - now iPod is no longer recognized

I have tried for the last 4+ hours to get my iPod to work with iTunes 10 but to no avail. I am SO SORRY I downloaded this buggy program! I never had a problem before installing iTunes 10 now I'm stuck. I've tried uninstalling it and installing older versions but I keep getting an error message each time saying I can't open iTunes because it was installed with a newer version. I don't understand it. I uninstalled iTunes 10 but it is like it is still on my computer - keeping any older versions of iTunes to run. I also get an error message each time I reboot telling me that a synch file is missing from iTunes. Uninstalling and re-installing the newest version doesn't work either. Neither does running a 'repair' program. I guess until Apple offers a patch or they fix iTunes 10 I won't be using iTunes. Please be warned - iTunes 10 is full of problems. I would stay away from it until Apple decides to fix it.

    Additional information:
The program iTunes is not started at this moment.
When I connect my iPod Nano 5e Gen to the USB-port of my computer with Windows XP. The ipod is recognised by Windows XP as an drive within the explorer/my conputer.
Then after a while iTunes starts and gives the message that the iPod can't be identified. And the iPod has disappeared from the explorer as an drive !! Further I can't get with my iPod in iTunes. What goes wrong?

  • Updated iTouch no longer recognized on my iTunes 9

I updated my iPod Touch (2G) on my work computer and now it's not recognized by my home computer, which is is an old Powerbook, where I can't install/upgrade to iTunes 10.
Is there any way I can downgrade the iPod Touch back to a compatible version? Without losing the data on it (particularly the calendar)?

So is it completely hopeless? I have to reset my iPod Touch and lose all my data?

  • So I installed leopard on my g5, and nothing changed.....

Okay, well, I suppose some things changed, but many features I'm supposed to now have, aren't there for me to use.
I have an imac g5, I got it a few years ago, and I decided to purchase and install leopard because I was really looking forward to the video feature in imovie hd that lets me record isight (something I couldn't do with my older version of imovie) The installation went fine with no problems, however upon starting to use leopard I found that though I had the new imovie, there was no way to record isight.
I set the file to a "isight" file, but when I moved it to camera it still gave me the "no camera connected" I thought this was odd, because my sister also installed this update on her laptop awhile ago, and the camera worked fine.
Going to other programs, I loaded ichat, curious to see what the "new background" feature was you could get behind you and found that though the options WERE there, I couldn't click on them, or access them at all.
The video feature in iphoto also shuts iphoto down completely, keeping me from running that. (Iphoto also runs SO MUCH SLOWER.)
Infact, my whole computer runs quite noticeably slower. And though I assumed I'd get used to it at first, it is just really too slow for me to handle.
So, did I do something wrong? Why is it that although I have these new programs they don't work or have the features they are supposed to? And is there anything I can do to fix this and speed up my slow computer?
Thank you very much. I'm not sure if I provided the correct information to be helped (see username) but if more information is needed please tell me so I can attempt to clarify.
    Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    A few things to clairly.
    1. Leopard does not include a new version of iMovie. What are you talking about?
    2. How much RAM (memory) does your iMac have?
    3. You only seem to be mentioning iLife apps (iMovie, iPhoto, iDVD, iWeb, and Garageband make up iLife). Are you talking about an upgrade to iLife '08? Leopard is an operating system, and it does not include iMovie or iPhoto.

  • Cannot install Leopard on Intel Macbook

I have an Intel Macbook (2GHz, 2GB RAM, 160GB HD) with OS 10.4.11 installed, and am trying to upgrade to 10.5 with a retail version of Leopard. However, when I attempt to boot from the install disc (which I can successfully do), I cannot install Leopard because of an error message that it "cannot be installed on this machine."
    Any help/advice?

    Check out this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1940?viewlocale=en_US
Is the Leopard DVD a complete retail version (not an update)?
Is your MBP a very recent one? If you you need a very recent version of the install DVD.
Is your HD formatted/partitioned properly for Leopard (GUID, HFS+)?
You may need to backup your Tiger install (SuperDuper or CCC clone is perfect) and then do an erase and install of Leopard on a blank HD. You can always boot into Tiger (as I do) from the backup, and you can migrate from the Tiger BU to Leopard.

  • Had to re-install Leopard....3 times, need help!!

    Hey guys
I had to re-install leopard because I had some HD issues.
Now, I re-installed Leopard, but did it where it would save an archive of my old system files.
I finally got the installation to work on my third try (the previous two times, my macbook wouldn't boot afterward)
Now my macbook boots up, but I only have 16 GB space left (I should have 40 gb or so after installing Leopard.
For me to transfer my old files over using imigration utility, it's 25 gb total, but I only have 16 gb left!! I'm assuming the previous two leopards took up a lot of HD space. Is there any way for me to get rid of them to clear space so I can move my old files back onto my macbook?
Any help would be appreciated!! I'm in a tight spot right now
    thanks!

I had one of those kernell panic errors.
Which I believe is a software issue?
I just need my old files prior to reinstalling leopard which are still on my macbook.
Do I just need to backup my old files to an external HD and then reinstall leopard (with a clean sweep of my entire HD) and then put my old files back over to the macbook?
Is there anyway for me to just boot up my "old desktop" with all of my desktop files and applications.
I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to do this. I don't think my previous issue was an HD error as much as a software one.
Thanks for the replies guys, itis much appreciated!

Have you used google and looked on the net for information? Just because a company goes belly-up does not mean all information about their products disppears.
I just did a quick search and turned up lots of information, but since you did not specify anything I refer it back to you - - just google for it.

  • Installing Leopard onto a laptop with a broken internal DVD drive?

I'm trying to install Leopard onto my PowerBook G4 (yes, long past the warranty but she's an old workhorse). The internal DVD "super" drive has been broken for a couple of years, so I've got a nice, fast, solid Sony external USB 2.0 DVD/CD player/burner.
Just now I inserted the install disk into the drive. The disk mounted. Install window popped up automatically. Clicked the button to restart and install... the Mac restarts alright, but there's no installation happening (and no error message to tell me what's happening).
I've been searching the documentation and this forum and so far I'm stumped. Can anyone shed any light on this?
Is it simply impossible to install Leopard from an external USB drive? If so, is there a non-disk method anyone can suggest?

Please post the specs on your g4, lets make sure its possible first, then someone here can help get you going.
And to add to that, I am thinking that it would have to be a firewire disk drive to boot (?? Anyone?)
I also have to agree with Jeff, If you have another mac with a working dvd drive, or know someone (use beer as payment ) with a mac that would be quick and easy. If you do it as jeff suggests, then both macs need to be the same, or if they are different, you can put the disk in the borrowed mac, shut it down and restart holding the T key, putting borrowed mac into target mode, then hook you mac and borrowed mac together with a firewire cable, start your mac holding the alt/option key which will bring you to the disk selection screen, pick the Leopard disk and it should start the installation.
Make sure when you get to the point in the installer where it asks you which disk you want to install to, make sure you select your mac (as the borrowed mac's hdd will show up also)
The above method basically turns the borrowed mac into an external firewire DVD drive. K

I had to delete everything on my computer and install the operating system again , but I had to install Snow Leopard because it was the cd that came with the computer when I bought it. The problem is that I had already paid for the OS Lion and even had upgraded to the Mavericks . I do not think it's fair to have to pay again and I would like to upgrade my operating system without having to pay again for the same system.

    Hi anatuta,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you are trying to upgrade your Mac to a newer version of OS X, after completing a fresh install of Snow Leopard.
If you have already purchased and downloaded OS X Lion and Mavericks, you should be able to find these items in the Purchased section of the Mac App Store.
You may find the steps in this article helpful with finding the items:

If you do not see the items in the Purchased section, they may be hidden:
