De-noise Adjustment not saving!
HELP!! I am editing photos in IPHOTO and when I open the Adjustment Toolbox and "de-noise" a photo, it WILL NOT save my changes anymore!
I can make all sorts of other adjustments to the highlights, shadows, contrast, etc., but the de-noise edits will not reflect on the photo once I click DONE and exit the edit mode.
If I select the photo again and click EDIT then the de-noise changes I made will show back up, but not outside of the edit screen.
This is a new problem, last week when I made de-noise adjustments, it worked and saved on all my photos.
Anyone have any ideas on WHY this is happening now and how to fix it?

Yes, I have been struggling with this for weeks... and the message from Madison explains it all...
You will only see this happening on large images because the iPhoto preview at less than 100% cancels the effect of de-noise. But if you open the modified image in a external software and display it at 100% you will notice that the de-noise is actually there.
The work around to have a proper display in iPhoto is to resize the picture to the actual size of your screen, and then start applying effects such as de-noise.

Red Eye Adjustment not saved (completely)
After upgrading my library, I tried editing some photos.
On one, I made red-eye adjustment that looked just fine--that is until I saved the edit. Once saved, the red-eye correction was different (and not as complete) as I had seen in the edit window. Some of the corrections were good, but one I could not get to save properly!
Anyone else having this problem? Or better yet, know of a workaround or fix?

iMac 15" G4 800MHz Mac OS X (10.4.4)I'm having the exact same thing. I make red-eye adjustments, it says it's saving, but the red-eye tool changes are NOT saved. Here are some things I've tried doing before re-trying the red-eye tool, none of which have fixed the problem:
1. Making other edits in iPhoto and saving them first.
2. Making other edits in photoshop and saving them first.
3. Duplicating the image in iPhoto.
4. Reverting to original and starting over.
5. Exporting the photo and re-importing it.
6. Exporting the photo, editing it in Photoshop, and reimporting it.
7. Exporting the original TIFF, converting to PNG, and re-importing it.
8. Exporting the original TIFF, converting to JPEG, and re-importing it.
9. Exporting the TIFF, scaling it down slightly, and re-importing it.
10. Cropping it.
11. Exporting as TIFF, downsizing to 2,000 pixels wide, and re-importing it.
Here's what did work:
- Exporting it as a jpeg scaled down from 3004 pixels wide to 2000 pixels wide and re-importing it.
- Exporting as a TIFF, scaling down to 1000 pixels wide, and reimporting it.
NOTE that scaling it down to a 2000 pixel wide JPEG allows the edit to work, but scaling down to a 2000 pixel TIFF does NOT! Yet scaling it down further as a TIFF does work! I also tried scaling it down just slightly as a JPEG- from 3004 to 3000 pixels, which did NOT work.
I have no idea what's going on, but it's sure annoying. The red eye tool makes perfect adjustments, and then anytime I leave that image and go back to it, the changes are not there, despite iPhoto saying "saving changes."
I'd be glad to send a test image this happens to to Apple, if anyone wants it, because this is definitely a bug, and an annoying one. It doesn't happen with most images, so if Apple doesn't happen to have an image around that this happens to, they won't be able to re-create the bug for testing.

Why is my Noise Layer (with Levels Adjustment) not saving correctly?
I'm hoping this is an easy fix, but this problem has me all twisted...
I have an image built in Photoshop with a Noise layer playing the role of stars on a mainly black background with a Levels Adjustment cleaning up the lighting to dumb it down, but when I go to save the image (in either jpeg or png), that same noise layer bypasses the Adjustment and shines through, distorting the whole image... I simply just want it to save what I have on the screen, but as soon as I go to save, it merges the layers and the noise comes through extremely harsh out of nowhere...
Attached are examples of the difference of before and after the save... (and the "after" save is a bit more harsh than its displayed here, but you get the point)The top larger image is the "after" I save (.png form), the screenshot within photoshop is the "before"...
I've also tried to the merge layers beforehand as well, but it actually just displays the image as if it were the saved version, with the noise coming through extremely hard. I just didn't save it yet.

I'm using Preview with a MacBook Pro and MacOS 10.6.8. When adjusting sharpness in the Adjust Colour tool, images are not saved. Any hint? Thanks.
I too experienced the same issue. Here are my details:
Recently I bought a 15” Macbook Pro and last night I tried to connect and use a Edirol FA/66 Firewire 400 connected outboard audio interface using a Firewire 400 to 800 adapter then connected to a Firewire 800 to Thunderbolt adapter since the MBP doesn’t have a native Firewire port. What I observed is that the Edirol was not getting power from the bus nor did the MBP (running Yosemite) recognize the Edriol. At first I thought there was a problem with the Edirol since I haven’t used it in a while but when I connected it to an older MBP that has a native Firewire port, it worked normally. Is there a known issue with these sorts of external audio interfaces working properly with newer MBP running Yosemite? I’m hoping that a software update will fix this issue. -
Changes done in Camera Raw are not saving to be usable in PS or other programs.
I am using CS6 with windows 7.
I accidentally took a heap of photos in jpeg. I edited them in Camera Raw - then save the changes in jpeg format but still no changes showing in PS. I have tried Save As, Done, Open image but the changes are not appearing in my PSPenny,
The button at bottom, "Open Image", doesn't mean "open an image in Camera Raw". It means "open the currently displayed image in a new document in Photoshop".
"Open Image" will pass the adjusted image that you are viewing, not the file itself, to Photoshop where a new document will open and contain the image. The current Camera Raw adjustments for the file it has open will simultaneously be saved and Camera Raw will close.
Hold down Shift key to see the button change to "Open Object" which will result in a new Photoshop document being opened containing a Smart Object which encloses an independant duplicate of the file and adjustments which you are currently viewing in Camera Raw. The current Camera Raw adjustments for the file it has open will simultaneously be saved and Camera Raw will close.
Hold down Option/Alt key to see the button change to "Open Copy" which is like "Open Image" except the adjustments which you are currently making in Camera Raw will only affect the image that is sent to Photoshop and adjustments will not be saved. -
Need help asap! New to Audition and its freezing. work is not saved!
So I've edited an audio file and after adding an envelope it's like the program is freezing but not completely. I can use keyboard shortcuts, but I can't click on anything. When I try to click on File or Edit at the top menu, I hear this stupid little chime noise.
I'm looking in the manual but I can't see a shortcut for saving your work. Is there one?
I'm an idiot for not saving sooner, but I really don't want to start all over. I'm having to edit an instrumental track along with a version that has the vocals so I can keep track of what I'm doing where. It's been a long and tedious process and I don't have much time to finish.
Any advice? Can I save somehow with a shortcut?

I saw another user here that was having crashes when he saved, but I ran msconfig and didn't see anything that mentioned supportsoft as a manufacturer or anything like they mentioned, let alone find one that was clicked. I'm running Vista, by the way.

When I hold my cursor over any of the controls or buttons on the screen, the little text that usually pops up to explain the action of that particular button doesn't even show up. Nothing with the mouse is working, although the mouse is running the rest of my computer just fine.
Also, I'm running a new Dell with Vista. I've been using audition for only an hour or so total but it's been fine up until now.
My best hope is that there is a way to save my work so I can reboot the computer and see if that solves it. Otherwise, I'm screwed.

QuickTime Pro 7.1 sound edits not saving
In QuickTime Pro 7.1 when I adjust the volume level in the movie Properties dialog, then save the file, the edits are not saved with the file when I reopen it and play it. The volume level reverts back to the way it was before.
Is there something I am doing wrong?

1. download QT 6.5.1 from here:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime651.html
do NOT install it.
2. download Pacifist here:
http://www.charlessoft.com/
Use Pacifist to open the "QuickTime651.pkg"
(What we do next is extract only the QuickTime 6.5.1 Player from the package.)
From the "Application" folder in the open Pacifist window, choose "QuickTime Player.app"
In the Pacifist icon menu choose "Extract To..." and choose your Desktop.
* Important: Rename the "QuickTime Player" on your Desktop to "QuickTime Player 6.5.1"
Put it into your Applications folder and use as you have in the past.
Any changes you make to the video or sound can now be saved as before if you use this player to open your movies.
The QuickTime 7 player will still function as it did before.

When I try to adjust levels etc it is not saving my changes. When I click done, then close the event, when I come back to the event it is still the original photo. I have tried exporting, and duplicating the photo and nothing saves my adjustments. Is there something I am completely missing here?
Thanks!Those are the options in iPhoto's preferences such as background color when viewing the thumbnails, etc. If you didn't make any changes to them before then you don't have to worry about it.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard. -
Iphoto 11 , How to save changes to photos, not saving -/ snow leopard
Hi , after much ado then discovering the recent "fix" for Iphoto 11 I started using it today. I uploaded new photos , edited them and quickly discovered that Iphoto was NOT saving any of the changes I had made.There is no longer a "Done" button so I went back to again check the few photos I had adjusted , Iphoto only saved changes for one out of 10 of the photos I had adjusted.
Is there a "save changes" function I am missing here? Anyone else experiencing this problem?How are you exporting? If you select the photo and export (file menu ==> export) with kind = JPEG or current the edited version will be exported
if that is not happening try renewing your preference file -
A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

This just started on March 12, no apparent reason that I can find. The account is a POP, preferences are set to never delete. Kind of annoying! Thanks for any suggestions...
OS 10.6.8, Macbook Pro 2.33 Mail 4.5 (1084)My primary email account is IMAP and I have just found what I suspect are all the messages that were not saved in my "sent" folder either on my iMac or ISP server. They were in the "Sent" folder of my secondary, little-used Hotmail account and the recipients "saw" these as originating from this account rather than the one from which I actually sent them. After some testing, I discovered that, for my primary account, the "always use this server" box was not checked. I surmise that, if the Mail app has trouble using the server associated with my primary account, it simply uses the Hotmail server (this would be consistent with the delay before hearing the "whooshing"noise). What does surprise me is that, if this Hotmail server has been used, the recipient sees the message as originating from Hotmail. Is this what is supposed to happen?

When i run(from terminal) separately in a new class with an image in an Imageview( inside a Vbox) and take the snapshot

In an eMail message, when I attempt to save two photos by clicking the 'Save 2 Images' link, not the 'Save Image' link, the images are not saved. (I use I I apologize for the late notice, butOS7 on IPhone5). Is this feature broken?

Non admin user - changes not saved (Safari settings, system prefs, etc.)
iMac, 2 users, one is administrator and other is standard user. Recently, in the non-admin user account, it has become impossible to make any changes. For example, adding an application to the the Dock, after logging out and back in next time, the application is not in the Dock any more. Also, making changes to the prefs in Safari, changes are not saved.
I noticed this after installing FireFox v4. I installed it as admin whilst in the non-admin users account. However, I don't believe that the installation of FF has anything to do with the problem, it just highlighted it. I've checked the permissions for the various directories that hold prefs info such as user/libraries/application prefs/etc. etc. and also Safari prefs. Nothing I can see that has changed in system prefs.
Any ideas on what has caused the problem (kids are known to fiddle from within the non-admin account) and any ideas on how to fix it?

You could try making the standard user an Admin too. To do this, make sure you are logged in to the standard user, go to System Preferences > Accounts > Standard user (you may have to unlock the padlock) > Allow user to administer this computer
This will allow changes to be made without being prompted for a password all the time.
However, if you had Parental Controls on, they probably won't work on an admin account because as an admin you have complete control over a computer, so the computer thinks there is no point in having the controls turned on. And if the kids are known to "fiddle," just think carefully!

I am trying to assign delegation to a user and I receive the following message.
The delegates settings were not saved correctly. Cannot activate Send-on-behalf-of list. You do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object.
We are using 2010 for the server and client. There are only specific mailboxes that this is happening for after being migrated from Lotus Notes. The user can use their mailfile fine however it is just the delegation that appears corrupted somehow.
I'm not sure how to fix this. I have checked the access through the security tab in ad and that looks fine.
Any help would be appreciated.I did some more digging and I solved it.
This would be the solution:
In Active Directory Users and Computers
-Click on VIEW
-Click on ADVANCE FEATURES (this is important otherwise you won't see
the complete list in the next steps)
-Click on the USERS container
-Find the problem user's account
-Right mouse the account and click on PROPERTIES
-Click on the SECURITY tab
-In the top box, click on the SELF account
-In the bottom portion of the screen make sure the READ PERSONAL
INFORMATION & WRITE PERSONAL INFORMATION should both be checked for
ALLOW
If you can compare the permissions for 'SELF' with another user you probably should set them accordingly to be safe. I noticed that for the user where setting delegates (SOB) did
not work, more than those 2 permissions were missing.
