Deactivate a computer I no longer own

My license entitles me to install Adobe CS3 on two systems. So, I had it on my desktop and laptop.  I recently sold my laptop, and reformatted the hard drive.  But, I forgot to deactivate CS3 before doing so.  Now I want to install it on my newer laptop, but the activation screen is telling me I've reached the number of activations.
So, my question is... How do I deactivate a computer that I no longer own?

You will need to activate by phone, and explain what has happened.  I had the issue two weeks ago after replacing a failed laptop hard drive.
Just look for the 'other activation options' when you go through the activation process.

Regarding homesharing: I need to deactivate a computer I no longer own.  How do I do this?  I have reached my limit of 5 computers

For computers: You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. Otherwise you can "deauthorize all" from your iTunes account.
    Open iTunes on a computer
From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Under "Computer Authorizations" select "Deauthorize All".
Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "deauthorize all" your authorized computers, authorize each one as required.
It is also possible to have mistakenly authorized a computer more than once. To fix that:
    Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose "Deauthorize This Computer…"
Enter your account name and password.
Click OK. A message appears reading "This computer has been successfully deauthorized."
    Click OK.
Repeat steps 2 through 5 above. If you see the same message reading: "This computer has been successfully deauthorized," then your computer was using multiple authorizations.
Repeat steps 2 through 5 above until you see a message reading "This computer was not authorized. To authorize this computer, play a song or video you have purchased using this account."

In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.

  • How do i delete an ipod or computer i no longer own from home sharing?

I just downloaded itunes to my new laptop and tried to sign in to home sharing and it didn't let me since i  reached the max of 5 computers or devices. I dont even remember all the devices logged onto my profile. How can remove or deactivate a device i no longer own?

I don't think that there is a limit for home sharing.
I assume you mean authorizing your computer.  You can only authorize computers 5 at a time.
You will need to deauthorize all, then authorize the computers you want.

If you stil lcan access the machine and launch the programs, run Help --> Deactivate and sign out of the Creative Cloud app. If not call support to have them fix it on their end by resetting your activation count.

  • How can I deathorize a computer I no longer own without deauthorizing my others?

I have five computers with my Itunes home sharing and I want to add another. To do so I need to remove one. However, to remove one you need to be on the one you wish to deauthorize or deathorize all five. There doesn't seem to be any option to deauthorize one you no longer own. What will happen if I deathorize them all and then reauthorize those that I currently have? Will I lose songs on any of my computers, for example?

Yes, you need to deauthorize them all, then reauthorize the ones you want again.  See this article http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1420

  • Deauthorizing computer I no longer own

    Hi,
I'm aware that to de-authorize a computer from being able to play itunes downloads you have to log into itunes on that computer and go through the profile section and click de-authorize, however my old laptop is no more (i.e. smashed to a million pieces), how can I de-authorize this machine as there doesn't seem to be the option to do so without de-authorizing all? I would like my new laptop to be registered instead.
    Cheers
    Will

You can't deauthorise a 'dead' computer on it's own. However once you've reached the limit of 5 authorisations, you have the option once a year to deauthorise them all in one go: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • De-authorizing computer you no longer own

I have two other computers that are authorized to use the music purchased with my iTunes account. I would like to de-authorize them but because they are no longer mine i can't do it the easy way. I tried apple help but what it told me do do in such situation didn't work.

You can only do a "deauthorize all", if you have reached the 5 authorization limit. To do an "all", you will have to go to your account from the main store window, by clicking on the icon in the upper right corner. Once on the account info page, the 2nd section will have show how many authorized computers you have & if you have 5 authorized systems, there should be a "deauthorize all" icon. If you haven't reached the 5 limit, the next step will be to contact the store to do a "deauthorize all" for you. If you need to e-mail the store, select the "authorization help" link from the customer service link below. Explain what your situation is, including the fact that you have no access to these other systems to get them deauthorized. Once the store does this, you will still have to go back to re-authorize what you need. I think this covers everything, but please post back if you any further questions.
So sorry, wrong link, try this one.

  • Deactivating CS6 from a computer I no longer own

I reformatted the drive and sold the machine, not thinking about deactivating CS6 before doing so. Now I try to install CS6 on my new iMac and get the message that it cannot be activated because it has been activated on two machines already. Is there a way for me to deactivate that version?

You should be able to take care of that with an online chat.

  • I need to deauthorize three computers I no longer own, but keep my computer authorization for my current computer and add a new laptop. Is there a way of doing this without having to unauthorize my current desktop which is my main music storage devic

I just purchased a new Win 8.1 laptop and want to authorize it for my iTunes library. I operate this library on a Win 7 desktop. I have three other Windows computers that I no longer own which were authorized under my iTunes account, but I can't unauthorized them because they are broken or sold. I want to have Computer Authorization for just my current desktop running Win 7 and my new laptop operating Win 8.1. How can I selectively unauthorize a computer if I no longer have it in my possession, and if I have to unauthorize all of my computers, how do I get my iTunes library of music back onto my current desktop system?

Deauthorizing the computer will not remove the content from your library. You deauthorize all, then authorize the ones you want. See this support document. Deauthorize your computer using iTunes - Apple Support
