I'm having the same problem. I had a laptop HD replaced and our IT guy managed to zap the entire drive in the process. It's taken a month restore all my apps. Luckily I'd backed up what little data was on the original drive. I use the laptop to work remote. I fought my way thru Autodesk subscription, Sketchup and their all the various plugin apps to get the system to match my workstations...then there's Adobe 'support'!
I use Production Premium CS6. After logging into my Adobe account I could get all my previous serial numbers except CS5, the one I'd need to activate CS6! I'd installed CS6 in 2012, using my upgrade based on my purchase of CS5 upgrade from CS4 and so on. I'm suspicious of that missing serial number, but I must be conspiracy theorist at heart.
On-line I found an adobe direct line that took me to an outsourced 'adobe rep' who was happy to help me. He connected to my laptop by remote and was glad to reactivate my CS6, however he told me that the CS5 serial number died with the old hard drive and that he'd be glad to reactivate for 599.00 USD! I then realized that I'd connected with a scam, not Adobe support!
Any real Adobe support for a CS products appears to have been dismantled, creating opportunities for scammers and I'm at wits end with trying to follow monster Adobe as it turns its back on its previous customers.
A chat line connection might be a saving grace for me...I don't find the link either!

Deactivating CS3 on a dead computer

If you computer dies, how do you go about deactivating CS3 on the dead machine, in order to activate it on another (new or backup) computer?
I don't currently have this problem, but it's got me worried, if it ever does happen. I'd like to know what to do in advanced, to get things back up and running as quickly as possible.

I bought my iMac in Japan so it has a two pronged Japanese style plug. Check with Apple before you leave as my G5 which has a three pronged Australian style plug but I was able to plug it in with only an adaptor (no transformer). The G5 is apparently able to run on a variety of power supplys from different countries.
With other electrical devices I had to purchase the appropriate transformer. You can buy these in Japan from Electrical Retailers for about ¥5000. I think you have to buy them in Japan though. You probably can't get them before you leave.
I checked my G5 in as extra luggage when I flew to Japan. I had to pay quite a bit extra and they stored it with all the other luggage (not carry on). I didn't have the Apple original packing, though I did make some effort trying to pack it properly, but obvioulsy it wasn't enough. It would've been better to ship it by special carrier with all my other furniture, that wasn't damage.

How can I deactivate CC on a dead computer?

I had CC downloaded on two machines: my desktop and laptop. My desktop died a few days ago and now I'm setting up my new desktop, including downloading CC, but I can't. My guess is because the license is only good for two machines, but how do I deactivate a license on a computer I can no longer start up?

Unfortunately, we will not be able to deactivate on the desktop however you can go ahead and install and activate product on a third machine.
Once you activate it will ask you to Deactivate from the other machines and that's how you can deactivate.

I purchased Photoshop CS4 several years ago and never had a problem with it. My computer recently got a virus and now won't even turn on. I bought a new computer and I want to instal Photoshop on it, but I can't deactivate it on my dead computer. What do I do? The chat representatives haven't helped at all.

You have to telephone support and ask nicely. I've only ever had to do it once, and it was fast and easy. They would have seen I have a lot of purchases in my account, and had never asked for a reactivation before. They actually reset it to zero, so I had two!

I have a CS3 on an iMac. My old iMac's disk drive failed completely. So, I cannot turn it on.
I installed all my files and programs from a back-up drive. Adobe Product Support said I should go to the Forum.

I recently got a new computer to replace my old one which stopped working. I had Photoshop Elements 9 installed on the old computer and used it often, so I installed it on my new computer. However, it told me that the serial number had been used for 2 computers already (my old computer and my dad's computer) and that I needed to deactivate the old one before I can activate this one. This is impossible because the old computer can't be used anymore.
Is there some way the serial number on my old computer could be deactivated online?

Hello, I have a problem with Activation. My computer was broken and I had my Photoshop Elements 9 installed in it. Now I want to activate my PSP ELements 9 on new computer. It says "Activation limit reached for Adobe Photoshop Elements 9. " And it wants me to deactivate my PSP ELements on the broken computer or a new serial number. As far as I cannot deactivate it on the broken computer, I am writing you to ask for help. I am not the US, I am Slovak. What can I do to use my PSP ELements 9 now ???

Have you tried installing it or are you just assuming you cannot. You are normally allowed to install and activate on two machines.
