They were not there and MacKeeper made them up. Delete it completely. I have seen it cripple people's Macs.

Faces in Photos showed up blank after the upgrades

Faces in Photos showed up blank after the upgrades (no labeled faces at all) with the suggested faces mostly full of 100's of blank white circles. I used to have about 50 faces labeled with about 2500 photos. Now I have no labeled faces on top of page (completely blank) and only 9 face suggestions on the bottom. Photos also runs very slowly compared to iPhoto. I tried re-installing and re-upgrading and have gotten the same results. I'm using a Mac Pro (2009), OS 10.10.3, 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon, 16 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC, 7 GB storage. Any help will be appreciated and even if I have to delete the Face's database and start all over, where do I find that database or file to delete?

1. Copy and paste is a very good way of moving chunks of text around, however, it's not really good for moving a Library containing many thousands of files. Drag and Drop is rather more reliable.

2. The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

Albums, places, events and faces on Photos

Can anyone tell me how I can get the menu option tabs of events and faces on Photos like the video shows? On mine I only have places and albums. Also, how do you create new albums?

You create albums by including additional folders from your computer in your sync (and if you want to keep the existing albums then they also need to be in the next photo-sync, as they will be deleted if they are excluded from it). You cannot create new albums, or move photos between albums, directly on the iPad.
For faces, from the manual 'Events and Faces must first be configured in iPhoto or Aperture on a Mac, then synced to iPad' i.e. the photos must have been synced with 'Faces' set - if you didn't sync any 'faces' then the tab is hidden (as there is nothing for it show).

Smart Album to show pics with no faces, & any photos that iPhoto no faceID

Hi, I've just started to use iPhoto 09, after a long long time getting to know my iMac, and organising my iTunes library...
I want a smart album to show photos which have no faces, but also to have photos which iPhoto has not picked up that a photo needs a "face ID" on, what I mean is, if a person is turned away to to the side, iPhoto might not pick up that it needs to be a "face" and so wont show up in the normal smart album Photo>is>unnamed
if anyone can help, would be great, I'm busy slowly importing my photos, and what to do this one step at a time

A smart album with the criteria "Face is unnamed" will find any photo with an unnamed face on it. It can be either one with a named face or two but at least one unnamed face or a photo with no faces named.
There is workaround to get what you want.
1 - add a keyword, face, to any photo you name a face in.
2 - create a smart album with the criteria "Keyword is not face".
This will identify any photo with no face at all. If you've not added any other keywords to photos you can create the smart album above and then sort by keyword. Those with both a face and unnamed face will have the keyword face and can be sorted to the top or bottom of the list.

Hi, I recently bought a new iPhone 5 and when I did my update and went to Photos/Faces/ I noticed that my Key Photos for my Faces were not showing and it chose random images. This used to work with iOS6 and my iPhone 4. Please provide a timeframe for when this issue will be fixed. Thanks.

Faces in Photos app

Do you need to select the "face" in the photos tab in iTunes when synching?
I use Aperture 3, and I am synching a subset of my very large photo library. I would like to be able to see the faces from the photos I sync, but I do not want to sync all of the photos associated with a particular face.
Right now, I don't select any of the faces (just the albums / events I want to sync), and I was hoping to see the faces on my iPad (but this does not appear to work).
Do I need to sync ALL of the photos associated with a "face" in order to be able to see faces data on the iPad?

Jim, it doesn't appear so if you switch to iCloud Photos, then all synced photos through iTunes are removed which is how I had Faces synced before. Now there don't appear to be Faces on the iOS version of the app, or perhaps all those tagged haven't gone to the cloud and back down again. Is what I am describing clear? Thanks

Alphabetize Faces in Photos for Mac

I have thousands of photos from a large party I took pictures at... I would really like to alphabetize the faces so that I can keep it organized, but without manually dragging faces around... Please let me know if this is possible somehow, or if I should just go back to Aperture or iPhoto.

Photos arranges the Faces by the frequency of use. You can arrange manually by dragging around, but that's is.

IPhoto Faces Only Recognises Faces in Photo Stream Folder

Hello,
I have imported a host of pictures into iPhoto from a removable hard drive. This has then grouped the photos into events / albums.
When I go in to Faces, the only faces it recognises are from pictures in the Photo Stream folder, and none from all the other events / albums. Can anyone suggest how I can get Faces to scan all my events and all my photos?

Photo Sync - Faces - Reduced Photo Count

I did a search & didn't find anything on this...
I have an iPhone 4, iMac 24", and use Aperture. Within iTunes I chose to sync one of my "faces" lists...containing all the identified faces of one person. It synced and added to my iPhone w/o any problem. I have since reduced the instances of that person being tagged, such that instead of 71 photos in that person's face 'album', there are now only 46. But when I sync again, my phone still has all 71 photos.
Similarly, if I uncheck that face 'album' in iTunes (expecting it to remove those photos), I still see all the photos on my iPhone.
When in the Photos tab in iTunes, it still has a "71" next to that particular face 'album'.
So it appears that iTunes is not recognizing the change & keeps syncing those files to the phone. It's interesting though, b/c if I add another face to that 'album', that was added to the phone. Is there some separate database that iTunes creates that will recognize additions, but not deletions?
A google search yielded that there's an iPod iPhoto Cache that's created as a "Package Content" of my Aperture library. But it seems silly to have to delete this folder and recreate/sync everything whenever I want to remove photos from an album.

I'm experiencing a similar problem. I am running Leopard 10.5.5 with iTunes 8.01 (12), and syncing with a iPod Classic 80 Gb.
When I sync my iPod with iTunes, in the Photos tab I have selected "Sync Photos from iPhoto." Next to the radio button for "All photos" it reads 1063 photos. My iPhoto 08, version 7.14 (371) library has 2433 items in it!
Why don't they show up to sync to my iPod in iTunes? I've tried deleting the iPod photo cache in the iPhoto folder, but when I sync again, I have the same problem.
What's going on, Apple?

The Faces album is visible in the Sidebar (View menu > Show Sidebar ⌥⌘S ), if you show it, and the faces labels will show in the info panel for each photo. You can use the faces labels in smart albums and searches.

There is no antivirus software for the iPad because there are no virus for iPad. Try this. Clear Safari, close it completely and reboot your iPad. If you are using the Facebook app, close that as well.
Go to Settings>Safari>Cookies and Data.
In order to close Safari and FaceBook - Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Unnamed Faces in photo with no faces

I have created a smart album to show all unnamed faces. Several of these images are showing '1 unnamed face' in the Info tab, however there are no squares to tag in the image itself. Is there anyway to correct this? My library has recently been repaired.

This is probably too late for you but other may find it useful in the future.
This seems to be a fault within iPhoto, and Apple don't seem interested in fixing it as usual, the customer comes last.
Here is what you have to do.
First Create a Smart album that collates all Hidden Photos
Now go back to your Smart Album with "unnamed Faces" and Hide the ones that don't show the Face Square
Theses photos will now appear in the Hidden Smart Album.
Now Unhide them (Show ) them.
The unnamed face square will not usually appear in the photo .
If not, it maybe a cropping issue and the unnamed face is outside the cropped area.

Identifying faces in photos

I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.
Is there any way to mark/identify faces in a group photo in such a way that when I send the photo to someone else (e.g. as a JPEG file) and they view it with one of the common photo viewers they can mouse over the individual faces and the names of the individuals pop up ? Or is this outside the scope of Elements/JPEG format/common photo viewers ?

in Flickr you could make the pics available only to designated "friends" and "family". Nobody else would see them. But then, all intended viewers would need their own (free) Flickr account and you have to register them as "friend", for instance. There might sth like that on other web pages.
You can save the names with PSE5 as "IPTC keyword" within the image file, not visable at first. If the viewer has an image viewing software that reveals IPTC keywords (many do), they could see all names in a row (not at all next to the appropriate face).
With another, larger software you could create web pages with fitting mouse-over pop-ups for every face. For instance, it is very easy in Photoshop full versions old and new. There should be some cheap software too with that ability, but i don't know it. These web pages could be password protected or you don't upload them, just pass them on on CD, via e-mail or USB stick.
