Deactivate iMessage without an iOS 5 Device?

A friend of mine got an iPhone 3GS which is damaged now.
So he turns back to an 3G which does not support iMessage.
He forgot to turn iMessage off, so my iPhone (4, iOS 5) always tried to send via iMessage.
How is he able do disable iMessage without iOS 5?
Thanks for your Help
Lars from Molfsee

Hi, My collegue encounters same situation as you, so everytime i want to text him, i have to turn off wifi and
cellular data first to disable imessage function for this message and turn on them after sending so as to keep normal imessage function with other friends who are using iphone. This drives me mad!
i just find something here, http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/34216/how-to-disable-imessage-on-a-brok en-iphone

    Hi,
You need to contact Apple Support somewhere along the line.
In iTunes go to the Store and then to the bottom  of the page and click Support.
This will open a web page to start the process.
My UK version take me here http://www.apple.com/uk/support/itunes/
At the bottom of this Menu is Contact Support.
Click this then in the new Page chose the iTunes option on the right hand pane.  (UK version http://www.apple.com/uk/support/itunes/contact/)
You now get led through a set of support questions.
Keep to the ones about Managing your Account until you reach the end and are offered email contact.
Explain the problem to them giving as much detail as you can. Dates and things you do know.

  • Why doesn't imessage work from ios 5 device to ios 6?

I can't seem send iMessages to my brother who has an iPhone 5 running ios 6 from my iPhone 4 running ios 5. It tries, but always reverts to a text message.
I have not tested this with any other people as I don't know anyone else with the new iPhone. For all I know this is a device to device issue but I'd like to know if anyone else has had this problem.
I will not change from ios 5 to ios 6 as the pros don't outweigh the cons for my needs.

Sounds like a reason to just buy an Adroid phone.
I can bluetooth content to my MacBook Pro using an Android, no problems.

  • HELP : How to disable iMessage without iOS

    Hi everyone,
I need help from you guys because I have an issue with iMessage.
I've been using this feature for a year when I recently got my iPhone 5 stolen 2 weeks ago
Since then, I'm using a non-apple device which then do not handle iMessage.
The problem here is that I do not receive messages from my contacts who use iMessage on their side.
Seems like my phone number is still linked with iMessage, but messages are kind of "lost".
I would like to deactivate iMessage from my account but I have no access to an apple device to do so.
I tried to unregister my iPhone from my support account profile but with no success.
    Could you help me ?
This is pretty annoying because I can't receive most of messages...
Thanks in advance for your precious help !!
    Mat

Read here under "no longer have iOS device":

If that doesn't work, you'll have to call AppleCare to fix.

  • How to sync iMessage across all iOS devices?

How do I sync iMessage across all iOS devices?

Simple solution to imessage not syncing....
I did it and I hope this solves your problems too!! My wife's devices would NOT sync imessages the way we think iMessage should sync intuitively. I figured it out and it's now working perfect from what I can tell.
Go to https://appleid.apple.com and make sure under phone numbers you have your cell phone number filled out! I deleted prior threads before testing (not sure if that was necessary) but now it's working like a charm. (might take a second to ping the phone number to the imessage server)

  • If I have two factor authentication on my iPhone can someone read my iMessages on their iOS device?

If I have two factor authentication on my iPhone can someone read my iMessages on their iOS device?

As you probably know iOS devices can only be physically synced to one computer at a time. If you mean will iTunes Match keep all your "devices" up to date with all our music then, yes, that is what the service is designed to do.

  • Messages sending as iMessage to non iOS devices

When I initially upgraded to iOS 5, iMessage wroked great. I was able to send iMessages to people with iOS 5 devices just like its supposed to work. However, some of my friends who previously had iPhones now have android phones and now whenever I try to text them, it only sends as an iMessage which they cannot receive on their phone. The only way to text them is to turn off iMessage which kind of defeats the point. Has anyone else run into this issue? Does anyone have any advice for me on how to force an SMS instead of an iMessage?

This seems to be a common problem.  The only instructions I could find on the Apple web site state that iMessage users who switch to other devices should turn off iMessage before doing so.  It sure would be nice if we senders had the ability to toggle iMessage on/off for each contact.
    [extracted from iOS: Troubleshooting Messages]
f you plan on transferring your SIM card or phone number from an iPhone to a device that does not support iMessage, turn off iMessage in Settings > Messages first. If you do not, other iOS devices may continue to try to send a message using iMessage first, instead only using SMS or MMS.

  • I know Imessaging between IOS 5 devices is free, but when sending group texts to both IOS 5 phones and nonIOS 5 phones, is it still free to those with IOS 5? The text bubble is green.

According to Macworld it is a lowest common denominator situation. If any of the people on your list are not iMessage people then all the messages go out SMS and will count against your messages from your provider. Bummer IMHO, but that is the way it is.

  • IMessage showing up on another device when not supposed to

Ok, recently I have came across this VERY frustrating experience with iMessage. Here is a brief background on how I set up my account:
In my family, we have several iPhones (4 & 4s) and iPad (1 & 2). Since we all want to share the music and apps under the same Apple ID but not our imessages/facetime, I decided to create an unique email address as the sent & receive address for each individual device. So for example, I would have let's say [email protected] as the email address on my mom's iPhone, so that any imessages or facetime sent to that email will only show up on my mom's iPhone whereas the [email protected] would be on my dad's iPad etc. We have been using our own email addresses all this time without any problem until we upgraded to iOS 6.
Here are the problems we have been encountering recently:
    1. At times, our iMessage would log out by itself and make us re-enter the password for the Apple ID.
    2. With the new iOS6, I noticed that we would actually see a list of all the email addresses that are associated with my Apple ID show up under Setting > iMessage or Facetime. At first, they all had check marks in front of them and eventually I figured out that I would actually receive all the imessages that are sent to the email addresses I have a check mark for. For example, if in my iPod setting > facetime, I see that [email protected] and [email protected] are both checked, that means whoever sends an imessage to my mom's iPhone or my dad's iPad, I would also be able to see it. So what I did for each single device was to uncheck all the other email addresses in that list and only checked the one that the device has always been using previously.
At first, everything worked fine, we all got our own imessages without getting others. But after a while things started to get out of control. One night, I was using my iPod (which uses the email address [email protected]) to send an imessage to my friend's iPhone (which uses her own phone #) and next day, my mom told me that she saw my imessage on her phone too! And it appeared as if she was the one sending it out instead of me! Similar problem happend a few days later, where my dad's imessage with his colleague showed up on my iPod.
But I re-checked all the devices and made sure that only ONE email address was used for each single device and they are all different from each other. So has anyone encountered this problem? Any way to solve it? It's kind of scary because your private messages with friends or girl/boyfriend would just randomly show up on your parents' devices once in a while @@
I would really appreciate it if someone can lend me a helping hand! Also, this is my first time posting on Apple Forum, so I sincerely apologize if I happen to put this at the wrong section. Thank you!

all ios devices which are signed in wiht the same appleID get all imessages same deal with facetime
make an appleID for each device

    Hi bdahm,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  You are correct.  Before you delete any app from your iPad, you need to save it's documents (data).
iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer - Apple Support
For App Store apps that use File Sharing, transfer the files from within your apps to your computer using iTunes.
iOS: About File Sharing - Apple Support
How to copy files using File Sharing
Connect your iOS device to your computer using the included Dock Connector to USB cable.
Launch iTunes 9.1 or later on your computer.
Select your iOS device from the Devices section of iTunes.
Click the Apps tab and scroll down to the bottom of the page.
Note: If you do not see the File Sharing section shown in the image below, your iOS device does not have any apps that support File Sharing.
Under the File Sharing section, you'll find a list of apps currently installed on your iOS device that support File Sharing. Select an app to view a list of the files associated with that app on your iOS device.
Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes - Apple Support

With Yosemite and iOS 8, you can also use iCloud Drive to save your Pages documents.  Here is some specific information:

Howdo I deactivate Imessage and Ichat on a dead 4s?  Recently waithced to Samsing and not getting messages from iphone contacts

    Hi,
In theory an iPhone that appears to the Server as Off Line will be "de-registered" from the server.
Twice at various iOS Upgrades I have had the iPhone Number become greyed out leaving only the Apple ID is use (Despite the fact th item is greyed out and unchangeable by the user.
This should mean that the iPhone should present as not in service and the sender should "Switch" to sending SMS.
However as the Mac version may still have the iPhone number in it's Send and Receive lists then the iPhone may appear to be still logged in.
You can "disable" the iPhone number in the iMessages account (Messages > Preferences > Accounts).
Unticking the Receive At will also  remove it form the Start Conversation From drop down.
It can be removed by deleting the com.apple.ids.service.com.apple.madrid.plist in Mavericks and above as this holds the current Apple ID and any "Aliases" in use.  You will need to re-enter your Apple ID in Messages on the Mac if you do this.
Ultimately contacting Apple Support is the simplest and best way although some of the above may be needed to "tidy up" afterwards.
