Deactivate motherboard beep

I did a quick search on the internet and this forum, but didn't find how to deactivate the motherboard beeps.
It's a MSI H61M-P21 (B3). Very unfortunately it's not like the other boderboards, which let you decide if you want the beeps or not, by just don't inserting a buzzer embedded on the board.
The point is: can I deactivate this buzzer by software? So I'd not need to void the warranty by removing the component itself.

You could drip something into the speaker.

    Hi there,
I have read several posts to find out what's wrong with my MSI H67MA-E45 (B3) motherboard, but have problems listening how many times the motherboard beeps. My setup is as follows:

When I boot my pc, everything is fine. It also seems that everything works as intended inside windows as well. The thing that concerns me is all the fast beeps at the start of a boot. I can't hear how many beeps there are, so I hoped anyone here could help me? I think it sounds like 10 beeps, but I'm not sure at all.
Here is a small youtube movie I uploaded while booting my pc:
    Thanks for your help,

If its beeping but otherwise starting as normal (ie boots into Windows), then this is USB device enumeration beeps, and is normal.

I Can't get my motherboard working anymore. Tried to sets of memory, though it does not seem the problem.
My motherboard gives 1 long beep and 2 short ones. Cleared the CMOS already. Is this a display adapter problem? I don't have a working screen...
    Thanks in advance.

    What VGA you use?
Remove power cord from the PSU, then do >>Clear CMOS Guide<< again.

  • Warping picture in CS3 - stupid thing beeps at me!

I've used the Transform-Warp tool pretty readily before, but mostly with straight surfaces.  Now I'm trying to match a picture onto a curved frame (it's actually imitating individual frames of a segment of film going across my picture)...
So, I put the picture in a layer over the frame (which in reality is transparent except for the lines and start the Transform.  First I match the corners by holding CTRL and dragging the corners to the respective place on the frame.  So far, so good.  However, the right and left sides are still straight, not matching the curve of the frame (see below).
I'm still in the Transform dialog, so I click the Warp button on the Transform toolbar (or right-click and choose Warp).  This, of course, gives me the warp grid.  However, 9 time out of 10 when I click on a point on the grid the computer beeps!!  What is worse, perhaps, is that sometimes it doesn't beep but when I drag the mouse another part of the picture entirely starts to warp!
BTW- clicking Commit to the above transform and then trying to warp that doesn't really work because the transform outline is now a big square that encompasses the picture/layer but its bottom is horizontal.  The Warp grid doesn't give me just the points of the layer I'm warping!
Does anyone have any suggestions on a) what's up with the beep and/or b) the "best" method to warp the picture to fit the frame!
As usual, ANY and ALL help appreciated!

    The motherboard beeps?
    http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/cs-010249.htm
If not the motherboard go into window sounds and look for a sound that is listed for program error or crtiical stop and test it to see if the sound matches. This will get you closer to the problem.

  • Zen Neeon: beeping error at boo

So I just received a Neeon for christmas, and while transferring files it received an error in the middle of a transfer, which I saw after a minute (I was transferring files for a while, so I'd gone off to do something else) and closed, thinking I'd just retry. Now my Neeon is just beeping at me, in cyclic, decending tones. The screen is frozen at the creative logo, and the computer won't recognize the device. Is this indicati've of any specific error? It strikes me as similar to motherboard beep codes, but I'm new to the Creative brand and don't know where to go from here.
    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

    Its a very clear beeping
The system doesn't crash just beeps about 30 seconds into games or benchtests but stops after a couple of seconds. Only happens in graphic intensive games like metro 2033 and mafia
I have recorded and uploaded the beeping for you http://www.zshare.net/download/80702890b1e0ff16/
I dont thinks its the PSU. i used Asus PSU calculator and im 200W over for what i need for my system
the hotest the VGA's get is 65-70c and the 2nd VGA is in the last PCI-E slot with a gap of 45mm between the 2.

No idea what those beeps means.
[Which you told that they only occur in SLI mode, when GPU's are underload and its for few seconds then they are gone]
But they are probably not a error indication,[based on what i can hear] sound like they are some kind of informative purpose.

  • Updated EUFI, new beeps on POST

    Hey
Today I updated my UEFI from 1.9 to 1.C because it didn't recognise the timings on my ram properly.
Everything is now perfect, CPUZ reports the correct timings, the new UEFI version, and the date it was released, perfect!
    Here is the problem.
Before the update my motherboard used to beep for every USB item attached. Now, I just get one long beep.
Everything works perfectly, the computer posts instantly and everything is fine in both windows and UEFI.
I tried to Google this but didn't find anything. Anyone else experience this?
I used M-flash directly in the UEFI menu.
    I use the MSI P67A C45 with an i5 2500k, Corsair XMS3 ram and HD6870.

  • Z61m beep loud on start?

    Hi,
when I start my Laptop I get an very loud beep after "ThinkVantage Active Protections sensor diagnostc start" is ready. After that, the Windows system is starting.
Is it possible to deactivate this beep signal? I have cheked the whole bios an did not findy a check box for this beep.
    pls help
    IBM ThinkPad Z61m

The Active Protection sensor is only tested by an extended power on self test(POST).  The extended POST also emits a beep when it finishes successfully.
Enter BIOS Setup, select Startup, select Boot Mode and choose Quick instead of Diagnostics.  Your machine will boot faster now and not beep unless something is wrong.
The beep volume can be adjusted with the volume control buttons too.
I was previously employed by Lenovo but have no formal role on this forum.
I am here on my own time because I like fooling with PCs, especially Lenovo ones. ALL my posts are purely my personal opinion.

To do the kind of thing you are talking about you will need to implment a Java Bean in your form listen for the changes. Take a look at KeyEvent Java Bean or the Oracle Forms PJCs-Java Beans web site for more information and examples.
    Hope this helps,

  • R7850 PE 2GD5/OC causes 1-long-2-short beep code on 990FXA-GD80 on some startups

Sometimes (usually after the desktop is shut off for a while), my GD80 board will do the 1-long-2-short beep code, and then continue booting, but the monitor display isn't activated.
Shutting down and turning it right back on however has no beep codes, and the display turns on as-expected. Turning the system off and unplugging the power for a bit, then plugging it back in also doesn't result in beep codes and the display works.
So basically, there's some GPU-related issue that seems to only affect a cold start, but not entirely sure what. According to this, the beep code is a "Monitor or display card error".
The GPU itself seems to work fine with a stress test under Linux.

I RMA'd the card already, so I just hope a replacement fixes the issue.
I'm not too certain how frequently it occurs or the exact ways to reproduce it, but the issue seems to only occur on a cold start. So if I shut my computer down, sleep for some hours, and come back to turn it on, the issue occurs (where the GPU doesn't seem to come on with POST, motherboard beeps, no display output).
It happened since the first time I started using the hardware (I haven't used the motherboard or GPU previously; was waiting on a CPU). The GPU was a RMA already from MSI.
Couldn't test the components in another system. However, I'm using an old Radeon HD 2400 PRO currently in this computer and it starts up fine from cold starts.
The GPU had some other weird issues with it (hard-locked the system when the screen suspended, and wouldn't work with a UEFI VBIOS), so I'm thinking it was just faulty. On the other hand though, once the computer was on and the GPU actually running, everything else was fine (stress testing and games were fine).

  • 1 beep at startup, DRAM refresh failure? Board/RAM problem? Bios needs changing?

I am new to PC building, and I have just put together my first system. So I have everything assembled, system turns on, and I hear 1 short beep. I can go into my motherboard BIOS screen, and even begin installing Windows 7. However, after about 4-5 minutes, the computer will just turn itself off. According to my motherboards beep codes, 1 short beep means a DRAMS refresh failure. Is this RAM related? Now I tried to unhook the ram, switch the spots on the board, and plug it back in, but I got the same problem. Is this perhaps faulty RAM? Or is a motherboard/power supply issue? Here are the components I am using:
    Patriot Gaming Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model PGS34G1333ELK
    MSI H55-GD65 Motherboard
    Intel Corei5 750 Processor
eVGA GTS 450 Video Card (01G-P3-1450-TR)
Cooler Master 650W Power Supply ATX 12v
I am new when it comes to all this, so is it possible I need to set ram timing in my BIOS? As far as I know, the 2 ram sticks should be compatible with my motherboard.
Any help would be great, and I can supply more information if need be.

When you the system continues to booting something (e.g. Windows Setup CD), then that one beep is probably a power-good signal or indicates an installed USB device, however, it cannot really be a sign of a critical error, otherwise the system would simply halt when it beeps and you would probably see nothing on the screen at all.
Test with one memory module only and make sure the memory command rate is set to 2T.  If you still experience sudden shut-downs or reboots, please check the CPU Temperature in BIOS Setup (H/W Monitor section) to make sure this is not a simple overheating issue.  Often, such reboots indicate a problem with the PSU.  So, you might want to check that as well.

  • InDesign (and Acrobat) poor performance after virus - ideas?

    Hi everyone,
we have a problem with our system (spec listed below); I've also posted in the Acrobat forum since it is affected as well.
    System
    Dell Precision T7400
    CPU(s): dual quad core Xeons
RAM: originally 2GB, upgraded to 4GB 1 day ago
    OS: XP 32-bit
Adobe Software: Originally CS3 Suite, now CS5 Suite
                             Acrobat 9 Pro
    Problem
Acrobat: 1. stutters slowly when scrolling, almost crashes
                 2. Takes 4X longer than before to "Reduce file size" for PDFs
InDesign: stutters slowly when working with text and tables, almost crashes
    Cause
Virus infultrated system about 1 month ago.
    Attempts
    1. Re-imaged disc and installed software based mirroring software with 2 extra backup drives: system still lags
    2. Re-formatted, reinstalled: system still lags
    3. Turned off mirroring: helped a little
    4. Ran various memory, motherboard tests: nothing found
    5. varified all BIOS and firmware up to date
    6. Uninstalled mirroring software, installed hardware based mirroring software, reformatted, reinstalled: system still lags
    7. Tried working with files directly from C:/ with no mirroring: system still lags
    8. Installed fresh 4GB memory: system still lags
    9. Have tried all methods of helping InDesigns performance but no luck.
    Thoughts
Comparing this system to my old laptop (Centrino Dual Core), the laptop runs about 4X faster since the virus. Before the virus, this system was a dream to work with, super fast speed, never lagged.
I keep thinking that the virus must have damaged somthing on the motherboard, but error messages or motherboard beep codes.
Any other suggestions (short of shotting this system) would be greatly appreciated.

You didn't actually re-flash your BIOS, did you? Yes
If it was fast before the infection, and slow after the reformat, then this is pretty much the only place that anything could be different. I'd be more inclined to test hardware than continue chasing software, in your shoes.
Ran various RAM tests, and the BIOS shows nothing out of the ordinary.
But it's certainly nothing to do with the software, unless the new install was botched for reasons having nothing to do with the virus, or that the virus is actually hiding in one of the spots on the motherboard that can be written to, like the BIOS.
Clear one thing up for us - you say
Adobe Software: Originally CS3 Suite, now CS5 Suite
Does that mean "it ran like a dream with CS3, but now that I have CS5 it's running slow?" Because, if so, you're chasing a red herring - CS5 consumes a lot more in terms of computing resources than does CS3. You should be looking at how to tame CS5's resource consumption, and there are plenty of threads about that.
After the reformat, CS3 Indesign was a dog as well as Acrobat 9 Pro. Upgraded to new CS5 Suite (all but Acrobat 9 Pro). CS3 & 5 Indesign still a dog as well as Acrobat 9 Pro
Lastly, I haven't seen malware hiding in flash ROM on the motherboard more than once in the last decade. It wouldn't generate any error messages or beep codes, either.
Same here, have not witnessed malware/viri infultrating the BIOS since back in 99'. Never the less, it's the only idea I can come up with. I have yet to locate any software for testing the NVIDIA NVS 290 video card. This is the strangest issue I have seen ever.
