I am trying to deactivate PSE 13 from my current PC so that I can add it to my new PC, but when I go to the uninstall, there is no option to deactivate, I have searched all the "help" tabs and have done several "searches" but nothing is helping. Do I need to deactivate PSE 9?

I need to replace my internal hard drive on my Toshiba 17" PC Notebook as it has only a few GB's of free space (much less than 25%).
I have the replacement drive and what I intend doing is to take a mirror copy of my existing drive, to install that onto my new much larger drive when it is insitu in the Tosh. This is so that I can run my Tosh without having to reinstall from scratch Windows Vista and all my other s/w on the new drive.
If I do it this by this method, do I need to deactivate PSE 9?
Also, can anyone see any problems lurking concerning PSE 9, especially involving PSE's Organizer as it has many thousands of image files, largely on an external passport-size external HDD? (these are backed up via PSE 9 onto another external HDD).

Hi, I want to deactivate PSE 7 on a computer, and use the same license on another. Is this possible with Photoshop Elements 7 ?

Most versions of PSE 7 don't have activation, so if there is nothing in the Help menu, no problem.

Deactivate PSE 12

Do I need to deactivate PSE 12 to do a reinstall? The program will not run properly and I will try a uninstall then reinstall to try to fix it.

When I open a NEF "Nikon RAW" file in the editor it opens in Camera RAW as it should and I open it in the editor and try to close the editor I get the following error and the editor will not close.
I have to go to Windows "Task Manager" to close it.

I installed PSE on two computers. One, a tower PC, crashed and the hard drive was corrupt. We have since replaced that computer. The second licence was activated on our laptop. I recently reinstalled the OS on the laptop and reinstalled PSE. I am now getting a warning saying I have exceeded my two licence limit and need to deactivate a previous activation. Except both previous activations have been corrupt or deleted and cannnot be deactivated? Is there any way to address this besides calling Adobe?

The Editor suddenly started crashing. I am attempting to deactivate PSE8 before uninstalling and reinstalling it I inderstand from previous threads in this forum that deactivation is done through the Editor Help. Since I can't reach the Editor, what do I do?

Thanks again for commenting on my problem. Troubles with computers is truly
a problem for us old guys. Searching the internet hasn't provided definitive
information. The most straightforward advise was yours. One site said that
even uninstalling PSE8 wasn't all that straight forward because numerous
files could (would) be left behind that could (would) create problems in the
reloaded program. All this leaves me uncertain what to do next. Consequently
I have elected to contact Adobe Support first, if that's possible, to get
further instructions. I contacted Adobe on the internet and "spoke" with a
chap who eventually said to call the 800 support number. I'll try doing that
tomorrow. Worse comes to worse I'll go ahead and uninstall and reinstall and
take my chances with what happens. Losing the tagging would be a major
setback however. On the positive side, this problem is minor compared to
what life can throw at us. Will let you know what transpires. Have a great
day.

Need to reinstall PSE 11 on a new hard drive original hard drive failed. Obviously can't deactivate

My hard drive crashed and I'm going to have to install a new hard drive and re-install PSE 11. The instructions to put another copy on a new computer is to deactivate PSE from the old computer . Am I going to do that since it calls for me to deactivate from the internet from the original computer. I'm assuming no. What do I do?

If you Hd has crashed then clearly you can't deactivate the product. Therefore, just go ahead and install the product on a new machine and then try to activate it online. If this is your second activation then it will activate automatically otherwise you need to contact the Adobe Customer Service at this link:

How do I move PSE 9 from desktop to laptop after I install new PSE11?

Just received PSE 11, want it on my desktop and then move PSE 9 from desktop to laptop? It there a sequence that will prevent problems?

First make a full backup in PSE 9 using the organizer's backup command, then install PSE 9 on the laptop and restore the backup there. If all is well, you can then deactivate PSE 9 on the desktop if you don't want it there anymore (not required, unless you've already installed it on a third computer). When you install PSE 11 it should find and update your catalog on that for you.
If you don't use organizer, it doesn't really matter how you do it.

PSE 10 Catalog from old XP laptop to new Windows 7 laptop

I have an old laptop with Photoshop Elements 10 and Windows XP. I am now changing to a new laptop with Windows 7 (64). Based on my understanding I should make to following steps:
With old XP laptop: Create a full backup of the catalog to an external harddrive using PSE 10 Organizer's Backup Catalog -function.
Install PSE 10 SW to the new Windows 7 laptop.
Restore the backup from the external harddrive to new laptop using Restore Catalog -function.
Deactivate PSE 10 from the old XP laptop.
However, I am a bit puzzled with the step #3 and I thought I ask first before doing anything.
In the old XP laptop I have all the pictures in the D:\<my username>\My Documents\My Pictures -directory. In that directory I have different kind of sub-folders for my pictures.
In the new Win 7 laptop I should have those in D:\userdata\<my username>\My Documents\My Pictures -directory.
As you can see there is a slight difference in those directory-paths. Due to that I assume I cannot use "Original Location" as a restore method. However, I want to keep those sub-folders which I have under My Pictures, so I cannot use "New Location" either. But if I use "New Location with the Restore Original Folder Structure" I guess I wll have something like D:\userdata\<my username>\My Documents\My Pictures\<my username>\My Documents\My Pictures or...?
So, just asking what is the proper way to proceed if I want to have same folder structure under My Pictures - folder, but use Windows 7 default path for My Pictures?

I guess it is always good to ask, since immediately after posting this question I realized I should use "New Location with the Restore Original Folder Structure" and the new location is just D:\userdata\
Of course, if you have any additional comments/instructions I should take into account, just let me know.

Re-install PSE 9

Following a virus attack, I have had a "factory reset" on my pc. Couldn't deactivate PSE 9 before "crash". Now can't re-install as I have PSE 9 on a laptop and have "used all installs". MS Office allowed me to re-install after contacting. Can't find out how to do this with PSE. Any help?

If you uninstall PSE 9 & reinstall it will PSE rebuild my organiser?

I need to uninstall PSE 9 and then reinstall it (to hopefully resolve some problems). If I do this, will PSE on the reinstall, rebuild the Organiser as it is with all my categories,tags and albums etc.,or will I have to start all over again?

Thanks Ankush, you set my mind at rest and I successfully uninstalled and reinstalled PSE 9 whilst keeping my organiser's photo-collection all safe and correctly tagged etc.
One thing though for anyone reading this discussion, with PSE 9 (and I believe PSE 8 too), it is important to deactivate PSE 9 BEFORE uninstalling it (which I did). This is found under Help in the Editor.
So that was the good news, the bad news is that uninstalling and reinstalling PSE 9 didn't help my problems (not finding and playing music files for slideshows) as they remain not installed. Maybe, there is a preference file or something like that which is carried forward within the catalog or somewhere in PSE from other versions of PSE that were on my PC. Hey ho!

Deactivating ane uninstalling PSE 12

I want to deactivate and unistall PSE 12, because neither the Welcome screen nor the Organizer will launch on my computer. In PSE 11 I could deactivate the program in the Editor, but that option is removed from the Editor in PSE 12. I have to unistall the program, and try to install it on another computer. Is there another way to deactivate PSE 12 when I cannot do it in the Editor? Øivind

In PSE 12, Editor>Help>Sign Out is how you deactivate.

How do i deactivate my pse13

How do I deactivate PSE 13 on my old computer so that I can activate it on a my new computer? I have been round & round on the adobe site looking for help. They say to click on HELP on PSE13 and then click on deactivate. I do not find the 'deactivate' under help.
