Deactivated CS2

mac crashed...got refurbisihed machine at authorized mac service,,,they used my hardrives, ram, etc. Cs2 was deactivated   cant get it back...adobe lack of customer service sent me here, after giving me a download and serial# that didnt work. Im running 10.4.11

The .bin suffix is a binary compressed file. You need the free Stuffit expander to open it.  You will then have a .dmg file.  This is a disk image file.  You double click on this file, and it mounts a virtual disk on your desktop.  If you then open the disk image there will usually be an installer of some sort in it.  Instructions on how to install the software are usually included.

  • Deactivating CS2

I recently sold my Mac that had PS (CS2) on it. I did a reinstall of the OS (returning it back to it's "new" state) and built the machine up from scratch. I have not reinstalled CS2 on any machine and have no use for it moving forward. I wanted to know if my copy of CS2 is deactivated or do I need to do something else to deactivate it?

My hard drive died. I did not have the opportunity to deactivate when the drive died. I would like to reinstall CS2 on my new hard drive on my old machine or install anew on a new machine.
I can not figure out how to install CS2. When I install I get an invalid serial number message even though I have the packaging in front of me and I know it is correct.
Are there two problems here? the installation and the s# error?

  • Activating -deactivating CS2

I have CS2 active on an old MacBook and CS4 active on an old iMac. I used Migration Assistant to transfer from old iMac to new iMac and now CS4 won't startup, only produces a warning that there is a licensing problem. Tried Chat, but got no solution. Do I need to deactivate CS2? And so how, there is no uninstaller.

    Completely irrelevant because of this:
Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3
YOu simply need to reinstall your CS4 properly.

  • Trouble installing cs2 upgrade in Windows 7 64 bit

I have recently bought a new computer and I am transferring programs.  I have deactivated cs2 on my old computer.  I am trying to install it on my new computer with OS windows 7 64 bit.  The CS2 is an upgrade from adobe Photoshop 5.02.  When I try to install the cs2 upgrade it asks for validation of ownership of Photoshop 5.02.  It does not recognize the cd when I put it in the cd player.  I have not been able to install Photoshop 5.02 onto my new computer using the cd (even when I use the compatibility trouble shooter and change settings to xp service pack 2. I have transfered the 5.02 over to my new computer via USB and can even run it.  However, CS2 upgrade will not recognize 5.02 even when I browse to the program folder.  Any other thoughts or suggestions would be very appreciated.

Find the registry keys for the program on your old machine, export them to a file, import them on the new system. regedit is your friend. Should be in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Adobe somewhere...

  • Activating CS2

I have reinstalled CS2 after completely erasing and reformatting my new Macbook Pro hard drive.
For some reason i cannot activate Photoshop.
(Working on the assumption that my old Macbook Pro's activation may still be current (it's not available for access at the moment) I have deactivated CS2 on my desktop computer.)
    Where to now?

Most likely you'l have to get in touch with Adobe to resolve this problem.
Contact Adobe Support to activate by phone, 1-866-772-3623.

  • Photoshop CS2 Serial Number Not Working

I recently got a new laptop, and I want to transfer the CS2 activation from my old desktop to my new laptop. I deactivated CS2 on my old computer, but when I try to activate it on my new laptop, I'm told that the serial number isn't valid.
    I use Window's Vista.
    Thanks!

CS2 is not Vista compatible. You need to upgrade.
And, once again, this is not correct. CS2 is not officicially supported for Vista, but, for most people, runs quite well.

  • Mac: Upgrading PS CS2 to PS CS3; LR sees CS3 - what I did.

After reading several threads asking about upgrading from CS2 to CS3 and how that impacts LR, I decided to bite the bullet and did things the way I wanted. Here are my results for a MacBookPro 2 GB ram, core duo:
    * I first deactived CS2, since I didn't want to keep it. Might use it on another mac.
    * I then used App Zapper to uninstall CS2. This deletes the app's folder along with folders in the library or other files related to CS2.
    * Installed PSCS3 extended and activated.
Finally invoked LR and chose an image. When I clicked on the Photo menu item, a submenu item was "edit in Adobe Photoshop CS3" (no reference to CS2). I tested it and sure enough, it all worked.

I believe it is.... but I could be wrong.
Also realize that although a few Adobe employees may be kind enough to visit the forums on their own time, this is a user to user forum and not a direct route to Adobe support. So, no one here has control over the KB.

  • CS2 Serial Number Not Valid

I recently got a new laptop, and I want to transfer the CS2 activation from my old desktop to my new laptop. I deactivated CS2 on my old computer, but when I try to activate it on my new laptop, I'm told that the serial number isn't valid.
    I use Window's Vista.
    Thanks!

Now, I have never done any trial of any Adobe software, so this might not be valid.
When installing any of my upgrades, I have never had to have the program installed. After the installer surveys my system, I have always been given the option of inserting the original program's installation disc, for verification. Now, I have been upgrading from 2.5 for all those versions. I have also never used any download, except for patches, etc.
It was not until I upgraded from PS to Production Studio, that I had a "full-version" of PS, between then and version 2.5. Everything else was an upgrade disc, purchased directly from the Adobe Store.
I would also think that if you are running the trial, it would not care what other Adobe programs you have, or had, but could be wrong on this.
I would only download any trial directly from Adobe, and no where else.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Cannot open CS3 from Lightroom

Lightroom will not now open the image into CS3.
    Worked OK before.
    Any idea's, please.

    >"Hi Pierre, when you said "upgrade", you mean CS3 full install or using using the upgrade CDs? If using the upgrade CDs, (unless you don't need existing CS2 to be on the drive) wouldn't you need the CS2 to be installed first before using the upgrade CDs?
Also, when you said "unregistered", does that mean running the Disk Repair utility to repair the permissions?"
I was loose with my terminlolgy - I bought a new version of CS3. Before installing it, I deactivated CS2 (or whatever the term is - this unregistered the product at Adobe). Then I used AppZapper (Mac) to delete CS2 and all it's associated files, then installed CS3.
Why didn't I buy the upgrade? I'm an educator and get the educational version - $285 is much better than $999 for PSCS3 extended!

  • Moving ps from old computer hard drive OS XP to new computer OS WIn7

Please see the attached doc file. If I have not posted this in the right place please advise me as to it has been posted
    Thank you.

The doc was clean, but the OP should have copied and pasted the contents, they are very short: This is the content
I have purchase a new computer with Windows 7  for the operating system. I have the old computer’s hard drive which I plan to connect up to the new computer as an external hard drive. The old computer’s OS is Windows XP. Photoshop V6 and updated to Photoshop CS2 are properly installed on the old computer’s hard drive. How do I go about moving / transferring Photoshop to the new computer from the hard drive of the old computer?  Due to OS installation problems on the new computer I have lost the 2nd install of PS v6 from the install CD, also there is a 30 trial of PS CS2 on the hard drive of the new computer. I have the installation  CDs and key numbers for both v6 and  CS2. Also see  TS case 181364257. Would software such as “Magical Jelly Bean “be of any use in making this transfer?
The answer is, you should have deactivated CS2 and then re-installed on the new computer. It appears you did not, so phone Adobe Customer Service to have the activations re-set.

  • Deactivating and reinstalling CS2?

About 6 months ago I got a nasty virus that caused my cs2 to stop working. I cannot get any of the programs to load...I always get error messages. Is there another way to deactivate it so I can reinstall the programs? I cannot get into any program so I cannot go to the help section.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I deactivated my CS2, installed CS4 and gave my full version copy to a friend. Filled out the proper and legal paper work (Adobe Transfer of License) and faxed it in the first week of April, 2009. I even called before hand and gave them all my info along with the scenario so they knew what I was going to do. No problem they say. I sent the T.o.L, wait a few days, call to check status. Everything is Okay they say. So my friend downloads the software and he gets a message that the serial number is invalid. I call Adobe, they say they never received the fax, a week before they knew the customer id and name of whom I was transferring the license to, but today those records have been wiped clean. So I fax them another T.o.L. guess what, it still doesn't work. Now Adobe is telling me that the serial number shows it was on a Mac so it can't be used on a PC. Neither of us owns a Mac! I call a few days later (a Saturday) and insist on speaking with the Manager (Maxwell Johnson supposedly) and he tells me he will check into this matter and I am to call back on Tuesday. Of no surprise he is not in. So I call back on Wednesday. Of no surprise he is out this week. The CSR proceeds to offer her assistance. I tell her she can't help because no one else has been able to including her so called manager "Mr. Maxwell Johnson". She gets persistent along with RUDE and tells me that the software that the serial number I am referring to had been returned to Adobe so there is no way that I can utilize it and says "also we no longer support CS2". How convenient. So here is this pricey software that works just fine, but no way to use it. I searched the net to find that many others are having the same issue and it has been in the past 3-4 months. I have no doubt in my mind that this is Adobe's way of trying to force us to upgrade to make them more money. Adobe you are pathetic!

  • Photoshop CS2 not deactivated on old computer

    Hi there!
I forgot to deactivate Photoshop CS2 on the old computer before deinstalling it and now I have problems with registration on the new computer. The message for registration is coming up each time I start Photoshop CS2. The old computer is now erased. What do I do to avoid this upcoming message? And how can I activate Photoshop CS2(for windows) on the new computer?
    Sincerly,
    Oystein Berntsen

Obernt one of our support staff will need to increase your amount of allowable activations.  For the best assistance, I recommend our chat support at http://adobe.ly/v6wfLL.  Our chat representatives can provide a personalized experience to resolve the issue you have described.

  • CS2 deactivation on other computers

I want to install and activate my old version of CS2 on my pc that is running on windows 8.1.  I have no idea how many times I have activated this program or on how many computers.  Is there a way to deactivate all but one?

The activation servers for CS2 have been shut down. You can download a new
installer but be aware that the chances of a successful install of CS2 on
Windows 8 is not good at all.

  • CS2 pretends to load on XP-Mode in W7Pro but nothing there

We run CS4 on a Win 7 Pro 64 bit PC, and everything is fine for our contemporary work.
However, we have a few older books written using ID-CS2 and from time to time, they need simple changes that should take about 30 seconds to do, and then export as a PDF for publishing (POD).
When we imported them into CS4 we encountered just enough formatting problems to worry us. We want to do a simple fix, but in order to assure quality control, we would have to schedule and assign an editor to look at every word and page to make sure the conversion did not cause a problem. So, we thought, the easier and faster solution is to install the original CS2 disks using XP Mode which is running great on the Win-7 PC.  So we dusted off the old CS2 box, pulled out install disk one and began the install process, scheduling it to run during coffee break.
We went through the normal steps - license accept, enter name/org/serial number, select install all (we tried it both ways actually). It then asks for disk two, then disk three, then disk four... allowing about 30 second each. Then the installer program says it is done, and it invites us to activate which we do.
When it is done we go to the program listings and find nothing, no Adobe programs or menus. A restart does not help. So we go to reinstall, it says it is already on there, but shows that none of the modules are installed... only the shared files. Deleting/deactivating and doing it over does nothing. Bottom line, the installed pretends to install but does not.
A call to Adobe support in India or whatever was worse than useless. After spending ten minutes verifying who I was, and then asking a whole series of questions that suggested the gentleman did not have a clue what was going on, he then informed me that Adobe no longer supports CS2. Argh!!! Why not say that in the first 30 seconds? I wonder how many cumulative number of hours (centuries) have been lost to civilization by "help" phone support?
So, does anyone know what is happening, and more to the point, is it something we can fix so the disks actually install rather than fake it?
For those punters preferring to give business advice, please don't reply with advice to the effect of "dump CS2"; we have good business reasons why we are doing this. Yes, we know our alternative is to dust off one of the older pc's, find a screen, find a free desk and run it on there, but this too is inefficient and prone to its own problems. At this time, we only seek to learn if anyone else has encountered the same problem and/or knows a way to fix it.

    I have the same problem.
I installed Dreamweaver CS5 and Adobe Exchange Manager for CS5 too in my Lenovo 760p Windows 7 x64.
The extension not open and appear this errors in the log.

Please tell us what is the issue?

  • Adobe Creative Suite 2 Will not work after deactivation

First off, I don't get this company. I had to let that out.
I had an issue I started out with by not knowing which computer had my Adobe Photoshop on so I ended up Googling an answer over how to deactivate my product. It led me to a chat with a representative:

After doing what she asked, I deactivated, and uninstalled my Adobe Creative Suite 2. Everything. So after all this, I reinstalled, entered in the new serial I got through their webpage for the special version after creating an Adobe ID. Guess what? After an unpleasant re-installation process (there is three downloaded parts you have to download for CS2 in which disc2 and disc3 are set on a default path that is separate from disc1 which you need to converge being it creates two folders with similar naming structures), and I ended up opening Adobe Photoshop only to find it say the very same thing I meant to avoid: your serial, name, organization, yadha, yadha, is incorrect/missing. Adobe will now close.
So frustrated with this company, and its support.

Well, now I cannot reproduce the error because I cannot install it again! Woohoo! For some reason, all three discs executables try installing the folders, files, etc... into a different folder making it when I try installing CS2 impossible since it asks for Disc 2, Disc 3, etc..
ANYWAY, my main issue was began with when I somehow managed to install it correctly, I got the very same message I contacted you guys over: Adobe Photoshop will now close because missing serial number something like that, and following it saying it will close.
