Deactivating Acrobat from a stolen computer

I need to deactivate Acrobat from a stolen computer. How can I do this?

Unfortunately we cannot remotely deactivate an Acrobat license.  If you require help getting your copy of Acrobat activated on the replacement computer, please contact our support staff and explain the situation: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/

  • Can I use Time Machine to recover backed-up files from a stolen computer?

    Hi everyone,
I used Time Machine to back up my MacBook Pro but unfortunately it was stolen this week. I'm going to buy a new MacBook Pro and would like to recover the backed-up files from my old computer via Time Machine, though not necessarily transform the new computer into a clone of the old one. Can anyone point me to step-by-step directions for how to do this with Time Machine? Is there a way of using Time Machine to select, a la carte, which backed-up data you want to restore to your new machine, or is it an all-or-nothing deal?
Thanks for your help and advice!

    Yes. Use the migration assistant.
First, I'd set up the new computer and choose not to migrate any data (this sometimes causes issues). Run all software updates, then run the Migration Assistant (In applications). It will allow you to choose a time capsule to migrate information from. You will be able to choose what information to pull from the time capsule: it won't simply clone the old computer.

  • Windows 7 and Acrobat from an XP computer

I  have had a desktop with Windows XP OS and now have switched to a desktop with Windows 7 OS. I had Acrobat 10.0 on the XP computer. I took the Adobe files off of that computer and put them on an external hard drive. Can I now put Acrobat 10.0 on the Win 7 computer? If so, what steps should I follow? I received a response once, I think, from somewhere that said I couldn't put Acrobat 10.0 on a Win 7 computer. If it makes a difference, my Acrobat goes all the way back to a 6.0 disk.

Yes you can download Acrobat X from here : http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-acrobat-x-10-pro-reader-suite-direct-download-links-ddl.ht ml
Make sure you follow the steps mentioned there

  • Restore Time machine backup from a stolen computer to a different Mac Pro

*My Mac Book Pro was stolen.* It had some Time Machine backups, but Time Machine had stopped working about 6 months before it was stolen. I had stopped using the USB drive since TM would never complete. (2 issues)
    1. When I plugged in this USB backup disk to the Mac Pro just now, it asked me whether to use Time Machine with it. It told it no, ask me later so I could browse it first.
    2. It looks like the old problem with Time Machine not backing up the stolen laptop shows up as a file called "2008-09-22.204132.inProgress". I am hoping that the backups previous to that one are okay. So far, browsing the files appears to me that my data is intact but perhaps spread across 40 folders.
So now, what should I do to retrieve the data I want?
    A. Copy the data files and pictures manually without Time Machine? How do I know I will get the latest versions?
    B. Use Time Machine with this disk and somehow ask TM to restore to a different machine? (Is that even possible?) (Will it merge the files into my user folders?)
    C. Use Migration Assistant?
    D. Copy and paste the entire file structure to a directory someplace and pull off the data as I need it?
*End result: I want my external hard disk wiped ASAP, and in the meantime I want my data files preserved.*
The old MacBook Pro definitely did not have Snow Leopard but the MacPro does to which I want to copy the data. It probably had Leopard. But honestly my user data is not necessary, just primarily the data, pictures, DVD projects, etc.
As a side note: My old laptop and my MacPro used the same username and password.

start Migration Assistant located in /Application/Utilies. it has an option to migrate your data and applications from a TM backup. migrate what you want. note that users will be migrated to new users so to access your old home directory you'll have to log out and log in as the migrated user.

  • Trying to install Adobe acrobat from disk to computer error keeps saying can't complete instillation

Trying to install this piece of crap program from adobe "acrobat" that they offer no support for. It is 11 Standard and I have windows 8 and keeps telling me in error can't complete instillation. No other details. Any ideas? Can't believe they sell this for the price of a tv and offer only us to help each other.

    Hi Jennifer ,
Sorry to hear that you are experiencing with Acrobat .
Could you please tell is there any error number or exit code mentioned along with the error message ?
It might be possible due to insufficient space on your machine ,it is not letting you install Acrobat .
You could try deleting the temporary files from your system once and check if that helps .And make sure all the third party software are disabled while the installation is in progress .
I would also suggest you to refer the following document to seek help .Have a look at this document and see if that fixes the issue .

  • I am a registered owner of Acrobat Pro v. 10. I am migrating to a new computer. Can I still uninstall Acrobat from my old computer and load it onto my new computer as I did once before?

That is my question. How do I proceed?

The answer is "Yes".  Deactivate it through the Help menu before uninstalling it though.

  • If a thief were to log access Firefox or Thunderbird from my stolen computer is there any way it might help to recover it?

above seems a pretty straight forward question

No, there is no way that Mozilla can remotely track where a user's PC is being used.

I deactivated Acrobat 9 Pro from a Windows 8 laptop and installed it on a new Windows 8 laptop and got the error message "Invalid Serial Number." I am entitled to this installation, can someone help?

I see that the number in my Adobe Account is a MAC serial number – I purchased both the Mac and Windows versions of the program. I tried to enter the serial number of the Windows version into my account and it says it’s already registered. But when I installed the Windows version on a Windows computer I got the invalid serial number message. They have two different serial numbers! Can you help me with this?

  • HT203167 So my iPhone was stolen and most of the music on there was on a computer that I don't have anymore. Is it possible to get those songs back from my stolen phone or are they gone?

So my iPhone was stolen and most of the music on there was on a computer that I don't have anymore. Is it possible to get those songs back from my stolen phone or are they gone?

For iTunes purchased music you might be able to re-download it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes. For music from other sources (e.g. copied from CDs) then unless you had subscribed to iTunes Match and uploaded it to it from your computer then no, it won't be stored anywhere

  • Delete computer authorization of a stolen computer from an other computer.

My wifes computer got stolen a few days ago. Can I delete the ITunes computer authorization of that computer from an other computer?

The only way to delete a computer you haven't got is if you have reached the limit of 5 authorisations, you can de-authorise all computers once a year from a single one: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation
You could try contacting the iTunes Music Store Customer Service and possibly there is something that can be done from their end. You can email them from any of the links on this page: iTMS Customer Service

I deactivated and checked the box for remove entire product from my old computer and now the serial number is saying it is not valid when I try to use it on my new computer even after registering it, any ideas?

I am beginning to think that this is the issue - i have downloaded the CC version - why are they not the same serial number. ALSO Adobe is really hard to navigate - i can't even find the stand alone version to download.
The CC version doesn't use a serial number. Is activated with your Adobe ID and password. And it's all tied to your account being paid current. Other than that, the programs are the same. You have been provided the link to the standalone installation in the comment above this one.
