Deactivating Photoshop Elements 8 on an old (dead) computer

I'm trying to install Photoshop 8 on a second computer. I get a message saying that I already have two copies installed and have to deactivate one. In fact, I have only one copy installed, but I had originally installed it on an older computer, which I replaced in 2011 because the hard disk failed.
The Photoshop Elements support page indicated that I had to start a chat about this problem, but the chat window pointed me back to the support page. I also saw a page that said I could deactivate a copy on a computer I no longer had access to from within the program itself on the computer I did have access to. However, I don't see how to do this. There is a "Deactivate" link under "Help", but it only allows me to deactivate the copy on the computer I'm using.
How can I deactivate this original copy, when it's on a computer that hasn't been usable for two years?

We've been having internet problems, so I dropped this Photoshop thing for a while. I thought my problem had been resolved, but the solution didn't really work. I tried to install Photoshop on the second computer. I got a message saying I already had two copies installed. There was a link to click to indicate that I had deactivated one copy, which I clicked. Then there was a message saying that Adobe would be contacted to verify my number of copies. After a short pause, the message was that I could use this copy only for a certain number of days, I think 15.
I'll try the chat again and hope to get it working this time.

  • Deactivated Photoshop Elements

I deactivated Photoshop Elements 10 from my old Mac to install it on my new Mac but I don't find the serial number. I bought the CD at Best Buy at least 2 years ago. Is Adobe keeping record of the computers IP so they can see I am not cheating? I would like to be able to use the software on my new laptop. Thanks.

  • How do I activate Photoshop Elements 8.0 on a new computer after breakdown of the old computer?

How do I activate Photoshop Elements 8.0 on a new computer after breakdown of the old computer (hard disc failure). Adope does not realize that I can not use this old computer anymore. I do not want to buy a new lizence.

If you mean you are getting a warning about having too many activations, you need to contact activation support:

There's usually a place in that window where you can start a chat session and get it straightened out right then.

  • Deactivating Photoshop Elements 10 on a computer I do not have access to

I recently sold my old Windows laptop without realising I hadn't deactivated Photoshop Elements 10. When I go to activate my product on my new Windows laptop it says I have reached the activation limit. I went onto Adobe Support and it told me to Contact them by clicking a link. I clicked this link and it just took me back to the previous page where I had to enter my product and the problem I had with the activation/deactivation. This is really frustrating as it feels like I'm going around in circles in an attempt to contact Adobe.
This is the first page where I entered my product information: Contact Customer Care
This is the second page, when I click Contact Us it takes me back to the first page: Error "Activation limit reached" or "Sign in failed" | Adobe products
    Thanks in Advance

Here is a link for chat support.  You may have to wait until after the weekend to get help, but they have the ability to deactivate for machines that are no longer accessible.

Unfortunately, adobe doesn't have photoshop elements 6 available for download, as far as i know, so your best bet is to either get an usb dvd drive or use an computer with a dvd drive and copy the contents of the pse 6 dvd to somethiing like
a flash drive and then copy the contents from that drive to your new computer.
Do you still have your older mac and it has a dvd drive?
You can share files between the two using airdrop or an ethernet cable.

You should probably just download the trial version of pse 12 and see if you can live with it.
Download a free trial or buy Adobe products | Adobe downloads
That being said, have you tried to install pse 1 on your computer?
How much free space is on your hard drive?
Do you have Internet Explorer 10 or 11?
Pse 1 can run on windows 7 x64, provided certain conditions are met.

I had Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 on old computer & transferred to new computer - this file is now empty, so I must have deleted photos.   Is it possible to restore them?

Photoshop Elements 4 is too old. It was written for PowerPC Macs and will not work on new Intel Macs. There is nothing you can do about it.

    Hello shiv99,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you have used Home Sharing to play the music from one computer on another, but now you would like to only use the new computer. It sounds as though you have set up the content to share between computers, but have not actually I’m ported the media from the old computer to the new one. I would suggest following the troubleshooting steps located in the attached article to import you music from the old computer to the new one. After that process is complete, you can turn off Home Sharing if you would like and the content will be in the iTunes library on your new computer.

    Have a great day,

If you have a CD for your product (I assume that is where you got the serial number from!!) then you can insert it in the drive on your new machine and install it in the usual way.
If the new machine hasn't got a CD/DVD drive then you can use another machine and copy the contents of the CD to a flash drive and use the USB port on the new machine to install the product.
Of course you can buy an external DVD drive and use it as well if that is what you want to do.
If, however, you don't have a CD for your product then I am afraid it is difficult to download it from Adobe website.

  • W do I transfer Photoshop Elements 9 from my old computer to my new one?

I want to transfer Photoshop Elements 9 from my old computer to my new computer running Windows 8. I don't need to transfer photos. Just the software. Is this going to be a pain?

no problem, just re-install pse 9 onto your new computer and activate with your serial number.
if you no longer need the original pse 9 installation, deactivate it (help>deactivate) and then uninstall it.
if you need the installation file for pse 9 and if you follow all 7 steps, you can dl a trial via one of the links on this page:  http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-9-premiere-elements-9-direct-download-links.h tml
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a dl problem, you didn't follow all 7 steps.  typically, failure to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 is the problem.

  • Why does Photoshop Elements not remove the old version after installing an upgrade?

When I install a new version of Photoshop Elements, it converts the old catalog but does not remove the old programs.  I just installed PS 11 over PS 10 and it did not remove it.  I have had the same problem with each upgrade.  I have to manually uninstall the old version.
    Thanks.

It's good to have the software you paid for
Uninstalling the older version post an upgrade might be discomforting to many users, so...
Catalog conversion works fine irrespective of whether you uninstall or do not uninstall the older version since the catalog folders are not touched during uninstall.
    Thanks

You are allowed to have two activated installations.  If you happened to have one on this Windows 8 machine before, it is possible that the activation used for it was never deactivated (did you deactivate it before you upgraded Windows?).  Talk to Adobe support thru chat.  They might be able to resolve this with you:
