Dead after power black out

The chance for this happening must be like winning the lottery
I was sitting home sync'n my iPhone when iTunes come up with a new update, I started to update my iPhone and just when it was about to get up to 60% complete when there was a black oute in my hose, after this there was no chance of turning the phone on. The phone don't respond to anything any more.
What do I need to do? Any one out there who can help me?

Hey bjorn27,
Try charging the iPhone from the wall adapter or your iMac for about 20 minutes. Also test with another USB dock adapter cable.
If it powers on, attempt to restore it: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305744
If it still does not power on at all, it may need hardware repair.
You can make a reservation to have a Mac Genius take a look at it online here:

  • Trouble with a Linkysys Wireless-N Router WRT-160W After a black out

So like the subject says I am having trouble with the router. Last night there was a major storm in my town and the power and cable were out for hours. When it came back (it was only for about twenty minutes) the network was there but I was not able to connect to it from any of my computers. The desktop however that was hardlined to it works fine on the internet. I've tried restarting the modem the computers, and the router, pushing the reset buttons, even holding the reset button to the point it made the router act like its being used for the first time and creating a new network but I still can't connect to it. I only bot this router a couple of months ago so I'd hate to have to buy a new one.
    Any help would be appreciate.
    Thanks.

Are you using Cable connection or DSL connection ?
If you are using cable connection then follow this link and if you are using DSL connection then follow this link to configure your router. This should fix the issue for you.

  • IPOD will not turn on, after power ran out and charging for two days.

Slept off while using my IPOD, noticed the next morning that the battery was flat, i charged the IPOD, for one day, try to turn it on nothing happened, charged it for the second day, same thing, it refuses to turn on. Please i will like tips and help on how to go about resolving this problem. Note a friend had same problem and had to charge hers for one days before the IPOD turned on.

    If not this:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Have to do a clean install of ea2700 after power goes out.

This is about to cause me to buy another router. This will be the 4th clean install that I have had to do. If my power, or my internet goes down, a regular proper reboot / or reset, will not get my ea2700 back online. It takes uninstalling & deletion of the stored Application Data files.

Okay, I have just reinstalled & it is working fine. Oddly, I did not get a request to update the firmware this time, like I have before. I did select the last time, that I did not want to be using the cloud & apps. Maybe this is why? Although, on previous installs, it has asked every time & I selected the same answer each time.
Here's some of the info from the Cisco Connect Router details:
    Model name: Linksys EA2700
    Model number: EA2700
    Firmware version: 1.0.14.129982
Operating system: Windows XP SP 3
    Software version: 1.4.12051.0
    Connection type (WAN): DHCP

  • Apple TV Dead After Power Surge

I believe we had a power surge over the weekend since there were some major storms.  We were not here, but we know the power went off because we had to reset our clocks.  When we tried to use our Apple TV, it would not come on.  The LED would not light and we saw nothing on the TV screen.  The Apple TV was plugged into a surge protector.
We have tried resetting the power, and we have tried connecting it to iTunes, but it does not show up.  Does anyone know what we can do to fix it?
    Thanks! Cody

Did you follow the steps exactly, when trying to restore? Disconnect all cables, connect micro usb, if using a 3rd gen reconnect power.

Make sure to connect directly to computer, not a keyboard port or USB hub. Try a different cable.

  • P1102W Laserjet is dead after it is power off then power up

    A. 1st question : P1102W is dead after power off then back on.  Below are the steps of what I did :
    A1. I bought P1102W on 26Dec2011.  Most updated driver (Win7 32-bit) was then downloaded
A2. I started the installation by clicking the downloaded driver
A3. It installed smoothly, even picked up my Asus wireless router SSID automatically
A4. Eventually, a demo page was printed wirelessly from my notebook PC
A5. Subsequently, printings are also done by iPad2 and iPod Touch, confirming that AirPrint is working
A6. The P1102W is then turned off for 1/2 mins, then turned back on
A7. Both iPad2 and iPod Touch could not find any AirPrint Printer right away
A8. I tried to print a WORD file, but it does not work anymore
    B. 2nd question : IP address changed after 2nd notebook had installed the driver :
B1.  Once the previous steps from section A is done, I immedately tried to do the same installation for my 2nd notebook (Win Vista 32-bit.  I also tired with others notebook with Win7 64-bit or MacBook Air).
B2.  Once the installation is done and the demo page is printed.  I found that the IPaddr of the originally setting has been changed from 192.168.1.4 to 169.254.154.2, or sometimes (after 2nd trails) it becomes all zeros!!!!!!!!!!!!
B3.  I did manually assign the IPaddr to be a fixed IPaddr without using DHCP, but it still does not work.
Anyone can help.  Or I should tell my friends stop getting P1102W just for the purpose to get AirPrint for our iPhone/iPad2/IPod Touch??!!

I just bought the printer and I am having the same issue. Please help.

  • Problems after a "back out"

    Dears:
I'm experiencing problems with my router WRT54G Version1.1/ The problem began after a power black out.
I have checked the ISP connection already (connecting directly one of my computers to the modem), it is working fine, communication with the modem and internet browsing all normal.
I have observed also that the router is gathering the IP which our ISP send or assign. It means the router gathers it without problem therefore WAN handshaking is established.
Router LAN side is working properly, all computers connected to LAN side work fine. IP’s, etc. also are ok.
Router bridging between LAN and WAN (probably NAT function) does not work at all. Any computer from the LAN side can’t go out to internet even though using factory default settings.
Many configurations were tested, including upgrading the firmware to latest version but problem still remain.
Have you have this issue before?
Our problem happened after a black out. Before taking the decision to buy a new router due a hardware problem I would like to hear from some of you if it could be related with the router software, flash memory, etc, if so, how to address it?.
    Waiting for your reply
    Best regard

    Thanks my friend:
Let me tell you that I've solved the problem.  I downgraded the firmware to my last working version which was 4.30.5 and all come to normality.
Believe it or not, the last version 4.21.1 did not work in my router.  I was trying to do a tracking of the firmware versions and I found a discrepancy between the last two for this model.
Fortunatelly I had the previous one otherwise I wouldn't be able to restore the fucntionality of my router.
According to the information tracked in my backups was 4.20.7 after that, version 4.30.2 & 4.30.5 were issued. (May,2006)  That was the last time I upgraded the firmware.
Actual version posted in linksys web site is 4.21.1 (the latest firmware) despite it contains the fixes described in versions 4.30.2 & 4.30.5 plus solving access restriction problem does not work in my router.  After many tries, I gave up and left loaded the version 4.30.5
Now everything is working as usual but still with the access restriction issue.
I guess I'll leave it as it is.
Hopefully this info can also help others.
    Regards,

  • IOS 7.0.2 freezes, blacks out and becomes unresponsive on my iPhone 5. I have to use the home and power key reset function to recover it. Is there a fix?

I have had noting but trouble from the latest update. My phone has already froze and blacked out 8 times in the last day or two.

I restarted my phone as suggested and it is still happening.
My phone just blacks out at its own will as if the battery went dead then the apple logo appears and it restarts on it's own but my battery was still at 30% when it restarted. So that made no sense. When I try to type in my password it freezes up before I can get all of the characters in. I still hear the clicks of my tapping on the keyboard but nothing is changing on the screen. When I hit the enter button on accident it vibrated to tell me my password was incorrect but still the screen was frozen with my previous entry of the first 5 characters on the screen.
I am becoming concerned that I may have a very expensive paperweight now.
My husband has the same phone and his is working fine after the initial reboot.

  • My Mac Pro starts up when I turn on the power, BEFORE I switch it on with the button, why? Plus, my computer keeps freezing and blacking out.

My Mac Pro starts up when I turn on the power supply (when I plug it to the outlet), BEFORE I switch on the button on the computer, why is this happening? Plus, my computer keeps freezing and blacking out and I'm forced to restart it, that's when the compter starts on its own when I turn on the power.

    Hello Engender,
I should have followed up with a progress report because I eventually eliminated all the problems I was having with my Mac Pro, now it's behaving like a new computer… beautifully.   I did originally take Grant's advice above, changing the setting that I had in the System Preferences > Energy Saver but that only stopped from rebooting on its own when I shut down my Mac properly.  Otherwise it continued to restart on its own after freezing or crushing when I switched on the power.  I took my machine to the Apple Store and after many tests they couldn't find anything wrong with it.  I was very depressed about the whole business.
It was after going onto many of the other Apple related websites that I discovered that it wasn't a faulty power switch or fan, as as I originally thought, but found out that my problem was related to the Graphic Card and possibly I did not have enough ram (I had the original amount of 2 GB).  The original card that came with the computer: 512 MB ATI Radeon X1900 XT was over heating and forcing my machine to shut down, I think it was because I had upgraded to OSX Lion which on its own requires at least 2 GB of ram to operate well.  I added 4 GB of Ram to the 2GB I had (4GB kit (2GBx2), Apple 240-pin FBDIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300 upgrades for Apple Mac Pro (4-core) 1st Gen. - 2006-2007 Desktop/PC, CT579443 from Crucial.com about $160 for the set) and replaced the Graphic Card with ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB from Apple (around $260), (ATI Radeon HD 5770 Graphics Upgrade Kit for Mac Pro (Mid 2010) - Apple Store (U.S.))  This card works very well with my original Mac Pro 2008.  I installed it about two weeks ago and no problem with it starting on its own, over heating or freezing.  OSX Lion works well and I'm thinking of upgrading to Mountain Lion once I learn that my Mac Pro 1.1  will work with the new hardware I installed.
Your problem could just be the power cord but I agree with you that doesn't sound right, when I mentioned faulty switch I meant the part where the power cord meets the power button, the unit which houses the power distribution, I thought at first that it could be faulty but changed my mind because of the computer overheating.
I don't know if this is of any help to you but I hope your trouble will be solved with the new cord.

  • 27 inch thunderbolt display blacks out after Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.2

Bought 2 new 27 inch TB displays for two different machines and after a couple of days the Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.2 appears on my Mac Pro with one of the displays installed. So I install the firmware update.  Now my display blacks out periodically and I keep getting Graphic Display Errors with a request to sent the errors to Apple. Running a 32 GB Mac Pro (late 2013 circular style) I have three monitors connected (two 20 inch cinema displays and the new 27 inch display). This machine is supposed to be able to handle three 4k monitors or 6 standard TB displays.  I've seen the posts about the blacking out with this monitor but I didn't have any problems before the firmware update and now I've got them pretty regularly.  I had the blacking out problem on an earlier monitor and took one of the monitors back and Apple gave me another one and this is the replacement.  Same problem, but this one only started after the update. I'm hoping someone from Apple reads these messages and can let me know what's up.
BTW, I also have an older 27 inch Apple monitor that ran perfectly on this machine so I'm disappointed that I spent all this money and now get the blacking out issue.
    Mac Pro (Late 2013)
    Processor 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5
    Memory 32 BG
Graphics AMD FirePro D300 2048 MB

I have my Thunderbolt display connected to my MacBook Pro and have been experiencing the same issue, getting worse over time.  The folks at my local Apple store did not know what to do about it.  So, I looked around and tried different thing.
The one thing that seems to be working is to System Preferences > Build-in Display > uncheck “Automatically adjust brightness.”
    I hope this helps.

  • Screen blacks out after a few seconds and won't return to normal state.

I have the 30 gig ipod photo that i got about a year and a half ago. Whenever I look at the screen to access music or anything, the screen blacks out like there's a screensaver or something and won't return back to normal. Even after I reset it, it stays normal for a few seconds and then blacks out again. The backlighting still works so it's just a bright black screen and I have function of the click wheel because it clicks everytime I move up or down. I already tried restoring it so I am all out of options. Anyone PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks
    Steve

This happens rarely but consistently! I't seems to happen about 5% of the time waking from sleep. It MAY be more prone to happen if I had been moving with it in my bag, but it can happen at any waking time after any duration of sleep.
