Dead insects in my laptop's display.

It has been a month since I bought my HP Laptop 15 r-022tx. Now, there's an insect inside my screen lying there dead since yesterdat night (25-8-2014) and it is  worrying me now.
I tried contacting the support, but they say this isn't covered in the warranty. First time, he just cut the call abruptly. The second time, I got a denial of service under warranty since it wasn't a "hardware failure".
I am really upset with the reply I got from them.
I had confidence on HP products and after a lot of research have bought this product and now I am starting to feel there's a lot that has to be done in quality service from company's end.
I seriously doubt if there won't be any more surprises from insects inside the screen.
I hope a replacement of product will help, because I am starting to feel this laptop might have some manufacturing problem. Please guide me through if I can really get this insect removed and hope some more don't come back or shall I go for product replacement and how should I do that? .

  • Dead insect behind glass on iMac

I have a 27 iMac (late 2012) that has what looks like a dead insect behind the glass (Excel is shown behind the bug).
I have no idea how it got there and it wasn't there a week ago.
I was under the impression that nothing could get in there based on this quote from Apple's iMac website:
The LCD itself is 5 mm thinner than before, and we used an advanced process called full lamination to eliminate a 2-mm gap between the LCD and the glass, something that has never been done on a display this large.
I'm still under warranty and under AppleCare.
Any idea on how to rid myself of this bug?  Or keep this from happening again?

If you have AppleCare, definitely call them and have them debug it.

When i disconnect my iPod 2nd Gen from my laptop, its display goes off and working freezes. Please help me.

The computer freezes?  There may be something wrong with the USB port.  If the laptop has more than one port, does this happen on any port?  If you are disconnecting the shuffle cable from the computer, does it make any difference if you disconnect the shuffle at the other end of the cable first, then disconnect the cable from computer?  Or if you currently disconnect the shuffle from cable first, try it the other way.
You may be able to work around this problem, if you get a self-powered USB hub.  Something like this one
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/USB2HB7PRO/
There are many choices, but be sure to get one that has its own power supply.  You can leave the shuffle cable connected to the hub, and connect the shuffle to the hub, instead of directly to the computer.  This may provide a "buffer" for whatever is causing your laptop to shut off when the shuffle is disconnected.  Since the hub has its own power supply, it will not rely on the computer for power to re-charge the battery.

Go to System Preferences>Displays and set the resolution to "Best for this computer" (or something to that effect).

  • Dead pixels on Macbook Pro Retina Display and keyboard scratches.

Since the purchase of my Macbook Pro with Retina Displey 15" early February 2013 it has gained 5 dead pixels on the screen. If I take it to the Apple Store are they going to tell me it's my own fault and not help?
I also found a scratch on the <H> key on the keyboard, which has removed a little bit of the black coating, allowing the backlight to shine through. Does anyone know of a solution to this, or if apple are able to help? I have already tried writing over it in black sharpie pen, but it doesn't help.

Apple has some system they go by to determine how many dead pixels are 'acceptable' on a display - it's not your fault.
You may be able to get a replacement key from -> https://www.replacementlaptopkeys.com/. Since Apple will probably say it was caused by user damage, you'll have to pony up the $5 for the key.

  • External monitor works only works when laptop screen displays

Hi there, I just connected a different (newer, but not brand new) external monitor to my T61.  When I toggle screens (fn-f7) the external display gets no signal in the 'external display only' position, but displays beautifully in the 'both' position.  This never happened with my old monitor.  I would like to use the external display and not have the laptop screen display.  Any ideas? Many thanks, Ellen

    Try this:
After connecting external monitor, press win key+p and thrn choose projector only.

  • My laptop screen displays on reverse direction

    HP Pavilion DV6-2121er
    OS: Windows 7 Home Basic
My laptop screen displays texts and symbols on reverse direction. For example, on the desktop "My computer"  - as "retupmoc yM".
I did reinstall my OS, but it didn't help me.
What problem may be? Please, help me!

I have the same problem.  A more accurate description would be that the display is mirrored...
If I view the reflection of my display in a mirror everything appears normal.
If I view my display directly everything is reversed horizontally pixel by pixel (i.e.. mirrored).
At no point during the boot process is the display correct.  As soon as the BIOS posts the screen is messed up so this issue has nothing to do with the display driver as it's not even loaded yet.
My problem is actually slightly worse.  My display is mirrored and then shifted to the right half a screen length with pixels beyond the right edge of the screen getting wrapped around to the left side of the screen.  You can get a sense of the problem by doing or imagining the following scenerio:
    1) Take a screen shot of your desktop.
    2) Open the screen shot in photoshop and mirror it (not the same as rotating or flipping)
    3) Print the screen shot and tape the left edge of the paper to the right edge forming a tube
    4) Make the tube flat again by cutting it down what used to be the middle of the image.

  • ARD on my laptop not displaying both monitors on my desktop

I'm running ARD 3.2 on both my Macbook Pro laptop, and Macpro desktop. Both are running the latest version of Leopard. My desktop has dual monitors, and it seems before I upgraded to Leopard, ARD on my laptop would display BOTH of my desktop monitors (scaled down, of course). However recently, it stared to only display the desktop's primary monitor, and not even detect or display the second. I've been pulling my hair out trying to find a relevant setting, and searching the forums for someone with this issue. Does anyone know what's going on? Please let me know. Thanks in advance!

For opening your domain file in Lion  or to switch between multiple domain files  Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
Just launch the applicaiton, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1

  • B570 Laptop - No display, POST or LED

    Hi,
I have a 1 year old B570 laptop which will not boot. It will not show a display, power on, POST boot and the LEDs do not light up.
The problem has been on-going for a while and the laptop would occassionally refuse to boot. You would have to remove the battery and then it would start up. When this happened the laptop would appear to power on but it would not POST or display anything, However, the unit now seems to be dead.
I have tried removing the battery, charging the laptop and holding the power button in for ten seconds, but I still cannot find any sign of life. This leads me to think that it may be an issue with the motherboard?
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks,
    Martin.

  • Dead pixels appeared on my retina display. Can it be repaired?

My MacBook Pro Retina is a little over 10 months old, and recently, two areas of dead pixels have shown up on the screen.  I have no idea what made them appear, as I baby this machine much more than my prior original MacBook Pro (7 mostly problem-free years!).  The one spot is a bright white when the screen is black, and the other is a smaller gray dot.
I've tried to keep this machine as like-new as I can, and it doesn't go a day without getting a wipe-down from a micro-fiber cloth.  I keep it in an external shell, and it is never touched by by my kids.  Still, I somehow got these two areas of the screen that do not turn black.
Is it possible to have the display repaired, or is this something I'm just stuck with?  I always get AppleCare with my laptops (out of paranoid fear), but I can't tell if something like this is covered.

I don't believe there is a minimum # of dead pixels, but mende1 knows better than I.
Before I got my first Mac and while I was looking for more information about Macs, some websites published an Apple's "secret" document about dead pixels, and that's what it said (Apple did not replace displays with a "small" number of dead pixels even if it was in warranty, and some users have had this experience).
As I told you, this may not be true and the display gets replaced, and also we do not know if that applies to the MacBook Pro with Retina display, but if the Mac has got Apple Care the display should be replaced

  • Trying to do the Laptop to Laptop dual display!

I just got a MacbookPro 17inch, and I also have my old PowerBookG4 17inch, I'm trying to use my old (now crappy) G4 as a dual monitor. I just spent a good wad of cash on a some cords. For the MacbookPro I got a mini display port (male) to a .DVI (female), and for the G4 I got a DVI (male) to DVI (male). This successfully hooked up the two!!!
I went to my macbookpro and hit "detect displays", and nothing happens.
Ofcourse when I hook either up to a projector or a PC monitor, I can use them as displays, but I cant get these two mac laptops to work together!!!
Do I need to start my old G4 in target disk mode or something? I'm unaware of the solution...
Someone please help me gain new knowledge!!!

can I revert back to a useable laptop?
Yes. All solutions of this type run through the OS on the second computer. FireWire Target Disk mode just displays a floating FireWire logo on the other display and therefore can't be used for this purpose.

  • IPhoe4 appears dead after plugging into laptop

After I plugged my iPhone4 to my laptop (XP), it did not start charging. The screen looks dead and I cannot power on/off. However when I call my number from another line, it rings! I have been using my iPhone to charge from laptop, wall socket for 3 months now.
Before I plugged into the laptop, the charge on the ipHone was showing at 49% - so there is some bit of battery still left in there.

First plug your mini on an USB-Power adapter NO PC!!
Than normally it will start, load the mini's battery for a while.
Than instal the latest version of itunes on your pc.
Open itunes than plug your mini in...
And it normally shows up.. Restore and done!
When it doesn't work the mini has a wrong format! That happens when you restored it on a mac!!!
Maybe you've done that. Than plug it into a mac open Disc-Utility than change the format to FAT.
Than again in your windows and will it work...
Ask again when it won't or you does'nt understand

  • No Warranty for LCD Pixel dead for a new Laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-EZ1523

    Hey,
I bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-EZ1523 Laptop in Oct 2009. In January 2010 My motherboard went dead so I have sent the laptop to the Toshiba Depot Center initially they said they will repair it and send it within 3 - 5 Business day but they took nearly 15 days to ship it back.
Once I have received there is the big surprise. One of the pixel on my screen is dead and I tired calling the Toshiba customer care at 1-800-457-7777 and the transfer the call to Depot center which takes nearly 40 to 50 mins to get an engineer on the call for which we need so much of patients.
Today I requested to transfer the call to the Case Manager and when I told her about the problem she again tells me to call the depot and file a case with them and the UPS for the damage and she also mentioned that there is no warranty covered for the LCD Screen.
But when I shipped the laptop to the Toshiba Depot I don't had any dead pixels. Im tired calling Toshiba can anyone help me out.
    Regards,
    Prem.

I got problem with my Toshiba tecra A9 laptop. There is thick black line at the corner of LCD, I contacted 2 toshiba service centers but they paased me to the Toshiba support. They said that Toshiba will not pay us for LCD repair and asked me to call toshiba support and ask for their autorisation. I also called toshiba support several times, but they just make me confused. They said randomly some bizzare phrases: the service centers should aks us for autorisation no., LCD did not coverd by warranty, You made a physical damage, contact another service center, we will contact you within this business day...
The reason I have bought Tecra model was that toshiba called it as bussiness class, and offered a 3 years limited warranty!!! But the warranty is a whole fake to cheat with the clients. They even do not care about business and dont understand how our professional life is depends to our laptop. such a shame for them.
They pay some employees to talk with you several hours, just to deny their warranty and don't give you a good service!
I wonder how they calculate the repaire cost of LCD. I already find wensite which offer the LCD just for 95$. There are lots of replacement guide all over internet. I will suggest toshiba that I can service them for LCD replacement for as low as 150$. That would be a good business for me and a big deal for toshiba! At least Toshiba will not loose their clients.
From my side, I will start to aware all student around me at university to never trust Toshiba quality and warranty services and do not risk their professional life with the toshiba product and services! It seems that Dell is going to be the leader in customer services and hence in future market!

  • Compressor HD 1920x1080 settings for an average PC laptop as display

    Hi all,
i need to compress an 18 minute Prores422 HD sequence to be displayed on a HD-LCD screen connected to a PC laptop. i have used the H264 settings of compressor and limited the Data Rate to 16200 with stuttery results. i think this newer HP laptop is not powerful enough for decoding H264. What is the best compression recipe for getting HD quality without too much precessing demand from video card and the chip ?

    Hi
    *HD to DVD*
No version of iDVD (Yet) can do HD.
    alt. is to use
    1
    • Roxio Toast™ 10-Pro incl. Blu-Ray component
    • Blu-Ray burner and disk
    • alt. Toast™ can burn full Quality to DVD but then just 20 minutes maximum in Blu-Ray standard
STILL - This the need a Blu-Ray Player to be viewed.
(May be a PlayStation3™ - not all Blu-Ray players play them)
    2
Playback via Mac to screen. Should give a full quality Playback ? ? ?
    3
DVD Studio Pro - in FinalCut Studio bundle - should be able to do HD
but can only be played on a few Toshiba DVD-players and a few Macs (not all of them).
    4
Take out movie on USB-memory - Put into PlayStation3™ ==> Very good quality (it’s said)

  • Transfering Files from Dead MBP to Pc-laptop

Currently old 2007 macbook pro died due to the black screen of death.
Aka the faulty Nivdia shielding that leads to logic board damage that permanently fries your logic board.
Unfortunately because this didn't really happen until 4 years after I bought the computer I was not eligible for the free service that replaces my logic board.
So right now I'm left with a dead MBP.
Currently I have been told that it is possible to transfer filed between my MBP and another laptop through holding T and using a firewire.
However my new laptop doesn't happen to have a firewire port.
So are there any other alternatives to a firewire that I can use?  Either a usb to usb or an ethernet cable?
How do I go about doing this?

Yes, any USB for a 2.5 inch drive.
This is what I currenlty own.
It's a Vantec USB2 external SATA enclosure which I use for cloning hard drives.
It's pretty cheap and does the job well.
    More info here.
For what you'll be using it for, it should be good enough.  No need for a fancy one when this one will do the same job.
    good luck.
