Dead Links: Acrobat 9.4.4 from docx

I created a pdf from a docx. The hyperlinks don't work.
The file is 8.51mb.
Any suggestions?

Thanks to both of you, Bill and Try. It worked. I was not aware that I had failed that process before but apparently I did because this time it worked.
I opened the docx in Word 2007. Clicked on Acrobat in the tool bar. I thought it opened in Adobe Acrobat 9.0 because when I clicked on "Create PDF" I was given a choice of creating in Word 2007 PDFor Acrobat PDF or something similar. There were two choices in what I thought was an Acrobat tool bar.
I have gone back to try to replicate the process and I am not given those choices. It appears that Acrobat is not opening but it is an Acrobat toolbar in Word.
No matter. It worked. I don't care how it works as long as it works by making the links live. Next time I'll open Acrobat 9.0 then select this file and see if the results is different.
THANK YOU.

  • Favorites loaded from PC were fine, now dead links?

Hello, I am a fairly new Mac user and I have a problem.
All my Favorites that I transferred over from my PC were immediately changed to Safari Bookmarks when they were loaded onto my Mac several months ago. But, some time recently they have all become dead links with plain white folder icons instead of the Safari icon, and obviously they don't work. I don't know if this happened with a recent update to Safari, but if so, why? and what can I do to get them converted back to Safari Bookmarks? I have a very long list that I don't want to lose.
Thanks for any help you can provide!

If you are running TM, you can retrieve the original ones from there.
    The folder is here:
    ~/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari/Bookmarks
where ~ is your home directory.

  • Exporting list of missing or dead links from iTunes

If you have more than 500 songs in iTunes, sooner or later, you will end up with missing, broken or dead links.
Unlike some who address this issue, I genuinely have missing songs, so wish to export a list so I can then re-import them.
Itunes dupes barrier will create a list of “dead” tracks, but I cannot export it.
I don’t want to remove the broken links until I have decided if I still want the songs or not.
    Any ideas?

Nearly 10,000 tracks in my iTunes library and I have NEVER had that issue. Perhaps your statement should be something like, if you start messing around with your folders and files and moving them around, renaming them, etc. outside of iTunes without knowing what you are doing, then you will end up with dead links and missing files. That would probably be more accurate.

"Itunes dupes barrier" ??? I assume you mean the Show Duplicates function? If so, then when you get that list, all you have to do is a Select All then open your favorite spreadsheet and paste the list in. Everything will line up in nice columns and rows. You can paste into a word processor or text edited as well, but it may be a bit jumbled in the formatting.

  • How to delete dead links

    Hello
I would like to delete dead links in a PDF document. I use Visual C++ to create my code and generate an API plug-in for Acrobat 8. Can you give me a sample code to do it.
    Thanks
    David

You are going to need to examine the Cos object for each link and see
whether it meets your requirements of "dead" (which you've really just
moved to "invalid destination" - when is a destination invalid?)
The PDF Reference describes the types of PDF actions. There are more
than you think, and some (JavaScript) virtually defy analysis. In
broad terms the plug-in would call PDDocGetPage / PDPageRelease for
each page in turn, then iterate through the Annots objects. There is a
PDAnnot API, but going to the Cos API is likely to be needed in the
    end.
Be sure to use an error handler so you never miss PDPageRelease, even
if there is an error in the PDF: this is very important.

  • Need manual updates for 9.2 and 9.55 to do clean reinstall of acrobat 9.0 pro from cd

I just did a new nstallation of acrobat V9.0 professional from CD:
I need a link to the master incremental update for 9.2 and the master 9.55 incremental update that goes from V9.2 to V9.55
I am looking for a master baseline release.
My reinstall is on an old XPSP3 machine. When acrobat professional 9.0 goes away I will still need the incremental update from V9.0 to V9.55
I do not need to put acrobat X or acrobat XI on this machine. A new acrobat X or acrobat XI license is for a new machine.
I keep all my master and incremental updates in archival. That way i can rebuild my machine.
This is the way it is normally done.
the autoinstaller jumped me from V9.0 on CD to V9.2 and from V9.2 to V9.55.
I dont' see master releases in the table that do the same thing.
    there were only 2 updates.
normally support would just send me a link out-of-band. i understand I need to send the request thru the forum
    many thanks!

Most of the manual updates are not cummulative. It sounds like you did the updates from the help menu (and many of those are cummulative -- don't know why they are not available). You may be able to find the updates you used on your harddrive -- I have seen them before, but don't remember where, probably the users folder or such.

    Hi hgratz,
Considering 'invalid serial number' error for Acrobat 9, I would suggest you to please refer the KB doc link mentioned below:
    Error "Invalid serial number" | Acrobat 9 | CS4
Let me know if that helps.

  • Can't create pdf from.docx

I'm on a late 2011 macbook air, running lion, office for mac 2001 and acrobat X pro.  In acrobat, when I go to file, create pdf and navigate to a word doc, acrobat will not creat the pdf.  I get an error message that reads "acrobat could not open test.docx because it is not a supported file type."  Create pdf works with other file types.  What's the skinny?  Thanks.

Your going about it all wrong (If your using Mac). there are three options option to is much better. because of security method put in by Apple in OSX.5 and newer, there no longer is a PDFMaker feature.
    Options:
within Word  go to SaveAs... choose PDF.
Go to Print menu click on PDF and save as PDF to desired location
Go to Print Menu, click and hold the PDF button choose Adobe PDF. A menu pops up clicking on quality and choosing a setting is equivelent to Job Options in Distiller. Once quality is set choose wther to have Reader open or nothing open. Click okay next screen choose a name if you don't like the name already in the name box. Then choose a place to save. Then choose Okay.
Method 3 is far and away the best method. Makes the best and the smallest PDF's.  Making PDF's in Mac is Completely different in PC since OSX.5  and newer. OSX4.11 and lower they are almost identical.
I remember answering this very question yesterday. May have been from another OP (Original Poster).

  • Dead links....can't remove them?!?

I created a site a few months ago with iweb. I then published it. A few months went by and I decided it was time to update it. I removed a couple of old movies using iweb. I then republished the site.
I just went to visit it (a few weeks later) and those links are still at the top of the page (although they go to the "We're sorry but we can't find the iweb page.......")
These links are NOT in the iweb site I have created... So why are they on the published site?
How can I get ride of these "dead" links on the published site??? Thanks..

    Open your iDisk
    Open the 'Web' folder
    Open the 'Sites' folder
    Open the 'iWeb' folder
Open the folder with the name of the site that is having problems
You should now have a list of folders and files, many of which will have names matching the names of pages in your site.Look for any files ending in '.html' (apart from 'index.html') that have names of pages that you deleted and delete them.
When you update your site with a new page, or by deleting a page in iWeb, the navbar should hopefully be fixed. If it's not, then there's something strange going on! If you still have problems, post the address of your site.
You might want to empty the cache in your browser before you check, to make sure that you're actually looking at the most recent page. To be extra sure, I'd empty the cache, quit, reload, open the site, then reload the site to make absolutely certain that the most recent update is being viewed.

  • Dead links when using Safari.

I first noticed dead links when trying to read "the Week in iOS Apps," on Macworld. I could go to the second view, but never past the second view. I solved the problem by switching to Firefox. the same thing happened on the Verizon wireless site when I tried to pay my bill.
Should i make Firefox my primary browser? I have a habit of using Safari. Dead links shouldn't be a problem.

You can try this. May help.
    Reset Safari.
Click Safari in the menu bar.
From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
Uncheck the boxes beside  all items.
Just check the box beside “Remove all website data”.
    Click "Reset".
    Empty Caches
    Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
Turn off Extensions if any, and launch Safari.
    Safari > Preferences > Extensions

  • When firefox starts, any previously saved tab loads...with dead links. I can't make a tab die and stay dead! It resurrects on firefox startup, like a ZOMBIE.

I made tabs long ago thinking that it would be easy to change them. Over time some of those links perished. But firefox won't allow me to kill a tab. Sure, I can close it as it is loading, but I have to do that every time at firefox startup.
I want to be able to add AND SUBTRACT tabs, AND MAKE THAT CHANGE STAY. But every time when firefox starts it tries to load tabs that have those dead links. I don't need school closing information from 2 years ago!!!!
That's what I get for treating tabs like bookmarks. Anyway, can you help me kill the zombies?

    A few helpful hints:
    1) Don't bump your post. Everyone here is a volunteer and if your answer is slow in coming it might mean the right person hasn't yet read the post, no one can figure it out, or the question is so vaguely stated no one knows what the problem is. I suspect the last possibility is the case here, which leads to
    2) State your problem first, not what you did. When we know what the problem is then we can take in all the details. Speaking of details, if you don't know which details are important and which aren't, leave them out. We'll ask for the details we need.
If Snow Leopard can be installed on your computer you must have an Intel based Mac and having an Intel Mac means USB will boot your computer.
I suspect that your problem is software too but we won't know without a fresh install and I recommend that your erase the drive and start fresh. Install Snow Leopard, install your applications, then transfer your data. Since your problem, or at least part of it, appears to involve your personal account I'd recommend that you not transfer it via Migration Assistant. Kappy has written an excellent guide about how to manually transfer data. It was specifically written for migrating from a PPC to an Intel computer but the same idea applies here so the instructions are 100% valid. You'll find it here.

  • Finding dead links

    Hi.
I've got a bit of a snafu with regards to my music library.  I was using itunes to move my library to an external hard drive.  During said process, the hard drive crashed a few times which threw itunes into a tailspin and it crashed and thus crashed my computer.  Needless to say problems arose.  I was able to sort out most of the problems manually and with some scripts found.
I had about 1500 or so dead links.  I used FindTracks to sift through all the dead links.  The script found about half of them.  It didn't give an error it just said files weren't updated and are still missing.  The files are indeed in the proper location, it's just the name is wrong.  Itunes added a 1 or 2 to the end of each file.  FindTracks does not work when trying to fix these files.  Am I using the script properly or am I missing something.  Any help would be appreciated.
My itunes library file is located in ' z:\itunes ' and my music is in a subfolder ' music '.  Drive is a NAS.
Below is an example of what the script says about the file that is there but not there.

  • Utility to find & remove dead links?

    Hello.
I'm looking for a (preferably free) utility to find & remove dead links from my bookmarks. It'd be great it if could clean up my Firefox links as well.
Anyone know where to get such a tool?
    Cheers,
    ALF

You're welcome Anthony. I'll post back if I come across something. As I posted, if Bookmarks are the same for your browsers, it's just as easy to clean up a set in Safari, then export the new file to the other browsers. Also, good to make a duplicate copy of the Bookmarks.plist file in your Safari Folder (User Library) before running Prariefire. Just in case of a problem.
Please mark this thread answered. Also, you have the option of "awarding" up to two "helpful" designations - (to the far right of a person's screen name) to anyone who has helped you with information.
In instances where your question was satisfactory answered, one "solved" designation is also available.
Preferred placement for either is next to the post solving or helping you resolve your issue. Makes for easier tracking for those looking for the solution. It also adds to a person's Level Status, which in itself is helpful for others knowing a person's skill level and their ability to assist others with computer questions.
