Dead Mic Jack?? (Others can answer too.. Haahahahaa.

I am trying out my new NX, and I have been having a lot of fun with it. Some problems during installation, but otherwise OK. DVD-Audio Works, I actually have it installed on two different computers. Both work well, although after installing the CD, It seems that Service Pack 2 of XP Needs to be FORCED to use the proper (Uncertified) driver manually, otherwise nothing works. Downloading the newest driver from the site after going through the install might just work the whole thing out.
Emberassingly enough - I got a kick out of playing with the Keraoke feature in the EAX Panel. So I grabbed a MIC to try it out. Nothing. No sound from it at all.
First things first. My first sound blaster was a '6', and I have worked through all of the li'ves, and audigys. I used to be in a band, and I used them a lot for recording sessions in various ways. I KNOW how the things work. The only things new to me here are the Mic 'Dial' - What is that? It doesn't help here... And the lack of a few more advanced features. (And the shared control for Mic and Line-In...)
Ok - Line In works. WELL. I recorded some DVD audio from my other audigy2 for fun at 24/96 and it turned out amazing. Thus far, I have tried all the ports BUT the digital ones, and the Sub/Center one. ALL FINE. The software is set up FINE on both machines, in fact, on the one already housing an audigy 2, I just installed the driver, and Enough of Playcenter to get the remote working. Everything else took right off without modification. The two 'cards' work well in harmony.
The short version is, I have tried two computers, which BOTH work with Line-In, and a total of... 4 Mics. Two headsets, one clip mic, and a high end PZM made by Crown.
IS there a setting somewhere, perhaps having to do with the switching from line to mic? Or something to do with the 'Dial' that I haven't figured out yet?
If not.. We're talking a bad unit, and I had to special order it into my dealer. Dang..

I guess what I should really be asking is - for those who have used a mic succesfully, is it just a matter of plugging it in , and BAM, it works?, like the Line in? What does the MIC Dial do?

LMic Jack not working after Driver Update, Console unavailable, can't install? I've had nothing but problems after downloading the latest updates via the auto-updater.
I'm currently using the Creative SB X-Fi Pro Series card. I've had it for close to 6 months and have not had any issues until I ran the auto-updater last night, and while it downloaded over 250Mb of updates, all of them failed to install as described below.
I'm running on Windows Vista Ultimate, 64-bit
My main issue is the fact that my microphone is no longer working. I've done a lot of searching and I think the problem has to do with flexijack not being a microphone jack, but instead is an 'in-line' jack. I can no longer find my audio control console, which allows me to switch between gaming and entertainment modes, ect. The solution I found on the KB says that you can switch the blue jack on the back of the card from an in-line jack to a mic jack within the Audio console. I tried downloading it, but while going through the install, I get an error saying the files could not be found and a prompt which asks for a disk or file location. The same thing pretty much happens with all of the items I attempted to download and install.
I was able to run console fine, as well as use my mic yesterday before I attempted any updates. I attempted the updates because since I've had the card, I've had issues where after I exit a game, all my sound will become crackly and static. Before, I would simply open up the console and switch back-and-forth from gaming to entertainment, which would fix the problem most of the time. If that didn't work, a restart would fix it, but now I've opened up a whole new set of issues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I also want to say that the support tickets should not require a serial number to submit a new ticket. My product is registered, so I got rid of the box which contains all that information, leaving me at the mercy of these boards...

Hello all. Fisrt of all, this are my specs: Yoga 2 pro 13". WiFi card: Intel(R)Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260. I bought it from Best Buy on November 27, 2014. If you aquired your Yoga before this date, you may have the single band WiFi card. As many of you have experienced, I also had a bunch of issues with my WiFi connectivity and this is how I was able to solve it. At least it has been a couple of days that I haven't had any issues. The first symptom was the usual connection drops every X amount of time. For me it was about every 2 hours. I first unchecked the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option in the Power Management tab of device manager and disabled U-APSD support in the Advanced tab of device manager. This action did not solve the problem. I then downloaded and updated the driver from the Intel web site (http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect) and this seemed to solve the drops; however, a new problem arised: Everytime my Yoga would wake up from sleeping mode, all my wifi networks were gone and the adapter showed as disabled in Device Manager. I would have to anable it to have my networks back. It was a solution but a pain the butt to have to do this everytime. After hours of reading post after post in several forums, I read a repy from Lenovo asking to try leaving the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" CHECKED if you were using the latest version of the driver. I went back to device manager and checked it back and that seems to have solved the problem. So far I haven't had any drops and everytime my laptop comes back from sleeping mode the WFi connection is still there! Here is a recap of how everything ended up: -The driver version I installed is 17.1.0.19-The driver date is 7/21/2014-In device manager|Advanced, U-APSD support is Disbled.-In device manager|Power Management, "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is checked. I have 2 iphoto libraries - when I opened iphoto today I can only see one (my old one) and I cannot find the other to "switch" too..

I had an old library on an old mac. I then started a new one on my new Mac and was able to easily switch between the two..
I opened iphoto today and I cannot find my old library which I'd added new photos too.
Hence all photos from the last year have disappeared...

Half of my new photos have disappeared from my new library AND my old library has disappeared.
I've tried to find the library using a couple of ideas on this forum but i still can't find them....

What happens when you try to export from the library? Where are you trying to export to? Are both libraries located in the same Place? If not where are they located. If on an external HD how is that HD formatted?
How much free space do you have on your HD(s)?

When I have a crash on Firefox, I would like to copy, paste, & save the window with my previously opened web tabs, but I can't do this. I'm frustrated, & I imagine others may be, too. Please change this if possible. Thanks!

I have encountered this problem repeatedly, not just on one or two occasions. The window that opens up and allows me to check on or off of reopening a "restore" session is completely "dead" to my mouse other than the check boxes.
Couldn't it be made so the user can copy and paste those choices as a record of his most recent activity, before "guessing" which tabs may be dsyfunctional for the restore?

You can make a backup copy of sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder]. You can't do a copy and paste in the about:sessionrestore window.

Apple isnt here. this is a user based forum for technical questions. The solution is to restart, reset, and restore as new which is in the manual after that get it replaced for hard ware failure. if your within your one year warranty its replaced if it is out of the warranty then it is 199$

Can i use any other branded headphone jack other than Apple jack ?

I do not really understand what you are saying, if you could, specify. The standard jack is 3.5 mm by the way, and it should be 3.5 mm on your iPhone. Any device bought from Apple, including third party devices (Meaning from other producers, eg. Sony, Bose, etc) should work fine. You are not limited to using included EarPods. If you mean that you wish to take apart the device and replace the headphone jack built into the iPhone, I strongly recommend you not to, as it will void the warranty, and has an extremely likely chance to damage your iPhone.

Headphone jack, speakers went dead, analog mic jack dead, HDMI sound ok

After about a year the device has lost all sound from internal speakers; the test meter in the 'Playback Devices' shows everything ok with the IDT Speakers, but the Headphone jack shows unplugged when headphones are indeed plugged in. 'Recording devices' shows Internal Microphone Array active and ok, Exernal Mic (IDT CODEC) shows unavailable, with an analog mik plugged into the jack.
Followed the procedures of uninstalling sound devices and drivers, removing batttery and holding power for 30 seconds; reloading device drivers specified in these forums, to no avail.
Did a data backup and reloaded Windows fresh from the factory image. Went in smooth. Still no sound or analog mike, or internal mikes for that matter.
I've got a client ready to lynch me because I convinced him to buy this thing.
Any ideas?

Can't get audio to record through mic jack

I have a 1/8" (3.5mm) stereo jack cable connected between the headphones jack of one computer and the mic jack of my MacBook Pro. I'm trying to import sound into Garage Band and I simply CANNOT figure out how to make this work. GarageBand only wants to import from the mic in the front of the my laptop.
I've tried all 3 input settings (mono-1 built in, mono-2 built in, stereo 1/2 built in) and none of them seem to work.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Can I delete one the 2 exact same files in Finder, without deleting the other one Automatically too?

I have backed up and have removed a User account. since then, I have 1 user account, but all files are duplicate. Instead of having 199GB on my disk, i now have about the double. Ifound some stuff to delete, but there are also apple apps that are double. Can i delete half of them, so that only one copie stays and not both delete?

no obviously not. it's not in the trash if you are worried copy the second copy and change the name to something else. then delete both and after deleting both rename the copy the same as the original.
