Dead muvo

I have a 52 Muvo tx that just quit playing and displayed "no music". I also have a 256 Muvo tx fm that I use as well. It has no problems so that should eliminate my computer, files, etc. as the problem. Once the 52 was plugged in and I had a look I saw that my music was still there and it would play through the computer. I deleted all the music and reformated. Although it was reformatted it would not load. No matter how many times I reformatted and the format seemed to take, but later I would check and it was not formatted. I am formatting in FAT. I went into the troubleshooting. The player will not reset and it will not go into recovery. I can't try reloading the firmware as it has to be in recovery to do so. I have only had it for a couple of months now but it was a refurb. I imagine I am just out of luck but this forum seems to be very knowledgeable so I am giving it a try. Thanks for any help.

hi, i got a muvo n200 a year and a half ago from my dad who li'ves out of town. i've had nothing but problems: with it from the start. i bought it at fuyture shop and of course my dad declined the extended warranty. anyway, iv'e tried downloading the newest drivers and firmware but there was never any real resolution to my problems. during one of the updates to my firmware the battery was accidently installed backwards into my n200. now the thing is just plain dead. when i hook it up to my computer it shows up as a removeable dri've and it still has songs on the player and i can play them from the pc but when i safely remove it and try to turn it on, NOTHING. any ideas before i trash it, and give up on creative products entirely?
    thanks, cangirl89

Try formatting the player, and perhaps updating the firmware (you do those while connected to the PC). Get a different battery aswell, an alkaline battery, perhaps a brand you've used before (like Duracell) to make sure there is no problem there.

  • Dead Muvo USB 2.0- Help Ple

    Hello All,
I have searched the forum and have not found a post with a similiar problem.
    MUVO 28 mb USB 2.0
    Latest Drivers
    Latest Firmware
The player will not turn on.
Multiple computers do not recognize player.
I have reinstalled drivers and firmware in the order specified and tried to reformat the player with no luck.
While attempting to reformat I receive the error:
    "Unable to Send SCSI Command.
SCSI Sense Code: device reported media error, allocation to large."
Running the firmware upgrade does turn on the Muvo's red light.
I have another MUVO TX USB 2.0 that both computers recognize.
    Help please.
    Thank You.

    Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, I have connected this device in recovery mode. The firmware recognizes the device in recovery mode, then searches for devices connected to the computer, that is when I recieve the error described above.

  • Dead muvo tx

Hi allI've had one of these players for about and a half ?years and just recently its died. I can still used the thumb dri've part of it, that works fine, but when I plug it into the battery capsule and try to turn it on, nothing happens. Any suggestions, has this happened to anyone else. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Your TX SE was probably at a later firmware version than the one you downloaded. Creative have not made the firmware that is on the TX SE (.3.xx) publicly available because they say it is only compatible with certain hardware versions.
Contact Creative Support and they should be able to send you the correct firmware.

  • Muvo TX FM dead pixel l

I purchased a Creative Muvo TX FM MP3 player, in early 2005. It's been a great product and I have been pleased with it up to this point. The warranty has expired and a line of dead pixels have developed on the screen. It is bearable, although annoying. For reference, I am an Australian customer.
I would like to know if this fault can be repaired; and by whom, as I doubt there is anything I could do to fix it. If so, please indicate how this can be done. Thanks.

If you contact Creative they may well be able to fix it, tho' as it's outside warranty you might have to pay.

  • Creative MuVO TX FM: Dead during/after firmware upd

Hi, I got my MuVO two months ago. I use it for both music and audibobooks from Audible.com. Lately it began to develop a problem: Most of the times after start-up it won't play anything. Instead it just display the file name. When Pause/Play is pressed, it skip a few seconds forward and stay there. Occasionally
Then, I tried to update the firmware on the creative site, but somehow during the update the player went completely dead, i.e. won't power up and can no longer be recognized as a dri've in computer.
Has anyone encountered a smiliar problem?
    Thanks

Do a search of the forums. Lots of users have experienced similar problems.

  • Muvo² 4GB dead (prob. HDD problems :(

My Muvo? 4GB MP3-player has stoped working properly.
I experienced some freezing of the player.
By cutting the power, and restart, the player would function again.
I decided to update the firmware to the newest one, to see if that would help.
One day later the player completly failed. If you start normal, the player gets frozen at the MuVo? display. Booting in recovery mode works, but al option will eventually cause the player to freeze (except reboot).
I guess it's something with the HDD, offcourse it did fall sometimes, but not just before it stopped working properly.
I've bought it in June 2004, so i guess the warranty period is over.
    What should I do?
Just open the thing, warranty period is over, so no harm done, I guess?
    Please help me out

I'll open it and have a look.
I've seen some guides on inet for replacing HD with flashcard.
I think i'm gonna try that, if nothing else works.
Still pretty fast for the HD to fail... although I got a a lot of music hours outta this one

  • LCD on MuVo Slim is dead.

The LCD on my MuVo Slim 256 player is not displaying any text or images. Up until now, the player has been great.
The MP3 player still works, that is, it will turn on/off and will play music, but I cannot see anything on the display. The display will light-up blue when powered on/off, but no text or images...nothing. I cannot tell how much battery is left, what song I'm on, etc.
Unfortunately, because I cannot see the menu options, I can't determine if the LCD's settings are just too low to be displayed or what the issue is. Very frustrating.
I had previously downloaded the firmware update in January to address another issue, which it did. I formatted the MP3 player and re-installed the firmware, but I still can't read the LCD.
    Thanks for your help.Mike B.

If you've updated the firmware and it hasn't returned then unfortunately it has failed. You'll need to contact Creative Support.

  • After instalation firmware my Creative MuVo TX SE is dead

What I have to do? It packed up.... It is switch off all time in computer too

The MuVo TX has a rescue mode. Can you get into this?
I'm not quite sure where you go from there, but there are some other MuVo experts on the forum who can probably help.

  • Muvo TX FM will no longer connect via

My Muvo TX FM was hooked up to my PC via USB and it froze and didn't transfer files to the PC. I removed it and it still plays fine standalone but will not light up or be recognized by a USB port. Have tried 3 different PC's under Win XP and they do not recognize anything is attached. For some reason Knowledge Base article SID 4794 on how to restore does not include any Muvo except the Muvo2 and the method given for this player did not work. I have also tried hooking up to USB while holding down the on/off/play button, scroller button and both together, nothing. All files fromn the CD are loaded.
Emailed customer support and received a form reply telling me to do all the things I had done from the knowledge base already and then to repond to that email if it still didn't work. Did that Tuesday and no reply as yet. Totally inadequate service for a company of this reputation and size for what should be a simple matter.

Oh yeah I totally agree. Inadequate support staff. I have gotten all those same emails you did telling me to try things I'd told them I'd already tried. Its a bunch of canned responses. Maybe monkees run it. They sent a line to rate how helpful they were. I let them know pretty much what you said: it was shocking and crappy that a company that size and selling things that are not cheap that break after warrantee ends...its not right. Go in and send your own rating. I have a MuVo 2 Fm- just went DEAD. Won't power on, nothing. At least you still have sound.
