Dead Nano (no charging+locked up)

Ahem... big troubles...
Today I decided to run my nano battery flat since i thought it was good for batteries, so i left it playing all day.
At work the battery got depleted, i go home, connet the nano to my G5,
it hangs with the apple logo on the display without backlight.
Ok, i do some searches how to reset the nano, did that (select+menu for 6 seconds), then it shuts itself off. (don't know if it really resetted it because of the flat battery)
It's dead since then, no more resetting, no target disk, no battery charging icon...(which i've never seen, because i just got it about 24 hours ago...)
Here: apple support
It says:
If iPod is locked up it will not charge , reset iPod.
But I can't reset it when the battery is dead...
So, what to do if it was locked up when having no more charge to reset it...
Sounds like an evil loophole to me...
Any suggestions?

I'm having a lot of similar issues...
Whenever I let the battery drain completely and then connect the nano to my iMac G5 via USB, all I get on the nano screen is a stucky battery recharge icon. It's all in black and white and looks like the recharge icon on the 3G iPod models.
Resetting the nano multiple times will eventually reactive it and then it goes into the "Do Not Disconnect" stage and it charged. However, when I eject it it stops charging after a while and the screen says "Charged". When I then unplug the USB cable the battery is almost empty.
Any suggestions?

My ipod is dead, will not charge, nothing comes up on screen?

After leaving the Nano to charge for a minimum of of 30 minutes, try to reset it by pressing and holding both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
You'll also want to make sure the hold switch is not in the ON position.

I 'think' my Ipod Touch is in recovery mode and people say to hold the power and home button for 10 sec and i did, but its still not turning back on. Plus its dead and wont charge. PLZ HELP ME!!!!

    - If in recovery mode the screen will have an iTunes logo with an USB plug.
    - Have you tried connecting it to your computer for a n hw and then see if it appears in iTunes. If it does restore the iPod.
    - If screen is blank, try placing he iPod in recovery mode and then restoring. For recovery mode:

Is it not charging at all? Did you try to reset? If YES to both, request for a replacement of the ipod. Battery or the unit itself is defective. Cheers!

  • Ipod nano not charging or being recognized by windows

    have windows xp pro
cannot get ipod nano to charge or be recognized by windows
left it connected for the past couple hours
had to get a 2.0 usb pci card, other things are connected and working in the new card, its connected directly to the card

Ok go ahead and try and reset the ipod while it is plugged into the card you have for usb 2.0. You reset the ipod by moving the hold switch on top of the ipod a couple of times until it is white. Once you have done that go ahead and hold down the menu and the center select button for 6-10 seconds until you see the apple logo. After you see the apple logo let go of the buttons and see if the ipod is showing up.
Another thing you could try is taking the ipod to another computer and see if it shows up on that computer.
Also remove any other usb devices from the computer except the mouse and the keyboard.
If you still have this problem type in on the support web site msconfig and try that. If none of these steps help you take the ipod to the nearest apple store, or contact technical support and have the ipod sent in for repair.

  • HT1349 my iphone went dead and wont charge at all, please help :(

my iphone went dead and wont charge. I tried plugging it on the wall and via the usb to my laptop but still no luck. any suggestions on how to make it work?

Try using a differnt USB cord.   Or hold down the power/home button together for 10 to 15 sec or until you see the apple logo and then release, wait for your phone to boot back up.

  • My iPod nano has a lock on the screen. How can I unlock and use my nano?

My iPod nano has a lock on the screen. How can I unlock and use my iPod?

Do you know there is the lock/unlock thing on the top or bottom right? If that doesn't work, hold down the middle circle and top portion of the circle button at the same time and hold until the screen goes black. Let go and soon an apple will appear. If you wait / press some buttons (i am not sure exactly how this part works) it will turn white and then the screen will appear again. You have all your music and everything still but the problem should be gone. This also works if your iPod ever freezes.

  • Nano wont charge properly

my nano will download songs and update but as soon as the update is done the nano stops charging, and it wont charge at all unless you are updating. it keeps dying on me
    please help
      Windows 2000

The first thing they tell you to do in cases like these is to run down your battery to around 5-10%, then recharge fully. Do it twice to make sure.
Remember that, if you leave the cable to sync and recharge, the USB port may actually lose power over time if you leave it in too long. For that reason, charge from a wall plug, if possible.

  • What does that mean when your iPod only charges when you battery dies? (meaning: when my battery isn't dead it wont charge but when the battery is dead thats the only time it will charge)

    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Do you have service pack 4 installed on your windows? If not you need to get that downloaded and installed from microsoft.
To view which service pack that you have installed, right click on My Computer (either the icon on your computer desktop or in your windows start bar) and then left click on "properties." Your service pack information should be displayed in the window that comes up.

Ipod completely dead and wont charge. I've had it plugged in for days to multiple things. never happened before. please help!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod nano was charged and now the screen is all white

my ipod nano was charged overnight,  now the front screen is all white  i cannot see anything(playlists etc)   i have reset it and the screen comes back on but only for a minute  then it goes right back to a white screen....    what is wrong with this and how do i fix it?

If none of the 5 R's of troubleshooting are able to solve the problem, the issue is hardware related, meaning you'll need to have the iPod serviced or replaced.  The LCD screen may have simply burned out or wore out over time.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/.
It wouldn't also hurt to the let iPod's battery full drain. Then charge the iPod back up and go through the 5 R's again.

Please tell me what I can do.
    I am so frustate.
    Please help me.
    Thanks

Are you currently plugging it into a computer? If so, try plugging it into a USB power adapter. It's possible that you're trying to charge it from a low-power USB port, and that's not enough to sustain your phone and get it charging.
If you're still unable to get it to charge, schedule a visit with your local genius bar at apple.com/retail
