Dead Pixel Macbook Pro Retina Display

About 2 months ago I purchased a MBP Retina 15 inch and was amazed by it. However, this evening, whilst watching a film I noticed a tiny cluster of dead pixels on the screen. Considering I spent close to 2k on this laptop this is not on. My question is, am I covered under warranty, if so should I take it to the apple store and if so do I need to take any supporting documentation? Cheers guys.

I just purchased a MacBook pro retina display 15" 2.3ghz 2 weeks ago and i thought everything was going to be as clear as ever, but it turns out that more stuff are pixelated than before!!!! For example icons and text on websites, download managers and even the programes i work on such as (Adobe photshop, illustrator, indesign) you can see the tool's pixels.! Is this the way it should be or is there something wrong going on?!

Probably the cloud edition CS6 is performed to retina display? Well, I cannot afford the cloud edition now...
Adobe Acrobat Pro think it's 10. Pixelated.
Portrait Professional 11. Pixelated.
Lightroom 5 is ok with retina display.
And some other programs I'll might use, but not now, for 3D editing and video. I'm afraid of not getting the HiDPI quality in several programs, while I can't wait 6 months or 1 year to developers "work on it"... My job is now, no later...

Take it back in and gently but firmly try to persuade a senior supervisor to authorize a replacement. Had it been stuck on black, would have been easier on the persuasion, but you may get lucky.

Photoshop CS5.1 Pixelated on Macbook Pro Retina Display

I am a photography student who just bought a new macbook pro retina display. I use Photoshop a lot for my course so need help with this as quick as possible.
Everything on Photoshop seems to be pixelated which is not ideal right now. I also have an iMac which runs the same version of Photoshop and that is absolutely fine, never had a problem. My friend suggested downloading a trial version of the CC as this automatically sorted hers out but did not mine. Any suggestions at all will be SO helpful as I've researched into this problem and are yet to find an answer!

Very simple. The hiDPI Macintoshes and MacOS support for same were released after CS6 was released. Some of the CS6 applications got upgrades to support these hiDPI displays; others including InDesign did not get such upgrades until the CC 2013 version.
Sorry, but there is not anything you can do about this with CS5-vintage software.

Macbook Pro Retina Display & Adobe programs are pixelated

Hi. I just purchased a new Macbook Pro Retina Display and have installed CS 5.5 Design Standards to it. When I open the programs (any program: inDesign, Photoshop, etc), the image is pixelated and in low resolution. When I export what I'm working on it looks crisp and great but the software itself is pixelated. Are there any upgrades / updates for CS 5.5 that will fix this problem? Or will there be in the future? I cannot afford to get CS 6 quite yet and am wondering if I should return my Mac and downgrade to get rid of the retina display?? Thanks.

To get Retina support, you'll have to upgrade to CS6 or join the Adobe Creative Cloud.

Retina support arrive in Photoshop CS6 (13.0.1 and Cloud 13.1). It will not be added to CS5.5

About a month ago I've noticed these strange artifacts (blocky pixelated looking) running vertically down the screen. It first started when using Safari. Then it started to happen all the time. I turned off the auto switch video in preferences, which I'm assuming forces the computer to use the separate video card and the artifacts go away.
On top of that issue I also have had the ghosting issue.
Anyone else have this problem?

artifacts onscreen could mean a faulty gpu. You said by forcing it on inbuilt gpu you do not find this issue highlights that. Do take it in to apple for service and also tell them of your ghosting issue.
There are a few retina owners who have faulty gpus.

Well there are two or three causes of eyestrain with displays different people seem to have.
1: Small type/UI elements
2: Glossy screens
3: Flicker rate

The higher pixel rate combined with the display set at the higher resolution is going to cause UI and type to be smaller and harder to see. In fact it's advised to set OS X to a lower resolouton so it upscales better to match the pixel of the higher display.
Reports coming in say watching HD 1920 x 1080 trailers on the anti-glare 17" is best as the pixel content matches the display almost fullscreen, where on the MBP-R it's upscaled and thus looks blurry.
HD content makers are NOT going to change all their video cameras to support 2880 x 1800 full screen, so in order to get a clearer image playing HD 1080 content, one will have to do so in a smaller window.

I am thinking of either buying the Macbook Pro retina display (15") or waiting for the iMac 27" display. I am mainly focusing on the display, so what is better?

MacBook Pro Retina Display Support ?

I just purchased a new MacBook Pro Retina Display laptop, and would like to know when I can expect Adobe to upgrade the CS6 suite of apps to take advantage of the Retina display.

The retina display does not introduce a new issue. Dot pitch has been increasing for years. We see people that will adjust their LCDs to a non-native resolution (ie: running 1024x768 on a 1280x1024-capable display). Or they will adjust their system settings to display larger fonts. You show a complete lack of understanding of the problem, and what the Retina display brings to the table. It's not just a higher density display — it's roughly double the resolution. You even said it, but did you think it through? According to your suggestion, we should run the display at the double resolution and deal with half-sized UI elements. Can I say, "yuck!"? Most are smaller than my mouse pointer. Some apps that don't support the display are completely unusable. I tried playing Team Fortress 2 soon after getting my rMBP and found that the settings UI is so small it's impossible. The doubled resolution isn't so we get more screen real estate — it's so we get super-crisp images and a level of detail in the photos and graphics we work on that parallels printed work. Hell, I'd settle for just getting the workspace Retina supported. I don't care if the UI is grainy, I just want my photos and prints to be crystal clear.
I'm STILL waiting on word (any word at all) from Adobe that even HINTS on Retina support. I refuse to purchase software because odds are, it'll be in 6.5 and I'll have to purchase all over again. I'd go Creative Cloud but I'm not paying $50/mo for ugly software from a company who could be a bit more loving to the consumer. Also, I just can't afford it. Did you cause the nick? Or did it just appear one day? There are reports of the retina screen having exploding pixels which leaves a hole in the screen that can be felt when you rub your finger across it. If that is what happened then it should be covered under the warranty. If you caused the nick then it is not covered and the fix will be very expensive, somewhere in the $1000 range.

There is no such thing. In CS6 only PS itself is Retina compatible. You would have to use CC for full Retina support.
