Dead pixel on my new Satellite Pro A200GE-1F9

Dear Sir/Madam,
Two days ago, I purchased a Satellite Pro A200GE.
The Screen had a stuck pixel (constantly red) in the middle and the Genuine Windows Vista seal (on the back of the machine) was broken; it appears as if it was scratched and three relatively large pieces were removed.
With regard to the stuck pixel, it seems that I can't make a claim on the warranty as there needs to be more than four subpixels affected. I have tried the software solutions, none seem to work (JScreen Fix and UDPixel). I fear that trying the manual methods may void the warranty.
I would be grateful if you can advise me on how to deal with my current situation.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Yousif M. A. Masoud

Thank you all for your replies, very much appreciated.
It turns out that the new Vista seal, by design, has three pieces missing.
With regard to the machine, it can't be labelled as faulty even though I was not made aware of the defect before I made the purchase. Anyway, my first ever online replacement/refund process has started, I'm hoping it goes smoothly.
Regards,
YMasoud

  • Satellite Pro A200GE-1F9 cannot resume from Sleep or Hibernate with SP1

    Hi,
    Laptop Details: [My Laptop|http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&BV_UseBVCook ie=yes&PRODUCT_ID=131911]
I've recently used Windows Update to install vista SP1 on my laptop, however since this install I cannot resume from Sleep or Hibernate. (The service pack had installed successfully - according to Windows anyway).
When resuming from Sleep, I get a blank screen.
    When resuming from Hibernation, I get a STOP error: +Stop 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x82F11020, 0x9A9D9714, 0x00000000)+ caused by *Classpnp.sys*.
After checking these forums, I've seen that Toshiba does not currently support SP1 +is that correct?+
+*If so, when/how will we be notified when Toshiba release a "patch" for Vista SP1 compatibility? I'm guessing via the TEMPO service?*.+
Prior to installing SP1, I installed all updates (from both Microsoft and Toshiba) and had no problems; all drivers remain up to date.
Thanks for any replies in advance.

I presume this happens due to a compatibility issue between some drivers and SP1
    > After checking these forums, I've seen that Toshiba does not currently support SP1 is that correct?
    Yes this is right.
    > If so, when/how will we be notified when Toshiba release a "patch" for Vista SP1 compatibility? I'm guessing via the TEMPO service?
I think there should be information on the Toshiba driver page, support page or we will receive some information from Toshiba via Tempo applications.

  • How to downgrade to WXP on Satellite Pro A200GE with Toshiba XP Recovery

Hi I have A200GE having preinstalled windows vista business edition and I ordered it with windows xp and an xp recovery dvd came as its of 3.01GB.
I really cannot understand that why it cannot install as when i install a blue screen comes in the end and laptop restarts.
Than i came to know the nlite software and the sata drivers I loaded the sata drivers on another dvd disk separetly as nlite did not recognize my dvd window cd.
But still I loaded the files separetly, now when I loaded that dvd the setup does not start rather a dos command type window opens and I dont know what to do.
Plz anybody help me what canI do of the xp recovery cd which came with my laptop as I am desperate to use it vista is too slow and i cannot tolerate it.

    Thanks alot for your reply.
Yes i ordered my laptop with Xp cd which in fact is dvd as its 3.01 GB and yes it is specially made for my notebook ie Satellite Pro A200GE-1F9.
I purchased my laptop from sharptext in ireland.
The problem is that when XP setup is copmpleted and when it restarts a blue screen appears and the laptop restarts coz it does not have the intel matrix storage driver.
Thats funny a cd which is made for my laptop does not work. Furthermore I asked the representative from whome i bought the laptop; he asked from toshiba sales person the person said xp should not be installed coz if the laptop has any kind of hardware failure they wont claim it.
Secondly I am running the Bios of XP on my Vista currently and now also i have tried but of no avail.
Further i have copied the Sata drivers on another disc and copied all the data on recovery cd and made it bootable. Then the setup does not start as command window is opened.
Really doono what to do ohhhh God.
I think the last thing i can do is that buy a new XP cd from microsoft because a p1 with windows 95 is faster than with Vista.
    Honestly, what do u say.
Any further help will be appreciated

  • Sleeping issue on brand new Satellite Pro U500-1EX

    Hi Guys,
    I've got a brand new Satellite Pro U500-1EX with Windows 7 64bit.
The laptop is having some issues with its sleep function. I am wondering if others have had the same problem - and if anyone knows anything that can be done.
    OK there are two issues;
    1. when the laptop enters sleep mode - it will come out of it on its own after some time. it goes to the login screen and wait for about another hour before going back to sleep. This is while plugged into power - and no LAN.
    2. When I close the lid to put the laptop to sleep - and while on the battery - after some time it will not power up at all. Plugging in the power will not do anything at all - the power light will not come on at all - suggesting the laptop does not even notice being plugged. I then have to take out the battery and switch the computer on (thereby losing any data I had when I put the computer to sleep!!).
So, have you seen this problem with your satellite pro's? Is it something common and to be ignored - or is there an easy solution to it?
    Thanks in advance.
    - Audette

I have actually updated the BIOS to the latest - one of the first things done when I got the laptop.
And, yes I do have the pre-installed OS that came with toshiba.
One thing I did notice is, if I have the laptop in standby and switch the laptop on again whilst in battery mode, then it will power up. But if I take out the power and plug in power before powering the laptop on- then it will not power up at all!!! Thereby, I have to take the battery out and put back in to get it to work. wierd huh??!!

  • New Satellite Pro L670-14M won't turn on unless the charger is plugged in?

    Hi All,
New to the forum so would be grateful for any help on this matter.
I purchased a Brand New Satellite Pro L670-14M laptop last week. Now it has been working fine up until today. The last time I used it while just running off the battery was monday evening. I was working on the laptop sending email etc today, and I decided to move rooms. For a reason I have yet to discover I unplugged the charger from the wall (instead of just unplugging the charger from the laptop) while it was plugged into the laptop and the laptop just switched off much to my shock. The was no sparks that i saw from the outlet as i removed the plug but now the laptop will not switch on unless the ac power supply is connected. If i unplug the charger the computer will not turn on.
Now my first thought is that i have (crossed the beams) killed the battery, but the strange thing is, when the laptop is plugged in and turned on and I'm on my desktop screen and i click on the battery icon in the taskbar it states '94% available (plugged in, charging)
While I wait hopefully for some responses I will turn the laptop off and leave the charger plugged to see if the battery has charged beyond 94%

    Hello
I think BIOS update would be worth a try in your case. Have a look on Toshiba driver download page:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
But before you start the update: Make sure you are logged in as Administrator and close all running programs. Unzip all files from zip archive firstly.
After successful BIOS update load the default settings in BIOS.
Do you use original Toshiba battery and AC/DC adaptor or are they 3rd party parts?

  • Satellite Pro A200-1F9 - FN buttons dont work

  • Re: How to install Windows 8.1 on new Satellite Pro C50?

I've just purchased a TOSHIBA SATELLITE PRO C50 which came with Windows 7 Pre-installed.
Upon starting the system for the first time, I simply shut it down and put the Windows 8.1 Media in the Optical Drive (disk 1 of 4) and then went into the recovery wizard, and may have chosen the wrong option, as I completely wiped the hard drive and partitions.
Now that I've done that, I cannot find the way to install the Windows 8.1 Pro Media from the 4 DVDs provided. I cannot find the correct option to do this. I've changed the boot option in the system settings by pressing F2 upon boot, so it reads from the DVD drive. The DVD starts up but then takes me into a system recovery area, which is no good as I've completely wiped the system.
How can I just simply now install the provided Windows 8.1 Pro onto the clean system now?
    Thanks for any advice.

At first I would like to know which notebook model do you have exactly. If possible please post the whole model number (C50-xxxxx). I just want to check specification for this notebook model.
Have you bought this notebook model as brand new product and originally boxed?
Anyway, if you have original recovery installation discs for it you should be able to install it without some problems. Start your notebook and press F12 to enter boot menu. When this menu wil be shown on the screen, put disc 1 into optical disc drive, choose CD/DVD drive in menu and press ENTER.
ODD should start to read disc and recovery wizard will be shown o the screen. Choose option to install out-of-box/factory settings and just follow menu on the screen.

  • Dead pixel on my new iPad Air

I bought a new iPad air today and I use about 20minutes I found a very dead pixel on the right bottom screen. How disappoint that I saw this thing on my screen

Take it back to the place of purchase or to the Apple Store for a replacement. You have a 14 day return policy (return for refund) in the USA (at least). Take advantage of that policy to get one with a screen that you are happy with.

  • Dead Pixels on brand new 24" iMac

I picked up my 24" 2.8GHz, 1GB Ram, 320GB HDD iMac on Friday the 22/02/08, and the first thing I noticed was a few dead pixels. There is a green one in the top left, one in the middle/right top and what seems like a clump of about 2 or 3 in the middle of the screen. I am very annoyed, I paid alot of extra money for a 'Premium Mac.' I will not settle for just letting this go.
So, what is the warranty/general rule for pixels?
Will they replace it gladly? Or say there isn't enough missing pixels?
This is a brand new fresh out of the box Mac. If they refuse to replace it I will just return it because I'm not satisfied with the quality.
Is there a time period in which I can return an iMac because I don't think it is good quality?
P.S. I love my iMac! But seeing it with such a defection is breaking my heart, this is my baby!!!
    P.P.S I'm in Australia
    Thanks for any help!

The policy on pixels varies from manufacturer to manufacturer but one thing is consistent: none of which I am aware have a zero defect rule. Most companies look at three different factors: location, clustering, and number. A couple dead pixels clusters in the middle of the screen tends to be regarded as more serious then a couple dead pixels clustered on the edge. A moderate number of pixels scattered about the screen is considered less serious still. All you can do is 1) first deal with the local dealer and if that fails, 2) try dealing with corporate.
BTW, if you do a search on fix dead pixels, dead pixels, and dead lcd pixels, you'll find there are a lot of programs that claim to do just that. In general, I've seen more success with stuck pixels being fixed (they are always on) rather than unlit pixels, but I've even seen them revived on occasion through the use of these programs.

  • Dead pixel on brand new Qosmio G30

    Hello,
I just bought this machine and it is amazing. The best laptop, for sure.
However, I was very disappointed to see a faulty subpixel on the screen. When the power is on, and on a black background, there is a green pixel that stays there.
There is a leaflet that comes with the qosmio that explains about warranty and dead pixels but I cannot understand it..
The company I bought it from is currently checking on what can be done about it..
Is this pixel enough so that it can be taken to warranty? What else can be done about it??
From now on I will always test before buying.. but anyway, if someone has an advice for me it would be great!
    Regards

I had the same problem and am now on the second machine.
I felt that the whole situation regarding what they suggest is acceptable when I deem it faulty was strange to say the least - however, Toshiba are no different from any other manufacturers on their approach.
I recommend you assess how much of a problem the pixel is for you before taking things further - to decide on this look to where the pixel is in the field of vision and decide if it is something you can live with. As I discovered, even exchanging the machine and having new screens yielded the same problem in a different place until the fourth correction.
If you can't live with it, take it back to the seller at first and see if you can get an exchange - this is what PC World did for me. The replacement machine had a similar problem and I then wrote to the Toshiba Head Office and complained. To their credit their very quickly arranged a repair and got the machine back to me. This then had to go back again but is now OK.
Toshiba did not have to do this and I can't fault their approach to me personally although as a whole the industry policy on this type of fault seems poor in my assessment!
    Hope this helps.

  • Dead Pixel on brand new MBP

Hi to all. I just bought my MBP 17" 2.8GHZ no less than a week ago. I love it...except 3 days into using it I discovered a dead pixel! Not just on the side...but in the middle of the screen.
Called the Apple store and they said I have to make an appointment to have the Geniuses look at it to verify that its a dead pixel. I mean I think one can know if the pixel is dead or not.
Anyways, I custom ordered the 7200 RPM HD, so they can't replace it in the store. If they said they had to open it up and replace the screen...is it going to hurt any of the internals or wires? The dead pixel bugs the crap out of me...but I want to make sure that it wont cause more harm by having them replace a screen, as this has to last me a long time.
    Thanks.

Had the same problem. I just called up, explained the problem, they sent me a shipping label, and I sent it back and had a new one inside of a week. New one has no dead pixels that I can tell... yet. Only had it for 2 days. The previous one had a bright red pixel that was so annoying since I restore photos or sit in the terminal with a black background all day.

  • Dead pixel on my mac book pro retina display

Hi, i bought a mac book retina display and has a "dead pixel" I took it to apple's techical support (In Bogota-Colombia) and they told me tscrhat apple's warranty won't cover this issue..is that true? The sad thing is that I'm a designer and i bought this computer because of the screen,it has only 3 months and that dead pixel really bothers me and affects my work....what can i do?

Because it must have more than 7 dead pixels, i'm searching for this policies but I don't find anyhting!

  • Dead pixel on my new iPod Touch 5th Generation. Can I get a replacement?

Today I bought an iPod Touch 16GB Silver. I activated it and after maybe half an hour, I noticed a single dead pixel in the upper left part of the display. I know that with iPhones there's a policy that 1 dead pixel, replacement. iPads have a 3 dead pixels - replacement policy. So I am not sure what is the case with iPods. Here are photos for the proof:

You would need to ask an Apple employee to get a definitive answer.

  • Dead pixel on brand new laptop

    Hi,
I have just purchased a laptop HP pavilion g6 2229TU and discovered a dead pixel. From another thread on this forum, I came to know that I can get a 14 days replacement. However, I have purchased a plan for two years extended warranty that had to register the serial number - how is that still going to be valid?

Where did you buy it? If you have to take it back like to Best Buy they can just transfer the extended warranty to the replacement unit.
