Dead pixel on my Qosmio X300 screen

Hello
I have a problem that happened today.
My laptop was fine yesterday. I took it up in its bag, Went with it to the college and I switched on on and I found a dead pixel - Not just one tiny one. it is a small one, about 3 x 3 square on
1440 x 900 resolution - on the screen. I don't know how it came or what does cause it in first place ?
I tried to press on it gently many times and then, it was moved to another place. I did that again and It was moved again. I try now, but with no avail. I am really annoyed because I am not buying a quality laptop for such defects, although there is a range of maximum 8 pixel defect that should happened so I am eligible to change the screen. The problem it it annoys me. And I can't find a way to fix it. My laptop is just 7 months old. It is a Qosmio X300-158.
What could I do ?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply.
I will try to visit them in the nearest time. Well in my case, if I considered that that is not dust and these are dead pixels, then there are 16 pixels of them. I counted them one by one, which is enough to entitle me to replace that monitor. However, I won't complicate things. There is also another problem that I can't leave my laptop for more than 1 day. All my work, designs and assignment are in it. I hope that can be fixed in less than 1 day.
I think that of it is dust, that shall not take more than 2 hours to fix it, but who knows. I really need to take to them first. !

  • Will warranty cover 1 dead pixel and an incredibly annoying screen flicker?

    Problems:
    1) I have 1 dead pixel on my iPod Touch and it's very annoying as it sticks out because the entire screen is black, and there is just this dot of light
    2) I sometimes use my iPod Touch in the dark, so this means that I keep the contrast at the lowest level, as it being too bright hurts my eyes. The problem with this is that the screen flickers between contrasts slightly and it ends up making me feel dizzy.
I've tried turning the auto brightness option to off to prevent the above, but it doesn't make any difference. I've also tried turning the contrast slightly up too, but still it flickers slightly.
    Any advice?
    Thanks

The warranty will cover a dead pixel and the flickering screen. But before we get drastic, let's do some troubleshooting. Try a hard reset by holding the home and sleep/wake button at the same time until the Apple logo appears on screen. Skip the slide to power off screen.

  • One dead pixel on my iphone5s's screen

i found one dead pixel on my iphone5s screen, i just bought this phone 1 month , can i replace my phone?

When my brand spanking new iMac had a similar issue last year they sent me a new one so I could transfer everything over then they arranged for a courier to collect the old one a few days later.
Just be warned if you don't give it back for when they say they will charge your credit card again.
It was fine for me as obviously I wasn't trying to steal!

  • Dead Pixel or dirt under the screen.

So i got a new macbook last week, and so far i love it.
I noticed a small green dot on my screen, and told apple about it (after an exhausting chain of calls and trips to the apple store). They said they could either repair it or replace it. Both would take about the same amount of time, but if I were to replace it, I would lose all my data.
My question is, is there anyway to backup my computer thoroughly, including saved passwords, itunes, downloaded applications and plug-ins, etc? Basically, I need to choose between repair and replacing it. Any cons of a simple repair? The apple support guy didn't give any.
A few off topic questions: Because I have a post-April macbook, does it mean my screen isn't one of the crappy ones? Or is that just a rumor? I'm going to check when i go back to the apple store on sat, but I'm just curious. Also, I think my battery is subpar to what apple is promising. obviously 3 and a half hours of wireless productivity means no applications open, sending emails, and that's it, but I clock in at 2 doing minimal intensive work. I pretty much lose 1 percent every minute just having wi-fi on. The apple "genius" did a "diagnostics" test (with an old ipod nano??) and said it was fine.
Thanks for any advice you can give to a newly reformed PC user. ;P

If you have an external drive that is large enough to hold the entire contents of your MacBook then you can use a product like Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) to make a complete duplicate of your internal hard drive. In fact, if you just plan on making a single clone of your system then you can download and use CCC for no charge (it's a shareware program but it allows limited use for no charge). You'd want to make a disk image (.dmg) using CCC which you can then store as a single file.
After you make the clone and when your MacBook is returned you can then clone the disk image (.dmg) back to your new MacBook.
Another product you might want to consider (other than CCC) is SuperDuper! (similar in functionality to CCC).

  • 3 Dead Pixels after Blue Screen crash, should I make another Genius Bar appointment?

Ok, so yesterday I made a GB appointment, after a friend told me to, when I showed him that I had a dead pixel on my phone's screen. So when I got to apple, I showed them the dead pixel and they told me they were going to replace the screen on the phone. It turned out that the machine they use to do so, was down, so they ended up giving me a replacement phone. So I checked it out at the store and it looked fine. So now today, while running some errands, my new replacement iPhone had crashed and turned blue, then rebooted on me & a few moments after when I got back on the phone and was imessaging, I noticed 3 dead pixels instantly (one on right under the names of the contact on the message, on the J key on the board and to the middle-right where your send messages are displayed)
Now I'm thinking that, because my originally iPhone had crashed and turned blue also and I noticed the one dead pixel on it that same day, that the blue screen crashing could possibly be causing this??
Should I go back to the apple store and tell them what happened?

(Update) the pixels actually all seem to be red, whenever I go on a yellow screen and I just noticed a fourth one.    I think I should take my phone in

  • I have the same case with you an iPad Air in dead pixel or speckle silver dust on screen.  It is been 3 months I bought in Avant Abenson in Greenbelt Makati Philippines. Today I decided to change my screen protector film but the speckle dust on the screen

Speckles dust on the screen and it cannot be removed today when I decided to change the screen protector film and noticed is not my fault it is a factory defect on screen it is either dead pixel or speckle dust on screen they are so many said and experience I have read.  So I need the replacement a new one for that dismayed screen on my iPad Air. I bought this 3 months ago in Avant Abenson at Greenbelt Makati Philippines.  I need the replacement for tomorrow I will go to the store I bought.  I love apple products but they need to replace and make go round to improve some defects and cannot be more escalate with this issue of the many of patronizing your products.  It is sometimes irritating to the eyes and seen dirt on the screen.  Thank you apple customer service to bringing up my complaints and a replacement for tomorrow's to inform the store I bought and advise them here in the Philippines to facilitate in regards to this matter.

I wanted to buy an ipad air to replace my ipad 2 but the one I wanted was (luckily) sold out.
Yesterday I tested the air from a collegue and I noticed the screen was SUBSTANTIALLY less sensitive than the screen of my ipad 2 when using my stylus.
I use Stylus R US especially for I annotate and with the air this did not work well at all... Half of the time there was no contact registered so underying certain parts of the text was a disaster...
Just working with the finger all whent OK... Just fear that another app I use a lot (notes +) will have same problem.
On the Ipad 4 also retina all goes *** smooth as on my ipad 2...
Is this a fault of a specific ipad air series? Or is this normal?? If it is I think this is truelly a huge flaw and I cannot see how not manny people using the ipad for notetaking etc did not notice this...

  • L220x: dead reddish pixel in center of the screen

I bought this and another L220x 4 months ago from a lenovo reseller. Now there has appeared a slightly red-tinted dead pixel to center of the screen.
Do you know whether this display has a warranty that covers it or whether I can get that dead pixel working again. I'd prefer the latter because I love this display and can't think of being without it.
It's just a single dead pixel in the center of the screen, so it's not exactly bothering me with 2 million working ones around it except when I happen to spot it.
I guess it's going to be more common with always increasing pixels per inch -counts.
Btw. Your forum registration prompt is an usability nightmare. Why request so strong passwords anyway?

    welcome to the forum!
unfortunately one suck subpixel isn't enough for warranty.   the pixel replacement policy for thinkvision displays can be found here.
regarding passwords, i understand your point.   perhaps this is something we can explore changing in the future.

  • Dead pixels and dust under screen of 4 new iPads

I own 2 iPhones and finally decided to buy an iPad, actually 2, one for myself and one for my fiancé. On launch night we purchased a 16gb black wifi model at our local Walmart. After about and hour so, we noticed the screen had 2 dead pixels. So we returned it for a refund and went to our local BestBuy today and purchased two black 16gb wifi models. They both had dead pixels or dust under the screen. So we returned to BestBuy and showed it to multiple employees and the store manager. While on my way back to the store I called the Apple support number to report the issue. The Apple guy said it was probably a bad batch.
We ended up getting 2 16gb white models. I am using one now to type this message. It's screen is flawless. Unfortunately, the other white iPad has two dead pixels. So I am returning to BestBuy in the morning to exchange the white one for another.
I didn't think it was possible to have this much bad luck with a product. I am still a huge Apple fan and will continue to purchase Apple products. It must be Samsung's quality control. At least I have one flawless iPad. If I have to pay $200 extra to get a flawless 64GB model I will.
Anyone else have any issues with the screen on the new iPad?

Well I had an issue as well with the New iPad screen. The first had dust under the screen took it back upgraded to a Verizon model at an apple store. I made  the mistake not checking it before I drove 50 miles back home. Got home same issue!!! Now i was off to apple store again to have it replaced which they did. This time I opened it in the store sure enough another one with dust or dead pixels on the screen. It  was very clear on a white background. They swapped it again now this is my fourth New iPad checked it out again and it was 100 percent perfect for now which it should be NEW.

  • Dust under screen and Dead Pixels on new MBP...

I got a new Macbook and, aside from the fact that it was missing the P key, there was a new manufacturing defect I hadn't seen before, (must be from the new process), wherein dust was trapped behind the glass screen.
The Apple Store was great about letting me exchanging it, no problem. Then I realized that I needed firewire so I returned the new and unopened Macbook replacement to upgrade to a MacBook Pro, but now I'm disheartened, because the new MacBook Pro, though a thing of beauty, has a bright dead pixel in the top middle screen, as well as a dimmer dead pixel 2 inches to the left of that one.
I just bought the computer a few hours ago.
Do you think I have a shot at them replacing it tomorrow? I hate to think of staring at this, (bright) dead pixel for three years, (not to mention the other dimmer dead pixel).
    Thanks!

Yep, I too did a custom order wtih everything I could get on it. And sad to say, like many iphones I have gotten, it too had dust under the display. It also was about 10 different yellow flecks under the glass. Customer service gave me no fuss really and I have sent it off and am awaiting a new one now. However, it is frustrating that this makes it out of the factory in the first place. Quality control should have seen this, especially when I am looking at buying 2 more shortly. It is my first actual mac purchase aside from the numerous other accories I have bought for PC use. However, with vista being the garbage that it is, I am having mac withdrawls now. ***** when you use something that works and then revert back.
I also noticed the battery lid was a little loose on the laptop. Hopefully this is a isolated thing as well. It does take about another week and a half from what I am told to get the replacement. Kinda ***** to have to wait, but I am sure it will be worth it.

  • Repairing display due to dead pixels

ive had my 2nd 30in display and now seeing 4 -5 dead pixels ... due to the type of work i do the positioning of these are VERY annoying. I spoke to AC and they are willing to repair my display meaning that the casing will remain the same but i guess the guts are to be changed. What are the experiences of anyone who has had this done? Wondering if i should just push for a totally new display however i guess the down side would be getting a display that is worse. would like to hear from anyone who has had this done.

    Hello
I had 6 dead pixels on my macbook pro screen. I was quite annoyed about it.
After a huge research I did find solution. At least you can try it is for free
It is a small Jawa applet which flickers and can unstuck pixels.
I had 6 dead pixels. After using this flickering applet for 10 minutes 4 of the pixels disappeared They were in the center of the screen.
The last two are placed on the top of the screen. On the top dock where the blue apple is. Fortunately there is no way I know about how to hide this dock. Therefor stuck pixels remain. (if you know how to get this flickering applet over entire screen please let me know, the videos on the website did not work for me)
Anyway check this website and good luck, Hope it helps.

  • New 80Gb iPod MP4 player with dead pixels!!!

I just bought the iPod few days ago. I did not realise the iPod that i bought has dead pixels until i watch a movie where the dead pixel is visible on black screen. It has around 10 dead pixels! Does apple cover warranty for dead pixels?

    Some videos... ?
You can't fix it yourself unless you want to possibly destroy it and void your warranty. You will need to contact Apple support for your country/region or take it back to where it was purchased for an exchange.
    Good luck!

  • Dead pixel on my new iPad Air

I bought a new iPad air today and I use about 20minutes I found a very dead pixel on the right bottom screen. How disappoint that I saw this thing on my screen

Take it back to the place of purchase or to the Apple Store for a replacement. You have a 14 day return policy (return for refund) in the USA (at least). Take advantage of that policy to get one with a screen that you are happy with.

  • IPhone 5 Dead pixel or Dust? Need HELP!!!

    Hi guys,
I'm getting paranoid with the one tiny black dot on the screen of my one month old iPhone 5, I don't know if it is a dust/speck or dead pixel inside the screen. I can notice it with white backround or any light colored background. I am very familiar with the stuck pixel, but this is the first time I encounter suspected dead pixel. Can anyone tell me how to determined/differentiate a dead pixel or dust inside the screen? I also check the screen on sleep mode, as far as I can see there was no dust on that area.
Additionally my iPhone has a rattle near the rear camera like clinging sound, how true that is it really normal? They say it's the camera autofocus mechanism??
    Thank you,

Alright. Whenever I tilt the phone on any side the dark dot sometimes change color like green, black, red. I wonder why i can't even see it right in front display (like normal holding the phone when reading texts or emails). I can barely see it when tilting to different angles. What do you think it is? Sad to say there was no apple store in our country to dropped by and to check my phone by an expert ot technician.
    Appreciate your help dude..

  • Dead pixel or stuck pixel??

    Hi,
Have just received my Core 2 MacBook, I'll cut straight to the problem.
There's one problem pixel on the display. A little way below and left of the centre of the screen. The pixel is black when on a white, red or blue screen, however the pixel is capable of displaying green, i.e. when I pass a green panel over it, it appears as normal.
Does this indicate that the pixel is dead, or merely stuck? Or to ask my question in another way, will the Pixel Widget (or similar flashy thing ) have any effect on it?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Dead pixel in 17 inch iMac.

I just got my iMac G5 yesterday, and it really is the greatest computer ever, but I noticed that there's a dead pixel on my otherwise perfect screen. It's an extremely small white dot (smaller than a grain of salt), which is hardly noticeable, but it still bothers me when I do see it. It's borderline nitpicking, but I did pay good money for this thing. Does my warranty cover this?

At the Apple Store here in Las Vegas, I was looking at discounted iMacs a while back. G4s. They had two for a decent discount. One was a demo model, the other one was a return with 1 dead pixel. Otherwise, it was brand new. They were willing to sell it for $200 less, but after two weeks no one was buying. I asked what happened, if the original purchaser got a new one, and the rep told me they replaced the whole computer for free (he was the rep that did the transaction). He also told me the guy was there for about two hours filling out paperwork. Also, the whole thing had transpired three weeks before I was there, and they still hadn't sold the computer, just because of that one dead pixel.
The dead pixel was a red one in the bottom-right corner, about two inches from the side and one inch from the bottom.
I guess the guy was lucky?
