Dead pixel on T61 and warranty!

Hello everyone,
I bought a second-hand T61 7663-CTO from a guy (which is still under warranty till 2011) with just a receipt. I have used it for 2 weeks and now I found a DOZEN of dead pixels on the screen (blame me for not testing it carefully).
So anyone please let me know if my laptop still can take the warranty with that receipt he gave me?
And how long does it take the laptop to be fixed?
Thank you!

Lead_org,
Thanks for your reply! It seems like Lenovo Thinkpad laptops have got a serious problem with the screen. Dead pixels appears on the T61 and T400 that my friends are using too!
that is not my personal experience.

  • IPad 2 Dead Pixel, Can I claim warranty?

Hey, I`m Kee here. Currently I`m holding an AUS iPad 2 32GB WIFI White.
This iPad 2 is a gift from my friend. I`m staying in Malaysia, I would like to ask
how do I proceed the International Warranty Claim Service in my country(MY) since it`s an AUS`s unit.
Please guide me out. I`m facing an annoying dot which is dead-pixel on my iPad 2`s screen.
My country only have Authorized Reseller, no Retailer Store here. I`m sure, if I walk-in into an Authorized Reseller
they will not entertain me, and if go to worst, definitely will treat me as an idiot and deliver wrong information for me.
Please HELP me out! Appreiciate your reply and million thanks.

    Hey,
Normally say with a laptop 1 dead pixel is not enough, a cluster of them is needed for replacement.
    The iPad may be different.
Apple.com/my as you properly know is apples malasya website you can call the number there or go into an auterised reseller and ask, I think they'll be happy to help.

  • Lumia 720 pixel row problem and warranty

    Hello,
I have a 6 month Lumia 720 that has developed a problem in which a complete vertical row of pixels doesn't work in blue, green, yelloow, and other background colors.
I took it for warranty and they told me that they must exchange it for a new unit but they don't have 720's in stock.
THEY WANT TO GIVE ME SOMETHING LOWER THAN EVEN A LUMIA 630, I consider that totally unfair, given that even the 630 is a total downgrade.
How can that be possible? What can I do?

This is a user to user forum so we cannot help you directly in any way. You need to take it up further with Microsoft Mobile support in your country.

  • Windpad 110W Tablet LCD light leak and dead pixels

    Hello,
I've just received the 110W tablet (I'm in the USA) and the LCD exhibits what I'll call light leak, where the backlight leaks or bleeds through so that when viewing a dark background you can see white light around the perimeter of the display.  The white light is in blotches and shows up around the display in various places.  My tablet most noticeably shows light leak on the left side of the display.  Has anyone else had this problem with their Windpad tablets?
I've seen this in several other tablets I've had (Eee Transformer, Xoom FE), and it may just be something we live with, but I'd like to get your feedback before I return it to find the replacement exhibits the same light leak problem.
Also, how about dead pixels?  Mine has a dead (always black) pixel up at the top of the display which doesn't really bother me at all.  Again, I'm just looking for your experience with these issues.
    Thanks!

Interesting that you would return it for the dead pixel.
Absolutely, on a screen this size it would be very annoying. I have only ever had a dead pixel at work and made them change it.
I have no idea what MSI's dead pixel policy is  though so that may affect whether you can return it or not.

  • Dead pixel 27" iMac

Well, I've had my new iMac for around a month now and it's great and today I was working in Photoshop and tried to wipe what I thought was dust off my screen, then I realised it was beneath the glass and a dark dead pixel! NOOOOOO!!!! Because it's a kind of small horizontal line I think 2 pixels are dead. I don't know if they were there from new or have developed over time.
Now I know it's usually just down chance on normal PC laptops and displays as to whether you get a dead pixel or not and you usually have to live with it unless you pay extra for a dead pixel protection thing, but what is the score with new iMacs? I've read an Apple dead pixel policy from 2010 that says up to 10 are perfectly acceptable on large displays. Is this still the case? Pretty expensive bit of kit to have dead pixels.
Do I have any grounds for a replacement?
I wish I could undiscover it as my eyes are drawn to it immediately now. :'(
    It looks like this...

Your iMac is in warranty, so take the iMac to an Apple Store or reseller and the display should be replaced free of charge. Dead pixels are a problem, and as a problem, they must be repaired free of charge if your Mac is in warranty

  • Nokia N8 - Dead Pixel On Screen

Hi all.  Last week I noticed that I might have 1 dead pixel on my screen. its a little black dot that stays at about 10-o'clock position on the screen.
I tried to ignore it, but I just cant because everytime I swipe pictures left and right, the black dot stick out, and my eye is staring at the dot instead of my pictures.
I had to sent my N8 back for a new replacement. It's a shame because I am really happy with the phone aside from that stupid dead pixel.
I just hope that my new replacement won't have any new problems or another dead pixels! I am worried that Nokia quality is dwindling...
So guys please check your screen throughly for dead pixel. Let me know of your findings.  I really hope that I am the only one affected..

For sure it is sad that you had a black pixel.
But you will not be allone, And that is normal.
Think about numbers: you have thousands of pixels (around 200K for each color), Nokia is selling (hopefully) millions of N8. It is just question of probability that some persons will get dead pixels. Nobody, and this include the best quality checks possible, will be able to ensure 100% error free devices. And if it would be possible, you might not be able to pay it.
There will be always some devices with problems, For them it is important to have a good and quick support and replacement policy. And Nokia, as I know the company, is handling this quite good.
N8-00 with orange case, loving it

  • PEOPLE WITH DEAD PIXELS ATTENTION

if you have a dead pixel, i had one and have sent it back, they will fix.
be careful sometimes dead pixels can spread and take over whole screen!!

    Hi
Unfortunately, the only way to fix such issues is a display replacement.
    Please check this Toshiba document:
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB5400ZD0002R01.htm
There you will find a information about a maximum permissible number and type of pixel fault that your Toshiba LCD monitor can exhibit per 1 million pixels

  • White IPAD2 64 3G - White dot underneath Screen, Dead pixel

    Hi,
I am residing in Stockholm,Sweden. i bought my ipad2 the day it was released here on march 25th.
3 days back, i noticed a dead pixel, which was visible while using safari. i have downloaded the pixfix app to confirm the dead pixel. the pixifix conducts few tests by changing the colors and the dead pixel was visible as black.
how ever, i switched off the ipad and to my astonishment, i can see a small white dust/mark underneath the glass with no visible scratches or anything. since i take care of my IPAD very well.
i had the same problem with my first generation ipad after few months which apple replaced it.
since then, i called apple in stockholm, and they directed me to go to Digitall Inn their premium reseller/support. this is the place I bought my ipad2. i went in there and the support guy(daniel) try arguing that it is not a dead pixel instead scratch. and he had no answer when i showed him the white dust/mark. he said one of their technicians will analyze and get back. this was happening last saturday.
its been two days since they never updated/called me, i called up digital inn and i was told that, they will take a photograph of the issues and send to apple. it will take 3 more days to get an udpate from apple. and he also offered me to take the ipad2 back or keep it in store. i told them i need a solution to this and till then they can keep it.
i am seriously surprised by the kind of support i am getting from digital inn. i have invested a lot in this device, and when it is defective, i dont understand the kind of support i am getting from this premium resller
    Dear Apple support,
please help me to resolve this issue of ipad2.
    Subramoniam AB

Yesterday afternoon at 1.01 pm, got a call from  the technician at digital inn, and he told me that apple had indeed sent a new ipad for me and i could go there to collect it.
well, i was thrilled by the sudden turnarround of events and i rushed from my place of work to get it.
so finally a brand new one, i beilive no refurbished stuff. bought a belkin verve folio from webhallen which is next to digitall inn in stockholm.
so glad that, go every thing fast rather than after 2-3 weeks.
    hi thenextbutton.
in stockholm, sweden, they dont have any apple stores but we have to go through thier premium resellers who has stores similar to apple store. hence for any issues, we are left with no choice but work with these folks. digitall inn is one of thier premium reseller.

  • A White Dead Pixel

My almost a month old retina macbook pro has a single white dead or stuck pixel on right top side of screen. It is very noticeable during movies and photoshop. What is apple policy on a single dead pixel. Is white dead or stuck pixel? My old non retina MBP had black dead pixel. Any advice would be great. I am from nepal it may take few weeks to get it replaced even if it is replace in the first place. So i want to know single dead pixel on 3 and half week macbook pro is worth sending to have it checked for possible replacement thanks in advance.

yes i think you should do it sand it for a replacement ,because its the screen it may get worse in do time ,the best this is to sand it back for a replacement screen  ,its best to be save then sorry ,and you should do  back up to just in case you  never no they may do full resat there on it

  • Apple Macbook Pro 15 Retina dead pixel explosion

    I have a 3 month old MBP Retina 15.
The display but has been plagued with problems. The 1st screen started developing 3 dead pixels (2 larger) at 1.5 months and the Regent St store arranged a replacement display. The duty supervisor on the day said 'dead pixels are normal' and 'these are very hard displays to get right'. They are not encouraging   it is not 'normal' for a new laptop costing £1800 to develop such issues.
The 2nd screen has now developed a dead pixel explosion. It was 4 the last time I counted. Such screen degradation is very worrying and I notice some other forum members have experienced similar issues. I would assume it is a certain batch of displays that is causing this issue?
If the display didn't degrade so quickly, I could say it was an excellent laptop with superb display clarity but I can't in the circumstances. I have now booked a 2nd appointment at the genius bar and I don't wish to be told again that this is to be expected with such displays. Apple have a reputation to uphold on quality and reliability. I've never had these issues with my Thinkpads over the years.

I would think that you might have an argument for a replacement machine... if after three trips the machine still isn't operating properly, I would contact Apple Customer Relations and explain to them that instead of repairing the machine time and again, you'd like a replacement.
See http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 for your local phone number.
No guarantee that they'll go for it, but you can always try.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • My iPad Third Gen has a dead pixel

Basically in the middle of my ipad screen i have a white dot on my screen. I rung apple they said it will be replaced over the phone or i could go to the store will the store actually replace my ipad 3 for this. Also do they still stock the old discontinued ipad 3 ?
    Thanks
Ps under the border of my ipad there appears to be a white line not sure why??

Dead pixels are covered under warranty. No questions asked.
White line at the bottom sounds like light shield leakage. Should also be covered.
    Good luck

  • Stucked green or Dead Pixel since Update

    Hey to everyone...
Ive found one strange Pixel mistake on my screen... If there is Red color the Pixel stays green... but on Black., White ,Green or Blue there is no Problem...
For example hopefully you know the NBA logo... i zoom the Pixture but the Pixel ist still on the Black background... if i scroll the Pic to its blue side the Pixel does not have any mistake but if i scroll it to the red side there it is on the Black Background one green dot....
And its not the only one down under the back button there is also one which is always green no matter what color my screen has...
Im extremely sad about it, i hope sony has a solution otherwise ill bring back my device and will think twice before i get another sony device again i had untill now nokia lumia devices and never even a small problem

Hey, i have the exact same issue after i updated to .290 but Sony says that if we have 2 stuck/dead pixels thats normal and they will only service/replace the phone only if we get a 3rd or more stuck/dead pixel.
The funny thing about this is that my screen was flawless until i updated to the .290
I guess we're stuck in here....

  • Will warranty cover 1 dead pixel and an incredibly annoying screen flicker?

    Problems:
    1) I have 1 dead pixel on my iPod Touch and it's very annoying as it sticks out because the entire screen is black, and there is just this dot of light
    2) I sometimes use my iPod Touch in the dark, so this means that I keep the contrast at the lowest level, as it being too bright hurts my eyes. The problem with this is that the screen flickers between contrasts slightly and it ends up making me feel dizzy.
I've tried turning the auto brightness option to off to prevent the above, but it doesn't make any difference. I've also tried turning the contrast slightly up too, but still it flickers slightly.
    Any advice?
    Thanks

The warranty will cover a dead pixel and the flickering screen. But before we get drastic, let's do some troubleshooting. Try a hard reset by holding the home and sleep/wake button at the same time until the Apple logo appears on screen. Skip the slide to power off screen.
