Dead pixel on the new iPad.

My iPad 3rd gen has a dead pixel.
I want to know can i fixe this problem or not?

Unfortunately i don't have access to any apple store in the world! because of location and politic problems...
I'll try some 8 hrs videos for solving this.

  • Dead pixel on my new iPad Air

I bought a new iPad air today and I use about 20minutes I found a very dead pixel on the right bottom screen. How disappoint that I saw this thing on my screen

Take it back to the place of purchase or to the Apple Store for a replacement. You have a 14 day return policy (return for refund) in the USA (at least). Take advantage of that policy to get one with a screen that you are happy with.

  • Dead pixel on my new ipad 4

Hi, I have brought ipad 4th generation on December and after a month I started to noticed a dead pixel on left bottom side of the screen. Quite distracted by it :(. Help?

You are still well within your one year warranty, so take it in and ask about it.  If it is a single pixel, they may still replace it depending on just where on the screen the pixel is.
If it is really clearly noticeable, odds are it is actually not one pixel, but several in a cluster, making a replacement even more likely.  Note too that a truly "dead" pixel would be a black area.  If the pixel(s) are stuck on white, red, green or blue, they are stuck pixels, not really dead (as they do light up).  Sometimes, you can get lucky and just sort-of massage the screen around the stuck pixels with slightly harder then normal touch pressure and they may return to normal (however, that fix, even when it works which is rarer these days with thick rigid glass displays, often is only temporary and they get stuck again later).
Take it in to Apple and show them, let them tell you what they can do for you.

  • Does the new iPad use Nanosys QDEF display technology?

I was wondering whether the new iPad uses Nanosys QDEF display technology in its Retina Display?

I don't usually have bad luck, though iPads seem to be the exception.  I had two iPad2 with screen flaws before I gave up and decided to hold out for the iPad 3.  My iPad 3 has the yellow on one side and uneven lighting.  I bought my wife one yesterday because she wanted on in spite of the problems I am having.  Hers is perfect, except for two dead pixels right in the middle of the screen.  But the screen is uniform with no yellow, and there's no overheating or anything like that.
She is considering keeping it in spite of the dead pixels.  Stuff like that doesn't bother her, I guess.

  • Dead pixel on my new iPod Touch 5th Generation. Can I get a replacement?

Today I bought an iPod Touch 16GB Silver. I activated it and after maybe half an hour, I noticed a single dead pixel in the upper left part of the display. I know that with iPhones there's a policy that 1 dead pixel, replacement. iPads have a 3 dead pixels - replacement policy. So I am not sure what is the case with iPods. Here are photos for the proof:

You would need to ask an Apple employee to get a definitive answer.

  • Dead pixels on the 24"?

is it me or is anyone else detecting a trend with dead pixels on the imac 24" models? there seem to be a few other posts here about it. i unfortunately had to ship mine back to apple last week because it had around 5 dead pixels (black) clustered together on the right middle area of the lcd. i ordered a custom config (upgraded to geforce 7600) through the apple store online. i had the wind taken out of my sails when i first booted up and realized that they were dead.

Just in case there is confusion over this matter, a dead pixel and a stuck pixel are two different states. A dead pixel is not repairable. It indicates that the transistor at that pixel position is inoperative. A stuck pixel indicates the pixel is fixed at a particular "on" state and can sometimes be forced to another state through the various techniques others have already mentioned here and in other threads. A dead pixel appears to be a pinpoint of white light (I have one on my new 24") and can only be repaired with a display replacement. Since there is always the possibility of damaging an LCD display when forcefully rubbing, I wanted to make sure folks understood the difference. If the pixel is dead, no need for attempting repair.

  • How comes the Ipad mini isn't Retina Display if it has the same resolution as the New iPad?

How comes the Ipad mini isn't Retina Display if it has the same resolution as the New iPad?

The iPad mini doesn't have the same resolution as the "new iPad".
    iPad 3 & 4 (retina) = 2048x1536 pixels
    iPad 1 & 2 (original) = 1024x768
    iPad mini = 1024x768
Apple likely didn't put a retina screen in the iPad mini to keep cost down and to have an option to upgrade the iPad mini to a retina screen down the road, in a year or two.  It could be however that the pixel density of 2048x768 at 9" poses a problem for the viewer, in that text and features might be rendered too small or too thin for the average buyer/consumer.

  • PDF rendition on the new iPad

    Hi guys,
I've just had the opportunity to test my folio on the new iPad. First, I'm happily surprise by the quality. Honnestly, it's okay.
I've read a article with the PDF rendition, and here is the behavior:
    - when you arrive on the page, the text looks very "aliased". It really looks like a classic JPEG rendition.
    - then if you pinch/zoom-in just a little bit, you can start seeing the PDF. The text is rendered and it looks perfect.
I guess that it's the classic behavior of the viewer. First, it displays a JPEG and then if you zoom-in, it's using the PDF. I guess that it's for optimization reasons, smooth transitions, etc...
Can we imagine a new behavior ?
    - the reader opens a new page, and sees the JPEG.
    - once the page loaded, the DPS viewer starts rendering the PDF with high-definition text
    - if the user taps the screen (to move to the next page for instance), then the reader displays the JPEG again.
    Thanks

We have been testing on iPad3 using an IPA 2048 viewer
    The test folio comprises:
Existing InDesign document that has been set to new size of 2048 deep.
All content has been scaled up to this new size
Rescaled images are now half the effective pixel value. For the next live issue they would be to the iPad3 resolution.
Folio has been exported in PDF format.
As yet there is no Adobe iPad Viewer to test our hires mag only this laborious sideloading method where single articles can be viewed but not the mag as a whole (folios have to be located in a hidden Temp folder). As the desktop viewer doesn’t display PDF folios as a workflow it is impossible.
Although the text looks great on iPad3, rext within interactive features (like the sliders) doesn’t zoom in high quality.
Also on pages with full page pan/zoom images moving to next page difficult.
We need a new Content Viewer and we need it fast! We want to be able to boast that our next issue (Photographers i Magazine) has been built from the ground up to support retina display.

  • Doubts with the renditions for the new ipad and ipad 1 and 2.

    Hi,
I will start doing a layout for a publication with two renditions (for Ipad1 and 2, and for the new ipad).
    I have read the document
"Best practices for using Adobe DPS to publish to the new iphone"
    http://blogs.adobe.com/digitalpublishing/files/2012/03/DPS_iPad3_bestp ractice.pdf
It recommended creating an Indesign document of 1024x768 pixels and working with images in high and low resolution in different layers to then pass them to Folio builder for  renditions of 2048 with high ones and 1024 with the low ones.
I just worry about making two versions of the named "pass-through overlays"? (video, image sequence, panorama and pan / zoom).
And what about the slideshows? This content is resampled although you use the PDF image format.
If I'm working on a document of 1024x768, and the states of object include text, will be pixelated when fit to the 2048 size in the rendition?
I would greatly appreciate a response as soon as possible. I do not have one of the new iPads and am afraid I will not be able to see the result.
    Thank you.

What is your worry about making two versions of the pass-through overlays? As long as you put each version (SD and HD) on a separate layer, and then turn the layer off/on appropriately when adding the InDesign document to the appropriate SD or HD folio you'll be fine.
Similarly, with the resampled overlays, you can if you choose make two versions of the overlay on separate layers, one for SD and one for HD, to ensure the resolution image you want is used for each version. In practice you only really have to do this if you have text in the image somewhere. For straight image content without text you can, generally speaking, put the high-res asset in and let InDesign resample it down to SD for you when adding the InDesign file to the SD folio.

  • How/when will AIR support the new iPad?

I believe that the following will be needed:
    - new placeholders in app xml for the new iPad retina icons
    - a mode that will allow the content done in 'non-retina' iPad to be viewed on new IPad (like the tag that makes iPhone 4 to fill 4 pixels and be used as the iPhone 3)
    - a simulator for all AIR environments, which allows the visualization of the iPad retina display (I guess it will have to have scrollbars for the first time in a mobile phone simulator, since the height is going to be 2048 pixels :-O )
    - anything left on the list?

ok so i guess its 50/50 so far. stretching to big screen works fine but native resolution does not seam to be supported. Meaning i see pixilization on side of the image. if vector is used it should not be a problem (i guess)
for testing i used high res images from here: http://www.zastavki.com/eng/Motocycles/Harley_Davidson/wallpaper-12206-18.htm just to give proper credit to who ever did the image
So for 1st test i used regualr ipad resolution 1024*768 i used HIGH res setings and placed 1280x800 photo obviously it got cut off, some side of the modules pixelazied but oveall model is ok no big digtortion
Next i inputed resolution to be 2048*1536, image now fully fits in, so i would expect it to be rendered nicely on large canvas yet i have same ordrder pixilization (ani alising needed i guess) I may be a bit picky but i consider interface by Apple to be perfect and our image that seams to be well rendering (externally) gets dissorted
    Anyway here is snapshot
Now, lets play with bigger resolution  image... i used 1920x1200 resolution source image and HD canvas. Got image to be displayed almost full screen but sides of the images are not that perfect again.
Now i figure that print screens may not shto artifacts of renderings so i took some photos
As you can see around (5) has sitortion even though there is no on original image. This is photo of last test in HD mode full screen large image.
    Here is another one
So my conclusion so far, is that 1024*768 and 2048*1536 have sa,e result in both case there is some sort of stratching and smoothing applied by player. Logically higher resolution images should look better on "new ipad" but i did not see that in my test.
Maybe i did something wrong but taht what I have so far! Any comments ideas? Lets get this thing to have perefect output... maybe you have other test assets?

  • Dead Pixel on brand new MBP

Hi to all. I just bought my MBP 17" 2.8GHZ no less than a week ago. I love it...except 3 days into using it I discovered a dead pixel! Not just on the side...but in the middle of the screen.
Called the Apple store and they said I have to make an appointment to have the Geniuses look at it to verify that its a dead pixel. I mean I think one can know if the pixel is dead or not.
Anyways, I custom ordered the 7200 RPM HD, so they can't replace it in the store. If they said they had to open it up and replace the screen...is it going to hurt any of the internals or wires? The dead pixel bugs the crap out of me...but I want to make sure that it wont cause more harm by having them replace a screen, as this has to last me a long time.
    Thanks.

Had the same problem. I just called up, explained the problem, they sent me a shipping label, and I sent it back and had a new one inside of a week. New one has no dead pixels that I can tell... yet. Only had it for 2 days. The previous one had a bright red pixel that was so annoying since I restore photos or sit in the terminal with a black background all day.

  • Remotely control the ITunes on Windows 7 64 bit PC with the new IPad

With the latest version of ITunes for both Win7 and the new IPad, I'm only able to use the new IPad to remotely control the ITunes on Windows 7 64 bit PC through wired connection  ( ethernet cable ) to the wireless router. As soon as I connect my PC through wireless connection, the new IPad can not find my libraries.
Is this a known issue or am I missing some settings?
    Thanks,

Are you using the 64 bit installer?

I have a brand new ipad with iOS 6.1.3 and an imac with OS 10.5.8. I cannot update my OS on this machine, but want to sync the new ipad. What can I do?

If it's an Intel Mac, you can upgrade it to Mac OS X 10.6.8.
If it's a PowerPC Mac, you need to use these instructions and/or iTunes Match to put content on the iPad.
