Dead pixels on 2 ipod touches

i've just recieved my second ipod touch after noticing more than 6 dead pixels on the first, well this one looked ok until i saw a line of dead pixels near the edge of the screen, Great, i thought got another one with dead pixels - i dont know whether to register it or not, and put my music on it, or send it back to amazon OR contact apple...
i sent the last one back to amazon but i dont know whether to do that again!
please help!

I wouldn't send it back to Apple, some people on this forum are saying that they send it back to Apple and sometimes they say "Unable to duplicate the issue" and send the same iPT back to you.
I'd send it back to Amazon, get a refund and go to a store and get one. I went through 5 iPTs from Apple Store, all with stuck-pixels, until I gave up getting from one them and getting a perfect one from Best Buy. Do not keep a mal-functioning unit no matter how many you go through. Hope this helps.

  • Dead pixel on my iPod Touch3g 64GB (still under warranty)

i read through the manual, and googled a lot ran some color changing test which said will fix it, but still i got a dead pixel (one single dot on left side of screen, its more prominent in a black background ) will Apple change/replace/repair/refuse my iPod ?

Ok, so i called up the store today, they asked me to contact the service center, the guy from service center said that they will look into it and if its not a water damage they will replace the lcd.(would take 6days) So i want to remove my data from my iPod Touch without deleting the data from my laptop iTunes. and i will also like to unlink my Apple id from iPod touch only(not the iTunes in computer) before i give it for repair. Will restoring it with iTunes help? or is there a different process? (and does restore requires internet?)

  • How can I fix Dead pixels on The iPod 4g

    Hi
I have a Problem. My iPod have on The screen many Dead pixels. How can I fix this because I have My iPod for 2 and a half years so I have no gaurante. Pls help.

You cannot "fix" dead pixels. All you can do is replace the screen. See:
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
You may take your device to an Apple retailer for help or you may call Customer Service and arrange to send your device to Apple:
Apple Store Customer Service at 1-800-676-2775 or visit online Help for more information.

There are third-party firms that do repairs on iDevices, and there are places where you can order parts to DIY if you feel up to the task. Start with Google to search for these.

  • DEAD PIXEL ON MY IPOD!

I GOT MY FIRST IPOD FOR MY BIRTHDAY IN JANUARY FROM MY MOM. MY FIRST IPOD WAS DEFECTED WITH A DEAD-PIXEL ON IT. I WANTED TO GET IT REPLACED FOR A NEW ONE BUT SADYLY I COULDN'T DO THAT. IT'S REALLY HARD TRYIN TO DEAL WITH THE DEAD PIXEL ESPECIALLY WHEN I AM TRYING TO WATCH MY FAVORITE TV SHOW. IT IS REALLY DISTRATING AND REDUCES THE VALUE OF MY PRECIOUS IPOD GREATLY. I NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE ON ANY OF MY ELECTRONIC GADGETS AND IT MAKES ME SAD TO KNOW THAT I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. ANY BODY HAVE ANY IDEAS ON WHAT I CAN DO? MY IPOD IS ONLY 2 AND A HALF MONTHS OLD. I WISH APPLE WOULD FEEL PITTY FOR ME AND HELP ME OUT.

Why? The iPod is clearly under warranty.
You can arrange online service here.

  • Any dead pixels on your Ipod screen?

I had my ipod for 2 weeks now. Only thing that bothers me (when screen show dark background video) that there's a dead pixel on it. Does anyone else has a 'perfect' screen out there?

    Alan---
I have had two iPod's: a 20 gig 3rd generation and currently own a nano! I love the both, and I have not had a dead pixel on either! I am very happy! I haven't heard of problems with dead pixels before...I'm sorry.

  • I have a stuck pixel on my ipod touch..Can i send it to apple?

Hi,my ipod touch has a green stuck pixel in the middle of the screen and its very annoying...Is this under warranty? Can i send it to apple and the can give me a new one?And if i can how can i contact them?THANKS!!@

Well, if it's that annoying to you, I'd go to the nearest apple store, but before you do, you should make reservation to see the genius there. I'm sure they will help you. Just show them where the stuck pixel(s) are.
But honestly, though I don't want to be a downer here, but even if you get it replaced, the possibility that you might get more stuck pixels when you get a new one. But of course, you can also be lucky that you can get a perfect one too. Usually stuck pixels should fix it self (not all the time tho).

  • Will warranty cover 1 dead pixel and an incredibly annoying screen flicker?

    Problems:
    1) I have 1 dead pixel on my iPod Touch and it's very annoying as it sticks out because the entire screen is black, and there is just this dot of light
    2) I sometimes use my iPod Touch in the dark, so this means that I keep the contrast at the lowest level, as it being too bright hurts my eyes. The problem with this is that the screen flickers between contrasts slightly and it ends up making me feel dizzy.
I've tried turning the auto brightness option to off to prevent the above, but it doesn't make any difference. I've also tried turning the contrast slightly up too, but still it flickers slightly.
    Any advice?
    Thanks

The warranty will cover a dead pixel and the flickering screen. But before we get drastic, let's do some troubleshooting. Try a hard reset by holding the home and sleep/wake button at the same time until the Apple logo appears on screen. Skip the slide to power off screen.

  • Dead pixel  or Dirt under screen cover?

    Hello,
I have one (1) dead pixel on my Ipod touch 4 gen screen, it is dead - due to it is always black, and never change it's position/color. Have checked it with some ipod app, changing colors, and "trying to" fix stuck pixels aswell.
After that - I sent Ipod for repairs, but the've sent it back, because thay said they couldn't find any dead pixels (probably checking with software?).
i'm not very keen on it, but it does a little worse, when reading books..
Maybe it is dirt under the cover of the screen, but indeed, I don't like it. So maybe there is a service (at my cost probably) to change the screen cover, due to the fact, that it has some marks on it (bought screen cover protector not so early).
Pictures showing the "spot", not so sharp though...

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to everyone..

If you have an Apple store nearby, I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Yu can show them the problem.
This place will replace it for $80.

  • Apple won't replace dead pixel?

    Hi,
somebody told me that Apple will not replace your iPod if you have a dead pixel, you have to have a few dead pixels for them to replace it.
Does anybody know if this is true, or had any experience with Apple Returns and Repairs with a dead pixel?
Its just that I had a dead pixel on my iPod video, I sent it back to them, and now they sent me an email telling me that they couldn't find anything wrong with it and they are returning my original iPod back to me.
So I don't know whether I should send it back to them again if they are just going to return it to me again.

    Thanks for your help dude.
Think you just saved me some time sending it back again.
Not that it will change anything but I want to moan anyway...
on a tiny iPod screen a dead pixel is alot more obtrusive than one on a large Mac monitor.
I guess I'll have to hope a few more pixels die on me before my warranty expires.

  • Black dots, possibly dead pixels on my brand new Ipod Touch?

I just purchased a new 4th Gen 32gb Ipod touch from Walmart, there were about 4 black dots, possilby dead pixels upon opening, not even a single smudge on the screen yet, but they were there, so I called and exchanged it for another brand new one, to find the same things this time appearing in the center of my screen. Is this a common issure with Ipod Touchs, or is it just bad luck two times in a row/ what can I do about this? Thanks

Not it's not common.  It seems as though you just happened to have 2 bad ones in a row.  I would try returning it again either for a full refund so that you can purchase an iPod Touch elsewhere, or exchanging it for another one.

  • Dead pixel on my new iPod Touch 5th Generation. Can I get a replacement?

Today I bought an iPod Touch 16GB Silver. I activated it and after maybe half an hour, I noticed a single dead pixel in the upper left part of the display. I know that with iPhones there's a policy that 1 dead pixel, replacement. iPads have a 3 dead pixels - replacement policy. So I am not sure what is the case with iPods. Here are photos for the proof:

You would need to ask an Apple employee to get a definitive answer.

  • IPod touch with dead pixels

    Hi,
I bought an iPod touch on apple store, arrived last yesterday.
    It has some pixel dead.
What can I do?? Change with another or it's probably that next has also this defeact?
    Any suggestion??
    Thx,

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Unfortunately you're probably 3 hours away from the nearest Apple Retail Store and depending on how many dead pixels you have will decide whether you will be offered a replacement or not.
I would advise speaking to AppleCare on the phone (count how many dead and how many stuck pixels you have first) and seek their guidance.
    0870 876 0753 (sorry about the 0870 number)
In the end under the UK Sale of Goods Act 1979 you have certain rights as a consumer however the law requires you address these with the retailer not the manufacturer. That said, experience tells us that Apple likes to help whenever possible.

  • Ipod touch 4th gen dead pixels

Guys, my ipod touch 4th gen has a dead pixel lines in the upper portion of my screen and sad thing is its no longer within warranty? does reinstall will fix this or lcd replacement is the way to go?

You can try a restore to factory settings/new iPod. You have nothing to lose.
Replacing the screen may work but it could be a problem with the logic board
