Dead pixels or stuck ones

hello, i just had these common problem of dead or stuck pixels on my iphone, it has like a big line across my iphone just in the middle, i had read about these things on internet and find out that there was a guaranty for these. so i went to my phone operator here where i live at( ecuador, south america) and the told me that there was no guaranty for my iphone and charge my for 6 dollars just to check it. so i`m gonna still try to get the guaranty for my iphone since i just bought it about 6 months ago.
so please if there is anyone that can give me some idea, or if there is any printable document that i can carry to my phone operator to show theme that there is a guaranty for my iphone i will be very grateful.
anyway thak, please help

ohh ok i understand what you are saying, and i think your right, but i just sent mine with my friend, is there any document i can take to show here that there are some problems that can be covered by the guarantee? because every time i go to an authorized apple store in my country they tell me that i need to go to an apple store but there is no apple store here, i just paid 10USD in a kind of apple store and they didn't opened it just look at it and tell me that is my fault... and that there is no guarantee, my iphone doesn't have any scratch or else because i never drop it.... hope i can do something about it.
is really annoying every time i look at it.. i mean i haven't even jailbreak it or do an unauthorized unlock to make it work in here... i brought it directly from a phone company... hahahah i guess i´m gonna stay with my broken iphone... i had exhausted all chances for a guarantee.
thank you anyway for your help
take care and good luck

  • Dead pixel or stuck pixel??

    Hi,
Have just received my Core 2 MacBook, I'll cut straight to the problem.
There's one problem pixel on the display. A little way below and left of the centre of the screen. The pixel is black when on a white, red or blue screen, however the pixel is capable of displaying green, i.e. when I pass a green panel over it, it appears as normal.
Does this indicate that the pixel is dead, or merely stuck? Or to ask my question in another way, will the Pixel Widget (or similar flashy thing ) have any effect on it?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello
I had 6 dead pixels on my macbook pro screen. I was quite annoyed about it.
After a huge research I did find solution. At least you can try it is for free
It is a small Jawa applet which flickers and can unstuck pixels.
I had 6 dead pixels. After using this flickering applet for 10 minutes 4 of the pixels disappeared They were in the center of the screen.
The last two are placed on the top of the screen. On the top dock where the blue apple is. Fortunately there is no way I know about how to hide this dock. Therefor stuck pixels remain. (if you know how to get this flickering applet over entire screen please let me know, the videos on the website did not work for me)
Anyway check this website and good luck, Hope it helps.

  • What is the policy for dead pixel or stuck pixel in apple store?

Hi, i'm the new mac user here. I never use the MAC. I just bought it 2 day ago at apple store. I'm so happy when i carry it back to my home. When I turn on my macbook, I think to get 1 DOT bad pixel on my screen......Oh..Is it my fault??? I just bought it and i didn't do anything....I would like to exchange and try to tell the reason that is not my fault..COZ "THIS ITEM IS DEFECT"...I asked the stuff overthere. If i would to return or exchange, I have to pay 10% off restock fee..coz i had already open box. How's come I have to pay it? How can i know is defect or not if i didn't open the box. I just bought it 2 day agos. Is it fair for me?? I'm so upset with apple a lot. I have to take it back and put in front of me and see that dot in the next 3 year.......or as long as this mac gone.
My question, How u can fix it out for this policy? Do u agree for this policy?
    Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I had to return my first MacBook for a worse defect. They wanted to hit me with the restocking fee. I called the manager of the Apple Store I went to over and spoke with him. I explained the same thing to him that you stated here...Why should I be penalized for something I couldn't have known about with opening the box. I told him that I want to exchange it for a new one and I would not agree to paying the fee for that. However, I will agree to pay the fee to return it and purchase it from another retailer with a better return/exchange policy. He exchanged it on the spot, no fee.
My point...plead your case and explain that you are not going to pay a restocking fee for an exchange. Be professional about it. I'm confident you can make it happen.
You may also want to call Apple first. They can sometimes override the store and direct them to exchange it for you.

  • 16gb iPhone, 2x exchange experience due to dead pixels :(

I got 8gb iphone 12days ago from at&t store and found out 16g one was released 10 days after the purchase.
I got it from apple online store with overnight shipping because I asked apple store and they said they don't know when they will get shipment. I wanted to get new iphone and return one right after before 14 day warranty period, so there went my $16 overnight shipping fee. I paid $40 for restocking fee, too.
After turning on new 16GB iphone, I was dissapointed. Even before activation, I could clearly see a very bright spot in the black background, while holding the phone 50cm from my eyes. it was between the center and lower-left edge, closer to the center. it was visible on boot up and even in spring board. It annoyed me too much and with dead pixel testing tool, I could find 1 more big dead pixel and one not so big dead pixel(could barely see unless you look at the screen closely)
So I called apple and they told me to go see a genius in offline store. I made appointment and went there next morning. I just showed him two big dead pixels and he said I can use my warranty to get new one. We activated new phone together and before leaving the store, I connected to dead pixel testing website to see if there's any. I was very unhappy to find that it had 2 dead pixels around the center and a dust stuck in the lcd that appears as black dot on the screen. I showed it to the genius and he said every lcd has dead pixels and he can't get me another one because of those 2 dead pixels and a dust.
He told me the first exchange was just an exception he made. I was unsatisfied, first, because the 8gb phone I returned had absolutely no dead pixels, second, the 16GB I had before was better than this exchange, so I ended up with even worse one after paying $100 for extra storage and $40 for restocking fee. I know friends who have iphone and theirs have no dead pixels. I don't know how often deadpixels appear on iphones but what I knew was my 8gb phone and friends' iphones do not have dead pixels.
Ending up with even worse one, I could not leave the store. He called the manager and manager also said I can't get another exchange. I told her that I would not ask for another one even if next one is not satisfying but she said no. I was just standing there thinking about stuff, I even asked her if I can get the 8gb phone I returned yesterday because it was in perfect condition. She said if it's returned, then it is processed and I can't get it back.
Then she said that I can return this 16g one. I told her that I don't want to spend restocking fee again. She told me I don't need to pay that, contrary to what genius told me before. I just decided to get a refund and buy another one, but I wasn't mean enough to get a refund and buy one from them right after. I went to the other apple store nearby and got one. This time, there was no dead pixels, but just one tiny dust on the right edge on the screen which look like a tiny black dot. I decided to just live with it, because it's on the side and it just looks like other everyday dusts on the glass that I usually get, plus I'm tired.
Are deadpixels common in iphones? How's yours?

While watching a bought television show on my iPhone today I found a "pixel anomaly" as Apple calls it. It's not a dead pixel (black or always white) or stuck (I tried a pixel fixer video) but seems to be a dead sub-pixel (the red, green and blue that makes up a pixel). It appears lighter which makes me believe one of the colors is dead. It's a single messed up pixel but it is in the center of the screen. I'm torn whether or not to press the issue on it considering most pixel policies. I know that Apple is really good most the time with their displays. I'm just wondering their thoughts on a single sub-pixel.
My experiences with the genius bar hasn't been that great so I'm wary of dealing with them.

  • Never opened iPad with dead pixels

I got a iPad 3 the day it came out from best buy. I wasn't unboxed for about a month after being purchased and when I turned it on, there were more than 3 dead pixels. Also one of the led backlights are blue when they should be white.  Is this a manufacturing issue?  Can I go to the genius bar and get a free replacement even though I never bought a warranty and purchased it outside of Canada? Please reply. I need help.

Is this a manufacturing issue? Maybe. Can I go to the genius bar
    Yes.
    and get a free replacement
If it is determined to be a warranty issue, yes.

  • PEOPLE WITH DEAD PIXELS ATTENTION

if you have a dead pixel, i had one and have sent it back, they will fix.
be careful sometimes dead pixels can spread and take over whole screen!!

    Hi
Unfortunately, the only way to fix such issues is a display replacement.
    Please check this Toshiba document:

  • Dead pixel on my Qosmio X300 screen

    Hello
I have a problem that happened today.
My laptop was fine yesterday. I took it up in its bag, Went with it to the college and I switched on on and I found a dead pixel - Not just one tiny one. it is a small one, about 3 x 3 square on
1440 x 900 resolution - on the screen. I don't know how it came or what does cause it in first place ?
I tried to press on it gently many times and then, it was moved to another place. I did that again and It was moved again. I try now, but with no avail. I am really annoyed because I am not buying a quality laptop for such defects, although there is a range of maximum 8 pixel defect that should happened so I am eligible to change the screen. The problem it it annoys me. And I can't find a way to fix it. My laptop is just 7 months old. It is a Qosmio X300-158.
    What could I do ?
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for your reply.
I will try to visit them in the nearest time. Well in my case, if I considered that that is not dust and these are dead pixels, then there are 16 pixels of them. I counted them one by one, which is enough to entitle me to replace that monitor. However, I won't complicate things. There is also another problem that I can't leave my laptop for more than 1 day. All my work, designs and assignment are in it. I hope that can be fixed in less than 1 day.
I think that of it is dust, that shall not take more than 2 hours to fix it, but who knows. I really need to take to them first. !

  • Problems with stuck/dead pixels, battery life, ICS, and other problems

    Stuck/Dead Pixels:
I bought my Droid Razr at around the 21st of December last year. On or around Christmas, I found a bright red pixel on the very bottom of my screen. Unlucky for me, I was leaving for Florida on Christmas Night. I got back on December 31st. Sometime in the first week of this year, I visited my verizon store and told the customer service lady that I had a dead pixel on my screen and had just bought it. But, she told me that she needed the manager to fix this and there was no manager there. For the next week I was busy with school and sports etc and was not able to go back to the store. It was now past my 14 day return period. So I decided, its only one pixel, most people won't notice it anyway. So here I am 5 months later, just starting to discover more pixels dying on my screen. I now have the one bright red one, two light blue ones, and one dark red. I have no idea what the return policy is on defective phones, and the verizon site is designed so that you can't find anything. And an FYI, I have tried stuck pixel removers and other apps, which  haven't been successful.
    Battery Life:
I have also been finding more problems with my phone. The battery life is terrible when 4G and even 3G are on. I actually see no difference in battery consumption between 3G/4G.  My battery dies  about 4-5X faster when data is turned on, compared to using no data. I know it isn't because of the apps I installed since when I use WiFi, the battery is alright. I also make sure that my RAM isn't above 400MB, so that the processor doesn't use a lot of battery. I feel like I completely wasted my money buying the Razr. Mainly because of the fact that the Razr Maxx was announced two weeks later, which has about 80% more battery. Not only this, but I've seen the Razr selling for only ONE PENNY on amazon over the past month and it still is. I payed $300 on my Razr.
    Ice Cream Sandwich:
After these major problems comes another one, that I bet all Razr and Razr Maxx customers are still thinking about. When will I get Ice Cream Sandwich? It is very disappointing when you are told that you will be getting an upgrade in early 2012, and are still wondering where your upgrade is 5 full months in. From what I understand, we won't see an upgrade until the end of June, since Motorola has posted on their website that "rollouts" would begin in the second quarter. Even if they release it by the end of June, when will it get to your phone? Maybe another week or two for some people. This is another thing that I feel I wasted my money on. My brother told me to get the Nexus because of ICS, but I trusted Motorola that they would upgrade my phone in a timely manner. WRONG.
    Phone Freezing:
One more problem that I've had is that the phone will freeze. Usually you only need to turn the screen off and on, but once in a while, you have to completely reboot your phone. When I was coming back from Florida, right as I was about to get home, my phone completely froze. I was about to go return it, but after about 15-20 minutes, it became unfrozen.
    Motion Sensor not functioning:
Another problem, an annoying one, is that sometimes the motion sensor that controls portrait and landscape mode will just stop working. Some of the games I play are completely dependent on the motion sensor. It is very embarrassing  when you are trying to show off to an iPhone friend and major components of your phone aren't working. They always tell me "why didn't you get an iPhone?". And I really just wanted to have a phone that didn't look like everyone else's, but I guess that comes at a cost. When the motion sensor stops working, I have to shut down my phone and restart, which takes a couple minutes.
    Problems with camera:
My last problem would be with the camera. Sometimes if you bring the camera close to something, like a barcode, it will keep trying to focus, but never will. Another problem is photo quality in low light situations. It seems like the camera can't focus because it goes from being very dark into being bright because of the flash. I doubt this can be fixed because it's hardware, but a potential fix could be having the option to keep the LED light on during picture mode, that way the camera will be able to focus correctly.
    In Conclusion:
I really just want someone to tell me how to return my phone for a new one, due to the dead pixels. I also wish I could be upgraded to the Razr Maxx because of the poor battery life on the Razr, but from what other people are saying, that probably won't happen. And finally, if anyone has more info about Ice Cream Sandwich, that would be awesome.

Well since it's a Manufacturing Error it should Fall under your Warranty if you got one with your Razr. You know you can Call C.S. an they can Assist you with the Matter on it.. Just remember to have another phone so they can Trouble shoot the One that is Experiencing the Issue an when you talk to them go over thing. An they should send you C.G.A.N unless they request you to send it in before you get anther one. If you feel Better going to the Store try that. And Good Luck..

  • Not a dead pixel.....but actually something stuck under the screen

I just got home from the Apple Store where they swapped out my iPhone because on some phone calls there would be a crackling sound like the earpiece in the phone was blown or something. I got home and was getting it set up and on white screens a see a little dark dot. I thought it might be a dead pixel but when you turn it off and look at the screen and turn it just right you can actually see something underneath the glass. I don't want to be a pain but this is really going to bug me. Should I take it back again?

Yes I have had this problem
The first phone I had, had a "stuck" pixel (it was always whiteish/blueish/greenish on any black/dark background). It was only one pixel but they exchanged it.
The next had another bad pixel and a piece of lint or something...they exchanged it again, though this took some arguing and second opinions. Finally I found the manager who agreed with me unlike the guy at the "genius" bar.
This one AGAIN had Many pieces of noticeable debris. They exchanged this one right away, no questions.
Now I'm on my 4th phone haha and it has Several "stuck" pixels. Around 5 or 6 actually noticeable ones. Its really driving me nuts. I want to have a phone with a good screen and have all this exchanging nonsense to be over. It also has another piece of dust you can see on white screens and when the phone is off.
I brought it in and they said to give it a few weeks and see if it gets better or worse. I said okay and left. It's just too upsetting for me. The thing was over 600 bucks. I'm going to another apple store tomorrow. Hopefully they can fix or replace it with one I can examine before I leave.
Did they replace yours with a good one?

  • Stuck or Dead pixel?

I recently got a 32GB iPhone 4 from my cell phone provider for free (long story).  When I turned it one, I noticed a white dot on my screen, it's always there, in the same place, but only clearly visible when it is over a darker colour.  I did some research and seems that since it is always the same colour it is stuck, not dead and it will go away after a bit of time but I wanted to make sure.  It's small, about the size of a pinprick but annoying.  I can't upload a picture for you since it is on the screen and screenshots don't pick it up.
I hope this is understandable, please let me know.

The best method to find dead/stuck pixels is to use whole screen primary colors and black. If you have one, you will probably have to learn to live with it.
Some people say that you can "massage" them back to life. My opinion is that is urban legend. It may have actually worked for one person one time, but as a common practice to restore operation to a dead pixel, well, I wouldn't count on it.

  • Stuck pixel or dead pixel?

I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. I recently purchased a macbook off of craigslist. It was purchased by the original owner in February so is still under warranty. A few days ago I noticed a single dead/stuck pixel in the lower left part of the screen. Not sure if it has always been there and I just didn't notice it or if it just popped up. On a white screen it appears slightly reddish, on a red screen it's not visible, on a blue screen it's not visible, and on a green screen it's black. My first question is whether this would be a stuck pixel or a dead pixel? And secondly, do I have any chance at all of this being fixed under the warranty? I don't have a Apple store in my area or I would take it in there to get looked at, so I'm relying on you guys for support. I've tried using the various "stuck pixel fixer" images on the net that flash colors, nothing seems to work. I tried lightly massaging the pixel, but am not really crazy about putting too much pressure on the display.

That's an odd combination of appearances. If it's not visible on red or blue then I would assume it's a stuck pixel rather than a dead one (which should appear 'off'/black on every background colour), although it should only disappear in sympathy with the colour on which it is stuck (i.e. either red or blue, not both).
You can phone Applecare and ask them about it, but I think you'll find they'll only do something about it if you have a certain number of 'pixel anomalies'.
    See here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1721?viewlocale=en_US
    Best of luck with it.

  • Macbook Stuck/dead Pixel Help

hey i just bought my macbook 2 days ago, and now i notice 2 pixel are dead or stuck, i cant really tell. one of them are light blue colour on top when background is white. and the other one is yellow over white background.
Can anyone please tell me what should i do ?? iam not to sure, iam worries that this is dead pixel that cant be fixed >.<
    thanks for ur concern
    regards
    Erwin.

Those are stuck pixels from the sound of it. If they were dead, well you wouldn't be seeing any color other than black and you wouldn't be able to do a thing. Now with stuck pixels you can supposedly fix these some of the time, but don't quote me on that as I've never have had to deal with them. That said there appears to be a widget you can down that might fix your problem....

I think its worth a shot anyways.....

  • One Dead Pixel - Can't Take It!

    Hey all,
I got a dead pixel/or just stuck pixel, and no matter what pixel tests I put it through, the pixel cannot recover. If I got to trade it in for another iPhone 3G, (bought 3 weeks ago), can they change the color for me as well? Or no?
Everyone has the **** black one, and rather have white.

You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
Its not the fault of the guy/gal behind the desk that a pixel failed, or that you chose the wrong color the first time around.

  • ONE DEAD PIXEL ACCEPTABLE?

i have one dead pixel in my right top corner you cant stee unless everything around there is lit up, but when it gets dark like in the sliding menu you can see it...is this acceptable and will it get worse as in more dead pixels later on?
    Solved!

It's always annoying, but I am not sure of Nokias policy on dead pixles. I had dead pixles on my computers before, but never on a cellphone. I had one on the Dell laptop I am using now. It was dead from the beginning, but after 2 months it dissapeard. Now the screen is perfect.
I have read a lot of posts on other forums about pixle massage and programs to get the pixle back, but as I have understood, it's a difference between a dead pixle and a stuck pixle.
If nobody can answer you on this, I would use the contact link and ask about it, or take it to a carepoint. But as i mentioned, I don't know what the policy is on that issue is.
Personal opinion - the screen is small and it's annoying. It should be covered by warranty and get replaced.
