Dead session with dead processes

Hi Technet guys
we have sometimes users which cannot be logged off or the processes be killed. The users are connected to the Windows Terminal Server (W2K8R2) latest patches installed. They connecting with Citrix XenApp 6.5 to the Windows Terminal Server. We did find out
that one user is switching between networks and one of the networks is behind a proxy. So when the user switches the network and tries to connect to his session again. His session like dead. It's not possible with Administrator rights to logoff this user or
kill his open processes.
The only way to get rid of this problem is to reboot the server. But this is not a good solution
Does anyone of you have expirienced similiar issue, may even just with RDP?

Hi Reto,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Here I can suggest you to enable the group policy setting and check the result. For this you can enable following policy.
Set time limit for active but idle Remote Desktop Services sessions
Terminate session when time limits are reached
This can be found on following path.
Computer Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits
User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Session Time Limits
More information.
Configure Timeout and Reconnection Settings for Remote Desktop Services Sessions

Hope it helps!
Thanks.

  • Forms session 125,296 aborted: unable to communicate with runtime process

    Forms 10g version on Hp unix.
    We have about 400 users are using 10g web based application. Our users get the error "There was a failure in the forms server during startup. This could happen due to invalid configuration.
    Please look into the web-server log file for details."
    web-server log file it says
    'Forms session <125,296> aborted: unable to communicate with runtime process.'
    It is not reproducible error. But it happens to everybody at random time/form/database which makes big impact on our business.
    We are in the edge of backing out of oracle forms due to this error
    Any help will be appreciated

    Would be a really bummer if you backed out of Forms and found the problems were because of network glitches ;o)
    You need to do a bit a scratching around to get more details on this.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/pdf/10g/troubleshooting_fls.pdf would be a good place to start. Chances are, network glitches are cause a disconnects but you need to confirm this by using the techniques described in this paper.

  • LIBOVD ERROR  - "validateContextToken: workflow session was not found for given context. Create a new workflow session with token"

    Hello everyone,
    I have the following scenario:
    We're using "Oracle SOA Suite 11g 11.1.1.7.0" (Patched w/ 17893896) mainly for a BPM/Human workflow composite. Former, we were having the error bellow:
    <Mar 16, 2015 1:13:03 PM BRT> <Error> <oracle.soa.services.workflow.query> <BEA-000000> <<.> Verification Service cannot resolve user identity. User weblogic cannot be found in the identity repository. Workflow Context token cannot be null in request.
    ORABPEL-30511
    When that error ocurred, no one was able to use the system (BPM/Human Workflow).
    I opened an SR, and after some analysis from the support, it recommended me to set up "virtualize=true" in EM, and restarting the domain. Then it started logging the following:
    connection to ldap://[10.200.10.57]:7001 as cn=Admin.
    javax.naming.NamingException: No LDAP connection available to process request for DN: cn=Admin.
    Looking up on support KB, I found this note Doc ID 1545680.1 and increased from Max size of Connection Pool 10 to 200. That did work successfully! Problem now is that the <SERVER>_diagnostic.log is being filled up with the following error:
    [2015-03-31T16:03:46.421-03:00] [soa_server2] [ERROR] [] [oracle.soa.services.workflow.verification] [tid: [ACTIVE].ExecuteThread: '19' for queue: 'weblogic.kernel.Default (self-tuning)'] [userId: <anonymous>] [ecid: e0194e38aa6c9a2f:39fc1ff9:14c5def5247:-8000-00000000000a5653,0] [APP: soa-infra] <.>    validateContextToken: workflow session was not found for given context. Create a new workflow session with token=51490173-e3d0-41dd-ae99-983915aa8454;;G;;Z+P7Oe9ABnoTUQD9ECryEW2l0/8yRcqPDyZsOWBCuzMmRgA3Qsj601TxmWQ87z2MjuwW5AH+KzgjIwkPmhJFdpc1FrE6Y/MrN1bxIDHJWu2/zP3iSNwKD07hRrh/U37Ea0TvaQyuaHJIog9y3Ptmzw==
    One important point is that we're using only the embedded WLS ldap. So I am not 100% sure if we should be using the virtualize flag=true, once all docs I read point out that this should be done when using multi-ldap providers.
    Also, I only got this error in the "diagnostic.log".
    Although, no user has complained about using the system, I really want to work it out. Anyone has any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

    I have moved your thread from Certification to SOA Suite to get proper assistance.
    Thanks,

  • Linking Oracle Process id with windows process id

    hi,
    i am using oracle database 11g(11.1.0.6.0) in windows 2003 server. i have an oracle session established through an application server. i have found the process id of that session by comparing the v$session and v$process tables. Now i want to compare this process id with windows os process id. i have checked the process id in the windows task manager of the application server from where the oracle session is established,but the process id is not present. Even i checked in the windows task manager of the database server where the database is installed, even there i am not able to find this session process id. Can anyone help me out in this????
    Regards,
    007

    Sybrand has pointed you in the right direction - each session is a thread in the database instance's process. That makes it a little difficult to see the performance characteristics of a single session from the operating system. However, with WMI calls (WQL) from the operating system, you can associate the threads in the database instance's process with the actual resource usage of that thread, and then using regular SQL statements drive back into V$SESSION for additional information. No.  My frustration with the problem just led me to begin the process convert all my email to a gmail client.  However, after some time all my mail with att/yahoo has been coming through as before.  Go figure.  Still will convert to gmail.

  • Kill inactive sessions with no programs run it

    hi all,
    my database is 10gR2 with developer 6i
    the database have huge number of sessions with no programs running it like oracle form, some of those sessions stack in v$session table due to power failure.
    restart server solve the problem, but it is not efficient.
    is there any method to fined witch of database sessions is actually connect to the database and have application running it ?

    This script will give you the complete detail of Session , PID and Program which is running in dagtabase level.
    You can include the "STATUS" coloumn from v$session to get user status.
    Script is like this:
    set echo off;
    set termout on;
    set linesize 80;
    set pagesize 60;
    set newpage 0;
    select
    rpad(c.name||':',11)||rpad(' current logons='||
    (to_number(b.sessions_current)),20)||'cumulative logons='||
    rpad(substr(a.value,1,10),10)||'highwater mark='||
    b.sessions_highwater Information
    from
    v$sysstat a,
    v$license b,
    v$database c
    where
    a.name = 'logons cumulative'
    ttitle "dbname Database|UNIX/Oracle Sessions";
    set heading off;
    select 'Sessions on database '||substr(name,1,8) from v$database;
    set heading on;
    select
    substr(a.spid,1,9) pid,
    substr(b.sid,1,5) sid,
    substr(b.serial#,1,5) ser#,
    substr(b.machine,1,6) box,
    substr(b.username,1,10) username,
    -- b.server,
    substr(b.osuser,1,8) os_user,
    substr(b.program,1,30) program
    from v$session b, v$process a
    where
    b.paddr = a.addr
    and type='USER'
    order by spid;
    ttitle off;
    spool off;
    Save this script with your desire name and run in Database.

  • Old Oracle Session with Tomcat is not kiiling automatically

    Hi,
    I am facing a problem of increasing inactive oracle sessions with tomcat, Old Oracle sessions with tomcat are visible with new one.
    if somebaody did not restarted tomcat gracefully, then does Oracle keep the session connected or is there any way that whenever any one restarted tomcat abnormally, Oracle session can be killed.
    I had restart the database to kill session.

    Could you please tell me that where do i set this parameter in parameter file or sql net file and what is the recommended value, do you have any document on this.
    Another thing tomcat is in other server machine and my database is in different server machine, killing process in tomcat server machine manually may not kill linux process on oracle database machine and therefore oracle sessions are still there.
    Is it possible?

  • Issues with parallel processing in Logical Database PCH and PNP

    Has anyone encountered issues when executing programs in parallel  that utilizes the logical database PCH or PNP?
    Our scenario is the following:
    We having have 55 concurrent jobs that execute a program that use the logical database PCH at a given time.  We load the the PCHINDEX table with the code below.
          wa_pchindex-plvar = '01'.
          wa_pchindex-otype = 'S'.
          wa_pchindex-objid_low = index_objid.
          APPEND wa_pchindex TO pchindex.
    We have seen instances where when the program is executed in parallel, with each process having its own range of positions id's, that some positions are dropped or some are added that is outside the range of the given process.
    For example:
    process 1 has a range of positions ID's 1-10
    process 2 has a range of positions ID's 11-20
    process 3 has a range of positions ID's 21-30
    Process 3 drops position 25 and adds position 46.
    Has anyone faced a similar issue?
    Thanks for your help.
    Best Regards,
    Duke

    Hi,
    first of all, you should read [Using Parallel Execution|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14223/usingpe.htm#DWHSG024] in documentation for your version - almost all of these topics are covered there.
    1. According to my server specification how much DOP i can specify.It depends not only on number of CPU. More important factors are settings of PARALLEL_MAX_SERVERS and PARALLEL_ADAPTIVE_MULTI_USER.
    2. Which option for Setting Parallel is good - Using the 'alter table A parallel 4' or passing the parallel hints in the sql statementsIt depends on your application. When setting PARALLEL on a table, all SQL dealing with that table would be considered for parallel execution. So if it is normal for your app to use parallel access to that table, it's OK. If you want to use PX on a limited set of SQL, then hints or session settings are more appropriate.
    3. We have a batch processing jobs which are loading data into the tables from flat files (24*7) using sql loader. is it possible to parallel this operation and any negative effect if enabled parallel.Yes, refer to documentation.
    4. Query or DML - which one will be perform best with parallel option.Both may take advantages of using PX (with some restrictions to Parallel DML) and both may run slower than non-PX versions.
    5. What are the negative issue if parallel option is enabled.1) Object checkpoint happens before starting parallel FTS (true for >=10gR2, before that version tablespace checkpoint was used)
    2) More CPU and memory resources are used with PX - it may be both benefit and an issue, especially with concurrent PX.
    6. what are the things to be taken care while enabling the parallel option.Read the documentation - it contains almost all you need to know. Since you are using RAC, you sould not forget about method of PX slaves load balancing between nodes. If you are on 10g, refer to INSTANSE_GROUPS/PARALLEL_INSTANCE_GROUPS parameters, if you are using 11g then properly configure services.

  • Monitoring Users session with specific profiles

    Hi,
    I created a specific profile that terminates a session with idle time 4 minutes. I would like to know how to monitoring which sessions are been disconnected by Oracle.
    Thanks in advance,

    enable auditing by using
    alter system set audit_trail = db scope=spfile
    and bounce
    Then issue audit connect
    The dba_audit_session view will have the reason why the process was disconnected.

  • Very slow deployment with in-process=true

    Hi,
    I'm in the process of porting an enterprise application (packaged into a single EAR file) from JBoss to OC4J.
    For now, the biggest part of the application (which is still under development) is an ejb-module with about 66 entity beans with a total of 243 CMR- and 536 CMP-fields. The remaining parts are a few session beans and a few simple web-applications.
    One of the problems I'm experiencing during porting the application is the very slow deployment of enterprise beans on oc4j, especially when having set in-process=true.
    Deployment on JBoss 3.2.4RC1 takes 28 seconds.
    Deployment on OC4J 9.0.4.0.0 takes 20 minutes (cpu-time!).
    My deployment platform is an Intel P4, 1.4 GHz, 1024 MB RAM, MS Windows NT 4.0, Sun J2SDK 1.4.2_04.
    OC4J is started with "%JAVA_HOME%\bin\java.exe -verbose:gc -Xms192m -Xmx256m -DassociateUsingThirdTable=true -jar oc4j.jar -userThreads -verbosity 10". OC4J is configured to perform in-process compilation.
    So far my investigation shows that OC4J is spending a few minutes probably for analyzing and generating wrapper/proxy classes. Then it starts the in-process compilation which accounts for the bigger part of the 20 minutes.
    During that time, "-verbose:gc" shows that it's spending only the usual amount of a few milliseconds per second for GC.
    I also had a look at the generated wrapper/proxy classes. The size of some files is intimidating. The biggest one has a size of 1,566,791 bytes (31,930 lines) (- seems that it consists of 95% duplicated code ;-)). This generated source file belongs to a entity beans that I wouldn't describe as being really huge: it has 25 CMP- and 18 CMR fields.
    But this is probably not the cause for the extreme slow-down:
    Another test with in-process=false was much faster (when compared to the former test): about 2 minutes 30 seconds.
    But actually this is still very slow.
    Is this a known problem or am I the only one experiencing slow deployments?
    How can I speed up deployment times?
    Suggestions greatly appreciated.

    No TAR yet as this is currently one of the minor problems with OC4J. :-( I'll file a TAR after we've solved some more pressuring problems here.
    For now I use in-process=false. Which is still slow, but at least I see can see the reason for this: it simply takes javac some time to compile the generated junk of java sources.
