Deadline tomorrow!
help, i'm in the middle of work which dues tomorrow.
a message popped up saying to update my Airport, i agreed and at some point, i lost interneet via airprt(express).
my firmware says version 6.2
what should i do?
I've restarted Airport express n all.
could it but due to update? i'm not Airport normal card, not extreme.
help help.
Reinstall firmware version 6.1.1 from:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airportexpressfirmware611formacosx.html
If your problems are the result of installing this recent Airport update:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/airportupdate2005001.html
...then the above will likely not solve the problem - and I don't know of a solution.
If you have a deadline and need internet access, just cable your Mac directly to the cable/DSL modem for now. And leave the troubleshooting for another day.

I've tried everything! I can't get fcpx to load my project. can anyone make sense of this error report?
It will open other projects. It opens this one for a few seconds then crashes. I have a deadline tomorrow!
I've ran every Digital Rebellion program that comes in the Maintinance Tools bundle.
I've reinstalled the program.
I've tried booting from backups.
I've deleted corrupted clips.
Please help!
Thank you so much in advance!

"Could not complete your request because of a program error" - Photoshop 7, XP platform
I have searched the FAQs and forums and still haven't been able to resolve this issue. Any time I try to copy-and-paste text from another program (Word or Internet Explorer, for example) into my Photoshop file, I get problems with the Type tool, and then I am unable to save my file. If I continue to fight with it, eventually I get a "Photoshop has encountered a problem and needs to close" message.
I have done the following to try to fix this, but to no avail:
1. Reset all tools, including the Type tool
2. Removed all preferences using Ctrl+Shift+Alt upon booting up Photoshop
3. Uninstalled Photoshop and re-installed it
4. Ran Fix-It Utilities 10 registry repair and cleanup
5. Re-booted my computer more times than I can count
I even tried "jumping" my file over to ImageReady to see if I could possibly sneak around Photoshop and still Save the file. However, when I tried that, I got "Fail to transfer the document to ImageReady" and "Unable to receive changes from Photoshop."
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have two deadlines tomorrow for customers and don't know how I can deliver when Photoshop keeps acting up like this.

Updated to 2014 and now .MOV DSLR files are unsupported
Hi dudes - I've been working on a commercial at work with Premiere CC 2014 and have a 2nd proof deadline tomorrow morning so I've taken a copy home with me. I had to update CC to open the file and suddenly I can't re-link any of the DSLR footage as it says it's unsupported, dosn't show in media browser and can't import either. A-cam stuff was all F55 and links fine. Oh and also I can still open all file formats including .MOV inside of CS6 (but obviously not the project file). Can anyone offer any advice or has anyone had a similar issue? Totally screwed if this doesn't work (also got another Premiere problem on another thread so this makes things even worse). I'm a big lover of Adobe products but it seems like every other week I have issues with Creative Cloud in one way or another and I dare not add up the amount of money I've lost over the last couple years due to virtual cock-ups. Adobe customer services rarely seem capable of solving any issues (or at least none of the people via the chat function - I can never get through on the phone) so I'm turning to the wonderful community You would be a god to me if you can help me out of this mess
ps. just for added funzies, I was going to uninstall and re-install via the Creative Cloud application and after uninstalling it still says "up to date" and hasn't reverted to being installable again. Great
Pps. Ha! Even better... it turns out you can't add "2014" as a tag in the discussion tags. Winning today
Thanks in advance dudes!

Imac 5k stuck on apple logo screen after latest update
Hi - i have a magazine deadline and a major issue:
i've been having loads of kernel panics (see thread here Brand new imac 5k kernel panic) and having seen there was a new update figured it would be worth installing it to see if it fixed them as nothing so far suggested by apple support has helped. Once it had downloaded the update the OS said it needed to reboot to finish installation. It got half way through the loading bar on the apple logo screen and got stuck. I left it an hour, came back still nothing. Left it another hour and it was still just stuck half way. I rebooted into diagnostics and ran that and it said everything was fine but further reboots just get as far as halfway through the bar. I'm now stuck as the computer was only a month or so old and i hadn't yet set up back up on it. I was still in the process of getting everything configured and over from my old machine. Problem is I have a bunch of photos that were transferred on to it that i shot 2 weeks ago and I need them for a magazine deadline tomorrow and apple support options could only call me back on Thursday - if anyone can suggest anything i will be VERY grateful. I've already tried SMC and PRAM resets.I did that, a fresh OS install and it worked for about 4 hours then i got a kernel panic

Help With Creating 'Hi-Res' PDF Document?
Hi
I am needing to meet a deadline tomorrow in supplying a magazine publication with a trade advert for my business.
The magazine editor tells me he requires my advert to be emailed to him in 'HI-RES PDF FORMAT, 300 DPI'.
Currently, my advert is a simple MICROSOFT WORD document, which is printed out for flyers etc. It is acceptable quality for my needs. I have very little knowledge at this point of making my advert into 'HI-RES PDF'.
However, I do have access to ADOBE ACROBAT V9.0 PRO EXTENDED, and understand I can use this to create the document that is required?
My main questions at this point are, where do I begin researching how to turn my current WORD document into the '300 DPI HI-RES' picture that is required? What is the process involved? How do I go about 'creating a hi-res picture' from my humble Word document?
What I don't understand at the moment is, the difference between me emailing the magazine my Word document in its current .doc form, and needing to involve Adobe Acrobat to achieve 'best quality' HI-RES/300 DPI. Do I need to make my Word document into PDF to improve its quality?
Totally new to this, would greatly appreciate any help/advice.I wish I had more time to spend getting up to speed on these issues, unfortunately the deadline looms tomorrow [new business, urgent last minute advertising and all that]. I expect to have a genuine hi-res advert ready for next month's issue - in the meanime, Aandi, how would you recommend I best go about things from what I have, or can modify/recreate fairly quickly?
Guidlines given by magazine publication: 'Hi-Res PDF Document, 300DPI, 12cm W x 9cm H
OK, my advert in Word is mostly black text on a white background, and there is a colour picture in it [to help illustrate my services]. So the picture is not 300dpi hi-res, I accept that, and I accept it will not be printed in the magazine necessarily any better than I can manage from my inkjet printer.
But considering the magazine is a glossy, hi-res publication, surely the picture will not be printed in any WORSE quality than I can get out of my cheap £80 printer? If I know what to expect, I know how I can play around with the current lo-res images I have at my disposal.
There are a number of options I currently have to replace the picture in my advert, and some have a deliberately 'hazy' look to them already - I am thinking perhaps pictures with this kind of styling which are far from 300 DPI anyway would be a better choice? At least in the printing reproduction, the degrasion would not look like a cheap 'error' but rather simply the style of the picture?
And what about my Word TEXT? Forgetting pictures for the moment, will the all important text parts of my advert reproduce as good as I can get them in 'best' quality from my printer?
What I am aiming for this evening, is once I have decided upon the kind of lo-res picture [if any] I am including in my advert, allowing for degrasion because it is not 300 DPI, can I then concentrate on the TEXT information and still work on this within MICROSOFT WORD before submitting it to Adobe Acrobat and producing the PDF document? I do not have to do anything special to the text at any point to make it 'high resolution'?
Thank you again for your help so far. -
I have a weird problem that I have never experienced before.
I'm using Captivate 4. I have back and next buttons configured for
the user to advance the slide. Both buttons have "pause after". I
have various text fade in/out coming up on the screens, but none of
them are working. I made sure that the buttons "pause after" is set
after the last text box fade in.
I also tried removing the buttons on one screen to see if
that was the issue. The text still will not appear. It appears when
clicking "preview this slide only". When I try "preview next 5
slides" or publishing, the text will not appear.
I cannot for the life of me figure this out. I have a
deadline tomorrow though and this is extremely urgent. Please
help!Hi again
I'm happy you got it sorted!
Before seeing your reply it dawned on me that perhaps there
was something in front of the captions. Possibly an image? I know
Captivate 3 had issues I saw myself quite often where the stacking
order wasn't respected and would rearrange things sometimes and
cover a caption with another object. It took some futzing to coax
it to the front.
This would seem to align with your report that things seem
okay after reinserting captions. This is because new objects are
placed at the top of the stacking order (or in front of other
objects).

Please Help, Motion Editor Easing Problem
Hi,
I'm having trouble with the Motion Editor. I'm working on a Flash banner in AS2, publishing to Flash Player 8.
I have a movie clip whose timeline I right-click and select 'Create Motion Tween.' I move position the playhead later in the timeline and move the movie clip down about 200 pixels. I add a Spring easing and assign it to the movie clip's Y property. Something weird happens- the animation jumps down to the next Y keyframe without springing. The green dashed easing line in the track does not look like the spring easing formula either. It looks like the formula for the spring is being clipped...the whole wave shape seems to be above the track (if that makes sense)...see image, below. I've reduced the spring amount to 1 and to 0...but even that does not help...it does not restore the spring. This is for a deadline tomorrow, so if you can, PLEASE please help.In answer to my own problem and for anyone else's future reference -
having flip4mac or Divx can corrupt the codec is compressor and corrupt your M2v files when you bring them into DVDSP.
You can go into your Quicktime Folder in your HD Library and remove the Flip4mac and/or Divx components (But keep them somewhere else if you intend to use these software applications again). -
I can't get sound to work once I export my indesign file to pdf
I am tyring to get a sound to play on a project I am working on, I've tried making a button to play an mp3 and I've tried converting the file using the Adobe Media Encoder to f4v and I've instructed it to play on page load and that doesn't work either. I'm at wits end trying this because I have a deadline tomorrow and I've been trying to get this last touch done for around 24 hours. I just need some help!
Are your speakers turned on? Sorry, that's a bit facetious...
I can't help at all here, but I could recommend going over the help file for it, you might find a step you've missed, a link to the online one is here. There are user notes down the bottom too, apparently there are a few issues. -
URGENT: Please Help (error in flash code)
I have a major deadline tomorrow and a problem has arisen. If anyone can take a look at my file and help me it would be greatly appreciated
I was converting artwork to components and assigning interactions. When I went to run the project, it gave me the following error: "Flash Catalyst cannot run the project because of an error in the code. To find the error, switch to the code workspace and look in the Problems Panel."
The error message read, specifically, "identifier 'group6' used more than once."
I wasn't confident enough to start tweaking the code, so I just deleted the interactions and converted the components back to artwork hoping to reverse the problem.
It didn't work.
Unfortunately, I was saving more often than I was "compiling" because FC has been crashing on me with this particular file. As a result, I was saving a file that wouldn't compile and can no longer go back.
HELP! I WILL EMAIL YOU MY FILE!
I think I figured out the problem. I opened up an older file and began the painful process of recreating my work. I reverted a component called "Option Button" to artwork and when I compiled, I got the same error: "identifier 'group6' used more than once" and "identifier 'group7' used more than once." Is this happening when I convert a component back to artwork and it makes mistakes identifying/naming its parts??
I tried reconverting the artwork to a component, thinking that might solve the problem, but it didn't...Hi Sponce,
This is a bug in FC: FC has assigned two different objects to be called "group6". Please email me the file so I can make sure we have this bug filed. To work around it, you just need to figure out which objects have the ID "group6" and delete one of them. This is pretty straightforward: in the problems panel, the errors will have a line #. Find that line # in the file - that tells you where the error is in the code. Now you need to figure out which object that is. You might be able to do this by looking at what it has inside it: if it's a tags inside it, well, then, it's the group with 3 rects. Otherwise, you can do it by position in the file: the code is in reverse z-order, so the last thing in the code is the topmost thing in the layers panel.

Right so all I want is to be able to use Apple Motion on a stable system.
I don't need icloud, photos or any of that bs.
However I keep noticing icloud bugging out in the console, as well as photoagent and all kinds of needless process that slow down when not crash my editing software or even block me out of internet.
And so I sign out of icloud and anything related. But then it gets worst, sandbox, xpc, my whole system gets completely lost and throws identification errors left and right, making Motion super laggy.
Has anyone else noticed that? Could it be possible that Icloud plays such a role in the way processes, including the ones used by pro apps, communicate with each other? Are we in a way forced to give in to icloud (and its load of issues), to be able to edit in a half way decent fashion?
I tried keychain first aid, onyx, digital rebellion, fsck-fy, reset p-ram, smc, nothing gives. We all pretty much now by know that the OS has issues, serious ones (I 'm not the only apparently). I finally mitigated some of my issues (one fix entailed solving a huge mess in my keychains) and haven't slept in 2 days with a deadline tomorrow. Now that I can finally get back to work seriously, I find out that Motion 5 is excruciatingly slow to export, whether from the soft itself or via compressor . Even Motion 3 was a breeze in comparison.(by the way, Compressor offers to distribute batch among several computers, but the feature doesn't apply to projects sent from Motion and fcp, hence a completly useless feature for most workflows). I know that generators and replicators are ram hungry and so I'm resorting to export them one by one with the happy prospect of an additional round of compositing and export). As I speak, a simple circle with a paint stroke superimposed by an ulterior export of the corona emitter sigh....are rendering. and for only 16secs of a 4444 clip on alpha over a stroke outline is taking a good 30mn
This is outrageous. knowing that it is only portion of a clip among a dozen others which need to be delivered all cut up tomorrow, I am basically dead. Needless to say that re-installing everything right now is unthinkable, especially since I'm working on a recent clean install and so who knows what defects I'll end up getting the next time around
If I could use help at this level of catastrophy, it would be some advice on the best quality/time ratio codec for exporting and re-importing 1080 w alpha clips. I'm currently going for 4444 + alpha with same settings as the project but there may be faster. -
Idvd performs better than dvdsp
I have tried authoring a 75 min project using compressor and dvdsp and I get this strange pulsing pixelation in certain shots. I author the same project in idvd, I don't get any pulsing, but in the last 10 minutes of the project, I get pixelation on playback.
I have a deadline tomorrow and I'm ready to throw my new macbookpro out the window. I have made numerous tests, using default settings and custom settings, used various disk brands, and still I can't seem to manage the simple task of authoring a 75 min dvd.
Any suggestions? Has anyone else experienced this pulsing?Hi
Those pulsing shots were made under certain different light condition? Some kind of ambience lighting can make and "pulsating color" effect.
Besides that, what format is your source and what encoding setting did you use in Compressor?

OK, so I finaly upgraded my computer into the mild 21st century, and to my disapointment, I cannot seem to run anything as smoothly as I had thought.
These are the specs for my computer...
ASUS m5a99x EVO motherboard
8 gigs ddr3 1600 ram
NVIDIA 9800gt 1 gig ddr3 gpu
AMD Phenom II x4 B50 Processor at 3.2ghz (IE its an AMD athlon II 450 X3 3.2ghz with its fourth core unlocked (of which i have had no problems with thus far, as it seems to be very stable)
150 gig 7200 sata 2 harddrive (OLD)
200 gig 5400 sata 2 hard drive (OLD AS SH*T)
300ghz portable usb2 hd (7200) (2 years old)
Basicly, I cant seem to run even basic text in after effects faster than 19 FPS.
I've tried to change the resolution to half, and even a fourth, and that didnt work at all, infact it made it run about 1 frame worse.
I tried changing the Open gl texture memory, raising and lowering, but to no avail, Ive changed the ram usage in after effects to use 2 gigs per core, then one gig, then turned off multiframe rendering alltogether, and nothing.
I feel like ive tried everything in my power.
Now the Imacs at my school, they run the program smooth as hell... and they arent that much better, spec wise than my computer.
Even my friends Imac can run it smooth, and he only has an I5 cpu at 2.4ghz, which is fine and my understanding of cpus is that those are better proccessors, but its not that much better, and even still, why would that be neccesary just to run text scrolling accross the screen?
Even more so, why would changing the resolution not have any effect?
What exactly do I need to run after effects smoothly for a basic text scroll at say, 720P?
I need to know what to upgrade, soon I plan to get cs6 and I would like to have a computer that can edit basic HD properly.
What I realy dont get is that I know people with laptops that are running AE smoothly and these are much worse than the specs on my machine, some even with only 4 gigs of ram...
Is there something wrong, do I have some sort of frame limiter thats capping at 19 fps? is there some sort of memory leak?
Any help would be much apreciated.
Now the only thing I can think of thats holding me back is the crappy hard drives, every thing else seems like it should at least run text on after effects at 30 fps.thanks, that at least is enough to get me started, lol I have a deadline tomorrow and have been burning a lot of time on just trying to get this to run smooth.
BTW, I am running the project off of the portable, I switched from the old, but faster harddrive that was sata2 to the portable given I thought that might increase the speed, which it didnt.
what I might do is crack the case and just plug it straight into the computer, though I am hesitant to do so as if I were going to do that, I might as well just purchase a usb 3.0 one and do that so i can get sata 3 out of it, since those cases dont exactly just snap back together.
When I say basic text, I mean layered text, just word after word in order. I honestly dont have any plugins that I know of, (if I had the money for them I would have spent it on a better computer probably) so what I have is what came with the master collection.
And when I say 19 FPS I mean spacebar...
NOW I KNOW, that Im not garunteed 30 fps when running the preview, but when I use the mac, it previews fine... and i just looked up my CPU in comparison to the I5 in the IMAC that I was refering to, and mine is actualy faster according to some benchmarks, granted its not faster than the vast majority of I5s and I7s, but the particular ones in the computers I was refering to, mine is actualy faster over all, so I figure its not a CPU thing (unless its a -our software only works right on INTEL- thing).
Now as far as the 3d camera, yes I am using it, but even when I run the text without a camera function (ie the thing that you have in your comp) or any sort of 3d layering it runs just as slow.
The Audio might be a problem, I used to have a soundcard, but that died about a year ago so I have been using onboard sound (realtek HD something) which truly sucks in comparison to a proper sound card, but I cant imagine the IMACs have anything better, I mean the sound from the Imac kinda sucks alltogether, dosent even have any sort of virtual surround... But a driver issue it could be, realtek is kind of ghetto in that regard.
I will try some of the tips above (the open gl and the preview output and such), and thank you very much.
*EDIT*
OK, so with the preview output, I have computer monitor only? is that what you ment?
*EDIT*
OK, so I did the OpenGL thing, removed it, and for a brief few secconds, it started to run at a mix of 25 to 30 fps, then, when I went to play it again, it was back at 19. -
I purchased & downloaded Photoshop Elements 11. I installed it. Informed me some parts were missing, so I needed to uninstall it & reinstall it. I went to Programs & Features in Windows 7, & did just that. Then it informs me that it could not uninstall it properly. To try again. The program is missing now from Programs & Features. Can't find it anywhere where I can uninstall it. So, I went to Adobe to get it to uninstall. I keep getting this error; "Error 234. Specified Path is Empty" I have done everything! Cannot get it to install or uninstall. The Organizer is opening, but the Editor will not. I can't get anything to print. I have a deadline tomorrow and I cannot get any pictures to print. What am I gonna do? Can anyone please help me?
If you haven't committed to PSE12, yet, then you should be able to download PSE/PRE11 from this website. Be sure to follow the Very Important Instructions to set the Adobe authorization cookie, because the downloads actually come from Adobe:

HDV PLAYOUT DOESN'T WORK.
Hi Guys,
I'm having a bit of trouble printing to tape with an HDV tape, HDV project and a mini Sony Z1.
I captured using the same camera and have been able to edit, but when I go to recapture there is a huge lag between picture and sound any ideas?
When I go to Print to tape command, it takes forever processing the sequence, about 25 mins for a 3 min seq. It says "conforming HDV video" I haven't come across this before using DV.
The whole media was captured in 1080i/50 HDV, in a 1080i/50 sequence.
HDV 1080i/50 easy setup and sequence setup.
Please help, its for a music vid with a deadline tomorrow!Hi,
I realise everything has to be rendered, and I understand the concept of conforms. I have been doing tape auto-conforms with avid and film conforms for a while now.
Does FCP really have to conform its clips' settings to a sequence settings every time you print to video? even if it is already rendered and conformed?
Even if the source material I'm working with is the same as the sequence settings (captured HDV 1080i/50, sequence settings are the same) ... that doesn't make sense to me...
Does anyone have an idea why I can print to video with perfect signal, but there is a distinct lag of the sound of about 1 second every time I try? The lag always seems to be consistently about 1 second off...
Many thanks
