  • HDMI Port not working on Lenovo G460 Win7-64bit

    I've been trying to solve this for some months now.
    I bought my lenovo G460 with nvidia M310 (with hdmi) this year and have not been able to get the hdmi port to work.
    I have two lcd displays one in our lab and another one at home (LG 2361V-PF) which have hdmi connections in the back.
    In the beginning I was able to get my notebook to work on the display in our office. However, now both displays (work+home) are not working.
    I have tried to reinstall latest nvidia drivers as of 2010-11-02 (ver. 8.16.11.8990) from lenovo, completely restore Operating system and tried different hdmi cables.
    I have even tried to use original drivers and also downgrade that to a lower version all with no luck.
    I have even taken my LG LCD display to the LG After Service Warranty office and have found no issues wrong with the Monitor itself.
    I am sure I have taken all the trouble-shooting methods into consideration so a simple question is...
    Is the hdmi port defective?
    I will take my laptop into the Lenovo After Care service center this week, but before then is there anyone who has had this issue and solved it?  -->or is it just a hardware problem easily fixed with warranty replacement parts.
    Thank you
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    ::Update:: ----------> Partially SOLVED
    Lenovo After Service Center Report:
       1. hdmi connection is fine
    They said that it could be a software problem and that they would try to update the driver.
    Partial Solution:
    Use Lenovo Original Drivers, for some reason NVIDIA newest drivers conflict with hdmi port on Lenovo G460 .
    I restored my laptop to factory condition and tested the hdmi connection and it worked for a few seconds ...
    my lcd screen started to flicker and my laptop flickers now when hdmi is connected....(A sign that hdmi is not really broken)
    Will update solution when i get it to work 100%

  • Lenovo G460 Windows 7 One Key Recovery with a Linux Partition

    Hi All,
    I recently bought a Lenovo G460 Notebook and installed linux on it to dual boot with WIndows 7. There was a problem with sound which I got fixed and everything is working fine now.
    My question is:
    Will me linux partition be there as it is If I recover the windows 7 partition using one key recovery?
    How to create a rescue disk from One key recovery?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi nilankaraja,
    To create a rescue disk :: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/onekey_recovery_46_user_guide.pdf
    On part of the Linux partition, are you asking if the partition will be saved ? Or is it something else?

  • Lenovo G460 Automatically Shutting down

    Hi,
    I am having a problem with Lenovo G460 which was purchased 2 years back. Around 6 months back I have installed Windows 8. From last 2 months Laptop is automatically shutdown or frequently getting freezed and has to restart to do any task.
    Sometimes I see Rainbow multicolored if System got moved, not sure whether this is really related to Display card (Hardware) or Software(re-installed all the drivers as well).
    Please suggest me how to resolve this issue.
    After installing Windows 8, webcam with Skype is also not working and image is getting freezed. Seems its related to display card once again.
    If display card is the problem, how to replace the VGA card and what are the supporting VGA cards for Lenovo G460.
    Regards,
    Sai Krishna

    hi Sai Krishna,
    The rainbow like image that you see when you move the system can either be a cable connection problems from the LCD to the motherboard or the GPU itself. One way to find out if it's the GPU fault is to run a stress test on it (see Passmark's BurnInTest or OCCT) and monitor your temps.
    If the system freezes at the stress test then you may have a bad gpu and AFAIK, discrete gpu chips are soldered into the plannar so you will need to replace the entire motherboard. There are two versions of this motherboard, one with an HM55 chipset with integrated graphics and the other one with a 512MB nvidia graphics.
    You can check ebay for the spare parts (like this item) or see the official lenovo spare parts website - http://lenovospareparts.com

  • Lenovo G460: Unable to proceed after Lenovo Screen

    Hi,
    I have Windows 8 installed on Lenovo G460 and it was working fine. Suddenly from last 2 days it got struck after Lenovo screen which has F2 - Bios Setting and F12 - Boot Order selection. Even F2 - Bios is not loading (Says Entering Setup ...) and hung over there.
    I have changed one setting before I had this problem in Bios from Compatible to AHCI. I am not sure if this is the problem. In order to change this back, its not loading the Bios as well.
    Please help me to resolve this.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
    Lenovo Splash screen is where the system check all Hardware Needed for the system to continue.
    Before you can enter BIOS It is also needed that all the hardware is initialized.
    If that does not happened the system will not Boot or even boot to BIOS.
    If your system is still under warranty I strongly suggest to call Lenovo Technical Team for Hardware Assistance.
     Its  possible that a device is not initializing when Turning on the system or trying to boot to BIOS.
    But if your comfortable with this you can Check this Hardware Maintenance Manual. And check the removal guide of some Parts.
    First Try removing the Hard drive and see if that is what is causing the System to stop responding
    Then Check the memory, If you have two memory module then try just one module to two slots.
    But my guess here is the Hard drive

Then i have to use the mute/unmute option in the keypad to get back the volume. what could be causing this trouble??? any help??

    ship your laptop back to lenovo. mute/unmute problem was a "launch board" failure.

  • Deadlock Problems

    Hi, i've got a deadlock problem - I've read though the tutorials about it but I still dont get whats going on... =/
    Basically I want to send out the position of the scrollbar, but make sure that messages are not sent too often (no less than 0.5 sec between messages). Heres some code (its trimmed down - pretend that the scrollbar was added to a window and that the sendScrollMoved method exists):
    private int scrollValue ;
    public Constructor() {
      scrollValue = -1 ;
      JScrollBar scrollbar = new JScrollBar() ;
      scrollbar.addAdjustmentListener( new AdjustmentListener() {
          public void adjustmentValueChanged(AdjustmentEvent e) {
            scrollValue = e.getValue() ;
      ScrollThread thread = new ScrollThread() ;
      thread.run() ;
      private class ScrollThread extends Thread {
        public ScrollThread() {
          super() ;
          setDaemon(true) ;
        public void run() {
          while (1==1) {
            yield() ;
            try {
              sleep(500) ;
            } catch(Exception e) {
                System.out.println("ScrollListener couldnt sleep") ;
            if (scrollValue >= 0) {
               sendscrollMoved(scrollValue) ;
               scrollValue = -1 ;

    the program halts without displaying any error
    messagesIf there was a deadlock then the program would stall forever without halting. This is the opposite of your actual symptoms. So you need to stop looking for deadlocks and start with another guess at your actual problem.

  • Lenovo g460 - loading problem

    Please help me with troubleshooting. First, I want to say that I am not tech savvynor knowledgable on drivers, softwares, or parts of laptop. Earlier, I was cleaning my drive from extra spaces using CCleaner. At the same time, I was downloading something. My pc suddenly stopped reaponding with cursor movement when cleaning reached around 96%. I waited 10 mins but still nothing happened. I tried to press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to no avail. I then decided to click the power button for a few seconds to reatart my device. My device then no longer loaded up as it used to. I would be prompt with dark/blank screen for minutes before it loaded a window start-up screen with no options at all. How will I Go about this problem? I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP

    hi ranbon13,
    I'm sorry to hear what happend,
    You can try booting in safemode,
          > Right after you press the power to turn on the computer start hitting F8, then it should give you options
          > Choose Safe mode,
          > If the computer booted in Safe mode, try performing a clean boot.
             ---See if this will fix your PC--
          > If not then boot to Safe mode again , try running system restore, and select a date before your ran the C cleaner.
          > If it did not boot in Safe mode, try the F8 option again and choose repair your computer, you will be then given options like this.
    http://itexpertvoice.com/files/2009/12/WinRE-04.png
    and from that you can try the System restore.
    let us know what happened

  • Lenovo G460 - dead pixel, LCD can't be waken up from sleep/ hibernation , very hard to use Touchpad

    I got this unit as my birthday present last week. I was very happy about it, as i've been using Dell laptops for the past 6 years of my life, this is the very first time in my life that i'm getting a Lenovo laptop, and i gotta say i'm very disappointed. Friends around me saw me carrying a new Lenovo and they all went " oh my god, that's Lenovo leh !!!", and now i must say "it's no big deal, it's only Lenovo".
    after i got this laptop as a present, i'd been quite busy with work and didnt even play with it much. But when i first got my hands on this laptop, i found the touchpad is the hardest one i have ever used in my life. i dont know if it's me or the touchpad itself. Sometimes, the right click doesnt work or the pointer just stalls on the screen for a few seconds no matter how hard i try to move it. Ok, i said it to myself, fine, maybe i got too used to Dell's touchpad, this is a laptop of higher end/ bigger name and it's too hard for me to use. i could get myself an optical mouse. But the nightmare is just about to start !!!
    It's labour's day, i got 3 days off work and i started playing this new laptop. After playing around with it for half a day, i left it for shower. After i returned, the display turned off. I tried every way to wake it up and they all went in vain, only a hard power off would do the job. I got online, searched the forum and found that many other users were having the same problem as i had. Ok, read that a BIOS update would solve the problem, though it's not available now. I can be patient and not a crazy **bleep** complaining about it.
    just the next day, i woke up from bed, turned on the laptop, as windows 7 was starting up, i suddenly noticed there was a **bleep** dead pixel !!!!! it's so tiny that it could be so hard to see, if it wasnt windows 7 startup screen (all black with some colorful animation at the center) i wouldnt have noticed it !!! I googled on G460 having dead pixel, oh my, i'm certainly not alone !!!
    Now that i have sold off my old dell laptop, and had everything set up in this new laptop, and it seems that i need to return this laptop, and certainly i'll have to live my life without a laptop for the next few weeks. I gotta say it again, i'm very disappointed in Lenovo !!!
    Now please let me know how do i return this laptop for repair or whatever you call it, as i work on weekdays in singapore and return to malaysia only on weekends, and this laptop was bought in Malaysia. looks like i gotta take a day off just to send this laptop back to lenovo..........what a big let down.
    have had so many Dell laptopsand  never had a single tiny problem with them......

    I'm banging my head because I can't find a solution to make my arch-install detect an audio CD
    I assume that you mean the optical drive. I don't see a /dev/sr0 in /dev
    Does it show up with lsblk or parted -l?
    Looks like it's a LiteOn drive.
    You can play an audio CD.
    mplayer cdda://
    mpv cdda://track[−endtrack][:speed][/device] −−cdrom−device=PATH
    An audio CD doesn't have a mountable file system on it.

  • Soundcard driver problem - Lenovo 3000 N500

    I have a problem with the installation of a suitable driver for the soundcard of a Lenovo 3000 N500 under XP.
    Initially there was no sounddevice displayed at all - After installing windows service-pack 3 the soundcard appeared as -
    "audiogerät auf high-definition audio bus"
    I downloaded and extracted all drivers from here - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/quickPath.do?sitestyle=lenovo&quickPathEntry=4233-5FG&ope...
    Additionally installed  "Intel HDMI Audio Driver"
    Still no suitable driver and therefor no soundcard available.
    I saw other posts with similar problems, but the solutions did not help me yet (f.e. Intel HDMI Audio Driver), but maybe instal has to be done in some very certain order.
    I would be very greatful for any help!

    As of today, status unchanged, no drivers available HERE. Unbelievable.

  • Hard Disk problem - Lenovo G470

    Dear Members,
    Good Day!
    Over the past few days, I have being getting warning messages in Intel Raipd storage technology app that " Disk on Port 0: At risk"
    I have ran a hardware scan on my Hard disk and have noticed few of the tests getting failed, I  have gone through many of  posts in this fourms and understood that, my HDD is having some problem and it may crash any time.
    I have taken back up of my factory default recovery disks in to DVD's.  However I would like get clarified on  few things related to replacing the existing HDD and setting up windows 7 in my new HDD.
    1) After replacing my OLD HDD , In my new hard disk do I need to create the C disk  with same size as that of OLD HDD for the OKR to work and restore everything properly.
    2)  Will the one key recovery feature  work with my new HDD as well? If not , what should I do make it work?
    3) Will the OEM parition( having factory default backup )be automatically created in new HDD ?
    Please find the Hardware sacn result below from Lenovo solution center.

  • T500 problems, Lenovo problems

     I just got a new T500.
    First of all the screen is not very bright. It's hard to see in a well lighted room.
    The keys on the keyboard are uneven, as in the left side of the spacebar sticks up in the air.
    The vertical scroll on the trackpad only works well if I make the zone very large.
    Screen goes dim. When on battery power for a while the screen will go very dim and will not respond to any display or power adjustments. If I plug it in, no change. If I power off and reboot, no change. If I let it sit unplugged over night then all is well.
    Today, Dec 28, 2009, I have been on the phone 4 times.
    866-426-7378  had a 15 minute wait just to tell me to call 800-426-7378 technical support for a case number.
    800-426-7378  was supposed to be technical support. The person at the other end of the phone said they are just a call center. Gave me only 2 options, either return it a pay restocking fee and all shipping, or have Lenovo repair the problems. I said I don't want to go back and forth in the mail with a new laptop please let me return it and send another one. "No", was the response.
    866-426-7378  another 15 minute wait, no help, I asked for a supervisor, he got on then disconnected me.
    866-426-7378  again, 30 minute wait, finally got an intelligent helpful person. He contacted a tech friend of his who said the problems were probably, 1 need a new keyboard, 2 new track pad or maybe just driver updates (this is a brand new unit), 3 the screen needs a new backlight and possibly even a complete lcd replacement.
    So I am sending it back and I will wait to hear from Lenovo.
    WHY DO YOU MAKE IT SO PAINFUL

    Of the drivers you mention I have the following installed:
    - ThinkPad Power Management Driver (6hku06ww)
    - Power Manager (7zu413ww)
    - Lenovo Fingerprint Software UPEK (6hf309ww)
    They appear to work well apart from switching the built in CD player on after a power down. I now have to manually eject and reinsert the CD driver to switch it on.
    On My T400s I only have discreet graphics. The built in drivers for WIn 7 worked but I downloaded Intels Win 7 graphics drivers from their site.
    You might also want to install the UltraNav driver and Utility.
    The drivers seem stable and (mostly) working as they should so I would recommend you install them.
