Stores do nothing to "tweak" channels in the store. TVs have many dozens of settings that can be changed by a user at home, and sometiems have presets to switch between certain values that the manufacturer has deemed "optimal" for certain viewing situations. If none of the preset settings offer the picture you desire, you will either need to learn how to change the settings to fit your viewing situation, or pay for a professional calibration.
It took me almost 6 months before I got my TV settings the way that I wanted them to be, using the calibration settings on various Disney DVDs, Star Wars DVDs, and special calibration DVDs, and constantly having a critical eye for everything I watched. After all of that time and effort, my TVs are about as close to profesionally calibrated as I can get them.
Have you had Time Warner out to the house to verify that it's not actually a cable problem? Just because they put "bigger cables" in the ground doesn't mean that the signal to your home is any better. Most cable and satellite companies compress their signal quite a bit on HD, and the quality suffers as a result.

It appears to be graphic card related.
Have you blown the dust out lately?
    Thanks very much for answering.
Sleeping the iMac at night would work, I'm sure, since it's only on a cold restart that the unplanned restart occurs. Not as satisfying as curing the issue, though.
Apple Hardware Test reported nothing wrong with the graphic card, but the computer is not cold by the time the test is run, so I guess that could still be it.
I'm sure there is dust inside after three + years. Apple didn't really want me to open up my iMac, but this Core 2 Duo model can be opened by lifting off the glass with suction cups, I believe. Maybe I will do that and dust, and see if that helps. There might even be something I can reseat.
Also, I believe that on my next cold startup I will try single user mode and see if that prevents the restart.
    Thanks for your suggestions.

I don't know how to interpret all this, but I am wondering if you can just find and quit the CPU hog? Be sure that "All Processes is selected at the top and that the bottom bar is set to CPU. Then scan down the CPU column and see what the hog is and quit it. Make note of what it is and if it's always the same thing.
You can check on when the launch daemons are scheduled to run the maintenance scripts. Finder>Macintosh HD>System>Library>LaunchDaemons>com.apple.periodic_daily.plist.
    For weekly: com.apple.periodic_weekly.plist
    for monthly: com.apple.periodic.monthly.plist
The daily should be set to run at 3:15 AM, the weekly for 3:15 AM on Saturday, and the Monthly for 5:30 AM on the first day of the month.
If the computer is on and awake, it will run the scripts then. If it is asleep, it will run them when it wakes up. There is a widget called "Maintidget" that you can install that will tell you when they were last run or allow you to run them manually.
Offhand, I don't think that this is a Maintenance script--I think it is something else getting launched and getting into some sort of a loop. If you can tell what it is from the CPU column of the Activity monitor and post back, that would be very helpful. I don't think I know enough about software to tell you how to fix it, but I imagine that there are others who can. But getting it identified for sure is the first step.
    Good luck!

  • 06-23 Deal of the Day LG Monitor

I received my daily email with the deal of the day.  One of the items was a LG monitor for $109.99 reg $239.99.  When I click on the link, it tells me that the reg price is $149.99, so the deal is not as good as the email states.  Best Buy needs to do a better job of reviewing their information before sending out their emails.

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/LG+-+Geek+Squad+Certified+Refurbished+23%22+Widescreen+Flat-Panel+LED+HD...
    Working fine now.
If you like my post, or solution to your issue/question, go ahead and click on the little star by my name and/or accept the post as the Solution. It makes me happy.
I'm NOT an employee of Best Buy, or Geek Squad, though I did work as an Agent for a year 5 years ago. None of my posts are to be taken as the official stance that Best Buy will take on your situation. My advice is just that, advice.
Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.

  • "Deal of the Day" is a day late (and a dollar short)

Am I the only one who gets the deal of the day around 2AM - 6AM the day AFTER the Deal of the Day is available? Does anybody else have this problem with Best Buy not sending out the emails the same day that they're valid? Sunday's Deal of the Day had the Beatles' Box Set on Sale - too bad the email wasn't sent to me until 6:08AM on MONDAY! This has been an issue for the past few weeks. I have their email set as a 'safe address' unless my ISP is holding up the messages or is Best Buy not sending them out on the day that they're valid? I even get two of them some days, one of yesterday's expired offers and today's valid offers. I also will sometimes receive the Deals of the Day email after the store closes as well. So where's the problem - is it with Best Buy's servers not sending out the emails the same day, or is it my ISP holding-up the messages?
    Thanks,
Mr. Unhappy Potential Customer who missed-out on deal.

    Hello johnnyelectron,
It would be immensely irritating to receive Deal of the Day emails the day after the deals have come and gone. I am truly sorry to hear this may be what you are experiencing. I imagine this would not be a great impression to make before you've even had a chance to visit the store or our website.
It would be quite embarrassing if we weren't sending out the Deal of the Day emails until the next day. We do our best to communicate promotions promptly once they begin. That being said, unfortunately we cannot guarantee the receipt of an email due to many variables. Please know that the time in which it takes to receive an email is also dependent on your email service provider. Depending on the email’s size, delays may occur once an email is transmitted from Best Buy.
If you should find yourself receiving emails late or not at all, you should feel welcome to ensure you are opted in to receive the emails. You may also always keep an eye on the Deal of the Day page on BestBuy.com.  If you should have any questions or additional concerns, please feel welcome to let us know.
    Respectfully,

  • Deal of the day 3 DAYS LATE!!!!!!!!

I called customer service and was transferred 3 times and no one could help.  Why would you email the deal of the day 3 days late!!!!! I received Nov 2nd deal of the day this morning Nov 5th at 7:38 am.  It is very frustrating especially from such a big company.  I also got one at 11:30 today for Nov 3rd.  This is unacceptable and Best Buy gets a big fail.
Who can I contact about this, has anyone else experienced this?
    Thanks

    Hello carter28,
There are some pretty amazing savings in our Deal of the Day offers, so I can imagine how disappointed you must have felt to receive a notification several days late. I'd be disheartened too if the same thing happened to me!
Without going into too much technical detail, know that there are many different reasons why e-mail delivery might be delayed. Among the most common, however, are filter settings, incorrectly addressed e-mails and server communication errors. Gmail and Yahoo! both have articles on their respective support sites to address these issues, and many ISPs are able to troubleshoot these issues as well.
Gmail - An incoming message was delayed or hasn't arrived
Yahoo! - Emails aren't received in Yahoo Mail
If you don't use either of these services, then I'd encourage you to contact your e-mail service provider for assistance. Like CheapestGamer mentioned, remember that you can also stay up-to-date with our Deal of the Day offers by visiting BestBuy.com or by following @BestBuy_Deals on Twitter.
Thanks for taking the time to post!

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi ozshadow,
I wasn't able to replicate the problem you described, so I'll need you to provide some additional information:
What links, specifically, are you referring to?
What is the URL of the page they appeared on?
What browser are you using? (Be specific! Ex: Google Chrome 33.0.1750.154 m)
Have you tried using another browser?
Does the problem persist after clearing your browsing history/cookies?
What type of device are you using to access BestBuy.com?
Have you tried accessing BestBuy.com from another device?
Last, but not least, do you have an anti-virus/anti-malware program installed? Some malware programs are specifically intended to modify browser settings, resulting in third-party web pages being delivered instead of requested sites.

  • Bought a week ago and now is deal of the day...

So, I bought my daughter an Asus laptop the day after Christmas. Today, the same laptop is on the "deal of the day" email that I get daily. It is $20 cheaper than I payed for it... Am I able to get that $20 back now?
    Frustrated...
    Thanks

    Hello Waldo-722-
Thanks for your patience while we worked through our backlog to reach your post.  Getting a new computer for a X-mas present or even an after-X-mas present is definitely a nice gesture on your part.  However, I can understand you wanting to save $20 on it as well if they opportunity arose.
As kst8no1 pointed out, we are unable to match a Deal of the Day price, whether ours or a competitors.  You can find more information on our Price Match Guarantee here.  I apologize for any disappointment that this may cause you.
Thanks for posting and I hope your daughter is enjoying her new computer!

  • Call of Duty Ghosts Deal of the Day 7/17/2014

Is it really true/possible that the video game deal of the day offering Call of Duty Ghosts for PS4 and XBox One really sold out in about an hour this morning or will there be more available?
I get the idea that "you snooze you lose" but I work for a living and being up between 1-2 AM my time is impossible.  It would be really nice if Best Buy would offer a rain check on this one.  I really wanted to get this game and that was a great price point!
Anything that can be done about this one?  I was up at 5 AM and it was already gone.  The only reason I know it was gone quickly is because of posts on another board.

    Hi billycuth,
As an avid gamer, I’m constantly checking Best Buy’s Deal of the Day as there are often some amazing deals. The Call of Duty: Ghosts Deal of the Day promotion you’re referring to was a perfect example of the types of sales I’m keeping an eye out for. Sadly, like you, I also missed this sale due to the demand. I’m very sorry for any frustration this has caused as that’s far from our intent with these promotions.
Per the Deal of the Day FAQ, these deals are generally up for 24 hours, or until they sell out. Once gone, Best Buy does not offer any price-matching or rain check opportunities as the Deal of the Day products are all limited in quantity. Again, I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Keep an eye on BestBuy.com as it’s definitely possible we’ll run more gaming promotions similar to this one in the future! Thanks for posting and please let us know if you have any other questions.
