Dear Adobe Asshats, (Yahoo toolbar)

Who made the asinine decision to bundle the Yahoo toolbar
with the Flash player? Guess what, I know how to type "yahoo.com"
and go find they're crap toolbar... and I'd do so if I felt I
needed it... but seriously... I don't.

old news - been discussed here for 1-2 years now - not really
discussed much anymore but search
forum for all previous old threads - for the most part, flash
detection/upgrade works behind the
scenes (express install) and user never sees that page - and
to be honest, when I go to the download
page to grab it manually, i cant find it either - i ask many
friends and clients if they see and
they can't either - besides, you have the option to not
download the yahoo toolbar - so it really
hasn't been a big deal for most people.
Seeing that the flash 8 player has been downloaded faster
than any other player (already over 80-85%
penetration), the toolbar hasn't had any adverse effect on
the player's popularity.

Locate that extension in the list, and click on it. You should see an '''Uninstall''' button, use it, and then restart Firefox.

  • Yahoo Toolbar? WTF?

    Dear Sun Developers,
I understand that you seek for opportunities to make money. Since Java is free, you may feel that making money by integrating the Yahoo Toolbar into Java is a good idea. But it is not. Just in case you didn't see the reasons, let me share my point of view:
I build an ERP which has to be sold to customers. I am in direkt competition to lots of other providers of similar software, and believe me, ERPs are in todays time only sold by a good feeling you can introduce in customers. Functionality is more or less mandatory since most customers just expect that the whole thing works.
No I have to introduce myself to customers, and if they ask me, which platform I use, I always say Java and try to convince them, that the platform alone is a stategic advance to us, and so for them.
I the customers already have Java, and Java installs the Yahoo Toolbar, the immediate impression is that its just a bunch of spyware, and that they don't want this on their company computers. This is bad for me, since I don't have any chance to get rid of the VERY bad expression Java makes in advance.
Please don't mess with the reputation of Java anymore. Java looses market shares to .net anyway, but just don't put even more into the fire and give my customers another reason to abandon Java based apps.
GET RID OF THE YAHOO TOOLBAR! It will pay for you in the medium and long run, definitly.
With best regards, and the hope for change,
    Daniel Migowski

I agree with the whole discussion. I can't figure out what rock the developers are living under.
Ok, so you may take offense but let's review just the postings above - they all support this statement:
    a) This has been going on for over 2 years - please don't rush into any decisions quickly
    b) The concept of opting out is so anti-networking one who sets it up as opt-out has never managed a network
    c) As the discussions states, this not only embarrasses us, the programmers, but is stains Sun and now Oracle. Yet, you don't seem to care, so the level of professionalism that is being displayed by SUN is far below the community that is willing to give you constructive feedback.
    d) The Yahoo Toolbar is a piece of junk. If you were a programmer you'd know this and never agree to include it with your code.
    e) The Yahool Toolbar comes with a lot of spyware/malware, etc. Yes, this is true, despite what Yahoo tells you, if you ever managed a network you'd know that it delivers a lot of other junk. Thus, as stated, you are facilitating spyware and malware by including it. I've personally removed hundreds if not thousands of spyware and malware associated with this toolbar.
These are not assumptions but real life experiences from the group that is trying to tell you a simple message: Get rid of it all together.
Now, it can't get much simpler, the question is whether you heard and whether you listened.

  • I just downloaded firefox 7 and now my yahoo toolbar is gone--help

can't get yahoo toolbar after installing firefox 7 and updating adobe flash

Looks like yahoo toolbar is disabled as it is not compatible with Firefox 7.
You can force enable yahoo toolbar by installing [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/ Addon Compability Reporter]
If the addon does not work after force enabling, then i am afraid you will need to wait for Yahoo to fix it.

  • How do I get rid of yahoo toolbar?

I hate yahoo toolbar make it so I can get rid of it.

In the past, I have seen it in the Add or Remove Programs (Windows XP) or it may be in your add-ons in Tools menu, either as a plugin or an extension.
Do a sweep of your computer with AdwCleaner, which you download and run. AdwCleaner was written by a 16-year-old boy and it does a fantastic job. I've used MalwareBytes Free.
Also run your anti-Virus (Avast! offers a PUPs search for "Potentially Unwanted Programs." Look for that feature in any number of free Anti-Malware scanners too.
Be ever so careful that you uncheck all the bundled software installs that come with updates for Java, for Adobe products, for many free download programs that you get from the likes of Cnet Download dot com. You want to avoid

  • Yahoo toolbar stopped working period!

Yesterday, 10/12/10, my Yahoo toolbar for Firefox, with all my custom buttons was working FINE. Then today, 10/13/10, although it is there, nothing works - not even the search. My buttons are gone too. I tried removing it and re-installing it, but it's still there, not functioning. Anyone know what happened?

  • I really would like to know how to totally remove Yahoo toolbar from my Firefox browser as well as my computer. I don't like those special toolbars at all.

I really would like to know how to totally remove Yahoo toolbar from my Firefox browser as well as my computer. I don't like special toolbars at all. I find it irritating that you included one in the newest version of your browser. In the future I would hope you would leave this or any other out. Firefox used to be my favorite browser to use, now I am not going to want to use it because of the extra toolbar. Please tell me there is a way to remove this, not just hide it.

You can't move the Yahoo Toolbar from IE to Firefox, they are totally different "behind the scenes". However you can install it, [http://us.toolbar.yahoo.com/ http://us.toolbar.yahoo.com/] and I believe if you log in with your Yahoo account it will sync your data.

  • Firefox is telling me my yahoo toolbar is not compatible with firefox 4.i have no refresh button or any of the others . will there be an update to make my yahoo toolbar work with this new firefox?

fire fox does not have a refesh button it doesnt have a home button so i can access my homepage. i want that back

As Digital Persona have abandoned it, there will be no update to their extension. It may work with the Fingerfox (SE) extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/fingerfox-se

  • I upgraded to Firefox 4 and now I can't use my yahoo toolbar, all my yahoo bookmarks are gone and I hate it! How can I get my stuff back?

First, I kept getting a notice that I should upgrade to Firefox 4. For a few days, I clicked on the link, and it said it was connecting to the server-all day long-until I clicked off of it. So, I went to the Mozilla website and downloaded the new version. My persona disappeared, my yahoo toolbar will not work, all my yahoo bookmarks disappeared and I can't get them back. Is there any way I can fix this! If not, I am going back to IE! This is stupid and frustrating!

Yea, they say they will have it done by '''MAY'''!
Guess I'll just have to turn my computer off for 2 months while I wait.
What other Add-ons don't work? It sure would have been nice to know BEFORE I updated.

  • Why does firefox not load my yahoo toolbar that I have personalized with my apps. I am so try of this crap! What is the problem?????

When I load Firefox my Yahoo toolbar with all my links that I use does not load! I've been dealing with this for a long time! And as much as I hate Internet Explorer, you are forcing me to go back to it after 3 years with Firefox! Why dose your program have to be so uncooperative. If I can't access my program with ease, what good are you? I don't have this problem with IE. I have been using Firefox because it's so much faster than IE. But If I have to waste all this time trying to re-install Yahoo toolbar or type in Internet addresses, You really are no better, even worse!

'''Ya I also have the same problem. its working on I Explorer but I don't want to be so slow. '''
    plzz suggest me a solution.
    thanks.

  • How do I get rid of a yahoo toolbar that keeps popping up and is not on the program list of my computer?

Immediately after I updated my firefox a couple of weeks ago, the browser started to display a yahoo toolbar. At the time my husband took it off using the control panel and add/remove program function on the computer.
since this am, the toolbar has come back up. I did NOT do anything to request it, or put it there. It is not showing up on my program list, I cannot find it when I do a search of my computer. When I went to yahoo help "remove toolbar" the two suggestions were to do that or use the settings button to remove it, but the settings menu on this doesn't have that option, unless maybe I would create an account, log in, and then remove it. I don't really want to do that either.
I don't know where this came from, and don't really trust it. I would like to take it off, but can't seem to figure out how.

I figured it out! Click on the Orange 'Firefox' tab on the upper left hand side of the Firefox browser, Choose 'Options', then deselect 'Yahoo! toolbar'.
