Death Threats to my home number

Today I received several calls in a few minutes time from a very angry man who was cussing and yelling at me to stop calling his phone number. He somehow thought that my home number, which is in no way associated with Skype, (and he never mentioned Skype, I'll get to why I'm here in a moment) was calling his phone constantly and waking him up. He was so angry he actually threatened to shoot me.
I'm in this forum now because the number that he continually called from was 661-748-0240. An easy google search turned up a Skype routing number. The name on the caller ID with that number was "Daniel.harsh1" which I'm guessing is the guys user name.
I have never called a Daniel Harsh, and he is threatening me over the phone. I can't find a number to contact Skype (in the US) anywhere, but I thought you guys in the forum might be able to provide some advice on what to do.

Hi, ToolTimeTim, and welcome to the Community,
Please report these incidents to Skype either via contacting them via their secure portal, or by sending an e-mail to [email protected]
You may also report this incident to your local law enforcement agency if you are threatened.
Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
As you know you intend to contact Customer Service, skip past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). You may also skip past in Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started.
Kind regards,
Elaine

  • Receiving death threats on an online game app what do I do?

I am part of an online game where there is communications between players via "telegrams". There is an individual that is sending death threats and telling players he will find them and kill them, kill there grandmothers, rape there mothers, some of the players that are receiving these threats and messages are around 12 years old. Many of us are a part of the community forum for the game and we have expressed our concerns with the community manager but he refuses to do anything about it. Is there someone that I can talk to at apple that would be able to assist us with this problem? When I say us, there are many I am just speaking for everyone.

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has a FAQ which includes this:

  • Home number changed without my knowledge. Want my old number back.

I have been in touch with Verizon's phone representatives ever since moving into my new apartment. Most recently, my home number changed after I cancelled digital voice service and got Verizon to put me back on my old service. The new number that Verizon has me on is not even recognized as a Verizon number! I talked to Britney the other day and was told that she would call me after getting permission to change our number back to what it was before. This current number sems like the temporary number that Joanie gave me during my FIOS installation. When I called Verizon again this morning to check the status of my inquiry I was told that they can't change my number back because it's unauthorized and that the number is not even Verizon's. My home number has been hijacked and I AM HELPLESS. Everyone says one thing and I am stuck with a number I didn't even ask for. Please help me get my old number back. This is not right.

    Good afternoon Nahid,
Can you send us this information in a private message so we can look further in to this please?

  • DEATH THREATS from app 24sms

Hello, I received an anonymous death threat against my family via SMS text message from app "24sms"... I sent a msg via their website
http://www.24sms.net/contactus requesting them to send me the IP address where they received the msg from but no answer... I do need an answer from the "24sms" app developers.
This is very serious and me and my family are very worried... please help me find a way to get to the bottom of this... This app must be closed if they allow this situations to happen to me or other people.
    Please help.

It will probably take a court order for 24sms to divulge any information about a user. You will, as WJ said, need to take this to the police, or hire an attorney and attempt to get a court order yourself. I would, however, expect that even if you get an IP address it won't do you much good. You'll then have to identify the ISP who provides that IP and gey another court order to get them to turn over records for that address. Even then it's probable that the IP address used is not tied to a fixed location whereby the police could find a culprit.
I really sympathize with and understand your concern. In this digital age, however, it's far too easy for some prankster or nutball to make anonymous threats and hide in the Internet. But if these threats were targetted specifically at your family, definitely file a police report.
    Regards.

  • I have a problem with Siri. Often when I say "call [name of person in contacts] ... home" Siri says there is no home number for [name of person]. But there is!

I have a problem with Siri. Although my contacts are entered correctly including naming the contact's home phione number as "Home", Siri will often tell me there is no home number for that person. She then gives me a choice of using the contact's home or mobile number (whicgh appear correct on the screen) and when I choose "Home" Siri again tells me there is no home number for that name. Any ideas? Am I entering the contact incorrectly?

Well, it seems waiting is not my strong suit..! I renamed a javascript file called recovery to sessionstore. This file was in the folder sessionstore-backups I had copied from mozilla 3 days ago, when my tabs were still in place. I replaced the sessionstore in mozilla's default folder with the renamed file and then started mozilla. And the tabs reappeared as they were 3 days ago!
So there goes the tab problem. But again when I started mozilla the window saying "a script has stopped responding" appeared, this time the script being: chrome//browser/contenttabbrowser.xml2542
If someone knows how to fix this and make firefox launch normally, please reply! Thank you

  • Don't recognice home-number

    My nokia 701 don't recognice my home-number,
All the other numbers are recognicet and show me the name of the caller and play the installed ringtone.
Only my home-number (same provider) shows me only the number and play the standart ringtone,
Strange enough this was also the case with my Nokia 6700 slide.
I did delete this contact and re entered it but this didn't help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

At my wifes name I have only her mobile number entered.
It is the home line wich gives the problem.
But this and my wife's mobile should give me the same ringtone.
Only the mobile-number gives me the ringtone wich I did enter for all the family.
The home phone (wich I gave the name home "Thuis")  let me hear the standart ringtone and instead of showing me "Thuis" it shows me the number.

  • How do you add a mobile number and a home number to a contact on a 4S

How do you add a mobile number and a home number to a contact on an iPhone4S?

First add the mobile number. Once you've done that there should be another field that shows 'iPhone". Tap on 'iPhone' and change it to 'Home' then input the home number.

  • Verizon won't port my current home number to Fios

I've been a Verizon home phone customer since before they were called Verizon, over thirty years.  During that time, I've had the same phone number at the same address.  I want to subscribe to Verizon Triple Play so I can get away from Comcast. However, Verizon keeps telling me that they cannot port my number.  I have called repeatedly and talked to a various people. They either tell me that "it's a copper line and they cannot convert it" or they tell me that I have a foreign exchange for my area.  A foreign exchange? If I've had the number for over thirty years and my neighbors have the same exchange, how is it a foreign exchange?  I have filed a complaint with the FCC for a violation of the Portability Act.  I would really like to resolve this though and just switch over. I should not have to fight when I want to buy more products from Verizon.

  • I want to look at a list of callers to my home number

I want to view a list of phone numbers that have called me, but unfortunately I do not have digital voice and, prior to today's date, I did not have call assistant. Is there a department that can provide a list of inbound calls to my number? It is a personal emergency and assistance in this would be greatly appreciated.

  • Connecting IPod Touch gives a blue screen of death on windows xp home

    Hi,
I recently got a new ipod touch. I downloaded the itunes 9.1 and connected the ipod touch with my PC to configure it for the time first time. After connecting the machine detected it as a camera and then it gave me a BSOD.
I updated my machine with all the automatic updates from microsoft, even tried downloading and updating some patches manually but nothing worked out.
I searched the apple support pages and did the activities mentioned there but none seems to be working
I have no other USB devices connected on my machine, there are no webcams or printers attached to the PC
Any help is appreciated, I have been trying for last 2 days and finally gave up
    Thanks

Ta very much, Jason! That's useful to know.
These sorts of outdated-software clashes can hang around for the longest time. Back before you came on board, one of the common causes of BSODs was a version of Roxio Easy CD creator (5.0 I think ...) that wasn't actually compatible with XP. If you had it on board, it quite was plausible that you couldn't get your XP PC to boot ... but for some folks the problem lay dormant, and their first sign of trouble with it was when the PC had iTunes installed on it, and the PC started blue-screening if they plugged in an iPod, inserted a CD, or sometimes just tried to launch iTunes.
Used to catch in particular folks who had upgraded their OS from ME to XP.
Mercifully extinct or vanishingly rare now ... but it kept showing up for me here in 2005 through 2007 ...

  • Can I make Skype online number the same as my home...

I own a small business and use Skype as my outgoing calls from my home and kept a basic At&t incoming groundline into my home. The problem is sometimes potential clients just call back on the number in their caller ID instead of my home number.
I would like to make my displayed number from me on Skype to people I call showing my home telephone number. Can this be done?
    Thanks, JT

The only way you could make your home number appear as Caller ID when you call from Skype is if your home number can receive the SMS messages sent by Skype in the verification process.  In most places, landline phones are not able to receive SMS messages, so your landline telephone carrier would be able to answer that.  If the landline number can't receive SMS messages, then you would not be able to use it as Caller ID with Skype.

  • Multiple Contacts with the Same Number

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1583335?start=0&tstart=0
I found that thread but I can't reply to it (it's been archived), and I want to know why Apple feels there is no need to make this distinction.
People in that thread suggested it operates the same as Caller ID - this is NOT the case. With a Caller ID, the name reported is not on YOUR end, but the phone company's. On a cell phone, it just matches the incoming number with your address book. And I'd like to add that even most land line phone handsets have a contact book that it looks up incoming calls to override the caller ID.
But the difference with an iPhone, especially with iOS 6, is all the data integration. It imports your Facebook friends directly into your contacts, but gives NO way to override or modify that information. So if, say, your brother lives at home with your parents, and he lists their home number as his own on Facebook, I have no way to alter this, and the incoming call is shown as "Home or His Name" (I've been using a contact named "Home" for that number) with no way to change it!!
I can't POSSIBLY be the only person that still uses contacts like "Home" or "Nextdoor Neighbor"... Apple seems to assume that each contact is a single person, and that isn't always the case.
I liked the idea that a poster in that thread I linked at the top of this post had - forming "groups" of contacts and assigning a name to the group as a whole. I see iOS 6 added groups of contacts, but I don't see ANY way to create them.

One workaround I've found to this is adding an extra character to the phone number in contacts which you do not want displayed when a call is received.
    Smith residence: 111-222-3333
    John Smith: 111-222-3333 x
    Mary Smith: 111-222-3333 x
It's not particularly pretty or elegant, but it gets the job done. Calls placed to Mary or John seem to work, even with the extra character, although this may vary depending on the network provider.

  • I am setting up a new 5c - but all the phone numbers in VM are written in the international format.  How can I change them to read like a US phone number.

Please tell me how I can change the format of the telephone numbers on my visual VM.  The numbers are reading like international numbers (with a + at the beginning) rather than the format of the US phone numbers.

    Hi AntonionC:
Thanks so much for trying to help me on this problem.  I have done what you suggested - don't know why I hadn't seen that before.  I had been looking through the settings for every possibility.
I am not yet sure if it did the trick because I haven't had anyone call and leave a message.  I tried calling myself from the home land line; but because my home number is in my contacts it just listed "Home" as the caller and didn't write out the number.  So I must get some friend to call me and leave a message.  But I think it may have worked because now it lists the caller - "Home" - whereas on the 4 other numbers that were transferred from my old phone it only listed the numbers in Int'l format.
I really do appreciate your taking time to respond to my question.  As soon as I find out if it's the ultimate cure, I will let you know.

  • Use of FAX on Softphone number

I have a HP Office jet 6500 with a built in fax, it works fine as fax on my Home number but does not appear to want to dial out using the softphone number on the Home hub2.1.  Any ideas??

Just to add, the BT Voyager 2500V had a facility where you could increase the bandwidth of the voice channel, and that would work with some fax machines, provided you told them to "blind dial". That lets them dial out without waiting for dial-tone.
