Deauthorization of All Computers

If I deauthorize all computers can I then authorize my two current computers again?  I had a Dell that died on me and I don't want that computer counting towards my 5.

Yes.

  • How do I deauthorize all computers associated with my Apple ID?

    Hi all,
First post on Apple Support Communities :-)
When I bought my first Apple product (iPad 2) a few months ago, I didn't know anything about Apple IDs, iTunes Store, Home Sharing and Computer authorizations. I experimented a little with iTunes and home sharing in VMware virtual machines (Windows 7) on my computer (Ubuntu). I quickly used up the 5 authorized computers, so I used the "Deauthorize all computers associated with your Apple ID" feature in iTunes and kept on experimenting (since I couldn't get things to work properly in my virtual environment).
Now I have an iPhone 4S and my daughter has an iPod Touch 4G, and I'm planning on buying the new Apple TV. But I'm not going to because I can't have Home Sharing. I can't "clean" the authorized computers because I did it a few months ago and it is only permitted once a year.
It is possible to request an exception (and how?) and have the authorized computers cleaned up?
    Thanks a lot
    Sebastien

If you can't deauthorize systems just by the "deauthorize" command under the Store menu in iTunes, then go here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
and follow the instructions to report the problem to the iTunes Store. They may be willing to clear your authorizations for you.

  • I want to 'deauthorize all computers'. Apple web says to go to Account Information and click deauthorize all, but the option is not there. where can i do this?

I want to 'deauthorize all computers'.  the Apple web says to go to Account Information and click deauthorize all, but that option is not available on the screen.  How else to I get to the deauthorize all computers.

Login to iTunes,  go to "view your account info" on the itunes store,  deauhtorise all five,  and then re-authorize your current Computers one at a time.

  • I'm a pc tech, I go through computers like water buying and selling. Apple says I can only "deauthorize all computers" once a year. Over time, I've authorized the 5 that Apple allows, now I can't even authorize the one I'm currently using. WTH DO I DO????

I've had constant problems with syncing, I don't understand why Apple can't just make a simple interface where I can sync what's on my iPhone to a new computer, thereby creating a "library" of what I have on my phone already.  Obviously, what I have on my phone is what the heck I want on my phone.  I'm a pc tech, I go through several computers a year because I buy and sell and repair them.  Apple won't let me "deauthorize" computers until NOVEMBER, and it won't let me "Authorize" the desktop I just built for myself.  The new iPhone OS is about to debut, and I can't even sync this phone to my new computer or new itunes.  THis is ridiculously complicated and frustrating as ****.  If I didn't like the iPhone so much, I'd never bother with all this hassle.  And Apple wonders why suddenly about 70% of the market now belongs to ANDROID users. What do I have to do, Call customer support to get my account straight???? TOTALLY disgusted with this whole thing.

iPhones are not, nor have they every been storage devices.  They are merely mirrors of the content in the users iTunes library.  As such, syncing is one way, computer to iDevice.

Learn to deauthorize them before taking them out of service.  Sorry, but the scenario describe above is not "normal" and I cannot imagine any user buying a used computer from a so-called tech that he built for himself.  If building computers for customers, build them for the customer and keep your data off of them.

Again, had the previous computers been de-authorized this would be a none issue.  A call to iTunes Customer Support may provide a way around the one year limit on deauthorizing all computers.

    No, it's not.

In that case, READ the User's Guide and educate yourself on how to use the device as designed.  Or find a competent tech to explain it in a way that you can understand it.

If you no longer have, or access to, the computer(s) you want to deauthorise,
Log in to iTunes,  go to "view your account info" on the itunes store, deauthorise all five,
(Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months)
Then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time..

  • HT5622 How can I authorize a new computer (with windows 8) without deauthorizing my other computers (windows 7) . Under manage your account the only choice given is to deauthorize all computers already authorized

I just bought a new computer with windows 8. I have 2 other computers (windows 7) authorized for itunes. When I go to manage your account the only choice I am give is to deauthorize all computers. There is no place from which to authorize this new computer or to deauthorize the 1 computer that is dead rather than both. Suggestions appreciated

To authorize the Windows 8 computer, press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer, or click here, follow the instructions, click on Store in the menu bar, and choose Authorize this Computer.
It isn't possible to individually deauthorize a computer which is dead or which you don't have either physical or network access to.

  • I cannot deauthorize all computers

I'm changing to new laptop and installing iTunes but it pops up that I cannot authorize more than 5 computers and I have to deauthorize any of them first. Scrolling down of the help page and found "deauthorize all computer" then I opened the ex-laptop and followed the step but after "sign in" I didn't see the box to deauthorize all computers which was remarked that if I don't see this option means I have authorized only 1 computer. ?!?!
I don't get it. While the pop up in the new laptop says it doesn't allow me to authorize more than 5 computers but I couldn't deauthorize all computers because I have authorized one?
    Pls. advice.

    Hi there sutida_pp,
You may find the information in the article below helpful. It looks like you can only deauthorize all computers once per year, so this may be where you are running into issues.
Deauthorize your Mac or PC using iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6283
If need to deauthorize your computer but you can't access it, you need to deauthorize all computers. After you authorize 2 computers, you'll have the option to deauthorize all computers for your Apple ID. You can deauthorize all computers once per year.
Using one of your authorized computers, follow these steps:
Click to open your account in iTunes (you may need to sign in with your Apple ID). Or open iTunes, click Store > Sign In, and enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Deauthorize All.
The Deauthorize All button appears only if you have more than 2 authorized computers. If you don't see the Deauthorize All button, that means you only have one authorized computer.
    Hope that helps,
    -Griff W.

  • HT1420 What will the screen show when I deauthorize all computers?   Will it show them and then I select the ones to authorize?  I don't want to undo or be unable to re-authorize the ones I still want.

What will the screen show when I deauthorize all computers?   Will it show them and then I select the ones to authorize?  I don't want to undo or be unable to re-authorize the ones I still want.

"What will the screen show when I deauthorize all computers?  "
Nothing.  Not sure what you mean.
" Will it show them and then I select the ones to authorize? "
    No.
You have to authorize a computer from that computer.  You cannot authorize a computer from another computer.

  • HT1420 If I deauthorize all computers, can I reauthorize some of them again?

I have 5 authorized computers--itunes won't let me see what computers are authorized--I know at least one of them I no longer have--the only option is to deauthorize all--wondering if I can re-authorize ones that I deauthorize.

    Yes, you can re-authorize computers you've de-authorized.
    Authorization and Deauthorization
See iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization for Macs.
See How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld for Windows.
In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it.
More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

  • HT1420 If I deauthorize all computers, are all the accounts and all libraries gone?

If I deauthorize all computers, are all accounts and all libraries gone?

No.  Deauthorizing a computer has nothing to do with removing content from a computer.  It does nothing to the account beyond deauthorizing a specific computer from playing content linked to the specific account.
