Deauthorize Computer? My own Music?
I've been a LONG time user of mac (1986+) and i actually feel embarrased to NOT understand this:
I Just bought 2 days ago a Macbook. I LOVE the ipod-style remote interface, and decided to import some of me cds so when I hook up the laptop to my theater system, I can scroll throught my music. Under the remote interface, i get the prompt "Your computer is not authorized to play this song"
I was slightly offended: Original CD, my mac, registered, and I cant play my own songs.
Please help.

I bought one song from iTunes through another browser that I use often, and it played just fine some 84 times. Then with a new upgrade MY computer decided that that particular song was not mine - stolen perhaps? - and it has refused to play it!
I have about had it with iTunes if I am not going to get to play my favorite song(s) when the computer decides it isn't paid for or whatever.
I am one step short of deactivating - read removing - iTunes!

If you use the same Apple ID for iCloud on each device, yes. However, you can use the same Apple ID for iTunes content on each device, but different Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc., on each device. That way, you can have whatever iTunes content you want on each phone, but keep all of the other data separate. You can create another Apple ID here:

Apple, you HAVE to get a little more customer friendly about the music we buy. We also have our own music and when we download it guess where it goes? into my Apple library. PS That's mine. To make our life difficult your protocols will not allow me to simply "move" my ENTIRE itunes library to my new computer. Why the heck not?? Explanation please. And not because there are other steps you created. Why do you not ALLOW it? Want me to repurchase or reload music I already put on there? Geeezzz.
PS the result.............I havent been able to buy nor am I now inclined to buy more music because....I cant. Good thing I put some good good playlists on my IPOD because it seems its now a portable CD.
Not Happy.Can't tell you exactly, as it can be used to facilitate piracy and Apple blocks this sort of thing from occuring (except for itunes purchased music)
But you can find out what your looking for at iLounge, i'd suggest that method for "mixed" music from different sources, that way you get it all back.
Next time, hit the iTunes menu and backup your library to disks, only takes a few minutes and a few DVD-R's.

You'll want to enable Manually Manage Music and Videos. Once you do that you'll be able to drag and drop the music from the computer to the iPod.

Yes, it is possible. 1 apple ID can be associated with up to 10 devices.

Yes, all purchases are non-transferable.

Every device associated with one apple ID through Find my iPhone is tied to that Apple ID; Find my iPhone will work in the same way with up to ten devices associated with one apple ID. You cannot enable Find my iPhone for one device across two apple IDs

If you have authorized a computer with the old apple ID, you can transfer old media purchased through the old to other devices via iTunes. This doesn't mean the media purchases through the old apple ID it transferred to the new account. If you plan to make future purchases and don't wish to share them with others, make your own apple ID. -
Please can anyone help, I recently purchased a second hand ipod touch and it had over 4000 photos on it, so to delete them I went to settings and found an option which said something like erase all content and data, I did this and the next morning I tried to turn it on to put my own music on, only to find that the only display on the screen is a usb lead with an arrow pointing to a CD. I cant get past this screen even after plugging it in to my itunes account, its like my computer can not find the ipod.
Put it in Recovery Mode. If your computer won't recognize your iPod, try another one. How did you wiped the iPod? With iTunes or directly with the settings app?

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the iTunes Library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.

Received hand-me-down Ipod classic. Can I put my own music on there without erasing photos?
I received an 80 gigabyte iPod Classic from my niece. It's got lots of family photos on it that I'd like to keep on it. She doesn't even know if she has some of these pictures any longer, this might be the only place they're still at. Is there anyway I can update the iPod with my own music without erasing/deleting the pictures? Or do I have to do a complete wipe of the whole iPod to be able to use it on my account?
Please tell me there's some way to do this.My niece no longer has the computer and, to top that off, she's gone a tad bit psycho and has decided no one in the family can see her kids unless they pay her to see them. I'm on Social Security Disability. I can barely afford to pay my bills some months. It's been half a year. She's not changing her mind. So these are all the photos I have left of them to remember them by.
I'm not willing to lose them so I guess I can't use the ipod.
This needs to be something Apple should look into. What happens if someone dies? I can understand not transferring songs because of copyrights and profits to musicians, but family photos? If a family member dies, all the family then has is a very expensive, tiny electronic photo album. -
Can I tunes delete music from my own Music dir?
I have a music library on my computer in "my music" and want to thin out my music. How best to do this? If I get them into itunes as a playlist it makes yet another library. If I delete from that it will delete its own libary ( which seems to be a sort of duplicate) and my ipod if I wish. But I want to get rid of songs in the original library. Or would it be advised to delete the original library and only continue with itunes own library. Seems crazy to have 2 large directories of music.
what i would reccommend doing is moving (not copying) one of the libraries and see if iTunes still plays. if not, move that library back and the other one away. if iTunes does not ask you to locate the file, you may delete the library that is currently moved. then you should have only the library that iTunes uses to play from. you can delete the extra playlist you added, as you no longer need it.

Why won't it let me add my own music to playlists?
I was wanting to hear I Need You To Love Me by BarlowGirl (the real version, not the acoustic version Spotify has), and I started a new playlist to add a bunch of songs I have on my computer including that one. There were 20 songs I was trying to move into the playlist, and only two songs (Lost In Love by Air Supply and Love Me Tomorrow by Chicago) transferred. No matter what I do, it won't let me put those other 18 songs into the Spotify playlist. Also, I can't find most of my own music in the "Local Files" tab. I understand that not all the music in the world will be on Spotify, and I understand why The Beatles and others aren't on there, but why can't I make a Beatles "LOVE" playlist by dragging the album into Spotify? I am a Premium user, so I don't understand why I can't add whatever song I want to my own playlists.
Seriously Spotify team, PLEASE get on this issue! It's been like this for a majority of 2015 so far and no changes. I have to downgrade to an earlier version of Spotify to be able to create new playlists of local files that I've bought offline that Spotify doesn't have. I think Spotify has been upgraded numerous times since this issue came to light and it STILL hasn't been fixed; every time there's an upgrade, instead of enjoying new features I have to curse and swear under my breath as I re-downgrade my spotify to be able to do this one very important thing (create local file playlists.)
This is a huge problem and should have been addressed immediately instead of just ignored for so long. PLEASE lets fix this issue so your users can actually USE your latest software! -

Does your wife sync her phone with a different computer or iTunes.
If so you need to copy that music to that iTunes
If she syncs with the same iTunes as you do just select your music and sync as normal -
Lost store iTune credit with Deauthorize computer?
Hello,
I'm having difficulty with authorizing purchased songs on my computer after a HD upgrade. One post in discussions suggested Deauthorize computer and Authorize iTunes, so I did. I still have the problem and I've lost a two song credit from Starbucks!
Will the system be smart enough to figure out and update the lost two song credit or is it just gone? If I had say a 10 song credit I'd be very concerned.
So after installing the software on the new HD iTunes will not open any purchased songs transferred from my old drive. iTunes will ask permission and they authorize it on the song, but then ask again for the same info??
I've contacted iTunes support and hope to share some good news.

MarkiTunes support suggested logging out and logging in. That worked in seeing the store credit. I'm still having problems with authorizing purchased music (stuck in an authorize loop.)

New to the ipod and I'd like to download my own music. Looking at the manual it just says open the internet on your computor. It doesn't explain any further . Please help.
You need to copy the music onto your computer's iTunes library first. Then, it's a snap. Configure the sync characteristics to duplicate the music onto the iPod just like purchased music.

My storage is mostly full of a category labeled "other." I'm out of memory to the extent that it won't even allow me to update apps. I have moved all photos over to my computer and my music streams through the cloud. Any advice on how to fix this problem?

No it is not possible. Content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently tied to the account from which it was originally purchased, and Apple does not provide a way to change it.
