Deauthorize computers that are gone or reformatted

I need to know how to de-authorize a computer that will not start up and on 2 others that I had to reformat the hard drives and reinstall the OS. I ran out of authorizations when I set up newly reformatted drives. Please help. I know I had other computers that I scrapped that had authorizations too.

From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420
*To deauthorize all computers associated with your accoun0t*
If you find you have reached 5 authorizations, you can reset your authorization count by clicking Deauthorize All in the Account Information screen.
1. Click iTunes Store in the menu on the left side of iTunes.
2 .If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
2. Click the Account button again (your ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
4. In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
N.b. Once you've done this you will not be allowed to "deauthorie all" again for a year, so, if possible, it is better to deauthorize computers before reformatting etc.

How do you deauthorize computers that are no longer functional?

i followed the directions to deauthorize one "fried" computer and one old Windows laptop i no longer use from my new MacBook Pro.  When i go into iTunes on my new MacBook Pro, however, iTunes says i still have 5 authorized computers and i can't set up my music on my laptop using iTunes Match.  I did not deauthorize all my computers because i still have an iphone and two ipads.  Now that i've invoked deauthorize, what am i supposed to do for the next 12 months until i can deauthorize again?

  • Can't deauthorize computers that are no longer with us

I am in a bind. I am an instructor at a university (that's only part of my bind). Last year, I put iTunes on 4 classroom computers as well as my office computer. Over the summer, the IT folks upgraded to new machines in the classrooms and I got a new one in my office. I didn't remember to deauthorize any of them before they dissapeared.
Now, I can't listen to music that I paid for. Is there a work-around for this?

If you have run out oc authorisation becuse you have used up all five, you can deauthorise all your computers from your store account.

Look under: How do I deauthorize all of my computers?
You can only do this once a year, so you need to remember to deauthorize PC that are not in use or going to be upgraded.

About De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.
Also, see iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.

  • HT1420 Why can't iTunes show me which computers that are authorized?  Why do I need to find those computers?

With my kids all over the place, why do I need to find every computer that is authorized?  In order to deauthorize a specific computer, i need to find that computer and deauthorize it.  i should be able to access my account and see the computers that are authorized, and select one or two for deauthorization. As an alternative, I should be able to purchase an additional pack of authorizations for my account. The authorization process is poorly designed and hard to use.

If you have 2 or more computers authorised then you can log into your account on your computer's iTunes and 'deauthorise all' (which you can do once every 12 months) and you can then authorise/reauthorise the computers that you still have and need.
In terms of seeing a list of authorised computers and/or purchasing extra authorisations, you can try leaving feedback for Apple here : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

  • Can I use this app to log on to computers that are not in a network

I'd like to be able to log on to a few clients' computers who are not on one network and be able to provide remote tech support.
Will this Remote Desktop app work for that, or does it only work for computers that are all on the same network?

Thanks so much.  I couldn't tell by reading all the literature if it was possible or not and no one at Apple could help.  I had a feeling it wasn't going to work the way I wanted it to.  I will check out LogMeIn and see if that suits better.
Appreciate very much your responding to me so quickly.
    Thank you!

  • HT1349 Apparently you can have 5 computers registered for iTunes.  I have 3 active computers but I guess I have other computers that are still activated that I no longer use.  Is there a way to delete or see what the others are?  Please help!

Apparently you can have 5 computers registered for iTunes.  I have 3 active computers but I guess I have other computers that are still activated that I no longer use and I no longer have as they crashed.  Is there a way to delete or see what the other computers are so that I can go in and delete them?  I've tried to email Apple directly but apparently I need my hardware # and obviously I do not have that # since I don't have the equipment any longer.  Any help is greatly appreicated.  I am trying to add another computer and it won't allow me to as they say I'm at my limit.  Please help!

    Sure.
Just open up iTunes on your computer -> Go to the iTunes Store -> Click your e- maill address (top right corner of the window) -> Type in your password for your Apple ID -> Under Computer Authorisations (underneath your Apple ID account balance and address) -> Press 'Deauthorise All'
-> This will deauthorise all computers and devices from your iTunes account -> you then need to re- authorise any computers/ devices you would like to use with your Apple ID for iTunes content -> to do this, select the Store tab along the menu at the top (where 'File', 'Edit', 'View' etc..... are) -> Then click 'Authorise this Computer' -> Type in your Apple ID -> Voila!
For any iOS devices (non- computers) you wish to re- authorise, these will automatically do so when you go to play iTunes content, download an app or anything like that on those devices!
    Hope this helps!

  • HT202213 I need to delete computers that are no longer active from my home sharing account, how do I do this?

I need to delete computers that are no longer active from my itunes Home sharing account so that I can sign up the new computers.  I am using a Mac laptop. The computers that were previously linked to the Homesharing are no longer available, they have been wiped and are not in the house anymore.   Does anyone know how to do this?

The apps aren't stored in your personal iCloud account and don't use any of your storage.  They are only stored in the App store.  The iCloud symbols are only links to your previous purchases in the App store so you can download them again.  If you don't want to see certain apps, you can hide them in iTunes on your computer as explained here: iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases.  Once hidden in iTunes, you should no longer see them on your phone.

  • TS2972 How do I deauthorize computers that I no longer have?

How do I deauthorize computers that I no longer have access to?  It's been a long time since I first started using iTunes and didn't think to deauthorize a computer when we took it out of service, or it crashed and then we couldn't take it out of service if we wanted to. So, now that I have a new MacBook, I want to authorize it with my iTunes account and the only option to deuthorize a computer is "deauthorize all" - or deauthoize from the actual computer (which I no longer have due to it crashing, etc..)
So, part two of my question -- if I have to choose "deauthorize all" will it affect anything in my current libraries?  I'm hoping I can just "deauthorize all" and then go to the specific computers I have now and reauthorize without losing any music, etc.  Is that a correct assumption?
    Thanks!

If you no longer have, or access to, the computer(s) you want to deauthorise,
Log in to iTunes,  go to "view your account info" on the itunes store, deauthorise all five, (Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months)  and then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time.

  • Do IMAQ Cast Image or IMAQ Linear averages give different results when using different computers that are running under Windows XP ?

    Hello
I'm currently developping an image processing algorithm using Labview 7.1 and the associated IMAQ Vision tools. After several tests, I found a weird result. Indeed, I put the labview algorithm - including the IMAQ VI on the library to get sure that I use all the time the same VI - on my memory stick and used it on two different computers. I tested the same picture (still in my memory stick) and had two very different results.
After several hours trying to understand why, I found that there were a difference between the results given by both computers at the very begining of the algorithm. Indeed, I used a JPEG file.
To open it, I first create an Image with IMAQ Create (U8). Then, I open it.
Then in my first sub-VI, I use IMAQ Cast Image to be sure that the picture is a U8 grayscale picture.
Right after that, I use the IMAQ Linear Averages. The results of this VI are different on the two computers.
I tried several time on the same picture : one computer always give me the same result but the two computers give me a different result. So there is no random variable on the results.
So my question is : Do IMAQ Cast Image or IMAQ Linear averages give different results when using different computers that are running under Windows XP ?
My bet is on IMAQ Cast Image but I'm not quite sure and I do not undestand why. The labview and IMAQ are the same on both computers.
The difference between the two computer are above :
    Computer 1 :
    Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz with a RAM of 1Go. The processor is an Intel(R).
The OS is windows XP Pro 2002
    Computer 2 :
    Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80GHz with a RAM of 512Mo. The processor is an Intel(R).
The OS is windows XP Pro 2002.
If anybody can help me on this problem, it would be really helpful.
    Regards
    Florence P.

    Hi,
Indeed it's a strange behaviour, could you send me your VI and your JPEG file, (or another file that reproduces) so that I could check this inthere ?
I'll then try to find out what's happening.

I need to deauthorize computers that I no longer own or have access to. How can I do this?
    Thanks
