Deauthorizing a computer when you don't have it anymore!

Anyone know how to accomplish this? I have reached my 5 computer limit but two of them are gone! I forgot to deauthorize them before I recycled them.
Thanks!

Use the Deauthorize All function if possible, or fill out and submit this form if it isn't.

  • DEauthorizing a computer that you don't have access to any more

Using my iPhone and another program, I transferred all of my music to my work computer. However, there are just a few songs, that when I attempt to play them, tell me that I already have 5 computers authorized and that I can authorize no more.
I have my home computer, my iPhone (if that counts) and my work computer. I do not need to have any other computers authorized. I think the other computers must be my former home PC (which is now in a landfill) and a couple computers at my previous job.
So, here's my question. How do you deauthorize computers that you don't have access to anymore? Is there a way to reset to zero somehow and then just reauthorize the computers that I actually use?
    Any help would be appreciated!

If you log into your store account you should find an option to deauthorise all your computers. Then you can just reauthorise the ones you want.
You can only do this once a year, so always deauthorise a PC you don't need or if you are going to do repairs etc.

If it is just a few songs, do you have any old accounts? If you go into Get Info>>Summary tab on a problem track, it will tell you the account was used to purchase the song.

  • Moving a library to a new computer when you don't have the old computer

    Hi,
I want to set up my ipod library on a new computer but I don't have the old one. Is this possible?
I used my work computer to set up my ipod mini and have since changed jobs. I only have the ipod and want to associate my new work computer with the library that exists on the ipod mini.
I can't seem to find any information that deals with this situation. Any ideas/help?
    thanks!

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

  • How to Transfer Files from Your Ipod to a New Computer when You Don't Have the Old One?

My old computer crashed and I have a new one now, how do I transfer the files from my ipod to my new computer itunes program???

I am having the same problem.  My iPod classic has all of the music on it and I need to get it into iTunes.  Unfortunately, I had not had the computer very long and it did crash before I was able to back anything up.

how do i sync my ipod with i tunes on a new computer when i don't have access to my old computer?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up your phone manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in iTunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • How do you get your tunes and voice recordings from your iPod Touch into iTunes on a new computer if you don't have Mobile Me?

How do you get your tunes and voice recordings from your iPod Touch into iTunes on a new computer if you don't have Mobile Me?
iTunes on tmy new computer shows none of my data and I fear if I sync my iPod with the computer all will be deleted on the iPod.
I still have everything in iTunes on the old computer.

Just move your iTunes library to you new computer.  You can transfer iTunes purchases to you new computer from your iPod by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848Make sure you also move the backup.  You an find where the the backup is located here:

You can move other items by:

After you move you stuff to the new computer, restore the iPod from backup.

  • How can you listen to music when you don't have an Internet or cellular connection?

Is it possible to access your library and Match?

Yes, just not all of it.
As you play music from the cloud, it gets saved to your device so the next time you play it, you don't need to be connected to the internet. That's why there's a setting to "show all music" - if you turn that off, you'll just see the songs that you have with you already, and can play without internet access.
You can also choose to download songs, albums or entire playlists, and those will be available later when you don't have a connection.

  • Awesome Tip for editing a PDF when you don't have the fonts

Needed to do this yesterday and looked online and found out how to edit a PDF file in Illustrator when you don't have the fonts. This is a godsend and thought others might benefit from it if they don't know about it.
Problem: You get a PDF file from somebody and when you try to open it in Illustrator, the PDF is using fonts that you don't have so it substitutes the fonts and screws everything up.
Solution: Create a new Illustrator document the size of the PDF.
Place the PDF into the Illustrator document.
While the PDF is selected, go to Object menu / Flatten Transparency
In there, make sure"Convert All Test to Outlines" IS checked.
Click OK and there you go, everything is converted to outlines, including the fonts and you can do with it what you want.
    Enjoy!

It's an excellent tip. This can also be done within Acrobat: Flatten transparency with Convert Type to Outlines toggled on, then Save As a new PDF, then Embed-Place the new PDF in Illustrator. It's a functionally identical process, although yours is superior because it requires fewer steps.
While Tom is right that you can't edit the text (because it isn't live), you certainly can, for example, include artwork from another party that would otherwise lose its typographic appearance.

  • Updating a database value when you don't have the current value

I need to write a query that updates the amount of points a
user has, even though i don't know how many they have currently.
This is part of a referal program. When a user gets another user to
join, the original user gets 15 more points. The problem is I do
not want to write a query that finds how many points the original
user has because that seems wasteful. It should look something
    like..
    <cfquery datasource="users" name="givepoints">
    Update users
set points = [whatever the current value is + 15]
    where userlogin = form.referer
    </cfquery>
That line that has the value in the brackets is where i am
confused. I don't know the current value so how can i add 15 to
    it?

In some databases, oracle for example, the use of
cfqueryparam speeds up your queries. It also has the potential to
simplify your code in that it handles things like apostrophes, so
    you don't have to.
On the other hand, if you want to cache your query, you can't
use cfqueryparam. Also, if you are using some sort of logic to
build an sql variable to use in your query, it takes a lot of
effort (more than I'm prepared to give) to use cfqueryparam.
Also, not every db supports it.
cfqueryparam has it's place, but that place is not
    everywhere.

  • How to restore when you don't have a library

I use my work computer as my main/only computer. I do not have a library for my songs because I cannot leave the music on my computer because I may get in trouble at work. My iPod is the only place I have the music stored (I have a 30GB ipod w/video that's about 1/2 full). Recently, when I plug the ipod in I get an error message comes up that says, "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod. Use the updater to restore iPod to factory settings"
I have done the 5 R's except for restore because I house all my music just in my ipod because of the whole work computer situation and I do not want to lose all my music.
When I go through "My Computer" to see my music (in "music") and to try to pull it off temporarily so i can restore the ipod, when I looked at the file it said I had O kb of music in there.
My iPod works fine on its own and all my music is there, it's just that music won't play on the computer and iTunes is not recognizing the iPod or the songs. So there's no way i know to fix it through iTunes.
Is there a way to temporarily take the music off the ipod and put it somehere without going through iTunes, restore it, and then put the music back when it's done?

    Thanks Mikey,
I was looking for a program like yamipod to help me out, but when i tried yamipod it didn't let me open my ipod up and said that it had "bugs." I'll keep looking for a similar program

  • How to re-size pictures when you don't have .mac account

I don't have a .mac account so it is a pain to email pictures stored in iPhoto.
Some of my pictures are too big to be emailed and all i found so far to re-size the file is to go to File / Export and try out diff. window sizes until it works. Not great when you want to share 20 pic.
Any one knows of another way?
    Thx

    What email are you using?
The easiest way to send pictures is to use Apple's Mail.app that is part of the OS - it DOES NOT require a .Mac account.
If you are using a purely web-based email account, the File>Export method is the easiest.

  • Using the Calendar/datebook when you don't have a Data plan.

Hi All,  I just got  a BB Curve 9320 model to replace my dead LG.  I use the phone for my convenience only but I fondly remember my old Palm Pilot and it's wonderful Calendar application that let me keep track of my life and where I was supposed to be and when.  I had hoped that the Curve would be able to do the same thing with it's calendar function.  I thought that using the BB desktop and plugging the Curve into my laptop to enable them to communicate that I would have the same function as the Palm Pilot did in my previous life.  Unfortunately I haven't been able to get this to operate as I had envisioned...........am I doing something wrong or without the data plan is this just not possible?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
What is inaccurate is your expectation...what you expect is not a designed functionality...a few things to discuss...so bear with me...
Contrary to how others do things, RIM does not provide a desktop PIM. Others force you to use their PIM and only their PIM. RIM provides a conduit software that functions as a bridge between your chosen PIM and the BB. See this KB for compatible PIM's:
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
So, to do what you desire requires the use of a desktop PIM to manage your data...choose a compatible PIM (from above). Then, get your data into the desktop PIM. Then, configure the BB to sync with the PIM:

  • How to erase a Mac Pro for selling when you don't have the discs

I have a Mac Pro 1,1 that I'd like to sell, so I need to remove all information from the HD, BUT none of the disc I have seem to work to install from.
I have several Macs and so have a lot of discs.....but none of them will work when I restart holding down C, or Command + R.
I have gone to Disc Utility and can't select the HD to erase, because it seems to be greyed out.
    I have on original discs:
    10.0
    10.4
    10.4.7
    10.5
    10.5.6
    10.6.3
all discs I either got with Mac's or purchased...!
    What's the solution?
All I want is to be able to sell the machine with some working OS on it?
    Thanks,
    Alan,

    Thanks Grant
The 10.6.3 disc would be the best. You will need a wired keyboard plugged directly into a USB port on the chassis, not on a display or any Hub.
         I am using wired kb.
If you hold down Alt/Option key at Startup, that should invoke the Startup Manager, and slowly draw an icon for each potentially bootable Volume. Choose the one you want and tell it to proceed.
So, right after I hear the chime, I should hold down "option"? How long should this take? A few times the computer seemed to freeze when doing this, and I just held down the power button for 10 sec to start over (I had a grey screen for a few minutes)...other times, it seems to just bypass the whole option and just restart normally?
Answer only the "what language" question and do not install. Wait for the menuBar to be drawn, then choose Disk Utility off a menu.
Appreciate any other suggestions you may have, thanks,
    Alan.
