Deauthorizing computer?

im having the whole itunes not opening up error message gig, and i have another computer i decided to use and itunes works, but i cant deauthorize the computer that doesnt! it has all my music and videos on it but i cant get them on my other itunes because its not authroized how do i do this???

Drew,
You are allowed to authorize 5 comps, if you are at your limit you have to deauthorize one of the comps. You can do this under the advanced tab, assuming you have access to the computer still. Otherwise, once a year you can deauthorize the 5 comps by clicking on the music store, click your account name, input your name and password, click on view account, then deauthorize the 5 comps. Otherwise, email Apple and pray they are kind enough to believe your story.

  • Authorizing/Deauthorizing Computer

I have recently gotten a few DVDs with Digital Copies of movies to download. I downlaod them and have them on my iTunes. Everytime I open and want to watch them I have to authorize my computer. The computer I have is already authorized, so it should not be having this issue. Also, I can only verify that it is authorized if I am connected to the internet, so if I am travelling I cannot watch any of these movies. iTunes has been frustrating me with a number of issues and this is just one. See my other threads for my other issues, PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks, there is a link on that page to instructions on deauthorizing a computer several times until a message displays saying the computer was -not- authorized and then to re-authorize it. Of course it also says you should do this before doing a repair, hopefully I'll remember this the next time.
    Thanks again,
    John

  • Problems authorizing and deauthorizing computer?

I cannot view all the computers that I have authorized. When accessing my account it indicates that I have one computer authorized. I attempt to transfer a book onto my ipod, it asks for my ID which I provide, then it indicates that I have 5 computers and must deauthorize one before I can proceed.

try deauthorizing all computers in ur 'view account' section under 'store' in ur menu bar. then reauthorize the computer u r on and see if it will let u after that.

  • Deauthorizing Computer Issues

    Folks
I currently have 5 computers on my network at home, however one of them crashed and I had to re-image my Hard drive. {We all know how Windows is Terrible} WHen I re-installed Itunes I got a message saying that there are 5 computers already authorized for my account and I can't authorized my newly brought back to life PC.
Is there a way I can deauthorize my old PC Image and reauthorize the new PC Image?

  • Deauthorizing computer I no longer own

    Hi,
I'm aware that to de-authorize a computer from being able to play itunes downloads you have to log into itunes on that computer and go through the profile section and click de-authorize, however my old laptop is no more (i.e. smashed to a million pieces), how can I de-authorize this machine as there doesn't seem to be the option to do so without de-authorizing all? I would like my new laptop to be registered instead.
    Cheers
    Will

You can't deauthorise a 'dead' computer on it's own. However once you've reached the limit of 5 authorisations, you have the option once a year to deauthorise them all in one go: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation

  • Authorizing and Deauthorizing Computer

    hi,
i just purchased a new laptop and went to transfer some files from itunes and it stated that i have 5 computers authorized and i must deauthorize a computer to be able to authorize this one. well one computer crashed is no longer in our house and when i went into itunes on the other computers they all say this computer is not authorized to authorize play a song that you purchased. there are no songs on the other computers so therefore i have no computers to deauthorize and cannot authorize the new computer.

you need to *deauthorize all* computers (note: this option is available once a year only), then reauhorize those you use/have access to. click here for more information.

  • Multiple users and multiple ipods, - one computer  PLEASE HELP!!

I have 1 computer, three users with three different ipods. I want my two daughters to be able to share the music and movies I buy on their own ipods. That's possible and legal, right?
It has always worked in the past and now I am getting a message when I try to sync daughters ipods that says "this computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on ipod "RB's ipod". Then basically authorize this or you 42 items that were purchased will be removed.
Then I do the authorization. Then it says, this computer is already authorized, 1 computer out of 5 computers authorized. But then it asks me to authorize it again with same "this computer is no longer authorized..." warning. And it will not sync her ipod until I authorize it.
I finally did "don't authorize" just to sync her new songs and it erased all her old movies and songs. They are still in the library but won't sync anymore.
PS...I've never had a different account or different computer and it always has worked in the past.
Anyone have an trouble shooting tips?? THANKS!!

Thanks, Diane. I did try report a problem twice and never heard from anyone. Meanwhile I have deauthorized computer, quit itunes, rebooted and opened itunes and reauthorized. No help. Also have read many other posts and nothing in them worked.
What do you think about this - Go to control panel and uninstall iTunes and any other things with "Apple" in them (including Quicktime).
Then go back to the apple site and re-install iTunes. See if that works.
Just not sure how to open Control Panel to unistall itunes. I do think this might be due to upgrading to itunes 9.2.
(Then once I solve this, need to solve fact that during all this, I chose don't authorize on my daughters computer, lost a lot of her music and her ipod froze as well. Reset, restore, nothing is working to get her ipod back)
    Thanks for your help!

  • "this computer is no longer authorized for applications that are installed

"this computer is no longer authorized for applications that are installed on the ipad "name of ipad" Would you like to autoriize for items purchased from the itunes store?
if you do not autorize ....
Why am I getting this message I only have 1 computer the ipad connects to, it hasnt changed so why do I suddenly have to autorize it again????

I've gotten the same issue now on my ipad.
My mac mini is authorized. I only have ONE itunes account. I sync my original ipad today and I get this message. So i say sure authorize, even tho it is. Enter login and password, comes back with this computer is already authorized. I knew that but ok. hit ok. Up pops message that this computer is no longer authorized, blah blah blah. Ok ill try again. Authorize credentials entered. Get message that computer is already authorized. Itunes is most recent 10.2.1. Ipad is updated to 4.3.1.
I deauthorized computer and reauthorized it. Still get loop.
google for solutions, find lots of problems, no answers outside of reinstall itunes and it "might" work, but not for everyone. Not gonna do that yet.
Figure Ill call, I mean its not that an old a device and its surely a bug in the software, I havent changed a single thing since I last synced and only tried got the sync message when i plugged it in to update the OS.
/rant on Go through a gazillion voice prompts and question, finally get operator and he'll help me if i spend 80 or 30 bucks depending on the service program I want. Yah know thats just total #$%@.
How about some customer service eh? How about posting a solution to the forums. If you dont have one, at least tell people that.
I get the same bit of attitude when I walk in the apple store. Love the products, have been an apple user since the IIe, but I just want the products I bought from you, the software that I get from you, the music that I buy from you, the apps that I buy from you, etc etc to WORK with each other.
    /rant off
has anyone seen a solution for this.

  • Can't Play Purch after I-Tunes says Computer Authorized - Help Please!!!

I have had problems with two windows computers that have had to be rebuilt.
I loaded purchased songs from Ghost file and now I cannot play them or load them into IPOD.
New purchased song will not play or load into IPOD either.
I go through authorization procedure and I-Tunes says computer is authorized but music never plays and I cannot sync purchased songs to IPOD.
Songs that I had burned to CDs can be loaded, played and do not apparently have any protection on them.
    HELP Please!!!

    Found on Google.
Not sure why I didn't try this but I deauthorized computer and then authorized.
    Everything is working now!!!!

  • Can't play a single downloaded video, with all updated softwares and O.S.

Problem : Attempting to play any downloaded iTunes video content from my iTunes Library prompts me with the following message:
    Authorize Computer
This computer is not authorized to play "any iTunes Video That You Just finished downloading.m4v".
If you purchased this content you can open iTunes and authorize this computer to play this content by entering your Apple ID and Password.
    Cancel Open iTunes
Now, keep in mind, iTunes has BEEN open the whole time, it was a necessary prerequisite to purchase an episode of a T.V. show from the iTunes store and download it so I could watch it before bed. So, clicking "Open iTunes", simply brings up another prompt:
Waiting for iTunes to authorize this computer to play "The Video You Just PURCHASED and DOWNLOADED.m4v"
iTunes will open and prompt you for a password. You will not be able to play the content on this computer until you successfully authorize it using iTunes.
    Cancel
I decide not to cancel, and do as the Apple tells me. I wait. Id does not prompt me . . . (maybe because iTunes has been launched the whole time . . . I dunno), instead, the message just eventually disappears and iTunes is left playing a silent, grey screen for my entertainment.
I thought to check that I was running the most current updates on all software (I am), OS 10.5.5,
    Quicktime Payer Version 7.5.5 (240)
    Quicktime Version 7.5.5 (975)
and YES, I am running iTunes 8. Everything was playing back beautifully BEFORE I updated. NOW, I can not watch a a single purchased tv episode from 2 years ago, last week or right now.
I am signed in as the Admin. I am the ONLY user and absolute ADMINISTRATOR of this machine.
I authorized the computer from the store menu. I was told that it is already authorized. 2 computers out of 5.

    Authorized.
    Opened "TV episode".
    "Not Authorized" message.

Typed /Users/Shared/SC Info and clicked Go.
    Set finder to Column View
Selected the SC Info folder and moved it to the Trash by choosing File > Move to Trash.

    FRACK ME!
I've been slaving over two computers running final cut studio, logic studio 2, ableton live, NI Komplete, DJay, Traktor scratch, safari, firefox, aperture, photoshop CS3, iPhoto, Quicktime pro, Toast, text edit, acrobat, preview, reason, avmixer pro, and Riff Works for fifteen hours. I just wanted to chill with a nice old episode of BSG, that I lost in a harddrive crash a while back and now have finally been able to D.L. from iTunes, to relax off to bed. Instead, I've spent one and a half the amout of time I would have spent with my show, jumping through the help hoops and documenting all this (I don't have T.V., I hate it. iTunes is the only way I will allow myself to watch a T.V. program . . . occasionally).
Is my brain just fried from working too hard, for too long outside the consumer realm , and missing something fundamentally obvious to iTunes users who don't work all day and night with every conceivable form of digital media? My brain is totally FRACKED now. Gotta find something to watch to unwind.

    See Chapter 2 here.

  • I've updated to iTunes 11.02 and on start up I get Error 42110 causing the whole system to freeze a minute after or so. HELP!

Is a consistent problem even starting iTunes in Safe Mode.
I have to reboot the computer everytime and is causing system problems.
I've tryied ALL troubleshooting available so far and no solution:
    Reinstalled iTunes
    Reloaded my iTunes Library
    Deauthorized Computer, and authorized again.
Started Windows with another user account and ran iTunes.
    Checked for viruses.
    Checked firewall.
Logged in with, and without, Interet dissabled.
    Curious note:
It started when I logged in to iTunes 5 days ago and showed a couple of message windows. One was the apple id log in and showed and email address I did not recognize.  No one has access to my computer as there is no people around it but me. (really no chance of that happening).
Most frustrating is that I can't upload music to my iPod Touch 2G.

  • Itunes download error message (-50)

I have been trying to download some purchased music and every time I get an error message (-50) to check back later. I have 3 songs that won't download and I'm afraid to try to buy anything else until this clears up. I've tried to update my Itunes software but no luck there.
Help!!!!!! I'm frustrated. Does this have anything to do with deauthorizing computer or what do you think is going on?
    Bonnie

I keep getting the same error message. I uploaded to the itunes 6.0 yesterday and downloaded the "free" song of the week after the upload but when I try to buy a song I get the same kind of message. 'Could not purchase "Unknown". An error occured (502). There was an error in the Music Store. Please try again later.'
I'm not sure whats going on either???

  • ITunes 7.7.1 repeatedly asking for authorization

Something has happened (at some point after upgrading to iTunes 7.7.1) and now every time I try to play any iTunes purchased song it asks me to authorize that song. Over and over and over again. In addition all my purchased songs / TV shows / applications have been removed from my iPod touch.
This is only my 3rd computer that is authorized. I have followed ALL the steps at
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389?viewlocale=en_US
including deauthorizing computer, removing the "SC Info" folder, rebooting, and reauthorizing. All to no avail.
    Any ideas?
    David

I for one don't believe it to be server related. It would be affecting everyone would it not? Secondly, my iMac was working fine even after 7.1.1, until I de-authorized it and re-authorized it that is.
iTunes is not saying it's not authorized- it's saying it is.
Also, I can transfer purchased music, but can't hear it on my iPhone, while I can't even play it in iTunes.
I've got a support e-mail into Apple, we'll see what happens. If it's not resolved promptly, I'm going to push for a full refund on my entire purchased catalogue.
