Debilitating X-Fi Fatal1ty Noi

I've read pages and pages of the "X-Fi Fatalty Popping/crackling noises" thread, altho honestly, not all of it. But here's the thing.
Some people on the thread sound like they have my problem, but others talk a lot about faint or rare pops or hisses or other noises easily explained as bad connections, or relays connecting or disconnecting.
I don't care about any of that, so please don't reply to this with 'Yeah, mine makes a faint hiss or pop, blah blah.' This sound problem is intollerable. The system makes loud pops or crackles when no sound should be made, and horrendous staticky scratching or at least popping over the sound that is supposed to be made.
I also find particularly useless comments like "Don't purchase that motherboard / chipset / memory / OS / ice cream." Thanks those comments really help... Oh, wait, no, no they don't. So don't 'help' that way please.
Meanwhile, thank you very much to anyone who can help!
Here's my system specs:
Windows XP SP2
Creative Sound Blaster X-FI Fatalty Platinum
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum nVidia Socket 939 Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHz
2GB kit (GBx2)
COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UB Black /Blue Computer Case
ULTRA-QUIET PSU: SILENCER? 470 ATX
ATI All-in-Wonder X800 XL 256MB PCIE - 00-7430
3 WD Caviar SE 200GB 7200RPM 8MB SATA II Hard Dri've
Creative SBS 5. 560 - PC Multimedia Home Theater Speaker System
.44MB FLOPPY DRIVE
DVD-ROM Dri've
Shortly after I purchased my new system, I messed up and the computer locked up. So I hit the reset button. After the system came back up, the sound card was horrendous.
I don't mean faint anything, this is every sound the card makes is horribly scratchy like a broken wire in the system somewhere shorting out. It gets better to a regular popping behind all sounds (almost like a badly scratched record) and as bad as no sound at all, or solid static with faint sounds in the background. Also, when the system boots up, and other random times when there's not supposed to be noise, there's either some random popping, or something that sounds almost exactly like the tanks shooting in the old Atari game Tank. BKSHEEEEEeeeeeeeewwww (tone decending).
I planned to call Creative immediately, but they were closed (it was Friday evening.)
I tried everything to fix it immediately, pulling the card, updating drivers, reinstalling Windows, everything. Alas, nothing fixed it.
Eventually I did something and the problem went away... pulled the card and left it out of the system, or perhaps just left my system off for a day or so in disgust and disappointment, I can't remember exactly now. But, now that it was working, I couldn't call Creative (altho I seriously should have... darn it) because I wasn't technically having a problem anymore.
Fast forward to today. I went to reboot my computer, but I accidentally told it to go into Stand-By mode (what a stupid option for XP to offer a desktop). The system locked up, so I hit the reset button completely forgetting the problem I had last time...
Sure enough, it's back. And I'm tempted to call Creative anyway (cause I'm only just outside my 60 days support, and I did have the problem before that...) but I figured I'd check for updates to the knowledge base and stuff here. Alas, nothing but the existing overblown/bloated thread. So I decided to register and start my own thread.
If I change the sound mode (game to recording or whatever) the sound will go from terrible to barely tollerable, but then slowly drift back towards terrible.
Once the problem is gone, it's really gone, beautiful crystal clear sound. But I need to know how to get it gone! Rebooting doesn't fix it, shutting down the system doesn't, even pulling the card out, waiting, and reinserting it isn't enough. My guess is that somehow one of the card's settings is screwed up when I hit the reset button and doesn't get reset properly. But I desperately need to know how to fix it without shutting down my system for 2 or 3 days everytime I forget and hit the reset button...
(Altho, come to think of it, perhaps it's time to disconnect my reset button... but meanwhile...) Anyone know of this problem? Or have a good solution? Thanks in advance for any help!

Frustrating, > but thank goodness...
It's working all of a sudden!
Crystal clear sound without even restarting.
On the one hand I'm really happy!
On the other hand, I don't want to wait 24 hours every time I have this problem for it to mysteriously go away...
I definitely need to disconnect my reset button so this doesn't happen again.
Or maybe I should buy a new X-Fi Fatalty, intentionally hit reset, then call Creative for my 60 days support... Then, when they solve the problem, return the card, and use the fix. :P
Ok, just kidding, but I was seriously thinking that, if I had to buy a new card, I was definitely going to hit reset intentionally and call support immediately.
Thank you for your help, altho we still didn't find a solution... Figures.
Believe me, if it happens again, I'll be resurrecting this thread!

• Whats the difference between Fatal1ty and Fatal1ty USB heads

Whats the difference between Fatal1ty and Fatal1ty USB headset? What is the $30 price difference for other than a USB connection?
Also, what is the advantage to using the USB port?
Still trying to decide on which headset to buy. I will be using these mainly for gaming and some music. Although i'm not real picky when it comes to music quality. Even considered the HS-1200 wireless. Which headset of these 3 has the best sound quality and better quality?

Any USB sound related item is going to use system resources instead of the non usb version. The non usb version uses the resources of the sound card and not system resources. So you should get cleaner sound with the non usb version.
But, be aware creatives tech support is not the best in the world. Keep that in mind when buying a product from them.

Man I am going to be honest with you, I had the same issue tried everything to fix it. The last resort was doing a clean install of OS, its a pain but if you do it wipe your SSD drive clean make sure of that man. After doing this my sound blaster z worked, I also had the recon 3d and it worked as well after doing this. Hope this helps man.

• Fatal1ty headest mk II problems

i finnaly got to get my new headest to work without static in the backround by plugging the headest into the green jack labeled "front" in the back of my computer. i want to change some of the settings in the creative control panel but when ever i open it it says " the audio device supported by this application is not deceted. the application will now exit". it also does this with the console launcher saying " there are no supported audio device avalible. you need to close the application. click OK to close now. can someone please help? i have a X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro Series sound card.

ok i got the control panel to work by reinstalling the sound drivers. but whenever i change anything in the control panel it has no effect on anything. why couldn't creative just make a usb version? all of these problems probably wouldn't of happened. even the old fatal1ty usb headest is sounding better than this one and i never had problems with it like whatever change i made in the control panel made a difference. i'm thinking about getting my money back.

Cmon a mic is pretty basic stuff but still Creative manage to screw it up. Im breaking my X-Fi soundcard in half and throwing it in the garbage along with my Fatal1ty headset and my creative 5.1 speaker system.

• Crackling in Fatal1ty HS-1000, Windows 7

Hi,
I have a crackling in my HS-1000s that will occur if my computer has not been restarted for a while (putting it to sleep does not solve problem, but restarting does). It will sometimes take a few days for the crackling to come back, but it will sometimes come back the next day.
If I do not restart my computer, the crackling will increase in intensity until all audio is output crackly. Then everything will sound high pitched, as if played in fast-forward (voices sound like chipmunks. seriously). Exiting out of the game will usually fix the high-pitch issue, but other sound (youtube, itunes) will still be slighly crackly and stuttery.
Usually a restart fixes this temporarily. I've noticed it occurs more frequently in Battlefield: BC2 than in the past, but it HAS happened in a variety of other games. It seems to only start while I'm playing a game, though. If no sound is being output, there is no crackling.
Additionally, the headset will occassionally hum, on in-game as well. There seems to be no specific on-screen action that suggests humming. Whenever I start up Modern Warfare 2 or BC2, the humming will start at the login menu, then randomly stop.
I am currently using the native drivers.
Thanks
EDIT: It seems that with BC2, when I restart the game, I get no game audio at all. I can still listen to sound on youtube or itunes, but it's still a bit crackly.
EDIT 2: I heard the crackling again and left the game running for a bit then quit out. YouTube was running crackly and then I got myself a nice BSOD. Any suggestions?

Hey man, I'm also experiencing this sh!t...
The crackling just wont stop and it really kills good games, music and movies. :/
I have however come up with a "solution" and that is to un-install ALL drivers and programs for the headsets. The crackling/lagging sure stops but the sound quality goes to hell. The mic volume will also be reaaally low, and that's not really acceptable if you're using VoIP for gaming.

• P35 Platinum stuck with 008D error in boot with newly added OCZ Fatal1ty rams

Hi,
I was using 2x1 GB 800 MHZ OCZ vista performance rams without any problem. I just bought 2x1 OCZ Fatal1ty 1066 MHZ rams. In the specification of my P35 Platinum mainboard it tells that it supports 1066 (OC).
I don't want of course to run all my rams at 1066 MHZ. I just want to run all of them at 800 MHZ.
However, when I placed all 4 rams in every combinotion on the slots, computer boots but it stuck after the boot screen and there is "008D" in the rightdown corner.
Interestingly when I just put Fatality rams (2GB) computer doesn't boot! Only 1xvista perf. Mhz 1xFatal1ty or 1xvista perf. Mhz 1xFatal1ty works but stuck at after the boot screen.
I tried to enter 5-5-5-15 values and tried to adjust memory voltage to 2.1 V as told in the new ram's specification but doesn't affect. What is your solution? Since new rams do not work among themselves, are they broken or my board doesn't support them?

If I'm not wrong, your post sounds to me that you are trying to mix the OCZ Vista and OCZ Fatal1ty RAMs on the same board.
This is highly not recommended as both RAMs are very different in most aspects (Speed, latencies, voltage and made).
I would suggest that you clear CMOS and choose which set you'll want to boot the system with and settle with that.

• Windows 7 RC1 not recognising my fatal1ty headset microphone

greetings,
I have got a problem, I recently switched to windows 7 RC1 and now I cannot get the mic to work.
My soundhardware:
x-fi titanium soundcard
fatal1ty gaming headset (not the USB one)
sound output works normal, windows even recognises that my line-in is active BUT I am getting no input from my microphone at all.
Anyone know what this could be? (I am running the newest beta drivers for my soundcard btw)
thanks in advance

Hi Vanilla,
sorry to see that no one has replied to your problem.... I have the same issue here.
I used to have Vista 64bit installed on my Desktop with a Vista that is supposed to be onl;y used for my Dell Laptop......Windows has noticed this and will not let me do updates anymore to my Desktop
So I reinstalled Windows 7 64bit that I had installed a while ago and now I have no mic to use on Teamspeak. My headset (Sennheiser PC350) worked with Vista 64bit. I am just doimng the Auto update from Creative and have also downloaded the beta drivers from Creative for Windows 7. If I have any luck getting my Mic working I will let you know. I would appreciate if you could do the same to me if you get yours working.
Good luck to both of us.....
Cheers

• Fatal1ty Pro - Subwoofer outp

Hi to everybody here!
I have a Creative Fatalty Pro, a Yamaha Amplified Subwoofer YST-FSW00, and a pair of amplified desktop speakers Creative HD-50.
I?don't need?a surround system, I need only to use the sub together the speakers.
The first way is to?take one channel from the stereo output and connect it directly to the sub (a really bad solution: only a channel used, and the source signal not crossovered!).
The second way is take the mono crossovered signal (sum of L+R signals) directly from the output jack of the Fatalty.
But obviously, I don't know if this is possible ;(
Can anyone help me please?
Thanks in advice.

• Audition 3.0 Sound Blaster Fatal1ty card audio input ASIO issues

I just installed a Sound blaster extreme gamer fatal1ty pro sound card. I've got it working but when I try to open Audition #.0, I get the error about audio input not activated. I can play but I can't record. when I try to, I get a message about the ASIO driver is invalid and change settings in audio hardware. When I go there, the option for input is greyed out. I can record in Audition 1 without any problem so I think I've got the sound card installed properly. Also, I did an upgrade from a Audigy card that worked but had a lot of lag in voice tracking. Any thoughts? Thanks

Download ASIO4ALL, install it and you should be good to go.
Link: http://www.asio4all.com/
Consumer cards like the X-Fi/Audigy series from Creative Labs are not good choices for recording. They're great at gaming (I have an X-Fi on my game machine) and playing movies on your PC but for professional audio applications one needs a professional audio card.

• Cannot move Title Page using Noia 3.0.9 theme with OS X Lion; default theme is fine with FF 35

I have disabled all extensions and plugins and tested both themes and only the default theme works, with or without extensions and plugins. Short of refreshing Firefox, any other ideas out there?

I have refreshed Firefox and no change in behavior. I will pursue with Noia developer.

• Noia 2.0 and personas issues

Each time i try to use personas, my noia 2.0 (extreme) get disengaged. I can not used both theme at the same time.

In Firefox 3.6+ versions you can only have one Theme enabled at a time, whether it be a LightWeight / Persona theme, or a "Heavy" theme like Noia.
If you want to use both a Theme and a Persona (light-weight theme) together, you need to install the Personas Plus '''1.4''' extension ''(any other version of Personas Plus won't work that way)''.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addons/versions/10900
Type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter, then create a new '''''boolean''''' preference and set the value to '''''false''''', to keep that extension from being updated automatically to a newer version and not work like this any more.

The headset is... fine! Also crystal clear.

Is there any fix? I am DESPERATE to get this working. Seriously.

Thanks.
