Debug/No Debug behavior?  Keeps resetting.

How should the Debug/No Debug setting in the Developer toolbar work?
My recollection is that before version 4.2, with debugging enabled for the application, when the Developer toolbar was showing, if I set Debug, the display would toggle to No Debug, and then keep debugging/tracing every page execution until I explicitly clicked No Debug. It acted like a mode setting.
Now in 4.2, I find that it will trace one or two page submissions, and then go back to the Debug display, and stop tracing. If I have an IR page, I can get it to trace the first execution, say with rowset of rows 1 - 15. The display continues to show No Debug, but when I go to the next rowset, and the next, I don't get any new page traces.
So is the Debug/No Debug link a mode selector, where you can be in Debug or No Debug mode, or is it an action button, where you have to have the display show Debug, and if you click it, you will get one and only one debug trace?
What am I not understanding? Here's the description from the Builder User's Guide:
To enable or disable Debug mode:
On the Workspace home page, click the Application Builder icon.
Run the application.
On the Developer Toolbar, click Debug.
The debugging mode is enabled. Debug data is captured in the background.
To disable debug mode, on the Developer Toolbar, click No Debug.By the way, the primary reason I use Debug is to look at the query execution times, which seems to be shown in the "IR binding: "APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT" value=" step. If there is a more direct way to capture and record the actual page source query execution time, it would be great to know.

I still see that even with the URL indicating debug is on, i.e. ...ng.com:7780/pls/apex/f?p=820:45:9773235778171::YES, not all page actions are traced. For example, switching from report to group view, or switching from the primary to an alternate report. That's correct, that's a known limitation of the debug (or IR depending on your point of view). All actions performed with the IR after the page load are not captured on the debug information.
However, they are captured on page load. Sometimes you can set your report to a specific layout and refresh the page to see useful information, But I think it's rare that would yield something different.

  • Last_call_et keeps resetting, no other evidence of activity

I'm trying to debug an issue with a process that pulls a bunch of data into an Access database from a couple of Oracle databases (yes, we're working on killing Access).  Almost everything I can see is telling me that Oracle is doing nothing and it's purely an Access issue but last_call_et in v$session keeps resetting itself which makes me believe that Oracle is doing something.  I'd be really appreciative if anyone can help me figure out what I'm missing.
    What I'm Seeing
When I query gv$session, I'm seeing the session that Access opened.  Every time I look, the status is INACTIVE, sql_id is NULL, and prev_sql_id is a constant value.  When I look at gv$sql for that prev_sql_id, executions isn't increasing and executions = end_of_fetch_count.  So far, so good, Oracle's off the hook.
However, when I pull in LAST_CALL_ET from gv$session, that value never gets above 10 seconds.  It's constantly resetting.  That makes me believe that Oracle is doing something every few seconds.  But I can't for the life of me think of anything that it could possibly be doing that wouldn't cause a change in prev_sql_id or a change in the number of executions of the SQL statement.
Is there something that I'm overlooking here?
    Thanks!
    Justin

It does appear that the Access changes resolved the overall issue.  But while Access was chugging away, I was still seeing LAST_CALL_ET getting reset with no other obvious signs of activity.
    Justin
If it was changing between FROM and TO there must have been some message coming from Access and bouncing back without an error. Possibly some sort of OCI "ping" type call that didn't involve an SQL statement.
Update:  something like a "set context" or "set client identifier" perhaps; possibly a (non-SQL) rollback or commit

  • My IPOD keeps resetting itself

When I connect my IPOD to the computer with the updater program running, the unit just keeps resetting itself on its own. The dpdating tool give the error message "can't mount IPOD" and shuts down. As long as I have the IPOD connected to the computer it continues to reset itself. Does any one have any ideas how to fix this problem?

  • Curve 9350 Keeps Resetting

My Curve 9350 keeps resetting.  It works for a bit but then I'll use Twitter or the Internet and it will shut off and reset.  It resets 8 to 10 times a day.  This is the second Curve I've had in 2 months as my prior phone the trackpad went bad.
I've updated the software with the Blackberry Desktop software but it keeps doing it.  What should I do? Should I wipe the operating system and do it again or?  If so how do i do that?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Here's some processes you can consider...
At the top of each device forum, there should be some "sticky" threads that discuss the OS levels available for many models. If they include your model, then please use those as reference as you proceed. Otherwise, you will have to dig through the official download portal for OS packages for your model:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
From a PC, you can install any compatible (e.g., for your exact BB Model Number) OS package to a BB via this procedure:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
Be sure that you remove, from your PC, any other BB device OS packages as having more than one installed to the PC can cause conflicts with this procedure.
You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
You may also want to try this procedure to perhaps narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • Watched/unwatched Keeps Resetting to Unwatched

I purchased a new Windows PC and copied all my iTunes data over to it.
Since then, all of my TV shows keep resetting to unwatched.  If I watch a show or I mark a show to watched, the next day they are all reset back to unwatched.
Clearly it has something to do with the way things are setup on the new computer, since it always worked before.   I don't know what is incorrect or how to fix it.
    Any ideas or suggestions?

I am having a similar problem and it unfortunately is not resolved.  I've downloaded an obscene number of TV shows over the years and all but about 10 at any time are Marked as Watched.  Still, every day, when I return to iTunes at any random time of day, I will find a random number of 0-15 or so episodes of a random selection of shows that I've watched at any possible point in my past will appear in my Unwatched view as Partically Watched.  I then proceed to select them and reset them to Watched only to reencounter the Partially Watched version back in iTunes sometime later in the week or month.
It tested removing the Sync Playback Across Device checkbox but that did not affect the behavior.  I do own multiple iOS devices but I never see this type of behavior, nor do I have any of these past shows on any of them, only iTunes.
I run the most current version of all iOS software.

  • Iphone now it says it needs to be activated and plugged into itunes. It wont let me do anything because it keeps resetting. Help please.

I cant coonect it to the computer because the iphone keeps resetting itself and the restore or activation cannot be completed. Do I just need to get a new iphone? I have a 3gs and dont want to get a new iphone. Also the iphones sim card wont work and I have tried to do a hard reset mutiple times.

Sounds like your phone was jailbroken.  If it was, you will need to get another phone.  That phone is permanently disabled.

  • User Settings keep resetting

I have an I-Mac. I keep using the get Info to set my preferance for opening photos and other items. I find that the computer keeps resetting them to the default settings. For example I want my .jpeg files to open with Adobe Photoshop but they keep resetting to preview. I want certain items to open in Firefox but it keeps resetting to Safari. What am I doing wrong?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
You are doing nothing wrong. It sounds like LaunchServices is confused.
Launch /Utilities/Terminal and copy & paste this at the command line to rebuild LaunchServices:
    Code:
    <pre class="alt2" style="margin:0px; padding:3px; border:1px inset; width:640px; height:34px; overflow:auto">/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user</pre>
Then press return. Wait until terminal returns to the command line. Quit Terminal. After that, log out and back in or restart. Let us know

  • Ipod will not charge, keeps resetting, extremely low battery.

    Someone please help!!
I adore my Ipod, its 2+, it was working fine, till a few months ago.
In the beginning, it stopped charging on the computer, it synced, but i would have to charge in on a Ipod radio thing first.
Then after awhile, on the radio, (it worked perfectly at first) the ipod would come up with the message, "This accessory not supported by Ipod", it would still play on it, movies, songs, and charge it, but the message would come up every often.
Now it refused to be recognized by the radio, and won't charge.
(yet if you press play the song and movies will play)
It had very little battery left so i bought a wall charger.
I tried charging with a wall charger and car charger!
Now its basically dead, and when i plug it on to the wall charger, the apple logo comes on, and it goes to low battery message, then apple logo..again again.
It just keeps resetting, so i took it off that.
Leaving on the charger for awhile won't work, because it just keeps doing that.
    What do i do?
I can't restore it, because i'd have to charge it first!
(I got a new battery for it a few weeks ago, the battery life was way better, charged a bit faster, and it seemed to work better, but the computer still drained it)
    Anybody have any ideas?
    Please please please.
I swear i love it, but i'm going to throw it out the window soon.
    -edit,
just to add, the first thing that went wrong, that started this thing, was when i got that -48 error, it doesn't do that anymore just to add

I have the same problem and sent my ipod to a the service center for a battery replacement. I was informed by them first by email that "Our technicians have performed full diagnostic checks on your IPOD 5TH GENERATION and have been unable to reproduce the symptom(s) you reported when you requested the repair. As a result of our tests, we can confirm that your product meets Apple specifications for performance, usability, and functionality." then I was told over the phone that they reloaded the software and firmware and that it is working properly and is being sent back to me. Then, and heres the kicker, I received my i pod back with a form stating it was a hardware failure affecting another component. I have since called multiple times and no one can tell me where the hardware failure is but the ipod still says its a battery issue. Go figure i think apple knows exactly what the faulty part is that is causing this error and has no solution short of replacing the unit and they dont want to replace the units of all those with this hardware failure

  • X-fi extrememusic keeps resetting to 2/2.1 speakers on a restart after vista upgr

I checked the knowledgebase and it said to make sure x-fi is default device and disable other devices, which I have done, but everytime I reboot the settings in audio console keep resetting to 2/2. speaker configuration when I used 5.. If I manually set it, it works until a restart. Using driver package Any ideas?

If you actually performed an upgrade installation of vista from xp i can almost guarantee you nothing will work perfectly as it should. Upgrade installations never work perfectly and tend to lag quickly , i recommend that you perform clean install of vista if you plan on using it for a while. You probably didn't want to hear that but unfortunately thats the way windows has always been.

  • Linksys WRT54GC keeps resetting

Out of sudden my Linksys wireless router started to reset a few times a day. This results in all customisations being lost and having default SSID without encryption.
I successfully upgraded the firmware to the latest version 2 build but not change. In the limited logs of the router I don't see anything strange.
There is no problem with router's functionality, it's just that it keeps resetting and then I have to reconfigure all the previous settings. Importing them is not a long term solution.
From time to time the Power LED light is orange (this could result in reboots). I have no idea why this problem occurs.
The user guide says nothing about the orange light ot the power LED. Could be some hardware problem but it is something not persistent.
    Any hints are appreciated.

Make sure the power adapter is properly connected to the router and to the power outlet. Make sure also it is the correct power adapter for the router. The output of the power adapter should be 3.3 V DC, 2.0 A. If the power adapter is correct, then it could be a possible hardware issue. Make sure the firmware has the version 1.06.1. If it is the latest firmware installed, do a firmware re-flash. It means, you still need to do an upgrade using the same firmware version. After that, do a reset and powercycle the router. After the upgrade process, reconfigure the router.

  • Serious iPod problem (iPod keeps resetting)

I've had my iPod for almost 2 years and until now everything worked fine. i listen to it on average 1 hr each day, and until 2 days ago battery seemed fine (I would recharge it each week, though it would be only half empty).
So 2 days ago I was listening to music, tried to go forward and all of a sudden it stopped playing music, it was just frozen. I reset it and it came back with a "sad" iPod icon. Ocassionaly it would end up with the icon as if the battery is dead. I reset it a few more times and mostlt I got the same "sad" icon and only a few times the battery icon.
I than tried to hook it up to my computer via USB and it would just reset and PC/iTunes would not see it.
Since I've had it for 2 years I thought maybe the battery has gone bad (but does it happen just like that without any signs?) so I tried to charge itbut when I connect it to charger it keeps resetting.
I than tried to force it into disc mode and that worked but as soon as I connected it to my computer it would reset. Even when I tried to charge it in disc mode it would reset after a few secunds.
So, if left alone it is in off mode, but if I push any button it starts up, and eventually shows the sad iPod icon. If plugged into the charger or PC it keeps resetting.
I have no way to get into it and update the iTunes, or access iPod. Has anyone seen this? Does is sound like a battery or is it something worse? I am out of warranty and would not want to spend too much money fixing it since it probably does not worth much, though i wish I could save my iTunes collection...

Hey guys, I'm having a similar problem though a slight variation on a theme. maybe you can help me out.
I have a 4th generation iPod (20 Gig) and it told me my ipod battery had died, so i plugged it into my computer to charge. It started out showing me the large symbol of the battery with the lightening bolt until there was enough to power the iPod so that it could run with iTunes. Except once it finally had enough power and interacted with iTunes it went into a black and white mode instead of the normal color mode and the the battery icon up in the top right corner was black with the lightening bolt. I got the normal "do not disconnect" message except that was black and grey as well.
I figured i'd update my ipod as it was still charging and added a new playlist and it appeared to take the music, but when I unplugged the ipod it showed me the icon of the folder with the exclamation point and gave me the address http://www.apple.com/support/ipod. Since i didn't have time then i reset it and then plugged it in via a car charger to see if charging it would fix the problem. Unfortunately, when I unplugged it from the computer to take to the car and reset it, it started rebooting over and over. I was able to force it into disc mode so that it would continue to charge without wasting so much battery rebooting (it didn't reboot in disc mode) and continued to work on it when i got home.
At home i tried every fix they have listed on the site and in my ipod handbook and nothing has worked. I have reset, restored twice, and charged the battery. The weird thing is that it
    1) is recognized by itunes
    2) just turns off if i try to use the charger
    3) appears to be able to download music to it but makes a clicking noise
    4) since it doesn't recognize the charger I can't finish the restore process
    5) still gives me the folder icon when it tries to turn on
    PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!
If you can think of anything i can do to fix this I will be so appreciative.
    Thanks guys!

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Force an app to close: Hold down the On/Off button for a few seconds until a red slider appears,
then hold down the Home button until the app quits.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
If still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
