Debugging a TRIGGER
I can't figure out how to debug a TRIGGER. If I load it according to the same instructions for loading a PROCEDURE, FUNCTION or PACKAGE (which all work), and then I try to run it in DEBUG, I get the error
Source does not have a runnable target.In TOAD, when I DEBUG a trigger, I have to set up an anonymous PL/SQL block, with an INSERT, UPDATE or DELETE statement.
I was expecting something similar to pop-up in SQL Developer (similarly to how the pop-up in SQL Developer let's you design an anonymous PL/SQL block before invoking the debugger against a PROC/FUNC/PACKAGE).
Thanks,
--=Chuck
So, several of our tables have a BEFORE FOR EACH ROW trigger and an AFTER STATEMENT trigger setup, for getting around the mutating table error.
I am having trouble getting SQL Developer to go into one or the other TRIGGER. I thought that if I compiled one, and compiled-for-debug the other, I'd only step into the compiled-for-debug trigger.
What I'm finding out is that I can't get SQL Developer to go into one, or the other. It's like, once I choose to debug one - and do so successfully, I can never debug the other, no matter how I compile the code that I do NOT want to debug.
Is there an order of events I should be following, in order to switch back & forth between triggers? BTW, I also tried to compile-for-debug both TRIGGERS, hoping to step into one, and then the other, but SQL Developer still favored the TRIGGER I debugged first, skipping the other.

To turn on the debug you must:
1) Create the trigger a first time
2) Turn on the debug: "alter trigger trigger_name compile debug";
3) Recreate the trigger (create or replace trigger_name ...) -- BUG
The bug on 9i happens step 3, when you try to Recreate the trigger.
If you don't know about the debug, try to drop and create the trigger.
You can take a look on the NoteId 2256092 in Metalink.

i have a doubt as to how to debug a trigger. I use Toad.
I hope, my question is clear. Please help in solving the doubt as it is urgent.
Regards.I hope, my question is clear. Please help in solving
the doubt as it is urgent.Obviously it is not clear otherwise you wouldn't be posting this question again. What didn't you like about the answers to your other De-bugging a trigger? I tell you what I didn't like: as a debugging tool DBMS_OUTPUT sucks.
Anyway. Perhaps you ought to clarify your doubts. Not having TOAD myself I cannot help you with the mysteries of its debugger. However, I would guess that, like most debuggers, it requires execution in debugging mode. I imagine this makes stepping through a trigger quite difficult.
What you could do is abstract the trigger code in a stored procedure with parameters and debug that. Once you've got it working you can put a call to the procedure into your trigger. If your code is complicated enough to require debugging it is probably too complex to be put in a trigger body. Discuss....:)

I have a trigger that is hanging when it fires. The application
that is causing the fire just seems to hang. What I do to kill
the process is "DROP" the trigger.
This causes the transaction to complete. And the trigger to
finish its job succesfully (it inserts a record in 3 tables).
Any clues on why it might be hanging?
Is there any way to debug this to see where in the process it's
getting hung?
Thanks.hello dear!
i think the easiest way to debug ur trigger is to run ur form
in debugger mode or u can use procedure builder also. There u
can check the code of each [programme unit.
<If u don't know how to use that then u can email me and i will
try to tell , U r welcome anytime.> -

Edited by: Thomas Zloch on Feb 9, 2012Hi,
Thanks, I will check the same. Well, I will be clearing the documents with reference to MIGO number itself. When I do my delivery chrgs migo, that number I need to be populated in my line item's assignment field. Not only that but I the same number should get populated in the delivery charges miro. Since my miro is with ref to PO it becomes difficult to fetch the field.
Plz let me know if you can help me on this as well.
Thanks,

String inputLine;
while ((inputLine = in.readLine()) != null)
System.out.println(inputLine);
in.close();Specially, the error only occurs when using JDK 1.5.0_07-b03 on Solaris platform.
I have tried using other JDK versions (e.g: 1.4.2_09-b05, etc...) and NOT see the error.
This is very strangle! It may be a bug of this JDK version?!!!
The below is all providers available on this JDK; search among these providers
I've found out a unusual point that we see no any provider implementing RSA.
So I doubt that this missing can lead to error

SunSASL = Sun SASL provider(implements client mechanisms for: DIGEST-MD5, GSSAPI, EXTERNAL, PLAIN, CRAM-MD5; server mechanisms for: DIGEST-MD5, GSSAPI, CRAM-MD5)
For the other JDK versions, we can see "implements RSA" and then everything works fine!

0490: C2 3C BC 59 07 FB 84 9A CE 6F 38 6I have received error "[javax.net.ssl.SSLKeyException: RSA premaster secret error]
caused by [java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException: Cannot find any provider supporting RSA/ECB/PKCS1Padding]"
when running the following code snippet from command line[b]:
TrustManager[] trustAllCerts = new TrustManager[]{
new X509TrustManager() {
public java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] getAcceptedIssuers() {
return null;
public void checkClientTrusted(
java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs, String authType) {
public void checkServerTrusted(
java.security.cert.X509Certificate[] certs, String authType) {
// Install the all-trusting trust manager
SSLContext sc = SSLContext.getInstance("SSL");
sc.init(null, trustAllCerts, new java.security.SecureRandom());
HttpsURLConnection.setDefaultSSLSocketFactory(sc.getSocketFactory());
URL url = new URL("https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/");
BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(
new InputStreamReader(
url.openStream()));
String inputLine;
while ((inputLine = in.readLine()) != null)
System.out.println(inputLine);
in.close();Specially, the error only occurs when using JDK 1.5.0_07-b03 on Solaris platform.
[java.security.NoSuchAlgorithmException: Cannot find any provider supporting RSA/ECB/PKCS1Padding]
------------------- All providers avaible on JDK 1.5.0_07-b03, Solaris platform ------------
SUN = SUN (DSA key/parameter generation; DSA signing; SHA-1, MD5 digests; SecureRandom;
X.509 certificates; JKS keystore; PKIX CertPathValidator; PKIX CertPathBuilder; LDAP, Collection CertStores)
SunRsaSign = Sun RSA signature provider
SunJSSE = Sun JSSE provider(PKCS12, SunX509 key/trust factories, SSLv3, TLSv1)
SunJCE = SunJCE Provider (implements DES, Triple DES, Blowfish, PBE, Diffie-Hellman, HMAC-MD5, HMAC-SHA1)
SunJGSS = Sun (Kerberos v5)

I have downloaded and installed the Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) Unlimited Strength Jurisdiction Policy Files version 5.0
but the error still occurs!
Does anybody know how to fix this error? Please!!!

DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_RSQL in OPEN Cursor Statement
Hi,
I am getting DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_RSQL error with short text Error in RSQL module of database interface.
Dump is pointing to the query " FETCH CURSOR".
I have used following code in the logic:
Some times only i am getting dump and some times it isworking fine can any body suggest me how to tune this code?
OPEN CURSOR WITH HOLD s_cursor FOR
SELECT aebeln bebelp b~zekkn
bvgabe bgjahr bbelnr bbuzei bbewtp awaers
FROM ekko AS a
INNER JOIN ekbe AS b
ON aebeln = bebeln
WHERE ( b~bewtp = 'L'
OR b~bewtp = 'Q' )
AND a~ebeln IN l_r_ebeln
AND b~belnr IN l_r_belnr.
FETCH NEXT CURSOR s_cursor
APPENDING CORRESPONDING FIELDS
OF TABLE it_ekbe
PACKAGE SIZE s_s_if-maxsize.
also please suggest me how to use for all enties with data packet size logic as in the above code?
Thnaks & Regards,
VamsiHi Vamsi,
Please check Max's earlier response. You had mentioned that the problem occurs during debugging. Can you please elaborate if it only occurs during debugging or always? I'm not sure if the exception could be triggered due to implicit COMMIT as mentioned by Max. I know that SELECT-ENDSELECT during debugging can trigger a short dump due to implicit COMMIT, but I don't know if that applies also to OPEN CURSOR ... WITH HOLD (don't have a system to test this and also to check what exception is triggered during SELECT-ENDSELECT processing due to implicit COMMIT).
For further analysis I'd recommend to carefully read the short dump and cross-check this against the system log and especially the trace file of the affected work process. As pointed out by Rob the most likely source for this exception are too many conditions in your WHERE statement. However, based on your response this doesn't seem to be the case, so by checking system log and the work process trace file you might get further information that points to more exotic causes (see e.g. OSS note [8312564|https://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1398802|Problems due to insufficient Nametab buffer]).
Using the information from short dump, trace file and system log do some research in OSS for possible causes. Providing all the necessary information for forum users might be tough for the more exotic causes of this exception...
Good luck, harald -
Hey ppl,
I do have a requirement in Oracle Alerts to get the email alert whenever an employee is created.. Now everything is working fine... But this alert works only for one particular BG... Even if i choose the Operaing Unit in Installation Tab, its not working for other than one particular BG... I debugged the Trigger and I found the Default Org id is returning Null Value for all the Operating Units except one Particular Operating Unit.
Any help with this? How to make the value for default Org Id for all Operating Units?
Thanks in advance.You should have an action set associated to your alert and the action that you have defined need to be attached to that action.

FRM-92101 - URGENT!!!
Hi fellas, good evening...
For Christ sake... somebody help me...
I am taking this error for weeks and I am not getting resolved.
I've already tried the metalink, in forums, here, even I found a blog from a developer in Cyprus, talking about this error, but could not solve.
What happens is that when I execute the form on my PC, the instance of OC4J shutdown and the forms closes and shows the error:
+FRM-92101: There was a failure in the Forms Server during the startup. This could happen due to invalid configuration.
Please look into the web-server log file for details.

Already hit the issue of "heartbeat" and FORMS_TIMEOUT, saw the Desktop Heap, reconfigure the JVM and JInitiator (even reinstall them, etc.), and nothing...
Anyway, someone would have any idea? It would be an infinite help!!!
Best regards...

What does that mean. Only with the forms you developed?
Yes... it means the forms that I developed...
I press CTRL+SHIFT+K before run all my forms... I always did it.

Did you check out metalink note 604633.1?
Yes I did. I read this entire page and entered in each note, but nothing helped so far...
Anyway, thanks a lot for your attention...
I'll try the hint that my friend Andreas Weiden said ... I'll debug each trigger in my form and see what happens... -
Hi,
I have some trigger problems. I created a trigger to update a certain column each time a new record is inserted or an existent record is updated. I use Oracle 10g. If I create the trigger and execute an insert query via the XE client everything works fine. However, when I use a spring 3.1 setup with Hibernate and OJDBC driver, I get an
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-04098: trigger 'LOCALUSER_PROP_TRIG' is invalid and failed re-validation
And if I execute a show error trigger query I get an invalid SQL query error.
I can easily activate Hibernate debugging and I can see that the prepared statement by Hibernate is just fine, but I was wondering if I could see the full sql sent by the JDBC driver to the server. Maybe seeing the actual query sent to the server would provide new insight of what could be wrong in the Hibernate setup. Does any one what could be wrong and eventually how could setup jdbc to output debug info? Thanks a lot,
CristianWhich platform is the database running on ??
Other things you should check -
when debugging the EJB, JDev
3.1 looks through your IIOP connections to find the one to use.
Make sure that the IIOP connection that JDev is using for the debugging matches the IIOP connection that the EJB client application is using.

How to run trigger/procedure into debug mode
Hi,
I have created trigger. i would like to run this into debug mode. Please suggest that how to do through sqldeveloper or sql command prompt.
Regards,
Venkat- install PL/SQL developer (trial available at www.allroundautomations.com)
- connect to your DB
- in the tree on your left right click your trigger and select "Add debug information"
- open a new test window (file - new - test window)
- -- Created on 20-2-2012 by RMARTENS
declare
-- Local variables here
i integer;
begin
-- Test statements here
insert into table (col1, col2) values ('cal1', 'val2');
end;- now click the "Start debugger" button and you'll be able to step into all the steps.
- the idea is that you do a "step into" on your insert statement (which offcourse you need to alter according to your table)
good luck!

Richard

Debug Stored procedure or database trigger by 10g Forms
Hi,
I want to debug my table level trigger (On update for each row), I am updating this table by forms. When I debug this form I am unable to watch the database debug.
Please help me regarding database trigger/function/procedures by debugging forms.not possible via forms
you can debug it on SQL Developer by using manual INSERT Updates commands -
after insert trigger, row level, how to debug it?

Thanks for your reply, could you give me an example?
do you mean make the trigger as a procedure?
CREATE OR replace PROCEDURE Proc(a OUT TABTEST)
IS
CURSOR c IS
SELECT emp_id
FROM emp;
i NUMBER := 1;
BEGIN
OPEN c;
LOOP
FETCH c INTO Testobj(col1);
Tabtest(i) := testobj;
exit WHEN c%notfound;
i := i + 1;
END LOOP;
END; -
Hi All,
i am working in Oracle 10g. I have created a table test which has an after insert trigger test_tg. I have also created a stored procedure say test_sp which inserts data into table test. All this i am doing in a schema say 'SEC'. i have given "DEBUG CONNECT SESSION" grant to "SEC", so when i am debugging it executes line by line and also goes into the trigger body which is invoked as i am imserting data into test table in the procedure.
Now i have created another schema "SECRO". This schema aslo has "DEBUG CONNECT SESSION" privilege and INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, SELECT on SEC.test table and create any procedure priivilege. "SECRO" also has EXECUTE, DEBUG on SEC.test_sp procedure. i have also created a synonym for table test, trigger test_tg and SP test_sp in SECRO. SECRO aslo has CREATE ANY TRIGGER privilege.
Now when i am debugging test_sp from SECRO, i am able to do line by line execution of the code and debugging execpt that now it is not going into trigger body
when i am debugging.
Do i need to give some extra privilege to SECRO?
Regards,
Vikasyou're welcome.
Could you close the thread, and Mark as answered?
