Debugging in SAP XI

hi
I just wanted to know that is it possible to do debugging in SAP XI, as we perform in ABAP.
The way we perform step by step process in ABAP, can we do the same way as in ABAp, Kindly let me know.

Hi Reddy,
XI does provide some debugging mechanisms.
1. T CODE - SXMB_MONI You can use this to see the entire flow of your message along with the payload and the graphical flow of your message processing.
2. ADAPTER MONITORING This allows you to trace out the errors and problems occuring in your Adapters running on the j2ee engine.
3. END to END Monitoring This is similar to your SXMB_MONI and allows you to monitor the entire message flow.
4. PERFORMANCE MONITORING This is used to monitor the performance of your entire XI server.
Options 2,3,4 are available under RunTimeWorkBench.

There is a transaction 'SMARTFORMSTRACE' (or was it 'SMARTFORMS_TRACE') which will give you quite helpful information.

Scripts:
1. In the form, Utilities->debugger / RSTXDBUG FM for debugging script
2. Generally SAP script contains the Layout and corresponding print program.
First go to SE71 and enter ur script name. In the same screen go to Utilities->click on activate debugger option.
Now go to SE 38 and enter ur Print Program name and execute the program.
Now you can debug the script Page wise and window wise.
Smartforms:
In the Smartform, create a Code Node and within the Code Node you can hardcode a normal abap Break Point.
Insert a "Program Line" just above the node you want to debug and this program line write a normal abap breakpoint. So whenever you call the smartforms, it will stop at this breakpoint and you can debug onwards.
Other way to debug smartform is to debug the Function Module of that smartforms.
You can also use smartform trace (transaction SFTRACE).

Smartform:I am afraid , we dont have any direct commands or direct procedure to debug a script. But in indirect ways we can do it.
1.Put a command line before where you want check the value of smartform and write the code "BREAK-POINT"->hardcoded debugging.
2.You can debug the function module which generates the smartform.

Yes we can debug scripts n smartforms.

SMARTFORMS DEBUGGING
For smartforms debugging you can do this.
1. Execute the smartform (execute button in SMARTFORMS transaction)
2. Take the generated function module and display it in SE80.
3.Find the smartforms Elements (text elements, windows, code lines, loops) in this and set Soft break points.
Correct name is SMARTFORM_TRACE. You have lots of options for adequate analysis

How to debug in SAP Netweaver Developers Studio?

I am trying to debug and slove my error in SAP NWDS.
I am building portal application->JSPDynPage
I am trying to debug the jsp code behind page, it doesn't realli give error message like the java beans does.
I am quite new to this and do not know how to set the function to test and debug this page can anyone provide any solution ?

Hi Quatre ,
-Select the breakpoints in your Dynpages /beans in ur project
-To debug u have to change the prespective to debug which u can find in
window/open prespective /Debug in NWDS
-Select the Run/Debug or the Debug icon in the toolbar.
-Fill the project name ,application name in the in the wizard opnend .
- Follow the debugging using the next step over F6 ,step return F7 keys .

How to change debugging in SAP 6.0?

Hi experts!!
In my computer I've SAP 6.0 and when I execute a program, the debuggin process is differents to the others versions... I can change this in the debugging menú and press classic debuggin..there's any way to put the debugging program always to cassic debugging?

In the SAP system, goto se80 -> Tab Utilities -> Settings -> ABAP Editor -> Debugging and select Classic as the default.

Debugging a SAP program

Hi Guys,
Is there any way I can create a watch point for an internal table (eg. T_OUTTAB). I am debugging SAP program and want to stop when a particular T_OUTTAB is populated. Debugger should stop when the internal table is changed or even better if particular field in the internal table is changed.
When I tried to put the internal table in create watchpoint, I get following message.
Variable T_OUTTAB does not exist.
Please help.

You can put a watch point on an internal table, but only after you enter that particular program where the table exists. Try to locate the include/program where the table exists, put a breakpoint on the include and then after entering the program/include put a watchpoint on the itab.

Debugging a SAP Query

I have created a SAP query using the tcodes sq01,sq02 and sq03.
Have added an additional field to retrieve some text and wrote the code also inside the query.
Now i want to debugg the query.
How do i degubb a sap query?

SQ01 - query - more functions - display report name
(example : AQZZ/GRC/APPL===FI_AP_20_Q1===)
-> search for your add. coding / field in this report and set break-points

Debugging SAP Scripts MR_PRINT and MR_REKL

Hi All,
Can anybody tell me if there is an easy way to debug the SAP Script Layoutsets MR_PRINT and MR_REKL, which are triggered through MRKO and MIRO transactions. Also I need to know how to repeat the print out of the above layouts, which are outputs of Invoice reductions and Invoice corrections.
I already tried SE71 -> Utilities -> Activate Debugger and also placing a break-point in one of the performs, I call, but I think the print program is a dynamic call and it is not stopping at the break-points.
Let me know what I am missing.

Sorry, if it sounds dumb. But how will you put a hard breakpoint in a SAP Script? I don't hink there is a BREAK-POINT command which can be used in SAP Script? I activated the sap script debugger and am running the MRKO transaction which triggers the layoutset, but it is not stopping as it does stop for any other layouset.
The other way I tried was, to put in BREAK-POINT command in one of the performs the SAP script calls and I was able to stop at that only when I debug in Update debugging mode. This only allows me to debug the perform code but it still does not allow me to debug the script as we debug the script for PO (Purchase Order) by activating the SAP Script debugger and print previewing the PO.

Every Query generated one program like AQZZ/FSCMA/IS===CDM_10_Q1=====
Go To your QuerySQ01 , run your query and From selection screen, check your program name after that you can search your added code. what you added in infoset but your breakpoint and debug your query code.

Debugging Sap Script

HI all,
I am working on a SAP Script...this custom SAP SCRIPT is being used for transaction F110...every time we are running this transaction we are missing some data in the checks that are printing and this problem is coming after we applied the Service PAck, now my question is how can I debug ths Sap Script because when activated the debugger in SAP Script and ran transaction F110 and when finally printed the checks it never went or stopped at the SAP Script...the checks are printing fine in the other box where we haven't applied the SP. So basically I want to compare in both the boxes.

Programs executes in printout in F110 . u can see those programs in Printout/DataMedium Tab in F110 . identify the program u r using for print out and execute it after activating the debugger in sap script .

Hi Frank,
In order to debug a SAP standard transaction,type in the T-code in the system,click on the system on the Menu bar and then status.The new window gives you the Program name.Double click on the program and put the breakpoint on the first statement of the program and then execute the T-code again.
If in case the above procedure does not fulfil your requirement,then the other way is to type in the T-code and then put /h in the command box and press F8.It starts the debugger right away and then you can debug it either line by line through F5,Function module by Function module through F6 or straight Execute through F8.
Also, you can put the breakpoints at any point of time and save them as well so that the next time you debug the same T-code, the program stops at those points in the same session.

Thanks for your reply. My Issue is that I would like to Diplay "Difference Qty" VM07I-DIFMG and Base Unit
of Measure (ISEG-MEINS) in MI07 Tcode as Unit of Issue (MARM-AUSME) which is defined on Material Master Plant Data View.
Till Now, I did is I copied MI07 Standard Program SAPMM07I to ZSAPMM07I. And Assigned this Z program to MI07 in SE93. Now, I need to make modifcation in this Zprogram such that I display: Unit of Issue and Difference Qty fields on MI07 instead of Base unit of Measure.
Here, Base unit of measure is EA and Unit of Issue in ICS (Imperial Cases). IN MI04 we enter in ICS(unit of Issue.. which is converted to EA. and MI01 its in EA. (Base unit of Measure).
Please if this not clear.. please let me know.
