Debugging in the forms

Can anyone help me out in debugging a form. I mean I want it to know when (for e.g.'OK') button pressed what does happens in the database side. What tables get populated and what other things happend in the database. How would I know all these things.
Thanks for all your help in advance.
Steve

Just place a break in the when button pressed trigger and follow the code through in the above window. If you want to see data changes just look in the bottom window -there are many options there - you can see right down to the item level under datablocks, or changes in system variables, global variables etc.

  • Please help me on Debugging the Form

    Hi All,.
    Can anyone please give the steps for Debugging the Form:
    -Actually i am trying to know what is happening when we are working with the Forms(Front End) and
    -what are the triggers firing in the backend
    - What are the Program Units are calling
    -What is complete flow,..
    -How the data get populated on to the screen from backend
    Please give the complete steps, coz i am new to the Forms & Resports.
    Please help me on this with complete steps & Documentation.
    Thanks,

    hi
    i hope it will help u too.
    here is the instructions.
    -Click on Button “Debug” on toolbar of forms, (icon like a “bug”), will active debug_mode;
    2-Execute the forms (Run);
    3-The Forms will show a windows “Forms Debugger” with 3 panels: -The first is “SOURCE PANE”, showing your source code of procedure or trigger that is running; - The second, is “Navigator Pane”, shows a tree of objects to debug; - The third is “INTERPRETER PANE”, where you do pl/sql code to run; Go to second frame(Navigator Pane) and expand node “+MODULE”, select your forms module(click on it);
    4-Open the tree, navigate until your trigger that you want to debug (or to debug ALL CODE select menu “DEBUG” -> “Trigger” and choose Location=”Every Statement”, and write “raise debug.break;” on field trigger_boddy)
    5-If you want to debug a specific trigger of a text_item, go to block, select the text_item, then select the trigger, the source code will show in “source pane”;
    6-Go to menu “DEBUG” -> “TRIGGER” and write “raise debug.break;” on field trigger_boddy (or do a double click over a line code that can be debuged); When the forms run, and run this trigger, the run mode will be “suspend” and forms return to this page of “DEBUG”, where you can view values of any variable, values of block_itens, values of SYSTEM variables and go to a “step by step” running your code line to line, and view changes on variables;
    7-In this step, you setup the debugger, to run now, click on red “X” to close debugger, the forms will be run;
    8-You go run until the code marked to break; The cursor will stop on first line that is running (Source pane) with a signal => on the line;
    9-Now you can run line by line; entire block or return to normal run (see buttons enables);
    When debugging, explore the Navigator, and see anothers variables values like :system.current_record; :system.record_status; :sytem.message_level; Global variableshttp://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/140073/0/

  • How to debug a form (servlet) in the Forms and Reports Server

    Hi:
    I have a new install of an application that ran perfectly on a different host using the Forms and Reports Server.
    I have installed the FRS on the new host and it is working fine. I can run the test form.
    When I run my actual forms app, I only get a blank screen in the browser and on the status bar it reports "Applet Started'.
    Is there a way I can turn on debugging or something so I can see at what point it is failing or why the form is not opening properly?
    Any advise would be appreciated.
    Many thanks.
    Bruce

    Thanks for the reply Frank. I have looked all through the Start menu but see no "Configuration and Migration". I assume it's because I only installed the Forms and Reports option, so I only have Forms Services, Reports Services, and the Universal Installer. No big deal - I've already setup tnsnames manually. I just like to use the Net Assistant when I can.

    kanish

    Kanish,
    Lets start with a few of the basics, shall we. What JVM are you using (Jinit or Sun JRE and the version)? Based on the error you posted, I can infer that you are using Forms 10.1.2.0? Are you running a custom configuration in the formsweb.cfg and default.env? This could be the cause if you have modified the CLASSPATH setting in the default.env excluding core .jar files.
    Typically, the FRM-92101 error is caused by a Java error; either a .jar is not found or invalid or not compatible with JVM, etc.
    Have you tried clearing your Java Cache to check for a corrupt .jar?
    Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)

  • Icons are not visible when the form is run

    I develop a form with only a push button. I developed form using oracle 10DS. I have saved my form in application server. To see an icon in my button, i did the following things:
    1. In application server i made a jar named test.jar. It consists of just two gif images.
    2. I copied this jar in application server's \forms90\java directory
    3. I configured formsweb.cfg file as the following.
    4. my \form90\java\oracle\forms\registry\registry.dat is as the following.
    whenever i run form i can not see icon but in client's oracle jar cache jar is downloaded.

    I tried many times. But could not be successful. Then I just kept my icons in
    \forms90\java directory without making jar. In my form, icon file name is the icon name without extension. Here, i can see my icon in button. but if i replace an icon
    without changing the name of the icon, then i always see the old icon. The new icon, i can not see.
    Please, help me with only Oracle 10g AS how i can see icon in button. Let's assume, there is not oracle 10g DS (any development tool) in the machine where the form is run.
    Please, guide me clearly step by step so that i might be successful.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Bernard,
    It works fine with JInitiator but not working with
    the JPI. For JPI what settings I need to do ??hi TKARIM and Bernard, i am having similar problem even with the Bernard's recommended setup. could you post the webutiljini.htm (i presume you are using config=test) ?
    i am actually using jinitiator 1.3.1.28 with Oracle HTTP Server of OAS 10gR2) calling Forms Server 6i (f60cgi). After setting up according to Bernard's recommended setup steps, the java console showed that it loaded the icon jar file when it could not read the form, but it skipped the loading of the icon jar file once it read and started the form. How do we specify in the form to pick up the icon from the jar file instead from a directory ? Or do we need to specify ? Any ideas ?
    Thx and Regards

  • How does APEX check for null values in Text Fields on the forms?

    Hello all,
    How does APEX check for null values in Text Fields on the forms? This might sound trivial but I have a problem with a PL/SQL Validation that I have written.
    I have one select list (P108_CLUSTER_ID) and one Text field (P108_PRIVATE_IP). I made P108_CLUSTER_ID to return null value when nothing is selected and assumed P108_PRIVATE_IP to return null value too when nothign is entered in the text field.
    All that I need is to validate if P108_PRIVATE_IP is entered when a P108_CLUSTER_ID is selected. i.e it is mandatory to enter Private IP when a cluster is seelcted and following is my Pl/SQL code
    Declare
    v_valid boolean;
    Begin
    IF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NULL THEN
    v_valid := TRUE;
    ELSIF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NOT NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NOT NULL THEN
    v_valid := TRUE;
    ELSIF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NOT NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NULL THEN
    v_valid := FALSE;
    ELSIF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NOT NULL THEN
    v_valid := FALSE;
    END IF;
    return v_valid;
    END;
    My problem is it is returning FALSE for all the cases.It works fine in SQL Command though..When I tried to Debug and use Firebug, I found that Text fields are not stored a null by default but as empty strings "" . Now I tried modifying my PL/SQL to check Private_IP against an empty string. But doesn't help. Can someone please tell me how I need to proceed.
    Thanks

    See SQL report for LIKE SEARCH I have just explained how Select list return value works..
    Cheers,
    Hari

  • The form claims to update the record, but isn't.

    Maybe I just need a sanity check, but this has been driving me bonkers.
    This is in a "when-button-pressed" trigger. Everything seems to be fine in the properties of the form fields, and I even get a "FRM-40400" message saying that two records have been updated in the database (since there are two tables attached to this form), but when I go back to the database table, the records have not been populated. There's actually more to this trigger, but since the records aren't being updated, the rest of the trigger can't do its job.
    I'm posting the beginning of the trigger just so someone can sanity check me. The fact that I'm even getting the FRM-400 message that says it's updated is confusing me. Everything looks fine from the debugger standpoint. Is there something in here that looks like it would prevent me from being able to update the database? I've left in everything, not just what I deem to be the "relevant" portions, just because I'm not sure what might throw it off.
    (anything saying 'soft_messages' can be ignored, it is our own internal way of recording alerts and what kind).

    Everything after this point hinges on the data having been committed.
    This is unfortunately code I've inherited, so I'm not sure why the former owner decided that just because you pressed "yes" the request should be declared successfully processed. I've cleaned up what's listed above, but for debugging purposes I've planted little messages throughout this code to let me know what the state of some of the variables are, and everything looks to be correct.
    Why would I get a FRM-40400 if it's not actually successfully updating the database?
    Cyd

    "The fact that it's doing a commit no matter what..."
    It won't do a commit if the form_status is QUERY. Did you check the form_status before coming to the actual commit statement? If it's QUERY, it won't commit. You need to do check this!
    If the form_status is not QUERY, then it will do a commit unless the form is doing something in a pre-commit trigger, or deleting the records in a post commit trigger. The fact you were getting a "are no changes to be saved" message, leads me to believe you may have something going on in a trigger that fires when it encounters your commit statement. You may have to use the debugger to execute your code one line at a time to find out what's going one here. Have you tried doing that?
    Other possibilities are:
    a. The database or schema you are looking at is not the database or schema Forms is using to save the records.
    b. The records being commited are not the records you were expecting.
    "FRM-40400 blinking up on the screen"
    not sure why it would be blinking... maybe due to the version of Forms Builder you are using.

  • The form could not be certified, possibly because of your password timeout policy

    I am obtaining an error while attempting to distribute a form signed with a digital ID. I can't find any documentation or discussion threads to resolve the problem.
    Specifically, while attempting to distribute the signed form in Adobe Acrobat X, the progress bar gets halfway before presenting the following pop-up error window:
    The form could not be certified, possibly because of your password timeout policy. Please temporarily set the password timeout for this digital ID to "Never" or "Once per session" (in Advanced > Security Settings > Digital ID Files), and try distributing the form again.
    After cancelling distribution, the Javascript debug window pops up with the following error:
    General Error: Operation failed.
    Field.signatureSigr: 0:
    Operation not permitted
    I have distributed this form before using the same method without error. Sometime in the last week, this error appeared, suggesting to me that perhaps the password for the digital ID, created in the last few weeks for testing purposes, had expired.
    In any case, I went through the suggested fix of going into Security Settings, and then set the password timeout for the digital ID to "Never". No problem. I then attempted again to distribute the form, but continue to obtain the same error.
    This is a form created in Livecycle ES2. The client would like to implement trusted Javascript functions - specifically, automatically saving the PDF with a live "production" editable version, along with flattened "secure" versions that can't be altered, and I would like to export the data to XML to make it easier to import data to SQL Server.
    All well and good. I've done my homework on this stuff, and I was able to make it work. After a couple of weeks passed, it would no longer work. I don't remember changing any settings, because I was waiting for the client's IT department to drop the Javascript file containing the trusted functions in the Adobe Program Files folder on the server where this will work. In fact, I just walked through the same process of distributing a form on that server, and it worked. It just isn't working on my development machine.
    What's up with this? Anyone have a clue? I've run out of ideas, thinking that I might just uninstall and reinstall Acrobat X.
    I'd appreciate an assist.
    Thanks,
    Brian D

    I just moved this to the Acrobat Forms forum because (unfortunately) it went unanswered for two months previously in the Security & Electronic Signatures forum. The issue persists.

  • Error: var g_objCurrentFormData_Error : There has been an error while processing the form

    Hi,.
    I have a InfoPath 2010 form which was published to SharePoint 2010.  I migrated the content db to SQL Server 2012 and I have converted the Sharepoint 2010 (windows based) to the SharePoint 2013 claims based site. I have not fully upgraded the site to
    2013 version (Version upgrade to SP 2013) is not done..
    In the InfoPath 2010 form, which is available in SP 2013. I have a button and on click of it, i have the below code:
    XPathNavigator domNav = MainDataSource.CreateNavigator();
    XPathNavigator fldUserurl = domNav.SelectSingleNode("/my:myFields/my:TaskUrl", this.NamespaceManager);
    if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(fldUserurl.Value))
    string urlToDecode = HttpUtility.UrlDecode(fldUserurl .Value);
    HttpContext.Current.Response.Write("<script type='text/javascript'>window.open('" + urlToDecode + "','_self','left=20,top=20,width=500,height=500,toolbar=1,resizable=0');</script>");
    HttpContext.Current.Response.Flush();
    HttpContext.Current.Response.End();
    The above code works fine in SharePoint 2010, however after moving the Site to SP 2013 Claims mode, I am getting the error as
    "var g_objCurrentFormData_Error = [[[12,"There has been an error while processing the form.","","","guid"]],[],0,"","",1033,"","",["0","","","","","",0,0,"",0,false],"","0",false,"",0,"","http:\u002f\u002ftest-t1.com\u002fs\u002fTestApplication","ltr","http:\u002f\u002ftest-t1.com\u002fs\u002fTestApplication",6.35202885373882E+17"
    In the SP Logs, i found the below:
    Unhandled exception processing request for PostbackPage Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.Util.InfoPathFatalException: Exception of type 'Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.Util.InfoPathFatalException' was thrown.
     at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.Util.GlobalStorage.get_CurrentFormId()
     at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.Util.GlobalStorage.get_CurrentContext()
    How to fix this?
    Thanks

    Hi Venkatzeus,
    please let us know your sharepoint 2013 latest cumulative update, if possible please make sure it is March 2013 update or above.
    as i know, between 2010 infopath and 2013 there are difference, perhaps if you can debug your form it may help.
    most probably there are environment settings difference between 2010 sharepoint and 2013 sharepoint. such as the data connection size/length, that causing it failed, or the form data is NULL.

  • Use of us_screen in the form routine :  FORM entry USING retcode us_screen

    Hello All,
    I have one print program entry routine as below.
    FORM entry USING retcode us_screen.
    Some code to print the form data...
    EndForm.
    When i Check the value of us_screen in the debuging, its value is coming as blank.
    When i checked the other form routine the value of us_screen is coming as 'X.
    I am my getting why in my case value of us_screen is coming as blank.
    What is significant of this field.
    Thanks & Regards
    Sachin Yadav

    Cusomization might be missing for that output type in transaction NACE.
    us_screen is blank because below query fails due to missing entry in table TNAPR.
    SELECT SINGLE * FROM TNAPR WHERE KSCHL = P_KSCHL
                               AND   NACHA = P_NACHA
                               AND   KAPPL = P_KAPPL.
    First assign the output type with a Transmission medium, Program, Form Routine, Form in transaction NACE

    Have you looked in the IMG menu path: Financial Accounting > Financial Accounting Global Settings > Withholding Tax > (either Withholding Tax or Extended Withholding Tax) > Generic Withholding Tax Reporting > Define Output Groups.
    View the output group used in the S_P00_07000134 selection screen.  In the Printouts section, Printout 1 and Printout 2 have smart forms identified, either Smart Form or PDF form types.

  • How to pass the value of the form element "SR ID" on the URL in Apex

    Hi All Good Day!!
    I am new to Oracle Application Express, i have been started working from past 2 months. I have a request from client, how we can achieve the same in Apex. Please find the
    deatils below.
    In my application we have a text item as "SR Number", for that filed they want below scenerio to be work around, could some one help me for the below request.
    Check the incoming request for a passed parameter and set it to a value using something like this Request.querystring(“p_t10”). If nothing is passed the form is set up with a blank in the SR ID field, if a value was passed you populate the field, perhaps the log-in page can pick-up the parameter and store it in the session to later be put on the form after successful log-in.
    Label: SR ID
    Name: p_t10
    ID: P1_ENG_SID
    URL: http://sampletest.com:6666/pls/temp/f?p=123:1&p_t10=495694-94583875
    Below are the deatils of mine Apex versions#

    Sruthi!!

    hai Sruthi,
    if you know the emply item creation and set vlaue?
    Create new item as dummy in target page.
    set current value and pass to that dummy item, then can use that value at target page.
    f?p=&APP_ID.:20:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.:RP,20:P20_XUSER_SECTION,P20_XROW:&P17_NWM_ACCES_SECTION.,&P17_NWM_DOC_ID.
    =Means=
    target Page # 20
    Target items   P20_XUSER_SECTION and ,P20_XROW
    Values from current page: &P17_NWM_ACCES_SECTION. for P20_XUSER_SECTION
                              &P17_NWM_DOC_ID. for P20_XROW
    If Tablar form/IR page use the following
                 #P17_NWM_ACCES_SECTION#  for P20_XUSER_SECTION
                 #P17_NWM_DOC_ID# for P20_XROW
